USB has been broken for a while....at the time i had Z's FreeX10 2.2 rom installed and running well recently updated to FreeXperia CM7.0.1 GB2.3.3 rom but realized that it had some bugs....accelerometer lag and a few other things. I was stuck on BB52 so couldn't flash newer GB 2.3.5 roms
Yesterday I found another rom that I decided to give a shot, this would put me back to froyo CM6.4, but this rom had GB features, and it was said to work on BB52 so i downloaded and flashed following the steps exactly. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151933
Now my phone is constantly rebooting....no microSD (not mounted) no WIFI(error) no 3G...and as mentioned above my USB is broken. Can't get into xRecovery. When the phone loads i have a few minutes to browse before it reboots...so I have a short window to change some things.
I'm pretty sure there's nothing I can do to fix this, so it's basically a brick, but if you guys have any ideas...i'm willing to try your suggestions.
Thanks!
U probably need a baseband patch from coborato. Your probably on achjotans Rom. If u.can some how download that patch and flash it in recovery before it reboots you'll b fine. But honestly id get the phone repaired if I were u. These new gingerbread roms are amazing

Yeah that's the one i'm on right now. I did flash the baseband patch before booting into the new rom....that didnt help...and now I cant load into xRecovery. Tried repairing the USB port twice now, both times no luck. Official SE repair shop said that it's not repairable since the problem is with the main board. Ah well...gonna have to wait till my contract runs out Thanks for your suggestion tho.
Before when xRec had this "Unable to access SD card" issue...
I found an MicroSD USB adapter where i could just plug in my SD card into it, and it becomes an USB stick.
From that i just transfered a new rom/etc, then just unplug and jam it back into my phone.
Not sure if that helped at all but ya, if you have a broken USB Connection... that'll be a smart alternative~
Good luck mate,
J.T
I'd probably go with the above suggestion, get a micro sd card reader and transfer the needed files that way, boot into recovery and install them. Or whip out your tools and disasemble your phone and re-solder the broken usb if possible. Good luck with any way you choose!
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
thats so bad
If you could of access recovery that would of had been great because you could buy a card reader insert your sd install desired rom and flash whit recovery but not so sure about baseband since you have broken usb :/

So I spoke with T-Mobile yesterday and they agreed to send me a new phone for exchange because of a faulty pin on my connector. I can charge my device but it will not detect a USB storage device when plugged in.
It just occured to me that I cannot ODIN to stock! Is there a method that does not involve a Phone to PC connection which will allow me to make this thing appear to be stock? (I am on custom rom and recovery obviously).
If not, what will happen to me if I just send in my current phone with the rom/recovery it is on? Do they actually check? My damage/issue is physical and not software related at all so would my warranty still be voided?
Any input would be immensely helpful! Thanks folks
Last time i sent an Android phone in, i accidentally forgot to remove the custom ROM!
They sent me the new phone, and I've never heard from them since

This happened to me too. Out of desperation I used a toothbrush and just scrub the crap out of the port, and it worked! Worth a try

Got the same issue on my wifes GS2. I never rooted her phone, so at least I don't have to return it to stock. As far as I know, her USB port has never worked except for charging.

Next steps would be to somehow return to stock recovery and remove SU without ODIN.
How would I go about doing these?
Hello... this is my first post... and I did search for a solution but was not succesful...
I have a 1 month old s4. I got some water on it so I let it dry out for a few days and it turned on again.... but now it will not recognize my sim card... it says please insert sim.. when I try to turn on mobile data...it says insert sim card to access network.
The weird thing is the sd card tray works... and they are in the same assembly. The whole sim and sd tray assembly was replaced. Still no luck.
I did go into about device. And this is the information I see :
Android 4.2.2
Baseband unknown
Kernel 3.4.0-453947
Imeo unknown.
This is not a stolen device or anything... the water sensor is red.

windows does show my samsung sgh-i337 under my devices...but kies does not.
it says this device is not supported by kies 2.0
make sure that your device is supported and try again.
ive now downloaded odin, and am downloading the firmware frrom samsung-updates.com.
it gave me 2 options, stock firmware, and kernel... i just picked stock firmware.

