I know a few other threads on this have been posted but... I was messing around with some Voodoo color settings (freely) and I found settings that literally made me stare in awe.
These colors have the richest blacks I have ever seen on my phone, while providing the deepest and smoothest other colors. It is really stunning. I love them.
--------------------
Here are the settings:
*Gamma offset
Red (-59)
Green (-59)
Blue (-59)
*RGB Multipliers
Red (2309xxxxxx)
Green (2563xxxxxx)
Blue (3001xxxxxx)
--------------------
I used the Voodoo app. Try and get the first 3 digits correct, or very close to them. The other 7 shouldn't be noticeable to the human eye .
With themes and framework overwrites that bring out the black in your screen (I'm using Blue Infinitum and a keyboard MOD) you get even more just out of the experience. The black fuses with the screen, it's crazy.
Let me know what you think!

If you find it is too black in some area make the blue value in the RGB multipliers higher.

AMOLED screens save power the darker the image, as well as the higher the wavelength of light (Power use: white > blues > greens > reds least). No backlight, so if a particular colour looks darker it'll use less battery.
I can't comment on these settings though because i'm all too happy with my already perfect SC-LCD
Loving these colors!!! Thanks man!!

Even if we show a screen of the colors on-screen it won't matter... The colors are only in effect on your actually nexus anywhere you view the screen (computer, other nexus, etc) the colors will match your screen settings and not mine... So do you mean a screen of the settings or ...?

ha thanks for this! it's only dark voodoo settings like these that make ICS colors bearable to me (I can't stand the drab grey!)
very nice! with samoled, black uses the least battery....the darker the black, the less battery. great battery saving settings!!!
I did run into one problem. Whenever I refresh my RSS or Tweakdeck, the screen turns into a bunch of shades of green :/ . I don't how I even relates to colors, but it only does this with these settings.

Well, I removed 'Auto-Brightness' and it seemed to resolve the issue. I'll check for awhile. Thanks man!!!
the settings may look nice, but when the screen dims from having to turn up the brightness a tad to prevent it from having a strange color-faded screen, it turns to a odd shade of a faded yellow...
---------- Post added at 11:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:41 PM ----------
i think gamma offset with punchy settings and rgb values of 2251394080, 2516943200, and 3336681600 respectively, with brightness turned up a tad seem fine. doesnt change a different color when it dims as well
I am running aokp m5 with matrix 19.0 and can't seem to change gamma or color multipliers. I see the settings under from control-> performance but using the sliders has no effect. Anybody have any ideas?

well, since this has been out and included in my rom for over a month now, i figure ill put it out here for all others to use as well since its been perfectly stable, smooth, fast, and very good on battery.

this will hopefully get updated often, and i have another version im working on thats pretty different than anything else out now.
big thanks to harcore for the great speedmod kernel that this is patched with
big thanks to supercurio for the great voodoo work
thanks to xcaliberinhand for the great reorient work
BIG THANKS to exists for answering my questions when i was first getting started with this.
I'll definitely put this on my Captivate. Can't wait to see what's in the works.

Yes, speedmod based (build 2) should be having lower brightness compared to build 3.

Hmm... its so quiet in here... hey any of you guys been experiencing a low brightness red led on the opposite side of the charging/notification light? I have my regular green one but there's a red very dim one on the other side as well.

I believe that would be your proximity sensor.
its not proximity... it wasn't lighting up until last night. Now I have a red dim led to the right of the proximity/light sensor. In the same spot as the green charge/notification light just on the opposite side underneath the silver grill thing.

Interesting, i wonder if there is a way we can utilize this light. How noticable is it?
Well its freaking me out a little haha.. but its very dim, yet to my trained eye highly visible. I'm sure there's a "brightness governor" for it somewhere in the hardware

It is a proximity notifier of some sort... simply turning Killswitch on and off will turn tht light on and off... the thing that caught me offgaurd was that it wasn't doing tht before... either way mystery solved...thx guys.

