[Q] Help needed!

Ok so here's the thing. This morning when I woke up I dropped my phone on the floor and the battery flew out.Initially I thought it was nothing but later it started rebooting without any good reason. I tried restarting, it would stay on for a bit then it would go down again. I am(was) running CyanogenMod 7 on a Samsung Galaxy SI. I want to reflash it with Odin as it won't start anymore.At first it would just boot loop but now it won't even get past the first logo. The tricky part is that my PC won't recognize it , all I get is Unknown Device code 43 yada yada BS! I tried alot of drivers, I tried the have disk method with the usb driver from SDK Tools , nothing worked ! Please, give me some suggestions about what I should try more because honestly this is beyond my expertise in this domain.

code 43, has more to do with Hardware, its about your cable and PC ...so check cable, try switch to another USB port

I suggest that you connect the Controller to a different USB port and check if you have the same issue.
If this does not work, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the USB controller.
To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, type Device manager and open device manager.
2. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
3. Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers.
Disable and enable the USB device:
1. Click on start and type devmgmt.msc.
2. Right click on the caution sign on the USB.
3. Select disable and reboot the computer.
4. Enable the device after reboot.
Also make sure that you download and install the latest version of Software for this. Here is a link you can follow to download the Software:

Nothing worked. I even tried going to another PC but still I get unknown device... Is it still worth the struggle or should I just save up for a new phone ?

try and borrow another original samsung USB cable to test first, this is a major culprit, as numerous people including myself have experienced
what happens is one of the pins on the micro usb plug of rolls in and gets broken , also check your USB slot a good cleaning with a brush and alcohol would be good fro the connection ( do it when you have removed battery)

Got another USB cable still nothing... It's very weird, it's like nothing I heard off or read on the forums... Is there any method of connecting to the mobile using SDK manager ? I'm not really familiar to working with the SDK manager.

was your cable an original samsung cable, IF not, many common cable do not work, due to pin configurations
For ADB, you still need connection with USB cable

Here's another thing I could try. If I go to Device Manager - Right Click on Unknown Device - Update Driver Software - Browse I can choose from a list of Samsung Drivers... The question is , which one do I have to choose for my Galaxy S ? Maybe it will work like this

that was the solution given in my first post, have you not tried them all yet? samsung drivers were also attached on it and what PC software do you use XP or ?

In that link it requires your phone to be working and able to go in USB mass storage mode or debugging mode ... My phone can only stay in download mode . I use windows 7 x64 version .

I think you have misunderstood it, there are many solutions mentioned there in, cause I am the one who wrote it ..your option was to try them all to see which one solved it
for win 7 . download this driver http://www.4shared.com/zip/0LQRmsMm/usb_driver.html and give it a go, if the other failed

Tried everything from your guide...even from the microsoft sites...Still can't get my device to be recognized...If I use the Usb driver you sent it won't let me use them even if I manually choose it for my device. Don't really know what to do more honestly other than throw it away and get another phone

problem is, its not the phone but its either, the micro USB slot or cable or your PC, if you have another USB cable and a lap top or a friends PC might be able to resolve your problem

Defy+ No USB connection

Hi everyone,
My phone isn't showing up as USB device when connected to computer. I have tried installing latest CM 10 quarx's ROM but no success (I transferred new ROM through wifi - Dropspot app). Could this be a hardware problem or something else?
I have already tried using a different cable and restarted my phone(many times) and computer (once).
Any help will be appreciated!

Please helps. I have even tried with CM10 05.12.12 build(I am sure usb mount was working with this build) but no change.

I too faced a similar problem,. try connecting to different computer to check., IF its working in other computers.,
Then remove all mobile related drivers from Windows Device manager(Show hidden devices).,
The problem would be solved

[Q] tablet/PC can't connect/A500 'Boot Verified Failed...' error at boot

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have the following error at boot and the tablet stops at this error: Boot Verified Failed...
Short story is that I have spent the last two weeks trying to correct this error. No matter what I do I can not get past the first step in anything recommended on this site which is to connect to a PC. For some reason I can not get the tablet to connect at all, more specifically I can not get the PC to acknowledge it is connected. I am using the micro usb slot on the tablet. I have tried all the acer drivers, 4 operating systems including ubuntu, win xp, win 7 and win 8 and all of this on two different computers to be sure that it wasn't the PC being the problem.
Could someone help me how to figure out what I am doing wrong or what I am not doing right? Or does this tablet error mean that the tablet will never talk to a PC. I have tried APX mode as well as various combinations as per recommendations on this forum with the rocker, power and reset.
Hopefully someone can help me.

