[Q] cLk 1.5.0.3 led stay on - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi guy
with cLK 1.5.0.3 when my HD2 is off and under charge, I have to remove the battery also when I unplugged the cable the orange led stay on, and as if I push the power button, the phone doesn't start on.
It's normal? There's a solution?
Ps. With phone off and usb cable is plugin, the battery charge.

AFAIK, if you want to boot your phone you have to remove the cable first, wait for the led to go off then boot. (for cLK)

Hi again,
I've tried to do what you wrote, but unplug usb cable, and wait 2-3 min, I've had to remove the battery because the led does'nt switch off.

Hi,
Could you do me a favor and try this?
While your phone is turned OFF and connected to AC/PC
press once the left/green/answer button and tell me what happens..
Regards!

^HW Buttons should light up without the phone booting, but mine works just fine. All I have to do is remove cable, wait for led to go off (and it does) then boot up and it will boot just fine.
Btw, by cLK 1.5.0.3 you mean cLK 1.5 rc-1, right ?

Well, when I press the green/answer button - NOT the power button,
HW buttons light up AND my device is booting into Android, so no cable removal is needed.

I believe he means the black version I compiled which is based on cLK 1.5.

If the phone was charging in sd android with screen off then it is most probably because some of the sd kernels are not patched for clk, nand kernels have most of the sod(s) fixed iirc.
If the phone was charging when was switched off (off mode charging) then unfortunately it is a known issue but not in clk, the issue is with offmode charging binaries in recovery which are apparently closed source it also could be because the power button does not behave like normal GPIO keypad button, it is not part of the keypad matrix.
If i get time after working on the maglk wrapper and my sat test next month, ill give a go at it before getting back to usb host for leo. you can get more info about recovery part of offmode charge from arif-ali and read about micro-p and gpio keypads on google or the linux sources for any htc device.

OK, this is strange.
It seems I haven't charged my phone while turned off for quite some time and I forgot the trick to turn it on without removing the cable..
So, I just did it and it worked like below:
Turned off the phone.
Plugged the usb cable.
While the phone is off and charging I pressed call button. The buttons switch on for a while.
When the buttons switch off, I pressed once again the call button.
The led switched off and the device booted into android without unplugging the cable.
Why/How does this work?
I don't really know, cause I didn't spend any time looking into it,
but my guess is that at step #4 we select "reboot system now" from recovery's menu, so the phone actually reboots from recovery to android system - it does not power on.
Regards

I've tried for the last time. I wish a new version of clk came
Also this trick doesn't work.
Thanks to everyone

strangely in clk you can also turn the phone on w/o unplugging charger by pressing green key>pause 0.1s>press home key, hold both keys and wait for led to go off and then press power
do you know why that happens?

I got the same Error when I flashed cLK 1.5.0.3. But when I use 1.4.0.1 and CWm Recovery 3.0.1.4 i can charge the phone while it's powered off and press the on button to power it on. So it might have to do something with newer versions of clk and/or cwm.

[Q] Unable to charge..

Hi, I installed Magldr 1.13 and windows phone 7 and accidentally left my battery flat. I tried charging it but it will cause an endless reboot, i will be stuck at HTC boot screen before it reboots again. I think magldr doesn't allow it to charge and I dont have enough power to boot into windows phone 7. Is there any other ways? I tried charging at the tri colour screen and magldr but the phone keep heating up. The endless reboot is causing it not to charge! =( Any ideas? Thanks
Its well known and documented that magldr prevents charging when off.
If you can borrow another phone, and the other phone has win mo you can use that to charge yours.
If you can only get access to another battery(or the other phone has magldr too),use that battery to flash yours back to winmo so that you can charge the dead battery from off.
If you can't borrow either, you are gonna need an external charger, or perhaps buy a cheap battery.
try this:
1. remove the battery for a minute or two
2. put the battery back inside
3. the phone should remain OFF, do not press any buttons, do not try to turn it on.
4. plug in the cable...see the orange light come on.
5. leave the phone like this for 10-15 minutes.
6. now turn it on and charge as usual.
tell us if this works.
NOTE: i thought cotulla fixed the battery-charging-while-off problem in magldr 1.13?
Just boot in magldr itself by holding powerbutton on start-up and let it charge in magldr that works.

