no noticeable changes. update .270 to .285 over the air, if you want to keep root.

I recently aquired the Vibrant and all I have to say is OMG this is a fnatastic phone. it blows my cliq, cliq xt, and g1 out of the water.
Anywho, the one question I have now that my phone is rooted and has the clockworkmod recovery is when the 2.2 update releases around september-ish, will this effect the phone being able to update like it did for the cliq, or will i be able to flash 2.2 from root and just lose root. i would be ok with it at that point because 2.2 takes care of all the issues that i have with 2.1 update1. the only reason i know this is because i have 2.2 on the g1 and its amazing. any thlughts on the matter?
once rooted on this phone, you have to wait for one of the devs to dump a 2.2 flashable rom to get the update. This is why I am gladly waiting to get the ota before considering rooting. I love the phone as it is.

yeah but I heard that if you just root only, you will be able to get the OTA update as you are still using the stock ROM. But if you are using a modified dev ROM, then yeah it will not auto update.
Can anyone confirm this?

Yes this is the case, if all you do is root the phone, you will still get Tmobile updates. You might lose root, but as was pointed out in a similar thread, Samsung doesn't seem to care about locking things up, so you should be able to root again easily.
ok so its more in line with what the g1 used to do if you didnt go onto a modified rom. with the cliq, even if you root and are on the stock rom, you still cant load the ota update because it fails when you try to load it once downloaded. i dont mind losing root once 2.2 comes out, i just want to make sure i can get it. i was thinking of going back to stock without root, but i'm having some trouble getting the phone in download mode

Thanks for the input. Has this been the case for any other phone? Where rooting only will still get you OTA updates, or is this a theory?
Thanks~
i got it from Rogers
I thought it was the much anticipated 2.0.A.0.24 but no, now we are ahead. Let me describe what you can expect from this update:
1. phone is not wiped, but root and xrecovery are gone
2. loaded with more sony junk
3. you can still root it XDXDXD with the flashtool
4. feels smoother? i dunno
5. official multitouch!!! feels better than the bin4ry one
lol thats what i can observe from this build, need more info? just ask, ill try to find out and tell u
Theres already a thread going on this...but its pretty cool that rogers actually released it that fast.

I'm on Rogers (not rooted) and I have not received this update yet. I have tried both the PC Compansion software and the Sony Update Service.
How did you get this?
X10a or X10i? Baseband version?
Hi,
I just want to know if with the 2.3.3 the root process is diffrent, or just do the same thing as the old 2.2.1.
Anyone as already tried?
funny story its non existent, it cant be rooted and wont be for a very long time if ever
I think you're wrong, cause maybe just needs to downgrade the firmware as usual.
But I need someone who already did it.
if you can figure out how to downgrade it, go ahead. But as of yet, there's no way to root the official gingerbread update.

And how about the "goldcard" ? create one, and then install just lower version via recovery or something... I've read somewhere that u can install lower builds of OTA and then root the phone ... will that work? or i just missed something during lecture...
I believe that the desire hd gingerbread update has been rooted by means of downgrading. We just need to wait for someone to figure it out for us DZ users

I did that for rooting the 2.2.1 and downgranding to 2.2
Hope works for this one too.
Goldcard won't work, yet.
Stay tuned though, very soon a temp-root will be released, which will allow you to downgrade.

See http://fishporn.ca/vision.gingerbread.root.html for a channel log of the first successful exploit of 2.3.3 on a G2...
You have to downgrade firmware then reroot your basically

Ok so I came back to android after using an iPhone for a couple years. I had a Galaxy S that scarred me due to it's horribleness. I was into the whole custom ROM thing with it but largely have forgotten how to do all of that stuff.
Anyhow, while I bone back up on it, is anyone interested in me pulling off the 1.29.666.5 stock ROM? It seems to be a newer version than anything I see on the forum. If so, let me know how I can do it and I'll pass it along.

You will need to change apns-conf in htc framework, for use is it not in bell network only.

No its actually older. The 666 is regional (or operator), its the number after that indicated how old it is .5 is older than .12 for example. Its a 1.29 base, for 666 region, revision .5
Hey I have a bell HTC One that I already flashed..I would really appreciate it if you could find a way to upload the stock ROM in case I need to go back...
Thanks!
Interesting. So if I get this right. x.x.x.x is the way the firmware/software version is put together. so 1.29 is the base and doesn't change?
If so.. the 3rd octet. is the regional code?.. then the final one.. in my case is .7 is the revision?..
Which would mean that. 1.29.651.7 is older then 1.29.401.12?

Yes its older latest is .12.
Okay. I don't mind doing the reading to figure out how to pull it off my device. Can someone save me a couple seconds and point me to a link that shows me how to do this...? It is a bit more complicated without and SD card correct?
Thanks,

Can u guys pls upload the stock radio?
I didn't get my phone until after the ota update went live. It was apparently downloaded and didn't ask me for authorization to install. Or it shipped with it. I didn't check the version until I decided I wanted to root it.
Has anyone gotten root after this update? Without rolling back to the old version? I am a novice at this, and I'm not sure I want to try to roll it back. My only experience with this is a jailbroken iPhone, and the app did it all.
After q, the exe won't run it, and I'll have to try it manually.

Try ioroot 22 might work dont know.
Ioroot22 doesn't support d80010q. Manual is only way. I just don't trust my ability to un-brick it if there is an issue.
