[Q] Why the OTG function does not work? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My phone version is Android Original 4.3 (JWR66V), has flashed kernal r178, and the ziddey-otg patch.
I connect a USB disk with my phone (PC provides power), however, there is no file in usbdisk0, and the usb storage manager indicates that "failure to connect the device".
Does any one know how to resolve this problem? Thanks in advanced.

it seems that the problem is from my USB disk...XD
Thanks all your help...

[Q] accessing phone with USB

Hello,
this might be a stupid question, but when I connect my X5 with a USB cable to my pc, and push the button "Turn on USB storage" nothing happens.
No drive letters or anything appears ( Pc XP, Android version 2.2.1 , build: U8800V100R001C00B136 )
For now I transfer pictures with the program Hi Suite ( that works fine ) so I think I have the correct drivers, ... ?
I know there are ftp programma's where I can transfer my data with, but I want to use my phone as a USB mass-storage, any suggestions or apps that I can use to fix this?
Thanks !

When I connect the USB cable it does not give prompt that "Open USB Storage Now?". If I go to status bar notification to see if the connection made or not and it does not show "USB storage On".

Hi there,
Finally the problem is solved with the help of Powerofthink from Izmir who gave me the solution which is given below:
Answered by Powerofthink from Izmir ON 01JUN12 at 10:07pm
ICS Port that you use still doesn't natively support USB Mass Storage.
Use this .apk please.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=819888&d=1324131985
..And follow this page for this ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389375
Mainly what I did is to download net.bexton.android apk from the google browser and install the program. Google search net.bexton.android apk and download it on the phone. Once download finished tap the application to install it. New icon for the application will be on the page.
Million thanks to Powerofthink for the help

I dont get a usb connection to my omnia 7
I tried it on 3 pcs 1 with 64bit 2 with 32bit and all usb ports
On all pcs I installed the usb driver
All pcs recognize my phone but the software gives this error:
[Error Description]:
Please make sure that your device is connected to your computer.
also make sure that right drivers are installed (SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe)
Try to connect device to different USB port and also you can try to reboot PC.
Also you can try to exclude USB hubs.
[Info]: USBWorkDMLI_SAM.cpp (173)
anyone knows what i am doing wrong ?
regards chris
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem as chris1005, with an Omnia 7.
I strictly followed the instructions to install Magldr:
1) Installing Usb Samsung Drivers
2) Put my phone in download mode
3) Connect it to my pc
4) Launch "DMLI for Samsung V1"
And when i reach the "Connect" step, i get the "173" error (view attachment).
I run on a Win7 x64, my phone is developer unlock.
Thanks for the answers
I had the same problem, but it was solved when I used a USB port on the back (connected to the motherboard) instead of one on the front (connected trough a hub).
Hi,
Thanks for your response, but i tried this method, it doesn't work too, whether the usb on motherboard or the usb hub.
:/.
I don't know where this is blocking.
Is there any other solution to flash a rom on an Omnia 7 than the DFT solution ?
Thanks.
I flashed back from 7.8 to 7.5 and had the same problem again, but ater I rebooted my computer, it worked.
Try to follow this: http://windowsphonehacker.com/articles/tutorial_how_to_install_magldr_and_custom_roms_on_samsung_devices-02-08-12

[Q] USB Host driver NOT found

Hey Folks,
I'm currently on OMNI Rom (Nightly) version 20140326 on my Int Galaxy S2, having this issue of USB Host driver missing.
I don't get a popup when I connect to any USB devices. I'm able to connect to USB flash drive, but unable to connect to my DSLR camera.
I dont have this issue on my Galaxy S i9000 phone which is flashed with 20140314 nightly. When I try to go to Settings>Storage>USB Computer connection, to change the settings, it doesn't allow me to go in
Previously I was on CM10 & had the same issue. I'm attaching the screenshot from the app, 'USB Host Controller' & from Phone status.
I checked with 'DSLR dashboard' app developer & this rom works fine for him. Appreciate your help to have this resolved.

I found the solution myself...actually it seems childish....In the Storage settings there is a option called USB computer connection. I checked the option Media Device(MTP) back and it seems working fine....I think I should check my IQ....recently its degradinggggg.........
