[Q] Help, please! KF turns on and off when plugged into usb :( - Kindle Fire General

I used KFU to root my KF (with v6.3) and somewhere in downloading the twrp, something went wrong. The next thing was that it asked to press any key to continue; when I did, the cmd prompt disappeared. I disconnected the KF after some time which was the biggest mistake. When I plugged it back in, win 7 cannot recognize it anymore. I tried to install device drivers but it couldnt get through to the device. I ran the Kindle Unbrick Utility v1.1 and it also couldn't find the device. Now, when I plug it in the usb, Windows recognizes it as Kindle but it turns on and off so fast.
I would appreciate any help, please!! Thank you.

Your battery is probably dead and USB doesn't provide enough power. Plug it into the wall charger for a while then fix your drivers/bootmode etc.

Thanks for replying, soupmagnet
I am charging my KF now just to see how it behaves when it should be fully charged. It seems to turn itself off when I take out the charger even after a few minutes of charging. I'll give it a few hours... I'm already missing my KF (

Is my kindle fire bricked? Please help

Hi all, I plugged my CM7 modded fire to a new PC for charging. Then suddenly my fire froze and went black. I can't turn it back on, no matter how long I hold down the power button. I got nothing.
I plugged my fire to my PC and the firefirefire logo (the yellow triangle one) shows up and it keeps looping back to it. My pc doesn't recognize the fire so I cant perform the unbrick trick.
Can someone help? Many thanks!

I charged my KF overnight with USB from my Mac. Rougly 7 hours of charging whilst the device was sleeping. Went from 10% to a mere 80%.
The AC charger that comes with the KF is 1.8amp vs a PC typical USB of 0.5 to 1amp.
Many PC's won't properly charge the KF as a result.
so it's more like my KF is out of juice?
If you get no results after charging you will need to do a restore

ok thanks, I'll report back after a few hours of charging
I know this did not happen to you,but if you were stuck on the yellow triangle you would do this
1.Download kindle fire utility 2.
Unzip kindle fire utility
3.To install the driver, its easy, just plug in your kindle, when it pops up with the install wizard say pick from the location of: KindleFireUtility>drivers>kindle
4.run kindle fire utility,select 1 then select 1 again
That's it, hope it helps someone like me

Problem with kindle fire

I hope this is In the right area I rooted my fire and installed a custom rom added fff and the recovery ect well yesterday when I press power nothing happens when I plug it up to power it turns on flashes the press power for recovery square then shuts down flashes it again it does this over and over never ending it wont stay on long enough for me to do anything I tried letting it charge all night I tried different power cords when it plugs to my pc it does the same anyone have any ideas

Also want to add I rooted it with the utility over 3 months ago it was working fine til yesterday I made no changes to it

I would suggest trying this first as it sounds like you are in the recovery loop. Another useful tool is to "re-stock" it using this utility. Maybe not the best idea if you haven't done a recent backup but if you have tried everything else these usually work to get you going again.
Also it can't hurt to go through this thread and see if someone else has suffered the same problem. Between these 3 threads you should get your kindle working again.

You have a dead or near dead battery. Plug in the oem charger and see if it will charge up.

Try this and when you plug it up via the OEM charger does it turn on or does the light on the bottom at least light up?

Odd if it's turning on your PC should be able to make a connection long enough to adb it. Have you tried pressing the power button a few times to get into "recovery" mode? The exact instructions are "press the power button when the light dims green" however I have noticed it works for me if I just gently press the power button a few times once I turn it on.
Also have you tried a "hard reset"? Basically you hold the power button down for 20-30 seconds until the kindle turns completely off.
Barring this I am drawing a blank. I am only just now learning the ins and out of this system.

If it won't charge on its own, you're probably going to have to make/buy a factory cable and try it this way...

