hello for everyone.
i have a problem that i can´t resolve,i install GingerDX v19 and flashed Alfs for GingerDX and intall Update-Vold and wiped cache but my phone stuck in freexperia logo.when i wipe cache i receive some error that say"cache partition can´t be found".
i have xperia x8 E15i with baseband 015.
i see other users with the same problem.
my question is,what should i do to make phone boot properly?
someone please help.
thanks
I've installed GingerDX on LinuxDX kernel, then flashed Alf's kernel, and without wiping or doing anything just after Alf's kernel flash I've got to the CWM (right after flash... on first boot after) and installed Vold-update zip.
Phone booted normally, swap is working and default clock is 710MHz...
Try to:
1)Flash LinuxDX
2)Install GingerDX
3)Flash Alf's kernel
4)On first boot do not let system to boot... Enter CWM and install Vold-update, then reboot...
i go try this now.i reply your solution soon.thanks

Maybe... I got 64 FPS on 729 Mhz
when i see that kernel working i installed gingercruzt rev 8.1.but first i delete some modules in system/lib/modules then flash the rom and vod update and i think that is the most smooth 2.3 rom.i install gingercruzt because that rom with stock kernel is very stable, fast in heavy games and the best battery combination and have a beautifull theme.

hi
1. read carefully on how to use Odin
2. it is always advisable to do a factory/Data wipe and wipe delvi cache and then flash the ROM via odin and if u want to go back to the stock rom dont worry just look in the rollup thread and u will see some links with stock rom with out boot loader for u to flash
good luck and be care full read carefully before attempting to flash
Like it has been said before, it´s ok.
Just remember to follow the guide and you´ll be just fine.
I recommend to flash the Kyrillos Rom 9.2 with G3Mod 2.2.2 noc oc.
Hit thanks if it helped you anyway.
Best of luck
Thanks alot harree.
Also what about the Overclock thingy? and one more question i read in one of the threads that a bettery stats wipe should be done after installing the rom. Well i searched around and i couldn't find a thread on how to do that. I would appreciate if someone can help with that.
@iam_dragonmaster, how can i install the g3mod 2.2.2 non oc (i figure this is a kernal? how can i install a kernal when installing the rom?) with kyrillos rom? besides i can only install kyrillos 9.0 i think then have to use the update.zip thingy to update.

Boot into recovery using the extended boot menu and apply the update for kyrillos 9.2 by selecting zip from SD card and of course you need to put the update in your SD card. You can download g3mod kernel and flash it via Odin one package and it does not wipe your data . Also you can download the battery calibration app from the market and install it and follow the instructions. For me i use Zeppelinroxs die hard battery calibrator script. Can be found with the beta/test releases of v6 supercharger.

I'd go with Aurora now, while both are in full development, Aurora has made some more progress since it's been out longer, I'd wait for the MIUI V4 project to be improved for the U8800, it's still in the RC phase.
I agree with Lollipopjob.
Aurora has gotten really smooth and reliable. It might not be the most "flashy" rom out of the box, but as off today I'm pretty sure you will have a better overall experience with Aurora.
Myself is a big Miui fan, but I am going to wait untill it gets out of the early "test stages" and (hopefully) becomes an awesome, reliable system aswell.
I'm not saying Miui 4 is unstable, as I haven't tried it myself, but I relie on my phone working on a everyday basis and aim for the more tested releases
Good luck!

Tried Geno's MIUI V4 (in general forum) and it's great. No issues for now. Changed to MIUI V4 now from Aurora (and I was on Aurora from the first release).

A small update.
I decided to try the Miui 4 ICS rom, and i had loads of issues from the start.
Laggy/choppy animations and applications, frequent force-closes and networks disconnecting.
As of Aurora is definetly a better choice for day-to-day usage if you ask me.
Just wanted to share my experience

Yes its true...
I believe the MIUI is not as stable as Aurora yet. Aside from that it's all up to personal preference. The MIUI interface is very different from other android roms/launchers though.
Slightly offtopic but when I tried MIUI I spent about 10 minutes looking for the app drawer. Google straightened me out on that one.
That was quite a mindset-shift from any other android interface I have used before. MIUI looks beautiful though.
I agree that MIUI has a much better layout and setup than any other rom, but if i decided to use Miui on my phone as of today I would go for the miui.us gingerbread(?) rom.
It's super stable and smooth, but no ICS obviously.

