I've noticed that the video playback in most .32 roms is really bad, compared to dzo's ICS.
I want to know if there is a .32 rom that is able to reproduce a 720p video at full speed?
Playback
When you're comparing .32 roms against Dzo's 4.0, you must know two things. Correct me guys, but I think (yeah, haven't tested it yet) that Dzo's rom is overclocked as a stock. Overclocking helps hardware acceleration. Dzo's rom is said to have better adreno driver, but I'm not sure of that.
Theres a one similar thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575486
Ah, it probably as something to do with the driver, since not even overclock helps it
videos, videos everywhere
Btw, what kind of 720p video file are we talking about? I mean is it .mp4? Is it movie or just a video from youtube? Whats the bitrate (video and audio), framerate etc? I'm just curious to know...

Do the MOD works on MIUI Rom? (Is it CM based?)
Just remembering, I'm talking about the PLAYBACK, I, actually, don't care about the 720p recording... Just need the 720p playback.
Thanks,
K.
720p playback is enabled by default on miui (yes it is cm7 based). That patch isnt required.
Although playback isnt that great. Its pretty laggy
There is a way to play it without lag?
(Actually, i tried to play it before on the MIUI ROM, I thought that it don't play 720p because of the lag, hahaha )
You can reduce lag by:
1) overclocking to 1.1 or 1.2 ghz and set scaling to performance
2) get a better sdcard (higher class)

My Defy can play 720p videos encoded with MPEG4 codec very well yøµ ju$t need to keep the bit rate low below 2mbps
Hi.
I am an owner of a Motorola Defy (MB525) with installed CyanogenMod 7.1.0-11
I would like to know how can I enable the recording in 720p without causing any damage to the device.
thanks
P.S. This is the link where I got the Cyanogen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654
P.S.2. I've already look through the different Thread without any success.
The CM7 doesn't support 720p recording, that functionality isn't released yet, and never will be on CM7, not in the Froyo Kernel based... i read that Quarx is working on that on the GB Kernel, with the time, will have 720p recording...
But you can improve camera quality herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030603

For 720p recording you can try ms2ginger 2.1 rom. Use LG camera pro and high bit rate, the video quality with 720p is too good. Also with ms2g the standby consumption is very good, for every 2.5-3 hours 1% consumption for me. with cm7 and roms based off cm7, idle time consumption is 1% for every 45mins. :-(. May be with all AOSP projects it is like that.
Hi!
I have a question about 720p also, but i didn't want to start new thread.
So i wnat to ask, if SOC module is capable of recording 720p? Somewhere i read that SOC module is not worse than BAYER, just the drivers of it are not written so good. So somehow can it be possible?
the lens is capable of capturing video at full resolution(15fps), 1080p (30fps), 720p (60fps).
But as i understand moto hasnt been able to implement the drivers to make it work. Since the camera uses proprietary drivers, we cant do much about it.
Even in the best case scenario we could probably get 720p (30fps) and not more as we are limited by cpu and gpu
Hey guys,
I'm gonna keep it short. My dad has a galaxy s and he's too fond of watching videos. Unfortunately, on every ROM I've tried, video playback isn't smooth at all. One of the reason I guess is the second core and hardware decoding issues whatever, but there should be a solution.. which I am not able to. I feel really bad for him, help me out?
He bought my a Galaxy Nexus and uses the i9000 himself and I really wanna help him out.
Videos play great for me on CM9 Noghtlies with stock kernel

+1 stock kernel also works fine for me.
what video format you tried ?
anyway galaxy s is only single core. cmiiw
hi guys.
hi TigerCourage and thank you. i was wondering about Video Playback and HD recording on ICS!!!
* i am now value pack 2.3.6 JVU and i am afraid to move ICS specially some guys told me to get back 2.3.3 an i don't understand why?
no problem with any sort of video on any ics rom that I have tried so far
thanks guys
**do i need lagfix in ICS ???
i'm om Aokp every video running smooth
btw dont try to play 1080p on the device it's not gonna work with H/W decoding it will lag as hell
thank you
why, you couldn't make "lagfix"