Re: the above 2 posts.
No, the charge bug in magldr wasn't fixed, instead magldr detects charging and powers on the phone.
Hectiq, sure? Never charges for me in magldr menu.(as I would expect since the software to control charging is part of the rom)
thank everyone! I left it on magldr for 30 mins and it gave me enough juice to boot in the os to charge! Anyone with this problem should just leave it in magldr menu.
I cant even get into magdlr menu by holding power key.. it keeps restarting. Is there any other solution??

go to a store and beg them to put your battery in their phone for a few minutes?

Magldr quick question

i have an hd2 with a dead battery and when i go to power on the phone while connected to the wall charger it just vibates once. this is a sign of a dead battery and magldr 1.2 incapability to charge while off right?
yep, either borrow another battery to flash your phone back to winmo so it ch=an charge, , or, , charge in another winmo hd2, or, get an old usb cable, cut off the usb head, find the red and black wires, bare them, hold red to + and black to -, plug into wall charger for a m inute or two, battery should have enough charge to boot enough to start charging.
Use clk allows charging in off state plus in my opinion better touch screen response.

another quick question. is it correct that the only way to power on the phone is by the power button or the reset + volume down combo with magldr 1.2. because my keypad broke and im waiting in the mail for another 1, and wanted to know alternate ways to power the device on besides the power button
If its latest magldr it detects the insertion of power and turns on. Charge your battery a little, and when you plug charger in it should fire up.

Wait, wait, wait!? Sam couldn't get cLK to run properly?
no what im asking is if my phone led dont light up while connected through the charger, and the phone only vibrates once and never powers on. does this mean the battery is dead. i read several places where magldr 1.2 doesnt charge while its off.
FYI-before i changed my keypad i sucessfully flashed an android rom and the correct radio and hard spl. so i know its not bricked.
none of the magldrs charge when off, but the latest one 1.13 (where you get 1.2 from? 1.12 perhaps?) detects when it should start charging when off, and turns on.
I had to do that usb lead thing i talked about last week, let the phone die, couldnt charge it. worked no problem.

as in my PM, not that i remember, BUT, the phone does give a little shake when it turns on normally, so i can imagine an almost flat battery might vibrate then go straight off a few times before the battery is truly flat, and you shouldnt keep trying, save teh dregs of power, and try top it up as noted with an old usb cable. doesnt have to be micro usb, any old normal usb cable will do, black and red wires to - and + for 30 seconds in the wall charger, thats what i did.

[Q] HTC Not charging while off (cLk)

Hey,
I have installed cLk and my battery ran out by accident, and when I put it in with my USB it just turns on the phone, then turns off almost straight away then turns on and goes in a loop. How can I ressurect my phone? I thought cLk was able to charge while off?
Thanks,
Snowled
Did you check the contact pins between battery and HD2 body?My experience is that the middle pin is so easy to be bent, and can not contact to the battery. This makes battery unchargeably.
CLK can be offline charging but I still get problem too if I want turn on my device,,,i must pull out my battery and back it back to turn on my device,,,,

This is due to how clk charges while off. AFAIK the phone isn't truly off when charging, instead it boots to something (clk?kernel?something else?) that just handles charging with the screen off. This is also why the hardware key lights will light up when charging while off. You don't need to pull the battery, just unplug from charger and power up.
If you still can't get it to charge, remove the battery, connect the usb cable then wait a few seconds, finally insert the battery and your phone should start charging normally .
cLK: phone off under charge
Hi guy
with cLK 1.5.0.3 when my phone is off and under charge, I have to remove the battery because the led stay on, and as if I push the power button, the phone doesn't start on.
This happen also when I unplugged the cable and push the power button like suggest to jwchips (2 post above)
There's a solution?
Ps. With phone off and usb cable is plugin, the battery charge.
still not charging
phone still not charging, I have to charge the battery outside of the phone, then insert it for the phone to boot up, then it will charge, if the battery died on me, it wont charge with the original charger or with the computer USB...
Enable in-built charging mode in CLKs advanced settings and try.
Don't know about Clk...but in magldr...when in boot menu screen...HD2 charges. (Led is off...no indication of charging...but it does).