ICS lags, it isn't stable.
And my question:
I have this now "[ROM] Aurora ICS 4.0.4", can I install this "Miui 2.4.13 V3 [2.6.35]" over it or should I install official gingerbread rom first?

Sorry the way I speak, not in any way want to be rude, but I can not understand why people do not read until the end before asking questions ...
Anyway, here's the answer drawn in the first topic of this ROM:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Requirements:
1. 2.6.35 based ROM installed [either official or .35 based custom ROM, 518 works fine and you won't lose the pink screen]
2. CWM 5.5.0.4
3. If you are planning to use English UI only, install the US version. There are no magical differences between the ROMS, other than the obvious.
Installation:[ [this ROM is for U8800 only, NOT U8800 PRO or -51]
-> boot to CWM -> factory reset* -> wipe cache partion & wipe dalvik cache -> format system directory* -> install the ROM from sdcard
*you can skip the factory reset if you’re updating from Miui .35 (saves you time
from re-installing all programs etc.), formatting system directory may not be
necessary either, but…if you run into trouble, I suggest you to start from a
clean sheet and do these things as well.
Yes, I read that but not sure can I do it, also tried to find information. So I take a risk and try and it works perfect, which means my question was necessary.
But thanks for your efforts.

Hi,
I have been following up NeatROM thread for some time now and i see ppl asking for questions already answered there but they are having problems finding that answer on that thread so i am giving you links and complete Guide on how to install NeatROM Lite v4.0 (best rom which i have experienced uptil now but thats only my opinion) , I am really heavy user of the phone with calls and text messaging with FB, Whatsapp, Viber, Tapatalk and Twitter.
So let me start now.
First , You should make sure that you have safe kernel (without EMMC Bug), to be on the safe side , just flash any region firmware which is 4.0.3 and not 4.0.4 via ODIN.
After that you can apply CF-Root & PhilZ Rooted Kernel ( I would suggest PhilZ Rooted Kernel ) You can go Here to find your relevant kernel.
After flashing the kernel , you are rooted Step 1 Is completed.
After rooting you need to download NeatROM Lite v4.0 from Here and Flash it from the recovory , you can wipe data safely as you have safe kernel , after flashing the rom , make sure that you boot the phone and complete the boot process , after that just reboot the phone to recovery and flash Aroma Mods 4.0.2 (Whichever You Need) From Here
Everything is in order and the phone should be booted immediately.
After flashing Aroma Mods , if you want Ink effect , just flash This to get ink effect and other modification. Your phone is ready for use now..
If you have any questions, just post here and i will try my best to help you
Thanks Alot To SALE to give such a awesome ROM..
I am using this rom as a daily driver and having no problems with battery life too

You can't duel boot with latest lsj based rom as the sources for kernel are not out yet for developers like Dorimanx and siyah to use.
You would only be able to boot it as the only rom on your phone at present.

Seeing that you're running the LPX lock screen I'm going to assume its okay but I thought I'd ask.

Hey guys,
I have an issue. I have installed latest NeatRom Lite 4.2 after performing full wipe but I tried to install XXLS8 Aroma modes after a day or so.
But after the installation only Note 2 gallery seemed to be installed and other features were not installed at all.
Have I done something wrong here? Should I have installed Aroma modes right after the flashing NeatRom 4.2?

I could be wrong but if I'm not mistaken, with Neatrom (Samsung based ROM), you need to use Siyah 6.05b (or 6.04) and not the mcm. I believe the mcm is for CM based ROMs.
Wait just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, it shows Philz recovery then freezes? Or is it not showing Siyah and that's what you're looking for?

