same problem with other releases of android for photon. but i think i found a solution for this, when the volume gone down, i press vol down buttons a couple of time, then pres volume up. voice volume gets high

If I receive an SMS on just about every other phone I can hit the end call button and the SMS sound will stop; but it seems that on the XDA2 I have to put the volume all the way down... is there any other way to cut the sound when you are receiving an SMS?
If you go into settings/sounds and notifications/notifications you will see a drop down bar. You will find the sms notify function there.
Chris
No I know how to do that; but I want the sound to play so I will hear it, but once I get to it I want it to shut off instead of still continuing to play, it is like a 5 second clip, and if I hear it right away I don't want to listen to the rest of it.. make any sense?
Couldnt you use a sound file that has a short blip at the beginning then a long silence?
well of course I could use something really short, but I don't want to be checking my phone every 5 minutes to see if I didn't hear something especially in crowded places; I'm guessing that once the SMS sound starts it stops for nothing barring turning down the volume or putting it to vibrate?

I know what u mean. Just click down the volume "button" when it begins ringing. It is on the left side, above camera "button".
Satria
Do you mean to simply reduce the volume to nothing or does some of the ROM versions actually stop the SMS sound from playing when you click the volume down once?
For me I have no choice but to hold the volume down until the system sound is reduced to nothing, wait until I think the sound has stopped playing and then return the volume to the original level.
A real pain in the butt!!!
Yah I'm hoping a ROM version allows me to hit the volume down once or better yet hit the end call button like most every other phone to kill the sound once I know I've gotten a message.

Just one click and it will "mute" or "silence" the sound like in nokia HP when the sound was ringing. No need to reduce the volume to nil.
My ROM Vesion is:
ROM version: 1.03.00 USA
ROM Date: 09/24/03
Radio Version: 1.05.14
Protocol version: 1337.14
I think I know what you mean... the easiest way to do it is to press the power button
Cool that works

hi guys,
i still have a list of hd2 issue yet to be solve, can any kind soul reply with solutions here in sequence.
1) when i am on my wired earpiece, the volume is so max that it can be unbearable at times. i know i have the volume rocker to up and down the volume to suit my hearing but then if i lower my volume it also carried the low volume to the connected calls. is there a workaround for this?
2)when i am on a connected call, i can hear hissing sound which is so irritating and the other party on my line ask if i'm on speakermode. workaround? volume is soft as well by the way.
3)phone hangs alot and i have to remove the cover and battery, the usual standard procedure. i know it could be manila.exe accumulating resources so high that it can be disruptive. the only solution i have now is restart at periodic time to maintain phone usefulness.
4)Weather not updating.
5)Flash player on HD2 if there is.
i cant think of anymore now.. maybe later..
sometimes when i felt my phone was stable for a few days it hangs unexpectedly. but there so much tweaking that needs to be done on this phone that i have to take a risk bricking the phone. there is really endless tweaking to this phone. imagine if i were to hardreset and reinstall all tweaks and stuffs .. it will be a nightmare when i have gone so far in tweaking it.
thats WM..

soft reset and see again as i don't have this problem. you must adjust the ring not during the phone is ringing but before it tell me if it works

the video is not showing the ring control problem
So i bought my beloved hd2 yesterday and i'm facing a very annoying problem
It's like when i make or receive a call the volume would be very high(Acc to me the max) by default and reducing the volume would not help. The solution i found was to firstly press the volume UP and then the DOWN button. This problem is being faced by my other friends too. So is there any solution for this bug right now.
I have already tried out softwares like phonex but for no good

+1 , it's difficult to have a private conversation if it's always loud enough for the person next to you hear the person on the line.
i just flashed my HD2 to the evo rom last night and I'm experiencing problems with the headset volume being too low only during calls. anybody else experiencing the same problem? let me know if so. thanks in advance!!
all the other audio works perfectly fine, like when i play music it sounds loud and clear as with the sound alerts when they sound off
check the system volume. When you press the vol up/down you may have 1 or 2 volume bars. If you've got 2 (upper left will say system) make sure both bars are all the way up. If you've got 1 bar, ensure that one is up and then go to settings>sound & display and ensure the system volume is up along with all the other settings on that page. Hope this helps.
my system volume is all correct. i checked all that before i posted it. i guess im going to retry flashing it again but if it does the same thing im going to go with the chucky rom next... i heard a lot of good thing about it! thank for the reply tho man

I have the same problem. The system volume is up the ring volime is up before I get a call. However, when I get a call, via bluetooth or regular headset, the volume is only on the first 4 bars. I hung up on several people at first because i did not know they were on the line.
that sucks bro.. well. i guess its just a problem with the rom then! i just flashed to the chucky rom and its by far the best rom i feel so far!!! only down fall is that it doesnt have the analog clock but you can always just install it later on i guess..
OK, everybody is claiming that low in call volume is fixed after 3/8 kernel, but try this: dial a number by keypad (with dial pad tones enabled) and make a call. listen to the volume level. Then disable dial pad tones and call again. there should be a huge difference in volume level. You can experiment the same thing by quickly enabling and disabling speakerphone while in a call. I guess the problem is, when a sound is played back (like a ringtone or dialpad tone) in call volume is reduced for a short time. This can be eliminated for outgoing calls by disabling dial pad tone or waiting 2 seconds before pressing call. But for incoming calls, even disabling ringtone is no good. I also tried LVH v3.6 to boost the in call volume but no good. I tried almost all builds, ROM and radio combinations. With the new kernels, all have this problem. The most important function for me is the phone part, anyone has a solution for this?
Did you really need to make a new thread for this? Couldn't this been posted in one of the -post your questions here- topic?
Fix: No, there's no obvious fix (yet). Best fix is to use the supplied (or custom) ear-piece. Never any problem with that.
I felt the need to make a new thread as the old threads were referring to old kernels and most people tend to read only the first post. I wanted to present my observations, which I believe are not stated before, in the original post. Sorry for bothering you and thanks for the info.

I understand why you'd want to open a new thread for this, but this topic will just as much go down under as soon as it's solved or (more not-so-useless) threads get added later on.
Your observations + results could be stickied/hotlinked in the answer topic if they seem to be right-on the money. That way we keep it all nice and tidy, ánd more people would find a quick answer
I have the same exact problem. I hope there is a fix for this soon. Searched multiple times, but haven't found any answer.
I notice when you pick up an incoming call. The volume starts from soft and goes a little louder after about 2-3 seconds.
hi im also suffering from a low in call volume as well with my HD2 has there been any way to resolve this?
iam facing low rington and media volume , i can hardly hear my ringtone when on other room
I disagree with maseo I found this thread useful,
THANKS DUDE
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
hey, try this
when u wait for the other side to pick up the phone or u pressed the answer button when a call comes in
press on the Speaker button to use the speaker phone, then turn it off
repeat it again once
your volume will get lounder just like in WM.
Edit: oops. it was just a hardware failure, the front speaker had bad connection, there are another speaker in the chassis that worked.
thanks
i press the speaker on & off and then is more louder. i wish this will be fix soon.
IT WORKS!!
Hey, so I was/am having this problem but i tried the mute/unmute during a call and it worked. Incoming and outgoing. Only problem is seems to be low every new phone call. So i have to do the mute/unmute at the beginning of each call for it to be ok!
Hopefully there is a permanent fix soon?
Thanks for the post.
I have this same problem. I read somewhere someone having a fix on this.
One more thing, any of you guys had the robo-voice?
Got the same issue. Still no fix out there?
