Just wondering if anyone has this issue with the stock email app on exchange.
When I view attachments, I can see them on the attachments tab, and load them up.
As soon as a attachment is loaded and then I navigate away from that email to another one and then back, the loaded attachment is not there anymore.
So basically when a attachment is loaded / viewed it cannot be seen again.

Hi, scratching my head on this one. This concerns the stock Email app, used with an exchange account, or pop3, or IMAP, tried all 3 and same result.
I get an email with an attachment, it shows a paperclip symbol in the inbox. Tapping the email to open it, I get the sender, below that the subject, then below that the body. No attachment shows anywhere whatsoever.
Now, if I then press the top right envelope icon, and select 'forward', i get a compose screen to forward the message, and well I never - the attachment shows up!!
So for now, in order to view an attachment, I have to open the email and then select the option to forward it, only then can I see it and open it! Any ideas what's going on?
(Please don't say install another client, i don't want that, I'm trying to discover why the default one is doing this!)
TIA
Does it happens with all kind of attachments ?
I have my mail synced to exchange, mail with inserted pictures for example shown like
paperclip and i can open them as attachments, until I press "load more details" ,then attachment disappears in to the body of the mail.
Try "Download all files" free from the market.

my girlfriend just got the s4 shes coming from an old droid and she uses gmail religiously for work
when composing an email theres attach photo, attach video but no attach document...i know a way around this is to go to the files and hit share then it will attach to a new email
but the issue with using that as a work around is if you want to reply to an email with a document attachment that wont work for that you would need a menu option like photo and video has
the old gmail app on her phone she can just attach whatever her phone wasnt able to update to this gmail version
anyone got any ideas on how to solve this issue
For me,I have selected "attach photo" then selected my ES file explorer app(instead of gallery), and was able to attach documents(.txt file) to the email. See if that works for her.

After upgrading to Lollipop I discovered a new limit of 5MB on Gmail attachments which meant I could only attach 1 screen shot of 2.7MB instead of the 3 I used to attach.
I solved the problem by opening the Gmail app in settings and returned it to the previous version and that worked.
hello
I have strange issue on my nexus 6P
when I am using CamScanner app
CamScanner does not add an attachment , when I am trying to send it via gmail (it says "you cannot send empty letter" something like this)
any of you have same issue ?
I get solution:
Please go to your phone settings--apps--gmail--manage permissions--activate "storage"
I hope someone can help. On my fire hd 10, I cannot view Gmail attachments via gmail app. When I click the left side of it to view it I only get a white box with a blue line running across the bottom of the white box. If I click on the right side on the download arrow, I can download it then see it but it is nice to be able to view the attachment first then decide if you want to download it. I can do this on my android phone but would like this to work on my fire hd 10. Is this a known issue? Are there any work arounds? Thanks, Cindy
It is a known issue on all current Fire tablets. There is no fix as such, but if you install the Google drive app and save the attachment to your google drive through the gmail menu, you can then open Google drive and access it from there.
So it is an issue with fire devices and NOT the gmail app interacting with fire o.s.?
Would Amazon's email app allow you to preview an attachment using your gmail email address without having to download the attachment? Or any other email app for that matter?
Thanks! Cindy

I think it works if you add the gmail account through other apps like the Outlook app. I've not tried the e-mail app that comes preinstalled.