Hey guys, I'm currently running CNA 3.6.6 with the JellyX kernel (5-12 bfs) by Blechd0se. (Great combo, BTW :good
I would like to revert to the official CM7 builds because I admire the stability and battery life offered.
Now to my problem,
I know that I have to flash a froyo kernel in order to install CM7 successfully.
But on this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432100) it is mentioned Latest Froyo kernel by Epsylon3: 16 May 2012
Latest Froyo kernel by Quarx: 8 Mar 2012. I was not able to locate these kernels on the respective servers (quarx2k.ru and defy.wdscript.fr)
Moreover, these links are dead: CM7 (froyo) Kernel http://m.cfa.aero/misc/CM7_Kernel-signed.zip
CM9 (GB) Kernel http://m.cfa.aero/misc/CM9_Kernel-signed.zip
However, I was able to find this one (kernel-froyo-222-179-4-signed.zip) on epsylon3's sever. It is dated June 13 and so I'm assuming it is the latest and should work properly. So will it? I plan on flashing the 9-12 official nightly of CM7. Also I read somewhere that CM7 comes bundled with the kernel, so is flashing the kernel even neccessary? I have also seen a test CM7 kernel by blechd0se, does anyone recommend it for stable daily use and will it be compatible?
I plan to follow these steps in flashing, someone please please correct me if I'm wrong..
CM10 recovery-wipe data-wipe cache-wipe dalvik-install cm7-install gapps-install kernel-wipe cache-wipe dalvik.
Should the kernel be flashed before or after the ROM?
I'm trying my best not to be a n00b here (my first thread here, and you might notice I have just one post and zero thanks ), but I really am confused because on a different thread I read that flashing an SBF via RSD was the only way to do this , and I think this thread will help others who might like to go back to CM7 if they are facing issues with Jelly Bean. I have done my homework reading and am not posting without searching. So Any help will be greatly appreciated , and if I'm being a complete bumbling idiot, please feel free to tell me so. :silly:
Waiting for replies from the awesome folks at XDA,
Cheers and have a great day! :highfive:

PS: Off-topic, has anyone tried the V6 supercharger by zeppelinrox on our Defys (JB/ICS/GB) ? If you have, please share your experience I'm really curious, that's all
Cheers
You're confusing 2ndboot kernels with regular kernel. No kernel flashing is required, because they do not interfere and/or replace each other(2ndboot custom and stock Motorola).
You're better off with the regular kernel(Motorola one), the test one(the one for cm7) is in early development.
You will have to convert data from ext4 to ext3 via boot menu. Select tools, file system tools and convert to ext3.
So, the process is: Convert to ext3, flash Rom(You may wipe system before this for good measure), boot the phone, reboot and flash gapps(you may flash it directly after the rom, but this method works for me)
EDIT: Flashing directly works(just tested) for quite a lot of combinations
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium
i may add that you could either flash a stable cm7 + nightly bcs kernel is missing in the nightlies or you just flash one of maniacs... they come with a kernel and are the most cutting edge (the only cutting edge). good luck.
Again, the kernels above are 2ndboot and do not replace the stock; it's a misconception. So, either way the process remains the same; there is absolutely no need to flash anything else unless mentioned on the rom thread.

Okay..Thanks guys! XDA forums are really helpful And so quick to reply too!
On the ROM thread, they say flash froyo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654)
I'm not sure what they mean..
Do I need to change the default boot to 2ndinit as well?
And can someone elaborate on what differences can be found between the official CM7 nightlies and maniac's ones?
Cheers and have a great day!
No change, no nothing. I'm not really sure about maniac builds, perhaps they use the newer kernel(custom), whereas official uses stock Motorola

So, the process is: Convert to ext3, flash Rom(You may wipe system before this for good measure), boot the phone, reboot and flash gapps(you may flash it directly after the rom, but this method works for me)

thanks thekguy. i wasted half a day wondering if my defy had finally bricked and all it is was the ext4 causing the problem. with a quick google found this thread and your solution works perfectly. i only wished that they have sticky your solution as i'm sure many ppl are looking for it...
I do have a big problem. I followed all the steps (coming from latest nightly of CM10) with formatting to ext3 and the other steps. I tried to install CM7.2 and everything went well. But now I stuck at the Motorola Logo.
I even tried the sbf-flash but that didn't work because after RSD-Lite-Flash it stucks at rebooting. Anyone knows how to fix that?
And another problem is, that I cant charge my battery anymore :crying:

That didnt work. I tried to flash the sbf by Quarx (4.5.2-109-DHT-22-fixed.sbf) and RSD Lite says "Please manually powerup this phone". But the Defy stucks at the Motorola Logo (Blue and Green Light and the softkeys are flashing up).
PS. At least I managed to reinstall CM10 in 2nd-Boot and now can charge my phone
EDIT: Now I did all the steps again and installed CM7.2. But now I stuck not at the Motorola Logo but the Bootanimation is looping... It's strange but I dont get a confirmation that I wiped the Dalvik Cache successfully....
How about full sbf flash
Or try this:
Cm10 bootmenu format to ext3 and flash cm7 zip. Reboot and enter custom recovery and wipe data+ dalvik + cache

My boot profile is 2ndinit (not 2ndboot), does this mean that I am using Motorola stock Kernel?
Yes
