Have a "small" problem with my touchscreen, it requires to be aligned every day,and by that i mean that the alignment doesn't hold much long...that means sms typing is extremely hard when you push one letter he shows you another that lays next to it .Is it due to the touchscreen or the system....i didn't do any ROM update i still have the original software on him:
ROM Ver.: 1.12.01 GER
Radio Ver. : 1.12.00
ExtRom ver. : 1.12.151 GER
Many thanks!!
i think it it the problem of touch screen
i think it it the problem of touch screen.after extrem use of touch screen its loes the alinement for this you replace the touch screen from your hardware guy.
Thanks for all
Hi i fixed the problem with a ROM update and i didn't install extra programs that i had before like ( Pocket plus or Calendar ++...... ), anyway now i don't have to align the screen. I don't know is it the ROM update or the additional software but the touchscreen is now working perfectly.
So if someone else have a similar problem don't replace the screen right away.
Thanks
it's hardware problem.
my xda mini also..
but i know how to fix this problem.
Maybe with you it was, my MDA is now working perfectly and i don't need to align my screen every day as i did before. That doesn't mean that all have such a problem,i am only telling you my experience with it.
Best regards from Vienna
Hello, in my magician is not everyday, hapens all the time that i turn on it.
I had replace it 3 times, but i can find a good dealer of touchs. You knows one that seel a good touch?

Guys,
I've had that problem for a LONG time and today i finally got tired and decided to fixed it...here's how i've done it: You just need to lift a little bit up, a few small metal pins which are all around the touchscreen (see the picture in attachment). This will force the touchscreen to remain in place and will end all your problems related to touchscreen alignments.
Regards,
Keeper
so it does help? what do these pins do?
IS THERE REALLY NO SOLUTION TO THAT PROBLEM???
(* the pins have nothing to do with the touchscreen, they are what holds aluminum shell on the plastic chasis)
i had an o2 mini with 1.11 rom and its touch screen was not quite sensitive.. had to tap or drag stylus very hard..
but after upgrading to 2.03TX.. to my surprise.. my PDA now has very good touch screen response!

I tryed to re-flash rom or adjust metal pins but the problem persists.
Anyone have another solution?
Plese help me, i want to save my pupil

Probably it's problem with flat wire that connects screen with mainboard.
You need to open yours xda, find that wire, unplug it from mainboard, clean its pins with alcohol and plug into again.
From this time mine xda doesn't decalibrating anymore

Hi
My cell also had the same problem. There is a bunch of wires coming from the back of touch screen, these wires fix inside a socket. There is a black color cover that fix the wires inside that socket. During mishandling that cover got loose, that's why your cell loose the screen setting. I fixed that cover and now my Jam works perfectly. (Do it if you have the courage to open your cell)