HI also have a S3 i9300 that went into water and now it dosent recognize sim cards and has the imei null/null and baseband unknown problem. Did you manage to fix it on your phone?
Another xda contributor says there is nothing we can do and that it cannot be fixed with those boxes that those guys who unlock phones have, not even by samsung... Is this true? I ordered a SIM/SD tray replacement on amazon but I bet that won't help at all...
Cheers
Guys, you may want to try this before going forward with anything hard...
So, this same thing happened to me. I had Valhalla Black flashed on my phone, it started to glitch (reloading the home screen every 3 seconds or so and not loading any apps), so I did a CWM restore and it went into a boot loop (the splash screen would freeze and never load the ROM).
So, I used Heimdall One-Click to flash the stock Gingerbread ROM, and my IMEI/etc were all unknown. I saw all these options to use hex editors and stuff to redo the nv_data.bin file and was just about to do them...but...
I decided to check and see if it was the SIM card that went haywire. I put the SIM into another phone and the phone ended up getting service, so I thought, "Oh, sh**, I'm screwed...I'm going to have to do all this IMEI repair stuff..."
In the end, I put the SIM back into my t959v after taking it out of the old phone I was checking it with...AND BAM, IT WORKED! IMEI and everything are back and I'm getting service.
Point of the story: check your SIM card in another phone and see if you get service, then put it back in your other phone and see if you get service again.
FU** YEAH!!! No tough stuff afterall! Reflashing Valhalla Black and restoring apps, settings, etc. from Titanium...
I have no imei. I side loaded NB1 firmware. Noticed it was gone. I got the stock tar and loaded that from odin. Still no imei.
Any ideas?

Sorry found out today its unlocked. My friends tmobile sim worked
unknown baseband & IMEI
I only downloaded the Active apk and didn't have a chance to use safe strap yet (to busy) so everything was working fine for almost 2 weeks then wifi went out (it would try to connect but never could) then within the next 24 hours the S4 Active quit recognizing the Sims card. Now i show no baseband version or no IMEI number (just about everything says unknown). Can someone please help me with this or point me in the right direction because I have had to go back to SHE I337UCUFNB1 and I can't root it at all. But I would take either one rooted I just have to send one back to att ASAP. Thanks in advance and sorry if posted in wrong area. If it is in wrong area just let me know and I'll go to the right area. Thanks again.

I have an sgh-i337 with no baseband, i've tried to flash first with: I337_UCUFNB1_Modem_RockRatt, then with I337_UCUFNC1_Modem_RockRatt but in both cases i still with no baseband, somebady could help me?
I take no credit for this method, I felt it needed to be re-posted here. I snagged it from Shabbypenguins post over on Phandroid. It was originally for the Boost Mobile SGS3, but works for the Note 3 and several other devices.
What do I mean by hard brick?
Your phone doesn't power up, visibly charge, reach a boot-screen of any kind or go into download mode. Basically, it acts like it won't power on at all. Hard bricked. Even if you nuke the aboot, sbl1, boot, etc... like I did, this method will revive your phone!
This is a great safety net for those who want to test bootloader exploits!
What do you need?
Bricked Galaxy Note 3 (SM-900A)
microSD card (all data will be erased from this sdcard)
microSD card reader
Linux / OS X (can be running in vmware/virtual box on windows)
Unbrick Image (MI9)
Stock Odin Files
Unbricking Instructions
Boot Linux / OS X / VMware / Virtual Box
Download the unbrick image listed in the item's needed list
Open terminal on your OS
Insert your microSD card into the reader
Plug your microSD card reader into your computer
Run
Code:
dmesg | tail
you should see something that mentions where it is mounted via /sdX
Code:
sudo dd if=/<path_to_debrick.img> of=/dev/sdX
again where X is the microSD card ignoring the partition numbers as they should be overwritten
I had to do this a couple times for the image to actually take
Code:
sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdX
should show approximately 29 partitions (I just unplugged and replugged the usb, lots of windows popped up from the partitions)
remove the microSD card from the reader
remove the battery and sim from your device
insert your unbrick microSD into your phone
insert the battery and press the power button, it should boot
reboot into Download mode either via adb or Volume Down + Home + Power
use stock odin files to restore your phone
Thanks to the following:
Shabbypenguin for pointing me to this!
gTan64 for finding the fix while repairing their friend's phone.
KAsp3rd for showing Shabbypenguin this and assisting him throughout it
Thanks so much, you guys rock!
This is the good stuff!

We have several people with unrecoverable boot looped devices over in the 900T forum because of failed nandroid restores. They can get to download mode but flashing via odin to stock does not fix it. They are stuck in boot loops even after flashing via odin. In your opinion, would the unbrick image adapted to the 900T help them?