there is no lag fix this problem with codec not capable to play 1080p that why its lag
btw what the point of playing 1080p on 480*800 screen
Confused by the OP's question: do videos not play at all? Or are there certain codecs/bitrates that are posing a problem?
To be perfectly clear: the term "lagfix" is essentially a filesystem change from RFS to EXT4 and is only applicable for Samsung ROMs that use RFS. All AOSP-like ROMs like CyanogenMod are using proper file systems (ext4 and yaffs2) to begin with so there is no "lag" to "fix." Consider the lagfix term deprecated
720p videos in wmv format do not support h/w decoding, therefore they are very slow. With mp4 or mkv it's all fine though.
Do give dice player a shot...
Playback of 720p mkv's is fine for me on both Slim ICS 3.6 and the latest CM nightly with MXplayer/BSplayer.
But TV OUT is really bad though. 720p lags so much I only get about 2-3 fps. And lower res videos show a lot of screen tearing on the tv during scenes with a lot of movement.

I just converted the videos -.- couldnt take it anymore.
does it play 720p youtube videos in stock player?
and does play this video sample in stock player?

thanx in advance
I have a Defy+ with CM7.2 and both HQ YouTube videos and the video sample you linked work perfectly fine on it.
there is not a cyanogenmod for defy plus, only defy
are you sure that it plays both 720p youtube videos and the above sample in stock player?
well, what about this sample? does it work fine in stock player?
https://rapidshare.com/files/1822600111/720p_avc_high_l4_cabac_4_ref_frames.mp4
The Defy and Defy plus are the same. Defy Plus just has a higher clock speed, better battery and comes with Gingerbread. It just uses a different kernel for CM.
That video runs a tiny bit jumpy, but definitely watchable.

You're either a little misinformed or confused..There's cyanogenmod for both the devices(well infact for all 3 devices).
720p runs fine for me but not sure with the stock player..I don't use it to watch videos..
Doesn't matter from where I send it, what matters is written above

why dont you just guys give me a straight answer?
do these videos work fine in the stock player of the stock rom or not?
check phonearena review here, they say that mpeg4 works only up to 480p and that h.264 is not supported, i guess they mean h.264 high profile
http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Motorola-DEFY-Review_id2876/page/2
and it is review of defy plus not defy like the address says
I think u will hardly get answered as no one uses stock rom...
all use custom roms which are 720p enabled...

Hello everybody, I was thinking about our HD2's camera module, and I realized that we don't have the same features yet from ICS to JB as in GB.
Let me explain this concept better...
-----------------------------------------------------------
Pictures:
Well about pictures I think we can do almost they same things on all Android versions, a little exception for Barcode scanners that works at 99.9% and not fully working, but it is negligible
Videos:
Now we can consider two ways...
GB Videos
ICS and JB Videos
- GB Videos:
Ok, GB videos are the perfection, because we can record up to 720p @ 30FPS (maybe more but I never tried)
- ICS and JB Videos:
Well that's the real point of this topic, because I'm really bored to think that if I need to record something special, probly it could be a crappy video file.
Why that? Because on ICS and JB (never tried JB but I know that we have almost the same lib) the recording is up to 800x480 @15FPS
The resolution is not a real problem, because is enought bigger to watch a great video, but about the FPS??
I don't want to sound like a fanatic who just want to know that have the best in his own hands but he don't see any differences between two things....
But when I watch a video recorded @15FPS I see a stuttered video and it's really annoying, because on GB it was fantastic and the camera module works best it can do.
So my question is:
Can we hope in a better camera in the future?
I'm not saying better than GB but just as good...
HD2 is the King and I think that this can be possible sooner or later :fingers-crossed:
Did you manage to record 720p @ 30 fps on an HD2 in Android? What ROM did you use?
I think it was typhoon 7.2cm but maybe with other is possible too
And just once I recorded at 1080p lol but never happened anymore.
I use LGcamera to record because it allows to set different parameters
Thanks for the tip. I can't test right now because I switched to JB this morning, I would waste the rest of the day i I were to switch back to GB and back.
Lgcamera is great on JB though; the stock app can only shoot video at ~4 fps at the moment.

You can't, that's BS. No ROMs properly support more than 480p @ 30FPS.

in which ROM did you just do such a thing like that...? :-?
or even 720p recording...? which rom...?
Trust me you can with cm 7.2 typhoon if I remember correctly... I recorded at 720p @30fps with LGcamera pro
Is a big step anyway to get 30fps even if 800*480
so there are roms that can record at 720p?
