Cwm recovery issues - Atrix 4G General

Hey guys, i have a few weeks experience flashing and all that leet stuff, but it seems i have a problem! I started to modify my ATRIX on 2.3.4, i unlocked sim, rooted, unlocked bootloader, and flashed custom recovery. I played around with a few roms, then i decided to update my fw to 2.3.6, well before i could do that i had to undo all mods so i ended up flashing a stock 2.3.4 fw and upgraded OTA. Im pretty sure that was my mistake... i may have needed an unlocked 2.3.6 sbf.. i re-rooted, and flashed cwm with rom manager, now when i go to boot in recovery mode i get failed to boot 2 starting rsd protocol. Everything is fine i just need to know where i messed up and how to get cwm running again. P.S. ive also been having an issue with my camera! I open the cam app and i get black screen, factory reset does NOT fix! Ive seen post's saying that the module is bad if that does not work BUT, when using flashlight app the flash lights up for a sec and then shuts off. When i switch to front camera it will stop responding, i'll click wait and after a min it will show image and i can take a pic(only with front cam). If i could get both issues solved i would be very grateful! If any other info is needed ill be sure to respond asap! Thank you in advanced for reading and assisting with my issues!

Get the cwm recovery img & flash with Fastboot and that should fix your recovery.

Thanks for a reply but I did that as well and ended up getting an error. "Failed to process command flash:recovery error(0x180002)". I tried this method at first, received that error then tried to flash cwm through rom manager and recieved failed to boot2 starting rsd protocol.

Try unlocking bootloader again just to make sure ... Maybe that factory firmware closed hole on you when flashed.. Then flash cwm image ....

+1. You'll always need to re-flash pudding BL after using an .sbf.

adding to this: the automatic unlocker should work for you too. I had to re-unlock my phone after Motorola upgraded it when it was out for repairs. Worked like a charm.

[Q] Latest GPS FIX

Can some one please tell me witch gps fix is the latest one and witch one in your opinion actually works. I see that a popular fix is the Dj05 radio fix and there is even a hardware fix out for the vibriant that bends the gps antenna contact. So witch one should I try first? witch actually works and witch are known not to work?
I searched and came up with a lot of different threads and I think we should consolidate all those threads and list all the fixes and make a poll asking witch fix worked better for the users. This is a very common problem and I am surprised there are no stickies threads been update regularly with the latest info. The biggest problem is that there are MANY threads about it and some are very old, not sure if there are better fixes now.
So please help me list and consolidate all those threads, I will update this post showing all your input. I also have 3 fascinates that all are a little different when it comes to gps and would love to try the fixes and post my results on all three.
Edit: I would also like to write the proper way to test your gps, I see some threads have this buried in between the gps fix steps and I would like to make it more obvious so if you know how to properly test the gps, let me know. I know there are some apps like gps test and status that show you lots of info, would be great to see a list results with a working gps and a faulty one.
thanks.
Dj05 solved my GPS woes.. insta-lock now..

When I was running stock, and rooted dI01 I laterally could not acquire a signal. I tried leaving it on, outside in the open, for over an hour, and nothing.
Going to dj05 I can lock within 10 seconds or less.
I am so impressed with the difference.

I tried following the guide on this link, successfully installed the radio via odin, tried installing the rom and kernel through clockwork but I do not have an option to choose zip file from sd card. the only option i get is to apply sdcard: update.zip. I changed the name of the rom zip file to update.zip and tried to flash it but it told me it failed to verify whole-file signature. What should I do now?
the guide does not explain much so I need some help.
Did you flash clockworkmod recovery through odin, then flash clockwork from rom manager? If so you should have an update.zip on your sd card that when applied takes you to clockwork then you can choose which zip to flash from there...