I remember on the note 1 sometimes even after restoring stick via odin you would get a bootloop. In that case you had to do a factory reset after flashing stock and it got everything working again. Hopefully yur problems are something that easy to fix.

this is for people who really brick, you overwrite your aboot/sbl's. on the SGS3 this was done by flashing an international rom as their kernel was on MMCBLK0p5 while us SGS3 that was our aboot (bootloader). whats particularly good about this is it means that designgears can nuke his bootloader trying to find exploits/unlock etc and still end up working device by the end of the night (like was done last night). to cut any questions on it, dont bother with trying to sdcard boot the tmobile bootloaders
this is more of a in case things go bad kind of scenario where you cant get to download mode, and if this guide is too confusing etc there is always a jtag (mobiletechvideos is one of the big ones on xda i believe).

Yes we used all type of odin 3.04. To 3.09 and flash pure stock rom and then wipe everything in stock recovery and still get bootloop and missing baseband version so no network and no imei number. could this be used as a way to exploit a 9005 rom to flash and unbrand our device :silly:

Had the same issue and its cuz the USB debugging was turned off in the Developer apps to my luck I had it on, but turned it off 1 week prior to my ph crashing... :crying: lol I tried EVERYTHING for 3 days and I'm tech savy lol What I ended up doing was using my fiance's note 3 to back up all her files via the SD card on her phone and then loaded it into mine and it worked like a charm. It's even a free app from the play store called "Root Browser" and NO you do not have to root their phone to copy their files... Copy the files, on the broken phone do the recovery mode (Volume Up + Home Key + Power Button) then load from external source. Be sure to wipe your data and all that before installing on the broken ph.... and bada-bing bada-bang! FIXED!
I suggest downloading that in the future and keeping that spare SD card in the GUN SAFE!!! just in case you happen to re-root your phone later lol
Hope this helps out since I about threw my Note 3 at the wall from all the looping frustration...lol Tried Odin, Kies3 and nothing... even the ABD cmd and no luck.... Idk why I didn't think about doing that in the past lol GOOD LUCK!:fingers-crossed:

what files did you download off your wife phone onto sd card....using rom toolbox with root explorer....sorry for newb question...any help appreciated....
Hello All,
I am quite new to the world of Android, but have searched and read up for multiple days on this site before finally posting my issue.
I have a GS4 that had been running stock with the MF3 OTA update. I finally decided to root and install safestrap to mess with a few custom roms. Everything went well. I was able to create a Rom Slot and load a custom rom for testing whilst keeping my stock in original form. NO issues what so ever. I used the Wicked Rom.... Eventually I decided that I would delete Rom Slot 1 and go back to stock. I followed directions to the T, deleted the slot and selected to boot from Stock. NO GO. This is where the horror begins:
Now, the phone boots up but I see the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo and it stays there...does not go back. I no longer see the SafeStrap recovery screen when booting up. --- I cannot even get into recovery on the phone any longer: it says recovery booting in blue and stays there.
I am able to get into Download mode to re-flash - but naturally none of the stock firmware files are loadable via Odin due to an error I keep getting NAND Flash! (Fail).
I finally decided to drive to Best Buy and asked the guy to flash my phone to stock there. He put the phone in download mode and used their multiflash tool which did not detect the phone and thus he could not move forward. The laptop did detect the phone at best buy, but their software did not and thus flashing did not occur.
I am looking for any and all advice to get this phone running without having to return it to Samsung....please and thanks in advance.
My apologies if my search did not yield a positive result and there is something out there....
Well There is no way to flash with Odin while on MF3, so that effort is completely fruitless at this time. Did the guy try a different USB port, cord or even restarting the computer he was using?
Can you get into your recovery to do a factory reset?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Best buy should be able to do it. I remember reading somewhere that someone had to go to 3 different stores before they found someone smart enough to do it.. Lol
Sent from my SGH-I337 using XDA Premium HD app
I cannot get into recovery at all, it just says recovery booting and sits there....recovery booting is displayed at the top left of the screen in blue.
The guy did not try a different port or reboot. When he plugged the phone in, in download mode, the computer did recognize the phone but his Samsung software did not.

Well he is an idiot for not troubleshooting his system. I have had the same exact thing happen with multiple different computers and phones. The computer detects the device correctly, but the program I needed to use would not. More often than anything a quick changing of ports or a reboot of the computer fixed it. I have had to completely wipe out the drivers a few times and reinstall them to get it to work. 9 times out of ten, it is not the phone that is the culprit, it is something else before the phone.

Well it seems the guy at my best buy was a TOOL! I took the phone in again today, had the battery pulled before I arrived - put it in download mode for him. Told him that Samsung tech support said he should reboot his pc. He did. Voila, reflashed to stock. Thank goodness....thank you guys for the advice.
