oh wait...You already posted that
Thanks for sharing the video.
Glad it's coming.
Everyone, prepare for battle!
This pretty much confirms that .562 is ICS.
Thanks for the video. Can't wait to get it.

Disappointing it's not 4.0.4, it's a significant improvement over 4.0.3. Though it's kind of expected given the time frame.
Awesome, but when it's gonna roll out?
official Sony ICS ROM + CM9 moded = Best ROM Ever
..... It's 4.0.3 ........
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
And you're surprised because?
From what I know only the nexus phones have official 4.0.4 rom as of now. It's still a possibility that we may get 4.0.4 in the future but for now 4.0.3 will have to do
Give it to me, I want it now.
I hope it's on Wotan soon! I'm keen to give it a go.
Still hopeful that it will happen this week!
I will wait for a pre root kernel and then i will stripp that rom.
No widgets/facebook etc.
Why sony release ICS rom with 4.0.3 not 4.0.4?
Sent from my Xperia Arc using XDA
Beacause 4.0.4 is for Nexus first.
Can anyone point me to any evidence of that not beeing ics beta with modified build.prop ? Or is that to much to ask ?
No UXP NXT on ics??
Not even cosmic ray live wallpaper?
Maybe the video is a fake

If your going to whinge about not getting 4.0.4 why not start on about jellybean.

I don't think we're getting the UXP UI. The beta didn't have it and considering it's quite different it to the old UI then wouldn't make it sense for Sony to include it in the beta so we could test it for them?
Kernel version is 2.6, lag is pretty bad. I hope it is fake.
The video quality is crap anyway.

Just a thought that was in my head. The new official gingerbread rom should be coming out in august so I was wondering who is going to upgrade or stay on their custom rom.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Im sure people will stay on custom roms knowing they dont have to deal with bloatware apps and other useless nonsense that SE provides. Saying this i believe many files will be pulled from the generic 2.3 to be used in the ROMs.
No. Will stay with froyo
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yes, just to try it out. I use a Custom ROM but there are many things that are broken sometimes, not supported, or flat out not working. Once the official 2.3 is out I am sure those guys will make their own custom ROMs much better.
LOLwat? After all the *****ing SE received, people better upgrade, otherwise they'll send a hitman to off you.
gingerbread
I sure will upgrade to 2.3 official
Will update right away when SE releases it.
I will update to officiell 2.3 and stay there because then i have everything i want
Sent from my Sony Ericsson Xperia™ phone
Gonna try it. Might as well keep it, but I guess I'll be expecting XDA developers to make it even better with tweaks and stuff.
If FPS cap raised to 60 --> upgrade. If not, I'm sticking with Froyo.

I bought an Arc and gave my X10 to my son.
He's looking forward to the upgrade so we'll give it a shot and see what SE provides.
Yeah, you know it's okay, release Gingerbread when the Ice Cream Sandwich is right around the corner.
will give it a shot and try it for few hours... get bored, return to CM7 and wait for FreeXperia team to get camera fully working

Comes with the Arc Timescape, right? I'd like to see what changed, so I'll definitely try it out.
Ill upgrade if we get a new kernel, with no fps cap and with implemented netfilter and ip tables ect... otherwise ill stick to trip's miui froyo.

Thought id start this thread to create a bit of build up to the upgrade, im a regular arc user so ive still got another month or so to wait but il feel good if the arc s gets theirs on time, which being the end of march could be any day now. Sony seem to be quiet on this, anyone heard anything?
I'm hoping they release the ICS for arc s by the end of this weekend, the suspense is killing me slowly lol. I check this forum and sony blog post every morning.
As they said late March to early April, that could mean the update would between 15 March and 15 April.
Would love to get an update from SE on the progress for the first phones that are due upgrades.
Clearly feeling a little bit left out now that Samsung are releasing theirs.
Hasn't HTC also updated a device?
Sony is behind - again

I'm very enthusiastic about ICS too but doesn't it mean that we won't have our devices rooted anymore? I've linked tons of apps via Link2SD and my Arc don't have enough space to hold them all.
I'm worried when we will have to upgrade to ICS, AFAIK a lot of apps out there is not yet compatible with ICS, until the developer will upgrade the app.
But I'm also Excited because lots of optimization and features will be available to us, specially that Adreno 205 Driver will be included(I read it somewhere)