What version of clk do you use? The latest experimental version can charge in off mode (both by recovery or built-in clk) and wake up your phone easily. You can charge in off mode when using old clk. But, the wake-up key combination is weird, i.e. volume up + volume down + power key. It is difficult to press them at the same time.
If all failed, charge the battery out of the phone.:fingers-crossed:
charge it in tricolor bootloader! (volume down + power) and it will not show led during charge

Are you sure about this? I don't know exactly what happens because I only have WPH 7.8 and I can't really rely on the battery indication while it turns on. Every time it is different.
So, maybe a new feature in the next release of MAGLDR can be a battery charge indication and levels? Since it boots up anyway to charge (even in magldr), i think it would be helpful. What do you all think? Maybe we post a humble request to the developers of MAGLDR?

[Q] kindle doesnt have enough power to boot

I'm using the factory charger but I have twrp.when I boot it it shows the triange then shuts down then back up in a loop, what should I do.I had the charger plugged in then the kf just died
Please help
I am seeing more and more of these threads of the kindle "not charging" after TWRP is installed. I am wondering if it's user error or something deeper.
I would let it charge for a bit and see what happens. Also press the power button a few times when you turn it on until the light turns orange. If it does turn orange and boots into TWRP then you know at least the kindle is not "bricked" and you can restore a backup.

Thanks but it won't charge at all I know its not charging because when it turns on a little later it shuts back down, then it boots up and shuts down even faster than last time.
Have you try to press and hold the Power button for more than 30 seconds?
I think I need to take the battery out and charge it separately, but how would I charge it once its out?I need help.

Yes it just turns on then off
Have you try this:
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
If you end up stuck at the yellow triangle, in KF Utility select Boot Normal, wait for it to say <waiting for device> and then press and hold the power button 20 seconds until the fire turns off, then when its off turn it back on. This sometimes happens, I have yet to find a clean solution
If you end up stuck with a yellow triangle, do not EVER unplug it. Leave it plugged in. Check the windows drivers to make sure it isnt showing as "kindle" again. Fastboot is different and can cause this.

mad at myself
I am so mad right now...I got it working by making a charger that is one volt stronger. It booted up, but then i was going to take a picture of it to put on xda and when i plugged my charger in the seond time, the device shut down.NOW WHEN I CONNECT A CHARGER TO IT IT WONT EVEN TRY TO TURN ON,BUT IF I CLICK THE BUTTON IT TURNS ON FOR 2 SECONDS THEN TURNS OFF. I am so mad:
i assume you meant Ampere not Volt ?
usb charger has 5V - if build one with 6V (don't know how) - you will damage the device !
it should have ~2A - let it on the strong charger over night

I'm pretty sure that will work, if you can get that far. Otherwise (assuming you've already opened it) unplug the battery cable, start the fastboot command, plug in USB, then when (if? not sure it'll work) fastboot completes plug in the battery.
Changing the charging voltage won't help because the charge controller has a built in regulator. IIRC it will take something >12V, but there are probably other things on the USB V+ that might get fried at those levels.
I do remember from the tiny bit of battery charger documentation I'd seen that the Fire's charge controller does not have the flat battery recover feature, that is, provide a trickle charge by default if the battery is too low to power up the CPU. Which is flat out stupid on a consumer product.

PH-1 requires long press PWR button to boot - Any ideas why?

Hello,
I just purchased a used PH-1 and it was reset before I got it. So I put in my Google credentials and restored a backup no problem. The first few times I powered the phone down and plugged in a charger, I saw the battery charging graphic icon (looks like a coffee to go cup : ), no problem. But now, when I power down the phone, the screen is black and stays black with no sound or vibration when I plug in the charger. It still *does* charge in this state, but when I try and boot the phone back up, I have to press the Power button for 10+ seconds and let go before it will boot. I suppose I can continue to use the phone this way, but I was wondering if there was a reason and/or fix for this that anyone is aware of? thanks so much.

Sorry I should have mentioned, I tried several cables and chargers... same result.
Another issue I noticed. If I turn on the phone when it's plugged in, it goes to the bootloader (which is locked). I have to unplug the phone if I want to boot to the OS.

Make sure you're not fat-fingering the volume down button and the power button, because that combination is guaranteed to get you into the bootloader.
