The X8 is by phone means a decade old but it is still one of the.best in it's class. Who still has anX8 as a main phone or as a second phone?

you right. xperia x8 is decade old but i buy this phone on february 2012. hahaha... i buy this phone because it a cheap. my x8 is my main phone. (bad english)

my x8 is my main phone , i bought it about year ago and still i love this little beast xD i also have lumia 800 but still prefer my x8

I think he was referring to the fast pace in which the mobile industry is going. Like, you know...ant years or somethin' like it... ha
On the other hand...
yes, i bought my x8 (the black one) last year in june after my old one got stolen, and i was short on cash, so i bought it with the promotion they had at 3 (three), it was 49 euros without any subscription...planned to change it after a while, but it was ok, and with all the possibilities the android world brings, didn't really feel the need to change it.
but...still...planning on upgrading to defy+ but not sure if it's worth it for now...

Yes with a decade I did mean the fast pace of the industry. Yet our phones are still keeping up whereas development for phones released then has stopped

I got this monster last october & even this granny shakira is old he still kickin to taste some ics

Its my only phone.I love it.Bought in March 2011.Staerted with android 1.6 abd here we are with a stable android 2.3.Im just happy.Dont want anything else.We all have come a long way,if anybody looks at the last few pages of android development Youll see confusion there.THANKS TO DEVS FOR MAKING OUR PHONE AWSOME !!!

It's also my mainphone, one year old now

I have my X8 Black for about 1,5 years and don't have no intentions to change it. The great work of all the developers of this community and his beautiful design, make it an awesome phone.

X10 mini pro has cypress 5 mp camera. Keep the x10 mini pro bro.

keep both

x10 mini pro is better all of us know (x8 is ahead in that it is mdpi)
BUT our community is BIGGER !!!

yea the only thing thats making it hard to decide is the screen res on the X8, i love the camera on the X10MP, only bought it to repair....but it was just a faulty battery...well i've fallen in love with it tbh!

Bro,
Me can see why its hard for u to choose, because both of it has almost same hardware.Other lacks is overcome by other.In short way,Its complete each other.
In this case me suggest u keep the most had sentimental values for u.The one u bought first,always with u,gift from somebody or anything that will make u miss it most if they are gone.If we cant decide by physiology, we should consider from psychology side.
Hope this will help.

But Xperia Play is your choice. Since it is awesome and has a bigger screen and a better camera. And also IT IS A PSP/PHONE!

you could also get Xperia Pro with 8.1MP and keyboard
but it's the best to decide that for yourself i never ask ppl or someone else what phone to buy i think about one or 2 and decide it myself what i want and if i have to think about it for 2-3 weeks then so be it.
They have both 5MP both 1GHz same resolution,
only screen size is different and Neo V doesn't have keyboard.
But if i were you i would think about buying Xperia Pro instead it's good and i think around same price as Xperia Play (in my country)
or get a newer one like xperia u has dual core all of them are in my country around same price sure i don't know in yours and how much you want to spent for a new phone =/

go with xperia 2012 series..
because play and neo both are single core processors ..
its time to switch to dual core

Dude look for for a clean second hand phone that has a dual core processor if you can't afford a new one

Look at that :) A new Sony phone with specs like X8i/W8i/x10i mini

New Sony phone just leaked - Sony ST21i. It has same MSM7227 chipset as our X8i/W8i/x10i mini and even same resolution lcd - 320x480, 3mpx camera and most important thing that it runs Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3!
Maybe some porting when it will go on sale?

well we know nothing abpout RAM. We dont know how much it will have

but this is actually a good thing...it means completing our own ICS roms will be easier

well about ICS. Sony said that ALL 2011 models will get it right? so W8 is from April 2011 so it should get it too. So if W8 get it then X8 should get it too. That means: Sony lies?

you know what grinds my gears?... the xperia E!

I am a little upset that the xperia E comes with official Android 4.1 JB having less specs then the xperia play and they get jellybean! not ICS straight to jellybean! both specs are identical but the xperia E has a lower Gpu and internal memory AND STILL! I understand that sony said that they wanted to leave this phone as a gaming phone but at least make it a optional update on your own risk or something

Yeah it sucks that we dont get it and we didnt even get ics (i dont count the beta because of all its bugs) but there was a rumored release for it a while ago could this be it? :sly:

I think the problem is even if Sony released JB for our phone game development would still be slowing down like it has been lately. Plus all the older XPO releases like asphalt 6 and star battalion wouldn't work. Not like a lot of people play those. I still do. Is it possible to utilize some aspects of the xperia e's firmware?

thats why i say at your own risk, for people who might not want to game in the xperia play

Wouldn't be the first time a weaker phone got a newer FW than Xperia Play... we've already established that the reason Xperia Play didn't get ICS/JB was because it would throw the software compatibility way off.
If you want a good example of how bad it would've been, just look at all Evo V owners who are in an absolute fury because the vast majority of 3D games were made to operate under 2.3. The way I see it, Sony did the smart thing by opting for a more stable ecosystem.

The thing is that a lot of app developers are abandoning gb, and making apps for 4.0+, even Google them self, example, chrome browser a great browser but not for gb.
I'd even settle for a decent official ics from Sony, I mean the developers here are doing a better job than them

The Xperia Play has a Scorpion S2 CPU, it's old. The Xperia E is a Cortex A5. Scorpion might be faster in raw flops but the A5 has more features. Snapdragon is quite poor by today's standards and the Xperia E will probably beat it in many ways.

They don't do it on purpose. 2.x API just doesn't support anywhere near as much as 3.0+.

and i see what you mean by the differences, i seen some benchmarks

I am going to admit many people know more about the inner workings of hardware. But I am sure that with the xperia e's 320x240 resolution also helps in benchmarks as it's not having to push as much in terms of resolution. Although I know that is only one aspect of a bigger picture.

My friend has an Xperia J which is running on stock ICS and I can tell you it is laggy as hell, my phone with Krisdee's Hybrid ROM is much more stable. I know this has nothing to do with the Xperia E but Xperia J has similar hardware as our Xperia Play. Maybe he has a faulty device, I don't know.

Us modders have done a great job in making ics work well on Xperia play
