[Q] GPS only works randomly?! - Galaxy 3 General

Hey guys,
I have discovered a strange behaving of the GPS on my Galaxy 3. I'm running the CM 7.2 alpha 8 with the G3Mod kernel (by Arakmar) + ICS Look (but I don't think that this theme is causing the problem). And I have a modded gps.conf, I can upload it, if it's needed.
My GPS works great, if it works. While chilling on a window bench it catches up to 10 satellites, and 6-7 with fix. But this only happens sometimes. About 4 of 5 times I try locating myself, no satellite is found, even after 5 minutes. But if one satellite is found (after restarting GPS and GPS-App: GPS Test or GPS-Status), it locates me very clear after 60-90 seconds.
I tried this maybe 15 times the last hours (weather is ok for GPS). I just got 3-4 fixes in the hole time. I rebooted after some tries and updated AGPS-Data a few times.
I wouldn't say, that this is a hardware problem because when it fixes, it fixes nearly perfect. :/
Does anybody else have this behavior with his/her Galaxy 3? Can anyone tell me, what's wrong, or/and how I can fix this?
Thx, and sorry for my bad english

Try to restart GPS/AGPS service and turn on/off the airplane mode.
Also it's helps to take off the battery for several seconds on some phones =)

GPS problems with Nexus 4 and "external" `Navi-Apps?

Hi together,
I've the Nexus 4 with the newest stock rom (JWR66Y) and stock kernel (3.4.0-perf-gf43c3d9).
In Google Maps I don't have any problems with the gps connection, everything is working fine.
But in other Navi-Apps like TomTom or Navigon, sometimes the gps signal is "jumping" (like I'm in another position, or sometimes the signal is completely away for a short time).
Is this "normal" or could another kernel/rom help with this problem?
Best regards,
Shadow128
Noone has these failures?
Stock Rom with Franko kernel and no problem with Igo or Sygic navigators.
Maybe you should try these also.
Unleashed by my Nexus 4
OK, i'll test the franco kernel.
Thx for your help!
I've to push up this thread, because the problem is still there.
I tried several franco kernel, but problem is further existing.
I installed also fresh stock rom, but sometimes the signal is jumping for several minutes.
Then it is working for a few minutes, and then it jumps again.
On long street that is no problem, but in city it is not possible to navigate with it :-/

Anyone had GPS fix problems?

Has anyone had problems with GPS fix at all? I was using my Z1 in the car today with TomTom Go and I was getting problems with it losing GPS positioning. The app would just stop updating location. At first I put it down to it being just another bug in the app - it seems pretty buggy. But after giving up on TomTom and using Google Maps that app also reported loss of GPS fix, even though it had a good clear view of the sky. So I suspected a hardware fault. But at a traffic light I managed to pull up the app GPS Test and it showed good reception with 25 satellites in view and 13 in use - yet no fix. Which suggests to me there is some error in the GPS software handling. This is the one problem I have had with the phone so far, anyone else?
No issues with my GPS, Sigyc works like a charm!!!
Enviado desde mi Z1 mediante Tapatalk
No problems

No problem with the GPS with mine.
Try the app "GPS Fix" it always fixed GPS issues with my N4
Had this problem already 2 times, rebooted the device, and error is gone, it's not very stable in terms of software, my Honor 6 was much more stable in terms of software, only the ui sucked bigtime
I seem to have serious GPS fix problems. None of my navigation apps works correctly probably because GPS system loses fix for 10 or more seconds at a time for unknown reasons.
I can have pretty good satellite situation with great 3D Fix:

And a moment later with satellite situation almost the same there's no fix for several seconds:

I need to test it more, but I'm quite unhappy at this moment. Any ideas how to fix that?
No problems.
GPS used quite often and works OK.
Works perfectly fine with Google maps
Cleard GPS cache (with some GPS Fix app), rebooted and GPS works as intended. Problem solved.
No problems with gps