I do not think I flashed clockwork with odin, what I did is installed the dj05 Radio with odin by checking pda and finding the file, then pressing start. after that, the phone rebooted and I installed rom manager. Once in rom manager I installed the latest clockworkmod recovery 2.5.1.0. I do not have an update.zip file there on the root of my sdcard. what did I do wrong? How do I fix it? THanks
in about phone I can see that baseband version is s:i500 V.DJ05
The fascinate is different from other phones you need to flash clockwork through odin then in rom manager here is a link on how to flash through odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788099
Flash that, then delete any update.zips on your sd card, then in rom manager flash clockwork and it will download an update.zip that when applied from stock recovery will take you into clockwork... Once all that is done if you already have the modem installed boot into clockwork and select install zip and find the DJ05 rom you downloaded, flash that and you should be all set...

I rebooted and it does the same, no splash screen. I waited a few seconds to make sure it booted all the way and the screen turn on by it self. seems like somehow I messed up the splash screen. I am going to try and go back to stock then try this again. I tested the gps on all 3 of my phones. white one is still doing the best, OG one (stock) is still doing same as before and the new one with dj05 is using more sats that the OG(6/8), but the OG has more sats in view (5/9). Is that weird?
That djo5 kernel from thread does not support boot animations. It's normal for that kernel.
good day.

Please Help

Sorry to bother everybody once again but i ran into a little problem.
i tried restoring my image file from cwm and it just froze into the samsung screen, i tried clearing all the data, cache and dalvik and still wont work.
so i tried to flash odin files dj20 system and kernel and it worked for a while but when i restarted the phone it keeps going to the recovery screen, i do not know what else i can do. i tried so many searches on this forum and google and i cant find a way that works for me, so i am stuck at the recovery screen. please help.

If you don't have one, then flash the DL17 clean rom...

i dont think my radio is fine anymore, i was too impatient that i flashed the dl09 radio.
well i did alot, i cant really tell you what i did in exact order because there was too much at 4 in the morning after working on this for 6 hours but here we go:
odin cwm recovery
used new update.zip from cwm forum
tried flashing adryns rom and imnuts kernel
tried flashing dj20 system and kernel
fixed permissions
tried nandroid restore
used "magical fix"
had to reinstall my drivers for samsung because of magical fix
repartition device via odin
reflashed dj20 system and kernel via odin
radio file not working so i flashed dl09(because i was too impatient and panicking)
turned on, set up phone, turn off, download mode,
odin cwm recovery with former update.zip
cwm flashed adrynalynes rom and peanutbutterjelly kernel
rebooted, then rebooted back to recovery,
restored nandroid backup
phone works once again
i do not know if that helps, well thats all i did, and i believe it was it that order

Boot Loop after unlocked bootloader

As the title says, After I unlocked the bootloader, and flashed a 2.3.4 rom, My Atrix sometimes will go up to the blur phase of the boot and then it will restart, but most of the time will just do a boot loop on the Red Moto Logo at boot, I can go into fastboot and recovery no problem...
Thanks on any help...
same thing
i get the same thing every now and then but i can get fastboot and recovery so im good i guess.
Did you wipe before you installed your ROM?
Do a fastboot -w then reinstall your ROM.
also do a factory reset and make sure your on the newest recovery

Did the fastboot -w and reinstalled the ROM and it is doing the bootloop the same, first boot goes up to the blur phase and reboots, and afterwards just does the boot loop up to the motorola dual core red logo.

then follow the instrucionts that I posted before here

[Q] Help! Softbricked while trying to unlock

I had a new phone on 2.3.4. The first thing I tried to do was to unlock it by RSD flashing the unlock sbf from the main pudding thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261).
The initial process seemed to go okay, but I think when the phone was supposed to reboot, it ended up giving me a boot failure message (0x1000, if I remember correctly).
So, I tried the "fastboot oem unlock" command anyway, and it worked.
I tried to RSD flash the full 2.3.4 sbf from brandon15811's thread, but RSD gave an error, something about not being able to find the handle or something.
So, the next thing I did was to see if I could flash RomRacer's CWM via fastboot, and that seemed to work, too.
After that, if I tried to reboot, I would get the motorola startup screen and the word "unlocked", but it just seems to stay there.
I'm about to see if I can use the recovery to flash the full 2.3.4 sbf from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138204).
Is that the right way to try to fix this, or is there something else I should try?