Hey!
I've tested both kernels already.. i want to know if there is anything that one perform better the other or something like that..
What do you think:
IMO Glados is more stable than matrix ATM also i think matrix is built off glados it has all its features but tweaked by matchkid
matrix reboots regardless of OC and glados im able to OC up 1.4 without increasing voltage without reboots. Once Pete tweaks his kernel with OC and voodoo colors ill be jumping ship. i used his his GB with absolutely no issues
Edit
Too be fair I haven't tested new matrix
I see.. and what abt CFS vc BFS?
And btw on every rom i've tested, when im at lockscreen and press the power button to turn screen off, there is some green flash on any kernel but stock.. anyone has the same? no big deal but just wondering..

This problem is related to Voodoo Colors. Stock kernel does not have it.
so with a stock kernel, there isn't the "green flash" problem, right?
currently I use the Matr1x v13 kernel. If I install GLaDOS, I'll have the same problem?

I'm not sure that it's the kernel 100%. On GB when I ran CM7 with a voodoo kernel I had the green/yellow flicker (if the brightness wasn't at 100%). But when I switched to the GWK74 stock rooted OTA with a Voodoo kernel, that flicker was completely gone at any brightness.

i9020A here... with no brightness and with brightness the screen is the same on matr1x and glados

I prefer GLaDOS to Matr1x but Matr1x is not built off GLaDOS. The other kernel devs have accepted Ezekeel's MODs. That's GPL, open source.
I'm running GLADOS @ the moment. Everything looks good, but I do get the green flicker but I'm sure this is normal on every Kernel w/ Voodoo.
However, when I correct my colors through Voodoo, it's not saving upon reboot. It goes back to the default 2.3.3 crap colors. Any words of advice or anyone sharing similar experiences?

From what I've seen CFS is more stable than BFS.
Most devs request you swap back to CFS if BFS is FC-ing a lot.
Pretty sure it's only more stable because it's more common.
From what I've read CFS has more gradual performance increases while BFS relies on more peaks of performance.
What BFS is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_Fuck_Scheduler
Update
Glados 2.3... quicker than previous builds even though no mention of performance increase
this kernel is noticeably quicker than his other kernel and IMO quicker thann other kernels and smooooth also got rid of the occasional slight lag when accessing launcher
BTW im using cfs
Hi all
I just did this Mms.apk for myself, which includes some of the Yolks Emoticons and I thought it could be nice to share it with you.
I just put it in my Nexus S i9023, it works greatly and emoticons show in both sent and received messages...
To be honest i've never seen or used xml in my whole life but i did this customization in an hour or less and i put it in my /system/app directory. Suddenly the phone rebooted by itself and optimized the new Mms.apk, so no crashes or bricks.
Anyway i'm not responsible for anything and use it at your own risk
P.S.: ah right... it can be used correctly with english or italian language (which is my main language )
I really like the emoticons . The only problem is the Smiley face shortcut on my keyboard still shows the faces with noses

I'm not sure... I'm studying for my last university exam because i'm going to graduate the next month and i don't have much free time at the moment Then I'm going to learn how to build Android apps.
By the way it depends on which keyboard are you using. I use swype for example
I already planned to edit the colors of the Mms.apk in order to have a black skin instead of a white one, so it shouldn't be hard to edit the keyboard too if you are patient
Editing the system apks isn't as hard as I expected so I wonder why it's impossible to find custom-themed apps to replace the original ones
Nice work...
After a little while the Smiley faces seem to disappear and resort to stock... Then I have to reinstall the app. I'm not sure why...

Awesome Smileys Love them!!!
I've been using Clemsyn's OC Kernel, partly for the fact that it allows a minimum brightness of 5%, but as he has not yet updated the source to 4.1.2 I was wondering if any other kernels have this tweak, or if there is a setting that can be adjusted with a startup script?
My current setup:
CM10 Nightlies + Motley+ Alpha kernel (3.1.10).
I don't know how to change it in the system, but this app works in a pinch.

I already use Lux Auto Brightness, which uses the same principle for its sub-zero mode, but find that this means that you lose contrast. Ah well, guess I'll just have to wait for Clemsyn.......
