Fast Capture on the Xperia Arc S - Xperia Arc General

Does anyone know if the Arc (S) is getting the same Fast Capture feature as the Xperia S with the official ICS update?

it does not

No because the zero shutter lag is hardware related

still relates to hardware wake time of the camera. sorta
so in short i would say negatory.
Pvy.

Well, I wouldn't expect it to open as fast as on the Xperia S, but still it would certainly be faster than waking the device up, unlocking the screen and only then opening the camera...
Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk

It should definitely be faster as we would get the option to unlock straight to the camera in ICS.
Swyped from my SE Xperia arc (LT15i) using Tapatalk 2

It's a good idea, this is a quite useful feature, which fully utilizes arc's dedicated button. Better have options: turn off; fast capture; fast video recording.

It does not
I don't understand why sony removes that funtion

Marketing...
If we had the same functions of the Xperia S on our Arc, why would we want to buy their new product?
We wouldn't.
And that's not of Sony's interest. They want us to feel tempted to buy it.
It's all about profit.

You don't think so, but I do.
I'm happy with my Arc S, but I really miss this feature.
Obviously, that's not the only thing I envy on the XS. There's the full-HD 12Mp camera, the presence of an HD front camera, the dual-core processor, the design, the UI, the battery et cetera. But none of these would be enough to make me trade my Arc S for XS, if I had Fast Capture on my Arc.

Yes, it works but you need to wake the screen first, by the home button or power button and press the camera shutter.
It works with slide unlock, does not work if you have a PIN, password or pattern unlock.

But we need to settle for power button for sound on/off until someone makes a mod.

Why not? I think a lot of ppl would be pleased, and honestly, it looks good, better than the Cyanogen versions. I like sony's menu style.
yeah but it won't be as good in performance, and it would take months to optimize it

It doesn't make sanse... X10 is much more similiar to Arc than our X8 is. (Talkin' about processor, screen res., RAM...)
So stop complaing. We have racht's gingerbread and it's awesome, yea I know camera is disabled, but ROM is doing the job very very well... and I hope camera will be fixed soon. It should be fixed. It WILL be fixed

Xperia play vs iphone4

My main requirement is gaming, music and good application support.Which will be better of the two.
I wouldn't get the play. From what I've read, and from what people have told me, the screen is terrible...that being said, go with another android phone! The samsung galaxy s2 is one of the highest rated phones I've ever seen. reviews have been insanely good

I have the play in the MediaMarkt tested and the screen was actually very good.
But I would much prefer the GalaxyS2, because its a very cool phone.
I've tried the play, yes, the screen could be better, but its better than X10's, and the gaming controls are just awesome! (and I don't even game)

Xperia Mini small size, 1GHz cpu (overclockable up to 2GHz), 512 MB RAM, ICS update from SE, official CyanogenMod support, multitouch (i really miss this on my synaptics X8), good price - cca 150 euros
Xperia Play €149 here
Official CyanogenMod and gets official ICS from SE too!

I think mine will be SEX Mini Pro / SEX Ray. but I think its kinda complicated to root(is it? I mean downgrade etc ). I'll buy a phone that got 100% support from CyanogenMod!
I am going for ARC or ARC-S, which is going to fit my pocket.
1. What about Xperia neo V ?
2. Will it get official ICS update or not ?

you know what grinds my gears?... the xperia E!

I am a little upset that the xperia E comes with official Android 4.1 JB having less specs then the xperia play and they get jellybean! not ICS straight to jellybean! both specs are identical but the xperia E has a lower Gpu and internal memory AND STILL! I understand that sony said that they wanted to leave this phone as a gaming phone but at least make it a optional update on your own risk or something

I think the problem is even if Sony released JB for our phone game development would still be slowing down like it has been lately. Plus all the older XPO releases like asphalt 6 and star battalion wouldn't work. Not like a lot of people play those. I still do. Is it possible to utilize some aspects of the xperia e's firmware?

thats why i say at your own risk, for people who might not want to game in the xperia play
Wouldn't be the first time a weaker phone got a newer FW than Xperia Play... we've already established that the reason Xperia Play didn't get ICS/JB was because it would throw the software compatibility way off.
If you want a good example of how bad it would've been, just look at all Evo V owners who are in an absolute fury because the vast majority of 3D games were made to operate under 2.3. The way I see it, Sony did the smart thing by opting for a more stable ecosystem.
The thing is that a lot of app developers are abandoning gb, and making apps for 4.0+, even Google them self, example, chrome browser a great browser but not for gb.
I'd even settle for a decent official ics from Sony, I mean the developers here are doing a better job than them

The Xperia Play has a Scorpion S2 CPU, it's old. The Xperia E is a Cortex A5. Scorpion might be faster in raw flops but the A5 has more features. Snapdragon is quite poor by today's standards and the Xperia E will probably beat it in many ways.

They don't do it on purpose. 2.x API just doesn't support anywhere near as much as 3.0+.

Hey dan!
and i see what you mean by the differences, i seen some benchmarks
I am going to admit many people know more about the inner workings of hardware. But I am sure that with the xperia e's 320x240 resolution also helps in benchmarks as it's not having to push as much in terms of resolution. Although I know that is only one aspect of a bigger picture.

My friend has an Xperia J which is running on stock ICS and I can tell you it is laggy as hell, my phone with Krisdee's Hybrid ROM is much more stable. I know this has nothing to do with the Xperia E but Xperia J has similar hardware as our Xperia Play. Maybe he has a faulty device, I don't know.

Wow, they don't even provide a source for their 'update'.
CPU/GPU upgrade for the moment is meeningless for me at least, good part was HTC ONE class display, but bad part is "it colud not make it in real phone"
Guys it doesn't matter if there is an updated Z. We all know that honami will be the flagship of H2. And when honami is announced, everyone is just going buy that and forget the updated Z.
Everyone will buy honami, everything is new and built from the ground in Japan.
