Digitizer problem.... Need to send to service center

I received my HD couple days ago, everything looks great except one thing is that the lens/digitizer has a bump. When I tilt it and look at the screen from the side, it is not flat, and I can see the bump clearly. So under the bump, there's a big gap between the digitizer and the glass. Anyone know who or where I can contact about this in US?
Does anyone has contact information for HTC USA support?
i recall reading somewhere that there's an HTC service center in Houston. sorry i can't provide more info. good luck!

google it, the power of the world wide web is at your finger tips
Just call Sprint and get a new one.
Tell them you know there is a one year warranty from HTC and this is not normal wear and tear, you've never dropped it or mistreated it at all.. they should overnight ups you a new phone. That's what they did for me.
Or, turn your mobile network to evdo only and then you won't be able to get calls or texts. The Sprint store will give you a new phone for free.

I think sprint was fully aware of the paint chipping issue.
Oddly my wife dropped hers behind the bed and it put a huge scrtach down the the key pad - Sprint said they where aware of the issue when she called to see if she could get it fixed. Shipped her a new one no questions asked. I was amazed.
The one in the link Chococrazy posted isn't google branded, it would almost be worth 70 just to get rid of that. I feel like such a tool when I see that Google logo.
My Hero was obtained through craigslist, but I am a Sprint post-paid customer. Do you think I'd have any luck complaining about abnormal wear and tear on my phone?

Waranty typically only applies to the original purchaser. I doubt they would do anything for you if the phone wasn't originally purcahsed by you.
while were on this topic lets say i wanted to put the gsm hero case on my cdma hero what are the logistics involved in doing this. i am guessing its not possible based on key placement but if it were possible that would open up the world of accesories that are available only to the gsm phones. plus i kinda like the chin.

GSM phones are typically quite a bit slimmer than CDMA phones. I do not think the sprint phone would fit inside a GSM casing.

If ANY reps at my store exchanged for this reason I would be shocked. Keep in mind, some of us work there because we LIKE the tech side of things and aren't totally clueless.
If you're going to be doing any exchanging, make a Nandroid, copy it to your computer, RUU, and destroy all evidence of have rooting it. If it's rooted when you turn it in, they'll tell you the warranty is void. Copy the nandroid to your PC so you can restore it on your new phone and have all your settings and apps.

well when u RUU the phone you're completely wiping everything off, right?.like brand new/stock..you'd just have to keep the sd card or reformat it?.....or does RUU no completely turn it back to stock?
i may be totally wrong, but i have never been able to transfer a nandroid backup from one phone to another. i believe they are phone specific.
i believe u gotta change the name of the folder/backup.to the new phone's series of numbers..like "CBDMRS12....."...somethin like that i think.

i was able to do this. nandroid will create a new directory which is named using the phone's unique serial number, but you can copy over the backup from a different phone and just put it in the current phone's nandroid folder. been running my phone like this since I got the replacement phone on 12/1.
I rename all of my backups to what they were (Fresh, Modaco, Gumbo etc) As long as I drop them back in the serial number folder, and there is no white space in the name, they work no problem.
Funny thing. I searched google and was brought here, which in turn someone said to search google, which I tried again and was brought here, which in turn someone said to search google, which I tried again and was brought here, which in turn someone said to search google, which I tried again and was brought here, which in turn someone said to search google, which I tried again and was brought here, which in turn someone said to search google....
And then I finally gave up...

Not to mention the trackball and button placement is different.

[Q] How generous are T-Mobile with replacement phones?

I ordered my Slide online the day it was released. It WORKS fine. The issue I have with it is so minor, many people may not normally notice it. Basically, when I slide the keyboard out, the left side of the screen stops a fraction of an inch before the right. I'm talking like maybe 1/6th of an inch or something, very minor.
I do have a small scuff on the top corner of the phone where I dropped it, though the drop was not the cause of the issue.
Is this anything you would try to exchange your phone for? Am I being too picky? Would they simply tell me no?

I have been with T-Mobile for over 5 years and any time I have had a problem no matter how small they have replaced my phone with no question. I have the mt3gs and have had it for 2 months and I am having a issue with it and they suggested right off to just send me a replacement so this week it should be here. They don't really care about scuff marks though I never have dropped mine so not sure. They refurbish them anyway so don't sweat it...
Well think of it like this, I had an hd2, had some data troubles (region specific). Went Through 3 hd2's before they were allowed to exchange. Offered me a blackberry said no I wanted the slide. They sent me a new in box slide and I got to keep the hd2, all free.
Id say that's rather generous

That's very generous, did you have to threaten to leave or anything? Also how long have you been with tmo?

I guess it certainly won't hurt to give them a call then! Thanks!