Hello, I just bought a used O2 mini and had this same problems. I finally found a quick way to restore the calibration that goes out every restarts.
Using resco registry editor, I found the data stored here->
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/TOUCH/CalibrationData
So I make 1 clean alignment and quickly went and export the Touch key into my Storage. Now every time the alignment goes haywire, I just import the data back. Hope it helps.
Hi guys!
Long time no post!
I hope you can help point me in the right direction.
Two things started happening with my 8525 TyTN, rendering it unusable. I do have a backup one, so it's no panic. But I would LOVE to try to repair this.
Here's what happens!
1 - The two LEDs in front don't work! No green; no blue; no amber. (HOWEVER, When I first replaced the battery after a hard reset, I did see is glow red for a second!)
2 - None of the buttons on the front work! None. Start/End, the D-pad, mail, internet explorer. All dead!
Interestingly enough... the LCD screen is perfect, as is the touch screen.
The unit also works perfectly fine.
I did a Hard Reset.
I am using WM6.0.
I am wondering... PERHAPS there is some kind of ZIF cable that goes from the body to the top panel? MAYBE that came loose?
If you have seen inside your TyTN, is there one cable/ribbon for lights/buttons?
If so, that would explain it!
If there are two cables/ribbons.... one for lights, one for buttons, then the odds of them BOTH falling out are near impossible!
I would LOVE to hear any ideas or thoughts!!!
Thanks as always!!!!!
Mike
Hello and welcome to a new phone!
I have a similar problem, mine sometimes gets a white screen and the D-pad buttons rarely work for long.
It is quite possibly a loose ribbon cable.
There is actually a thread here about this issue - just do a search for 'white screen' or similar and you'll find it. It was posted to within the week so shouldn't be far from the top if you browse for it, but I can't remember which Herme's category it was in.
There's even a full guide with pics to pulling your 8525 apart!
Cheers! Oggy. ó¿ó
try a new rom,.
I have the same problem. I thought it was bcs my TyTN fell down once. It started with Iexplorer always popping up when I wanted to do something. I thought the IE button at the top was stuck or something and when I pressed hard on the message button everything was okay. All buttons worked. But after a few days they stopped working and pushing the message button wont work also. And both the red and green call button leds are always shining. It sometimes happens that the dpad works for a second and than nothing.
I used the original wm5 and flashed to 6.1 now, no change tho.
it's not the rom, tried several roms now
for me it's just the call answer button, but this is annoying enough
there are some topics in the hermes section which describe the problems you encounter or even worse problems (the lcd flickering or just giving you a bright shining white) and they all say it is a loose cable connector right under your dpad
some of them opened their tytn (guarante already gone) and put some sort of paper or rubber or sth else on the connector.
other say tighten or loosen the screews worked for them, but none of the solutions seem to be final, it always works for some time.
if you have still guarantee i would try sending back or try somewhere else a repair, that is what i will do with tytn
i hope i do not have to pay for the repair
good luck
Loose screw
I was able to fix this problem after ATT told me that I was out of warrenty and it was going to cost 499.00 for a new phone.
I it turn out it is a loose screw on the inside and to get to it you have to undue 11 screw to get to it. I might be able to fix it for you. I dought you would be able to get into this phone and not hurt any of the other functions.
Rick
Hi,
could you advise how you managed to fix it?
Thanks.
button failure and white screen
I have the same problems, if I turn off and on for 3/4 times everything back to normal. But is really annoying because I miss calls.
To me seems a software issue.... I can solve it by turning off the screen does not make sense hardware problems
have a look to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435281
I have still to test the suggestion of schaps advance config version 2.02.1.0.0
Sorry it not a software issue and you can flash a 100 roms and it still won't work. You simply have a bad flex cable and possibly a defective dpad circuit board. You have to crack open the phone to replace it and it has to be carefully done. There are tons of DIY's about opening the phone and replacing the cable. There are even YouTube Videos about it.
Hello Gents and Gals. I am trying to fix my friends HD2, I flashed his ROM with Energy couple of months ago and all was working fine. He gave the phone back to me saying that it is locked.
I tried unlocking the phone but it seems that the screen is unresponsive, so I flashed it again by going into the boot loader screen "Volume Up + Power Button". The phone stated that it is starting for the first time but the screen was still unresponsive. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? Or do I need to tell him to send the phone back to HTC for repairs?
Sounds like the touch screen died ....
Time for a repair ..
Also this really should have been posted in general , as it is not a ROM release , just an FYI
Aww okay. I'll let him know. Thanks.
I'll post like this in General next time. Tks.
HI, I have now the same problem after ROM Flashed, did you solve the problem by yourself, or really the touch screen died.
Rgds
Same thing with me. I ordered new digitizer+LCD and changed them, but the screen is still unresponsive. Other ROM didn't help.
Some advices?
i seen this happen with several phones, reflash to stock and send to HTC they will repair it for free.
I have same problem, yet my phone was bought 18 months ago...worked perfectly until now.
Can a touch screen get defective after normal usage ?

Yes it can, if your touch functionality of your HD2 has stopped working then your digitizer has probably went out.

This is usually due to the replacement components not being properly installed. Also when one is working with the internals they have to be very careful as some of the internals are very easy to break without you even knowing you did. So the cases you spec of are more than likely not because it was not the Digitizer or LCD was not the problem, but human error.
i fixed mine and it didnt cost me
the unresponsive screen maybe the digitizer buts its more likey the end call button, believe it or not dirt can get behind the contact or because the back button is next to we use the far edge of the end call button thus leading to bending the contact, when any of this happens your screen will be unresponsive
you can either take it to a shop and pay for a new screen and digitizer or take it apart and clean the contacts
go to ifixit for step by step guides
hope that helps

I have no idea what are you talking about, that doesn't make sense, as far as I know is no direct relation between END button and (non-working/responding) touchscreen: you may even disconnect/replace bottom buttons ribbon/flex from motherboard and touchscreen will work if OK(or not, if defective).
Is there anybody who can confirm this(or not)?
3 weeks ago I had a LCD/digitizer replaced (cracked screen, but was still working) all was great till 2 days ago. Screen stopped working - took it back to the place I had replace the screen and they tried 3 brand new screens and still no go. Ended up being my main board - luckily I had a spare HD2 and they pulled that board and all is well again.
Believe it or not your LCD/digitizer might be fine - find someone or a way to test main board would be where I would start after the last 3 days.
Good luck
PS - I did NOT try the end button idea prior to the repair.

htc hd2 screen died
I also have a 2009 htc hd2 on which screen does not work.
I'd like to know if it's
- a common problem
- is it possible that it's a software (flashing) issue
- can it be replaced and for how much

