Screen Protector? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any screen protector that doesnt involve stickyness? I never get screen protectors on right, and ALWAYS get dust or hair under the thing and it pisses me off. Is there any screen protector that has some sort of static cling, or some super easy non-dustable way to put it on? lol

Idk about a non stick screen protector but if you want a normal screen protector to be put on right then go to a local electronics store and the rep won't have any issue putting it on for you. I normally go to best buy and go to the mobile section and the guy does it but I've gone to t-Mobile, att, radio Shack, and even staples. Maybe the people in my area are too nice but I'm the same way and I hate the air bubbles.

Why did I never think of that?

Lol same here I had an iPod touch and I bought screen protector but failed to install it, so I kept buying a new one and on the fourth one, I was so angry that I asked if there was any warenty on it or whatever and the guy told me he could install it for me

[Q] How generous are T-Mobile with replacement phones?

I ordered my Slide online the day it was released. It WORKS fine. The issue I have with it is so minor, many people may not normally notice it. Basically, when I slide the keyboard out, the left side of the screen stops a fraction of an inch before the right. I'm talking like maybe 1/6th of an inch or something, very minor.
I do have a small scuff on the top corner of the phone where I dropped it, though the drop was not the cause of the issue.
Is this anything you would try to exchange your phone for? Am I being too picky? Would they simply tell me no?

I have been with T-Mobile for over 5 years and any time I have had a problem no matter how small they have replaced my phone with no question. I have the mt3gs and have had it for 2 months and I am having a issue with it and they suggested right off to just send me a replacement so this week it should be here. They don't really care about scuff marks though I never have dropped mine so not sure. They refurbish them anyway so don't sweat it...
Well think of it like this, I had an hd2, had some data troubles (region specific). Went Through 3 hd2's before they were allowed to exchange. Offered me a blackberry said no I wanted the slide. They sent me a new in box slide and I got to keep the hd2, all free.
Id say that's rather generous

That's very generous, did you have to threaten to leave or anything? Also how long have you been with tmo?

I guess it certainly won't hurt to give them a call then! Thanks!

No, it's just their basic policy (sort of). Let me explain. I was past the 14 day period... but had issues with the phone... being that i was within the 1 year warranty they did an HD2 exchange (sent out refurb). I still had the same data issue, so i called back and asked if i could get different phone because it doesnt appear to be a defective handset, just perhaps bad in this area. They said "yes, but you need to have at least 3 phone replacements in a 90day period before they have that option" so a few phones later i called back asking for a phone swap... (They conclude "similar phone" based on price)
They offered me a BB 9800(?) because it has similar MSRP and business features. I said would prefer an android device (was hoping for the vibrant but its msrp is 499) so they offered me a MTS ($430).
The slide wasnt in the (available options) on their page so they had to set it up manually.. which meant it was technically a new phone purchase at full value... so they just charged the full value on the account... and credited it back on the same invoice...
Which is why i got to keep the HD2
Also ive been with tmo for quite some time around 9 years or so... maybe a little less
LOL. Chatting with a rep online right now about it. I explained that one side of the keyboard popped out further than the other and she told me we'd have to do a master reset. I told her I didn't think that would work.
Yeah, they're replacing it. Yippee!
yeah their a good company when it comes to replacing phones. I went throw 3 G1's. Ones battery life was horrible for some reason. Replaced. Second was the replacement that got stolen in the mail.......that was a ***** just make sure you CHECK THE PACKAGE when before you sign for it, my sister thought it was ok to take an empty box from the person thinking it was to send mine back but really the driver jacked the phone. Third. I bricked my G1 pretending to be a developer and messing with things i shouldnt have been.
GL with your replacement bro
Hi I have a quick question I do a lot of deals on craigslist when it comes to phones. I get bored of something then put it on craigslist for trade. I currently have the mytouch slide and my issue is the camera. I've googled it quite a few people have this problem. The camera is just blurry I tried auto focus the whole 9. The thing is I got it from a personal sale/trade. Would tmobile still be able to replace it? I want to call CC but want to see you guys opinions first. Thanks in advance.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Yup, that was why I had to send my first slide in.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Per company policy you can do 1 instore warrenty exchange for a brand new slide instead of the possible refurbished replacement you could get from customer care. Make sure its a corporate store and if they tell you no they can't. Tell them to look it up on streamline they will know what you mean.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
I just received an replacement slide. Mine had the fuzzy camera issue.
The replacement came does not come with battery nor back cover, nor any other accessories at all. I should have exchanged it at the corp store instead.
At least the camera works better and has a new revision "XD" My old one is revision "XC"
You have to have 3 replacement phones before they can offer you the vibrant. And you will have to pay the difference in price.