No, it's just their basic policy (sort of). Let me explain. I was past the 14 day period... but had issues with the phone... being that i was within the 1 year warranty they did an HD2 exchange (sent out refurb). I still had the same data issue, so i called back and asked if i could get different phone because it doesnt appear to be a defective handset, just perhaps bad in this area. They said "yes, but you need to have at least 3 phone replacements in a 90day period before they have that option" so a few phones later i called back asking for a phone swap... (They conclude "similar phone" based on price)
They offered me a BB 9800(?) because it has similar MSRP and business features. I said would prefer an android device (was hoping for the vibrant but its msrp is 499) so they offered me a MTS ($430).
The slide wasnt in the (available options) on their page so they had to set it up manually.. which meant it was technically a new phone purchase at full value... so they just charged the full value on the account... and credited it back on the same invoice...
Which is why i got to keep the HD2
Also ive been with tmo for quite some time around 9 years or so... maybe a little less
LOL. Chatting with a rep online right now about it. I explained that one side of the keyboard popped out further than the other and she told me we'd have to do a master reset. I told her I didn't think that would work.
Yeah, they're replacing it. Yippee!
yeah their a good company when it comes to replacing phones. I went throw 3 G1's. Ones battery life was horrible for some reason. Replaced. Second was the replacement that got stolen in the mail.......that was a ***** just make sure you CHECK THE PACKAGE when before you sign for it, my sister thought it was ok to take an empty box from the person thinking it was to send mine back but really the driver jacked the phone. Third. I bricked my G1 pretending to be a developer and messing with things i shouldnt have been.
GL with your replacement bro
Hi I have a quick question I do a lot of deals on craigslist when it comes to phones. I get bored of something then put it on craigslist for trade. I currently have the mytouch slide and my issue is the camera. I've googled it quite a few people have this problem. The camera is just blurry I tried auto focus the whole 9. The thing is I got it from a personal sale/trade. Would tmobile still be able to replace it? I want to call CC but want to see you guys opinions first. Thanks in advance.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Yup, that was why I had to send my first slide in.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Per company policy you can do 1 instore warrenty exchange for a brand new slide instead of the possible refurbished replacement you could get from customer care. Make sure its a corporate store and if they tell you no they can't. Tell them to look it up on streamline they will know what you mean.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
I just received an replacement slide. Mine had the fuzzy camera issue.
The replacement came does not come with battery nor back cover, nor any other accessories at all. I should have exchanged it at the corp store instead.
At least the camera works better and has a new revision "XD" My old one is revision "XC"
You have to have 3 replacement phones before they can offer you the vibrant. And you will have to pay the difference in price.

So im thinking about returning mine because of the blurry camera issue but the moisture indicator under the battery is partly red. Basically it looks as if the corner of the battery kept rubbing on it from all the times I had to remove it while trying to root. Do any of you think it will be an issue? I thought that I read something before about there being multiple indicators in the phone, the one on the battery is still all the way white.
They definitely asked about the moisture indicator and told me that if it is red, I will be charged $100 out of warranty fee for the replacement.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Its only partly red so I'm hoping they will just ignore it. The phones never been near water I really think its just red where the corner of battery drags accross it
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
thats a lie i try to exchange to a different phone and they tell me that they will give me the same disney phone they exchange it 3 times already thats nuts
They will charge you. And its not from ur battery rubbing it.
Did u take it in the bathroom when you got a shower or hot bath? Biggest place for moisture to get in phone and not know it. Still $100 isn't bad to replace a water dmged phone
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
I'm on my 3rd slide an the one I had before this one got a little wet. some how on the back an the. moisture indicator on it turned red. so when I recieved the replacement
Phone I just took the new white. sticker off an put it on the phone I. was sending back. Never heard anything else about it so guess it worked. Hee hee

what he said.i had my screen replaced a couple of weeks ago for $35 flat(no TEP).screen was brand new and i was in and out in 30 mins.
Had a screen replaced yesterday for free with TEP. They usually only keep the thin #1 in stock the tech told me so they will exchange your Evo or maybe order you one.
How did you tell if one was type two or type three? My screen was cracked and I believe it's a type two but I want to be sure.
Here's one for you:

Found this one too..

Also, the one you linked is a TYPE 1 not a type 2 or 3. The one I just posted is a type 3 but it has no pictures.

I am pretty sure that he didn't come on these forums to ask this specific question just to be told that he can take his phone to Sprint to get it fixed. Since he has it taken apart already and is looking for a specific lcd, I am assuming that he bought this phone outright as a parts phone or something similiar and is looking to fix it and it is not activated. If I am wrong, please feel free to bash me all you want. If I am right, I would try to contact a Sprint store to see if they will sell you lcd outright, I am guessing that they have the parts.
Edit: Also just looked at the date, he posted over a month ago.
Type #1 (thin) is made by AUO. Type #2 (thick) is made by Sharp. At least that's how we differentiate at Sprint. Sharp and AUO.

Screen Protector?

Is there any screen protector that doesnt involve stickyness? I never get screen protectors on right, and ALWAYS get dust or hair under the thing and it pisses me off. Is there any screen protector that has some sort of static cling, or some super easy non-dustable way to put it on? lol
Idk about a non stick screen protector but if you want a normal screen protector to be put on right then go to a local electronics store and the rep won't have any issue putting it on for you. I normally go to best buy and go to the mobile section and the guy does it but I've gone to t-Mobile, att, radio Shack, and even staples. Maybe the people in my area are too nice but I'm the same way and I hate the air bubbles.

Asus Nexus 7
HTC Sensation 4G

Why did I never think of that?
Lol same here I had an iPod touch and I bought screen protector but failed to install it, so I kept buying a new one and on the fourth one, I was so angry that I asked if there was any warenty on it or whatever and the guy told me he could install it for me