So it doesn't look like anyone can help me with this problem but perhaps someone can help me with getting a schematic of the inside of the tablet so I can perhaps fix the micro usb port myself unless someone knows another reason why I can't get it to work. Strange problem and one I've not heard of before.
First try a different usb cable, they are not created equal these things!
Ensure usb debug. is enabled in Settings.
Connect yr tab to yr pc. Open device manager and check the android usb device driver is installed. If it has you should be good to go.
If it doesn't. ..head to the cpuid guide in my sig. There's a whole section near the end which deals with driver issues and how to set up and test adb etc.
I do have a schematic somewhere, got it
off here so try a search.
Oh, one other thing. ..u didn't mention adb drivers. U can download them from the cpuid guide.

Cyanogenmod 10.1.2 can't use USB host mode, if you need to use USB host mode use Cyanogenmod 7 and the nook color tools app to enable it

To expand on this: CM7 was based on top of an older Linux kernel version (2.6.32), on top of which a lot of hard work was done to enable USB host mode. In porting to CM9/10/10.1, we moved to a newer kernel version (3.0), and some of that work wasn't brought over. There aren't any technical barriers to enabling USB host mode on newer kernels -- someone "just" needs to spend the time to go through the patches for host mode in 2.6.32 and figure out what bits need to be forward ported to 3.0. (In case you haven't figured out yet, time is the scarcest asset in a volunteer project like this one ...)

"S3C USB Host" refers to the USB OTG hardware included in Samsung S5PC110 ("Exynos3") devices, including the Nexus S and most Galaxy S series phones. It's not applicable to OMAP devices like the Nook Color, which use different, much more mature USB OTG hardware and drivers from Mentor Graphics and TI (musb_hdrc).

THANKS to EVERYONE for responding and clarifying the situation with USB Hosting mode on CM 10. The information saves me a lot of frustration in trying to get my Nook Color to recognize my USB devices. At least I can get USB Hosting working if I use CM7; that's an option, so thanks a lot for pointing it out. I'm a newbie and struggling to learn Android related stuff. If I had the technical know-how, I'd love to help solve the USB Host issue with CM10. For me at least, USB hosting would be a valuable feature in CM10 and beyond. I really like how well CM10 runs on my device with a SanDisk 8Gb micro SDHC card.
To get some of my devices (eg. keyboard) working on CM10, I may try the bluetooth capability in CM 10. However, I read somewhere that the range of bluetooth was limited on the Nook Color. I think that was awhile ago when developers initially unlocked bluetooth on the Nook Color. Is bluetooth range still a significant issue?

There is a limited range for bluetooth, it was actually hidden in the official rom and not enabled until some developers found it out.
IF you really want USB host on a newish android version, you might want to use CM9, it still has usb host and I was able to use it a few months ago for a project. But there is limited opengl support and it might have a few minor bugs in it.

Thanks for the tip about USB hosting mode and CM9. I'll download CM9 and see how it works with my Nook Color and USB peripherals.

Please provide more detail about how you enabled USB hosting mode in CM9. I downloaded and installed CM9, but I can't figure out how to enable USB mode. I tried an app called "Nook Color Tweaks," but the app clearly states that it does not work with CM9. What steps did you take to get USB hosting on your device running CM9? Please clarify. Thank you!

I'm sorry,the app I was referring to was Nook Color Tweaks. Whoops :laugh:
A few of the options will not work on CM9 but the USB host will/should work.
I haven't used CM9 in a while now but if usb host doesn't work on the rom I linked to then you may want to use a ROM from eyeballer's unofficial CM9 nightly builds and try the latest opengl build. I had used eyeballer's rom in the past and it did work with USB host.

I think the changes need to be made in encore_defconfig (or encore _cm11_defconfig). I can try to make the changes but these files are automatically generated in the make process. Could you point me to the configuration files where this happens? I think it must be in device/bn/encore.

[Q] Why the OTG function does not work?

Hello,
My phone version is Android Original 4.3 (JWR66V), has flashed kernal r178, and the ziddey-otg patch.
I connect a USB disk with my phone (PC provides power), however, there is no file in usbdisk0, and the usb storage manager indicates that "failure to connect the device".
Does any one know how to resolve this problem? Thanks in advanced.