So im thinking about returning mine because of the blurry camera issue but the moisture indicator under the battery is partly red. Basically it looks as if the corner of the battery kept rubbing on it from all the times I had to remove it while trying to root. Do any of you think it will be an issue? I thought that I read something before about there being multiple indicators in the phone, the one on the battery is still all the way white.
They definitely asked about the moisture indicator and told me that if it is red, I will be charged $100 out of warranty fee for the replacement.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Its only partly red so I'm hoping they will just ignore it. The phones never been near water I really think its just red where the corner of battery drags accross it
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
thats a lie i try to exchange to a different phone and they tell me that they will give me the same disney phone they exchange it 3 times already thats nuts
They will charge you. And its not from ur battery rubbing it.
Did u take it in the bathroom when you got a shower or hot bath? Biggest place for moisture to get in phone and not know it. Still $100 isn't bad to replace a water dmged phone

Dust under screen

For those that returned there phones due to dust under the screen, Was the replacement phone a refurb or was it new?????
I know normally it's a refurb but since the phone is so new, who knows. I returned my Slide after 3 weeks after noticing dust under the screen. I think they gave me a new one.
I just noticed dust under my screen too. So annoyed. Probably going to exchange it this week.

I want to think its a new phone but i just received my phone by ups about 15 minutes ago. The box was all dinged up and when i opened it up i had the skeleton of the phone in those little white packages they now use to hold the phones and the screen protector was all smashed up and hardly on the screen itself. I noticed the back part of the phones rubbery sides had these weird bubbly smudges everywhere.....it doesn't feel very "new" >_>
I exchanged mine at a store yesterday and got a new one. It still had the plastic under the battery.

You bought yours from a store though right?
It is my understanding that you cab go to any T-Mobile store and return your phone (if you purchased online and its past your remorse period for that store)
I was told by wirefly that I should bring the phone back to the local T-Mobile store to exchange it since I was a day past the 14 day remorse.
I think it has to be a t-mobile corp store too.

I was told by T-mo rep that they can do exchanges in-store, since MyTouch is their flagship line. May be a bunch of BS but who knows... give it a try, what's the worth that can happen?

Scuffed it pretty good on top left metallic part/bottom left of keyboard, ahhhh now it looks like crap and I can't stop looking at the scratches, screen is still perfect though. Oh well not the end of the world lol, I guess I'm going to have to let that be a lesson for me

I say ship it to ddgarcia05 if its bothering you. I would if it happened to my phone, but luckily I bought a case cover that was talked about in the thread in G2 Accessories. : )

Mine fell down once on cement. Jumped up and down a couple times. Few scratches and bumps here and there, glass cracked a bit, scratched some other places. Overall hurt.
I do have to say, if it were any other phone, it would have been torn to pieces. This phone is tough!

Just get one of those decal skins, if the scratches bother you,
Now if we could find decals for ugly girls with hot bodies... =/
(paper bag doesnt cut it anymore)
You should at least buy a cheap slip on case from the chinese. On ebay they are like 2-4 bucks and tons of different designs. I prefer the OEM G1 Case, bought 2 extras just in case I lose one haha.

What if you got a cellphone case at walmart, then dropped the phone an hour later after your G2 was all snuggled up in the case?
Also, devirginized = cherry popped, my dear virgin friend =P
I dropped mine as well, it hit the pavement and bounced..the battery door came off and the battery and sdcard came out, but no damage to the phone...thanks to Zagg
I remember I dropped my G1 like that getting out my car in my moms driveway. I was a little mad but I knew my contract was just about finished and the fact that I had dropped the G1 so many times I just shrugged it off. So far I've only dropped my G2 on the carpet in my house. Plus I have a screen protector and a clear hard case w/kickstand so Im not worried but Im also not walking around holding my phone. Im using BT.
Mine flew out of my pocket while playing basketball