I think otherwise. Almost every app I tried is fully compatible with ICS.
Also, Sony has announced the neo L in China and it launches with ICS on board. It uses the same chipset as the arc (MSM8255). Perhaps we could port it when someone gets and uploads the filesystem dump, that is, if the device comes out sooner than the ICS update.
There's nothing on PTCRB yet and updates usually appear on here well in advance of the update actually being pushed. So it could still be weeks away assuming they haven't had any serious issues they need to fix first. It's been 4 weeks since the beta and not a peep from the Sony devs here on XDA which is a shame.

I don't think it will be a problem. I also have an Asus Transformer TF101, and that got ICS a few weeks back, no application compatibility problems, and it's REALLY quick (it was quick before anyway).

yeah i agree, in their blog post they stated "Over the next months we will be keeping you up to date on progress and we will also share video demos of the new software running on 2011 Xperia™ smartphones." it doesnt look good....
Probably see it in April, just my safe guess.
I am really looking forward to being able to force gpu acceleration because I don't like scrolling lag
i hope 2011 xperia can still support jelly bean in the future...
By XDA sure, by sony no. I doubt they will release another major update after this. Look at the X10, got gingerbread update and that was it.

There's 50% chance they will do it and if they do, Jelly Bean will probably be the last major update.

Ummm
Well the unethical way of update release by Samsung made us all confused.. If they would have released it like their prior updates all regions or more than one region then we might have upgraded our devices. But currently their is only one xxlpy Germany experimental release so I am not at all interested.
If you don't have a particular need to upgrade to ICS, then you should probably wait until it gets released locally, or you decide you have a need.
I personally won't be going back to GB, because I like the better external keyboard support (it recognises the CTRL and ALT keys) and also the USB midi support, both of which don't work in GB.
The UI tweaks and snappier response are good, but they're not going to let you don anything you can't do already.
If there's an app you want to use that is ICS only, then that might be a reason to upgrade too.
LPF (which I have found to be a lot better than LPY, in terms of UI speed and battery performance) is a wipe ROM though, so you need to spend a bit of time restoring everything.
If you wait for the OTA release, it might will hopefully not be a wipe ROM, which might make life easier for you.
HTH,
Rich
Hello,
Personally I've been on ICS for almost a month now and I love it, first midnote than Crisckelo (V2 and V3) but now I love the Kingdroid ROM the battery doesn't die and it looks even better with Apex launcher!!
I could not go back to gingerbread!! I haven't tried the stock ICS (LPY or LPF) but with their bloatware the battery would not suit me !!
I can confirm it reads arabic.perfectly. dunno abt japanese.....the rom is so far very stable nd better looking....pinkish display issue solved 90%.......sd card readng bug sometimes solved by unmountng then mountng.
Thanx guys for responding it means alot for me,,,,,

I personally have gone back to GB (rocket ROM) which in terms of battery and responsiveness is better than any ICS ROM I tried. Also there are apps that don't run well on ICS. I guess in a few months time when all official ICS ota's had been released and the developers have had time to tweak them then ICS will be better.

FYI since I never saw that mentioned (especially NOT in Samsung ads, for both the S2 and the Note...)
GB = ONE core used, linux 2.6 non-SMP
ICS = ALL cores used, linux 3.0 SMP, but it enables the superbrick defect bug

With JB, try waiting another 6 months.
You do not need the ROM released in your regions to install. Most of them are fine, unless you want languages specific to your region.

why
Why is it called the Jelly Belly '? It was supposed to be a lemon pie
Google just doesn't seem to decide how they will number things.
With gingerbread, they bumped the API and added features in a x.x.Y release. With jelly bean, seems like they fell in love with the codename, so it's jelly bean all the way for all releases. You used to be able to say "I got GB/ICS/JB" and people knew what you meant. Now you can have JB 4.1, 4.2, 4.3... what's the point of naming releases if you don't change the name?
*sigh*
Yeah... Looking forward for a release to Xperia Arc S
Google's going on alphabetical order: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honey Comb,, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean,.
..,.