From my own experience :
1. It's a common issue, there are hundreds of reports in this forum and I read them all because I had the same problem some months ago
2. Probably not. It's generally hardware-related and often the digitizer (touch responsive screen) . Brief explanation : There's a flaw in the design of the HD2, the thin cable wiring the digitizer to the motherboard, is just below the power button. After some extensive use of your powerbutton, it might happen that the power button touches the cable and cause some kind of shortcut in it which makes the digitizer unresponsive to the motherboard.
3. I replaced mine here : http://www.htcphonerepairs.co.uk/ . Fast repair, secure shipping to Belgium, good price and excellent customer support. (Sounds like advertizing but I swear to be only a happy customer )
There are also multiple videos on youtube explaining how replacing the digitizer yourself if you dare !
Also, I read answers saying that you can somewhat "play" with your buttons (especially the power one) to turnaround the problem. That's correct, BUT it's absolutely inevitable that the problem with come back again if you use the buttons, and you'll have to force more and more to unblock again and repeat again and a again... and that will damage your button bar.
I did this during almost 2 months and that put down all my buttons and now they are really close to the chassis which is very annoying. If only I knew it before I would have replaced the digitizer directly !
For 6 months with my new digitizer + using ICS with soft buttons, I have no problem at all !

Just because this dude has "no idea" it doesn't mean he knows it better.
It IS the END button that gets pressed too often and at some point it begins to mess with the digitizer connection. It can be dirt. It can just be the cable came lose and needs tightening, it can be wear-out.
whatever it is, it is caused by the end-key being too close to the connector cable.
If you guys only searched for this on the HD2 Forums before posting this Thread hat not been necessary. It is the most well known design flaw of the HD2 and as such well documented and commented here.

You didn't get it right or at all:
END key may determine touchscreen failure along the time(being the CAUSE! of this), but the EFFECT is an unusable touchscreen, which cannot be repaired in any other way than replacing it(the touchscreen!!, I mean).
Any other attempt to repair, clean, bend, press, cut or whatever WILL NOT FIX an already faulty touchscreen (even caused by END button excessive or not usage) and who thinks otherwise, no problem with me: SWEET DREAMS!
You sound like my comment hurt you. Sorry if it did. I'm not one hundred percent sure that this issue can be fixed without replacing the screen, yet fairly certain. I've now disassembled two HD2 and couldn't quite find the precise spot where the damage occurred, yet after properly assembling the devices again, one came back alive, the other not. The one which has the screen and buttons not working right is the one that got thrown at me by a kind person. It most likely has physical damage somewhere, although I couldn't locate it. The other one didn't get damage and has screen and buttons work well after complete disassembly and assembly.
Both devices also have different screen types.
I now gave up both devices and am withdrawing myself from the HD2 world. Too many issues with the devices getting old.

Hey guys,
I just ended up with a g1 for a good deal. Only problem is that the touchscreen has a problem were it will shake back and forth between screens. I mean If im on the home page, and i slide it left or right to the other pages. It dances between the 2 for a couple for a seconds. Also I cant touch anything in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. So that brings me to my question. Since the glass is intact, that would mean that the digitizer is busted? As you may have noticed I really dont know. But if anyone could offer any help in my direction because I'd like to fix this myself. As Always...
Thanks in advance,
Lord CraiguS
Please i have the same problem. I would like to know thanks.
Same problem
As for me, this problem started when i`ve replaced the digitizer with a new one. It seems exactly the same as you described. I`ve noticed, that it dissapears temporary when i block the device (power button) and unblock it again. But sooner or later it appears again.
I suppose it is some internal bad contact in connection or in a flexcable of touchscreen.
However, not solved this problem yet.
Seems to be that i found a solution at least for my G1. I`ve installed a new CyanogenMOD 6.1.0-RC1 (i had 6.0.0 previously) - and the problem is not appearing for at least 2 hours!
I suppose it is somehow related with software handling of touchscreen taps.

Unfortunately your problem seems to be much more complicated than replacing the little orange piece you found: that piece is the mobile part of one of a hardware button (volume up/down, reset, back, home, start, make/end call) and IMHO is not directly related to the problems you've described, could be just a coincidence (it should make that specific hardware button stop working and that one only!).
However you should try a hard reset and see what happens!
Good luck!

Thank you very much for your quick answer, but I already tried the hard reset and no good, nothing is responding, I do live in Costa Rica, and I really dont know how to solve the problem, I did though as well that was a software issue but nothing fixed the problem, also check all the hardware but no good(i'm studing enginering on systems).
I was did perform task 29 and install everything again but no good, and also check the digitizer but is ok.
i just want to know what the name of that part of my device is called so i can buy and try, in any case i need to replace that even if that is not the problem, also once it did worked, i place the littli orange film again on the phone where it was supposed to be, but after a while it did move and stop working again, I place it again on the right spot, but never got back to work, that is all the info that I have by now, thank you for your time
New Info: by changing from software i have noticed that on android it seems that is always like pressing a spot on the screen, because is like highlighted, and some buttons work, like the home button, so if I press it, it will highlight other option