If you want a fuller picture of the discussion, go back to post #226 and start from there.
If you don't know what a factory cable is...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550999
Good luck.
EDIT: You might actually be able to do the above without a factory cable since you have FFF installed. This is all just "in theory" to me because I've never encountered this exact problem.
Try this:
Unplug your device
Get your command prompt ready (make sure you are in the directory that fastboot is located)
Type the following command ( but don't hit enter yet):
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000
Plug your USB cable into your computer first, then your device
When it comes on, within the first few seconds of seeing the yellow triangle, hit enter, then reboot.
Plug it into your charger.

[Q] Pls help me unbrick my KF!!

I installed Go Launcher HD onto my KF and after that the device's performance became very lagged. So, I shut down the device in order to restart it. And when I turn on the device, Kindle Fire logo appeared and then the screen went black. After that, I cannot turn on the device as nothing appears (even the orange-color power button light.) When charging, the device becomes hot (which I think it's charging correctly.) But when connecting to PC, nothing comes up (again, even power button light) and the device manager cannot detect the device's plugged in. That's why I cannot try unbricking my KF with other unbricking softwares out there as it cannot be detected on PC. Please help me how to solve the problem.. (already tried pressing power button for 20sec but nothing happened)
Firmware is 6.2.2.something and it's already rooted
Please..
Thanks a lott!!
Uninstall and delete your drivers
Find and reinstall new drivers.
Use command prompt and fastboot to change bootmode to 4000
Reboot
Get rid of KFU

I installed the driver using the one from KFU.. and when using cmd, the message keep saying "No device found" although I connected to the PC.. =(
plss...
Did you uninstall then reinstall your drivers?

yep, bro! I just tried... nothing's happened.. the PC still can't see the device attached.. Also, even power button is not showing orange color..
Make sure you have a good charge on the device. You may have to leave it plugged in for a day to make sure. Afterwards, if you aren't able to get your screen to turn on, your next step would probably be to get a factory programming cable.
If you are able to turn the device on then it's probably just a matter of issuing the appropriate commands.

Try This
I had something very similar happen to me the other night. I couldn't power on the device. Nothing would see the device......computer or wall charger. I didn't have a green or orange power light either.
I held the power button in for 30 seconds. Let go and hit it again and it came back to life. Seems simple I know but it worked for me.
I did a good charge.. tried leaving charged for at least half a day (pretty enough amount of charging time.. I think) nothing comes up beside becoming hotter when charging and yes.. I did tried pressing the power button for 30 sec several times.. it really shows up nothing..
Btw, what's the factory programming cable, bro?
A factory programming cable provides power directly to the device instead of the battery and forces the device into fastboot mode. Your problem is that you are already in fastboot mode and if I'm not mistaken, the device will not charge in that mode.
The factory cable gives power to the device so you can issue fastboot commands to change the bootmode so you can charge it normally (among other things).

So, please point me out.. should I try that one? cuz I'm from Asia and not okay to order that stuff.. should I really try with that one?
You have a couple of options, depending on how brave you are. You could make your own factory cable http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/146492-how-why-make-your-own-motorola-factory-cable.html Or you could CAREFULY open your device and make a temporary connection between the number 4 and 5 pins of the USB port. By opening your device you stand a real chance of causing irreparable damage.
But I can't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to find a "Motorola style factory programming cable" somewhere in your area. Search the web, you might get lucky. I wouldn't suggest doing anything that would get you in trouble with your local government though.

[GUIDE]New solution for the 5 second bootloop!(w/ NO TOOL)

Hi, i have never opened a new thread,
but this time i want to share my solution for the 5 second bootloop.
If your kindle fire is not turned on and it keeps showing yellow triangle and blinking when you try to charge, this is the solution for you.
I experienced same issue today and googled and search xda.
but i could not find any easy solution without other cable or tools.
I accidently? find this solution so it may not work on all cases and may be cause some other problem, but it worked fine for me.
Solution
1. Connect your kindle fire cable to the wall charger first, but
do not connect with KF yet.
2. hold the power button for 3seconds
(nothing will happen as it does not have enough power)
3. keep press the button and connect the kindle fire
4. done.
Even if the charger is connected, the KF will not turn on.
So the power is not wasted and the KF will be charged.
Leave it for at least 30mins.
and then turn it on
Congratulation! Your kindle fire is BACK.