Shattered screen-FYI

So I pretty much shattered the front glass as I was getting out of my car my phone swung under my leg in my pocket and as I exited my car I put my weight down on the phone and a spring in the car seat. I wanted to cry.... SOOOOO, I called Asurion they want a $175 deductible, so I thought I would investigate and see if one of these cell phone repair places can get it any cheaper..FAT CHANCE. First off I was warned that if I let them fix it they would damage the housing beyond repair and they wanted $329 for the screen.
tldr; get a case and screen protector for this brilliant phone
No thanks.
That's a shame. Having read about other experience with shattered screens and camera lenses I was a little worried. Then my son drove over his (on a dirt road but still...) He dented the case a little and got a slight scratch on the screen... that was it.... Maybe it depends on the angle of the impact as to if they break or not. He did NOT have any protective case around it making it even more bizarre... but I still believe in them.
Good luck with it.

I absolutely agree with OP. Get a good case for this phone. I've already broken digitizer in my phone because i forgot to buy a case.
Unfortunatelly anodized aluminum isn't grip friendly
Sorry for your loss , I bought the case below from Amazon UK for £6.99, and it is immensely tough, the part that covers the screen is padded and i can hardly bend it, it`s so strong.

I can understand that. I only let her play under my supervision and with my permission. And only locked to her kid games. Once she is somewhere else or grabs it without telling me its gone. I'm not lax about it because I'm making payments on it. I agree with you there.

I didn't say they don't play with electronics. I said they don't play with my phone. I paid nearly $600 and do not intend on needing to send it off for repair when the inevitable happens.
My boys have a shared line on my account and use it to call and text family regularly. They also play games, search the web, watch videos and what not on their Amaze, my wife's extra tablet or her One S. Hell, I even let them use my GS3 occasionally as it is mainly a work email device.
They have also broken a G2 and a Kindle Fire and put dings and scratches on every device I listed above.
I still stand by what I said. My One is not a toy. Hand me downs are one thing but I understand that the chance of an accident is much higher with children and I choose to mitigate any risk.

Oh good, gouged my screen..Refurb or replace

Loaned my case out to my girlfriend as she just got her Note 3 and hers was ruined as a result of an accident...while working on a car today my phone slipped out of my pocket (While i was bearing weight on it and my hip) and my phone now has three 1/2 inch long gouges in the screen. The colors are okay and it still responds to touch in these areas..
My Note is still under warranty but I know this isn't a manufacturer defect. I have Asurion-they want $150 to replace my Note (which actually gets a good signal and doesn't drop calls) with a refurb -.-
I'm pricing how much a shop might want to replace the screen on this, but this literally happened 20 minutes ago so I haven't had a moment to look. Has anyone paid for their screen to be replaced? How much?
Should I roll the dice on a refurb or just get my screen replaced? I really don't want to wind up with some P.O.S that only acquires LTE when you're standing ontop of a tower.
Most shops want $120-200 to replace the digitizer, NONE will just replace the glass despite the fact that the touch/colors are ok
My Insurance company will give me a refurb for $150
Screen replacement
I just stumbled upon your thread and let me tell my experience about getting the screen fixed on my old phone. It wasn't the Note 3 but the Nexus S back when these phone started coming in.
So the glass broke as usual (fell off a table after my foot jammed into the charging wire) and the screen was responsive in that area later. I got the screen replaced for about a 100$ back then and the phone crapped out after a while since the guy had not fixed it properly or I don't know. The average price of a screen is somewhere around a 180 USD to 200 on ebay roughly. A fair deal would be to get the refurb otherwise I guess going for a screen you're better off moving to a better phone.
Moving off to a better phone isn't an option unfortunately. I have one and half years left on contract and the sub $200 phones on eBay don't even match my note 3s specs
On the upside, I called Asurion. They said I had "grandfathered in" and my deductible was $99..so I ordered one. I'm expecting it to basically receive 1x only and broken wifi.
The repair guys wanted $130 and nobody would just do the glass :/
It'd be nice if I got one on NC4, doubt it tho.

That sucks. Next time something like that happens, you'd be better off replacing it yourself, especially if it's just the screen and not the digitizer as well. Replacement screens can be purchased for well under $10, and aren't difficult to install.