I have got similar problem. Waze or any GPS nav is loosing GPS signal. I have monitored via GPS app satellites nad signal is generally very weak. Lasting long time to connect and during navigation is GPS for application dropping. While signal in Waze is lost I was checking with GPS app and 3Dfix was lost.
I'm really pissed and sending phone back for repair...
Do you have same experience somebody else...?
- PS: I have rooted phone with king root but can't tell if GPS worked well before or not, because rooted in second minute after I have unboxed
I noticed a very bad GPS reception in larger cities and especially in my car using Google Maps. Sometimes it was losing the fix altogether and often it was way off on the position.
Edit: Tried the Fast Fix APP from Fdroid and a GPS Fix APP that suppostly clears the GPS cache. Will See how this works out.
Works perfectly fine with Google maps, here,
I have a problem with GPS to. Satellites-Signal is very good. Fix is ok. When using a Nav-app like Sygic, TomTom or Navigon after 2 or 3 minutes the signal is gone. Here or Google maps working fine. Any idea?
I've got the same problem. maybe every 15-20 minutes google maps tells me "GPS Signal lost"... And then it seems to stay lost until I close the app and open it again. Very annoying, especially when you're in a city and got a lot of turns coming up -.-
Same problem for me, I dowload lots of GPS apps to try to fix it, but nothing works. Most of the time it works outside cities.
I love my Zuk Z1, but it's very annoying because I use Waze for my work everyday. If nothing is done I'll probably change it.
For information I'm in France. Can it be a location problem ?
I tried to fix the problem with many "GPS fix" app but found that simple reboot solves the issue temporarily. I don't know for how long exactly because I use GPS every couple of days. There's definitely an issue here with the GPS.
As far as I know this hasn't solution, so I reclaimed my Z1 under warranty. I must say I'm quite disappointed.
I do have the same problem with ZUI new version. I have seen the bbs.zuk forms site many peoples has reported this issue. I was using CM12 and it was working fine. But definitely it's much better than CM 12
Works perfectly fine with Google maps here too.
Only small problems while on the train, but I think that's normal.

GPS Problems

Hi there my GPS was very quick under Kitkat with immediate fix and perfect compass. Under Stock Lollipop it still worked well enough. Since I use [5.0.2][D802] Google Edition 1.5 my compass doesn't work anymore and GPS doesn't fix at all or takes 10 minutes shows wrong location and looses signal again
I don't know whether the problem is the ROM or that my phone fell down hundreds of times.
Anyway I already tried the apps fasterGPS, gpsStatus and TopNTP without success and did the cardboard mod hardware wise.
Please help I want to play Pokemon Go

EXTREMELY poor GPS signal

Anybody else experiencing this with China Rom?
It's so bad that anywhere I open the Google maps app and start Navigating it stays stuck at the same location.
I just got the phone a few days ago, and I still have about 12 days of waiting time for bootloader unlocking. I'm very frustrated with the CH Rom, my samsung wearable app does not start, keyboard sucks, lots of bloatware that cant be removed, etc.

There is a magisk module GPS FIX or something like that, it should help with GPS locking if you are rooted.

Since Android 11 some apps stopped working in background

Hello,
Every time i am driving my car i am using Blitzer for speed cameras and Amigo for warnings on the speed limit. Since i updated the S10+ with Android 11 i have noticed that as soon the display goes dark, both apps stop working. With this, i mean they both lose GPS connection so i do not receive any warning. Did not have any problem before the update, now i do not know what to do. I've tried everything. They are both NOT battery optimized, with all permissions granted, an still nothing works. What is worse is that even the GPS connection is not so stable as before. It takes a lot more time to get a GPS signal although i did not change any setting.
Does anyone had the same problems?
Thanks in advance!
Later edit
So, for those interested, i have solved the problem for both apps.
For Amigo (by TomTom) the solution i have found it was switching the Location permission from "Only when it's in use" to app to "Always". It started working again in the background.
For Blitzer.de i have the solution by accident. The culprit was a Bixby routine that was suppose to start the app as soon as it was connecting to my car's bluetooth.
As soon as i started the app manually everything started to work again in the background.
I would like to point out again that both apps were working just fine until i have updated to Android 11.
Hope that my findings will help also someone else having similar problems.
Happy Easter !