Unlocking an atrix already on 2.3.4 will give you a soft brick, its been confirmed many times. No way around it. Find the fruit cakes thread as msd24200 stated. Any recovery will work. If you do the full 2.3.4 sbf you can't rds back to an older build our even if you try the 2.3.4, that would give you a hard brick. If your unlocked just go for one of the great roms available.

I did a lot of reading before doing this, and somehow, I never came across that particular fact. Ai! Well, thank you for pointing that out!
So, here's a question then... I have another phone that has 1.83 on it. What's the best way to upgrade that to 2.3.4, unlocked and rooted? Should I follow the same path I did here, do the OTA update, unlock and brick via the unlock sbf, flash a recovery, then apply a fruitcake?
Or is there a better way? I've heard that the 2.3.4 update resizes the partitions, and that seems like a good thing, so I'm not sure I want a path that avoids that.
What do you think?

why bother to update if you're going to downgrade it again?
the unlocker SBF if 1.8.3, and the phone is on 1.8.3, so flash that. then install 2.3.4 via CWM with a fruitcake. done.

the unlocker SBF if 1.8.3, and the phone is on 1.8.3, so flash that. then install 2.3.4 via CWM with a fruitcake. done.

Unce I've unlocked the phone on 1.8.3, would it be better to do the OTA update for 2.3.4, and then root? Is this even possible?
One important question, if I apply the CWM fruitcake over 1.83. will it resize the partitions the way the OTA update would?

I don't believe so, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but in all honesty there is no reason to use fruitcakes if you don't plan on going back to an older build. Even if you mess something up flashing roms you can go into recovery and restore a backup and your good to go. The only way I've seen a hardbrick is from going back with rsd.
I would unlock then ota to 2.3.4 then install romracers cwm and then your free to flash pre rooted stock roms or cherry (3.14) or alien rom.

Nevermind 10char
I could see flashing back to an older build beneficial to a developer but not your everyday user and rom flasher. Both methods will get you to the same place, fruitcake or ota. I know there are benefita doing the ota like partition size and some other tweaks but I'm not 100% what those benefits are.
I jumped in early and got the leaked ota before we knew of the hard brick issue and like I said I'm still rocking the same atrix I bought back in march.

Thanks! If that's an okay route to take, then that's what I'll do.

Can't open /cache/recovery/log errors. need help!!

Need tons of help! I've been searching the forums for almost 24 hours now trying everything and still can't get it fixed. I rooted and got s-off on my wife's MyTouch 4g. I installed ROM Manager and flashed the latest CWMR 5.0.2.0. I did a full Nandroid backup. Then I tried flashing a Gingerbread ROM over the Froyo rom. It went to white MyTouch screen and never left it. I finally gave up and went back to recovery. When I try to restore using Nandroid, I get this:
Error while formatting /system!
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recover/last_log
I can get into HBOOT, Fastboot and Recovery just fine.
I tried the RUU exe floating around and it always fails trying to reboot bootloader.
I tried letting it autoupdate the stock PD15IMG.zip floating around it always fails.
I've tried flashing different recoveries including older CWMRs and always get error about remote not enabled.
I'm at my wit's end. I'm leaving town tomorrow and need to at least get back to the nandroid backup before I leave. Any advice?
Wrong section dude ! Read the forum rules .

I put PD15IMG.zip on the sdcard. HBOOT checks the file and prompts me to update. When I choose yes, each option shows Fail-PU.
Is there something I'm missing here? Any help is appreciated. Sorry if it's in the wrong section. Can someone move the thread? Thank you.

I had the same problem, bad chip, just keep the ROM you are currently running, if you try to flash some thing you will have a semi brick.I couldn't never solve that problem.

That's the problem. I wasn't able to successfully flash a ROM so it's useless.

I rooted using a 1-click method I found here. I don't have the link in front of me. How can I check which one I have?

=/ I believe you should've flashed engineering bootloader before wiping your current ROM. Is your phone under warranty?
