Problem with Stock Email app - Viewing Attachments - Galaxy S II General

Hi, scratching my head on this one. This concerns the stock Email app, used with an exchange account, or pop3, or IMAP, tried all 3 and same result.
I get an email with an attachment, it shows a paperclip symbol in the inbox. Tapping the email to open it, I get the sender, below that the subject, then below that the body. No attachment shows anywhere whatsoever.
Now, if I then press the top right envelope icon, and select 'forward', i get a compose screen to forward the message, and well I never - the attachment shows up!!
So for now, in order to view an attachment, I have to open the email and then select the option to forward it, only then can I see it and open it! Any ideas what's going on?
(Please don't say install another client, i don't want that, I'm trying to discover why the default one is doing this!)
TIA

Does it happens with all kind of attachments ?
I have my mail synced to exchange, mail with inserted pictures for example shown like
paperclip and i can open them as attachments, until I press "load more details" ,then attachment disappears in to the body of the mail.

Try "Download all files" free from the market.

I'm getting my mail fine on the HTC, but If I delete the message on the phone I'm not receiving it in my Outlook POP account. If I don't delete the message it will show up on the POP account. Any ideas??

How do I open an email draft I saved?

I hit "save draft" it popped me out
Later I'm back in and there's no drafts folder, not in the outbox...
Lil help?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA Premium App
What app are you using for email?
If it is gmail, push the inbox button in the top left corner and go to drafts.
I guess its gmail...its whatever the default email app is.
Even though I hit "SAVE DRAFT" I have no drafts folder when I click the top left. I have inbox, trash, outbox (empty) and sent.
Silly thing.....
You guess? It makes a huge difference what app you are using. Is the name of the app gmail or email?
Its says email in the apps drawer...its such a generic looking name I assumed it was a shortcut to "the email app do jour ".... so "email " is the name of the app

Oh ok thank you. I just set up my account using that app, and I think I got it.
Open the app, press the menu key. Then select folders and look for something with the word "drafts". For me it was GMAIL/Drafts because I have a gmail account. It may be labeled something else if you're using a different provider
Jmoney47,
Thanks for spending time with me and sorry about the delayed response..... unfortunately there was no drafts folder.
But... problem solved!!!!
I am using the messaging widget, and on the opening screen where I can see all my accounts there is a green plus on the title bar top right. When you press that plus you see all of the unsent messages that were partially started. You can either start a new message from there or select any of the partially composed messages and complete them.
It's almost like a generic draft folder for all email clients.... once again the droid o s makes things so easy that they hide in plain sight!

FIXED: ICS Exchange Subfolders Not Showing Up

Just upgraded to ICS, added my Exchange account in stock email. At the first refresh, I see the subfolders, as soon as the refresh is complete, all subfolders disappear. Tried the usual, removed account and added it back, no difference. When I select a message and click the Move To Folder icon, the subfolder list appears there.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Could I be the only one with this issue?
The same here... no subfolders!
No you are not!
In GB the Samsung stock Mail sucked, but now its horrible!
Subfolders not showing up indeed and it looks crappy.
On my MotoDefy I am running Cyanogenmod 9 with the Google stockmail and I love it.
Why did Samsung left us with this inferieur mail app!
I do not want to root right now due tot the hardbrick problems with ICS... what options are left?
Have not found any real good sutitute on Google Play Store for Google stock Mail. Too fancy, to laggy or just far to expensive so far.
I have no such problem. Just click the menu button and then select folders. I see mine just fine.

Its not about the folders, dut subfolders in the folders
I installed a trial version of Touchdown and it can see my subfolders (the damn thing costs $20). I feel like going back to GB, is this possible? Am I going to screw up anything? The battery drain is noticeable, for the first time ever since I've had my Note, I heard a low-battery beep before the end of the working day. Coincidence?

I see the subfolders just as well. Just click on the icon of the folder and it opens the list of sub folders.

Can you post a screenshot? I have no folder icon to click on, unless you mean "Inbox", which only takes me into the inbox. No folders.
Thanks!

I have no issues with sub folders.
You need to go to options (left hardware key).
Folders -->
Just click on the icon of the INBOX and it opens the list of sub folders for Inbox.
Similarly click on the ICON of the other folders such as Sent, etc for their sub f olders if any.
Okay, here's the problem. I have been touching the icon and nothing happened. Just got it to work by long pressing it and waiting about 2 seconds. It's a pretty bad lag. I have a lot of folders...?
ETA: Doing *anything* is slow. Much slower than GB. Deletes take 2 seconds each. Spinning wheel while inbox opens. This is for an Exchange mailbox.

I've been using the left hardware key and selecting Folders, the only folders which show up are the default ones (Sent, Draft, Outbox etc) By long pressing on the Inbox folder, even for a couple of seconds, I get a menu option to Open, Add Folders, Sync Options.
Update: fixed problem, click the Inbox ICON, not the label "Inbox" when selecting Folders.

i loved the stock email all the time . maybe am not that extensive user anyway but seriously i have no trouble with the exchange account that i have . maybe cuz i use a hotmail one ? who knows ?!!!!
Replaced Samsung email app bij the Google stock email app
The samsung e-mail app works to laggy for me.
I found en nice solution. Just follow two treads:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26036984&postcount=1
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25102714&postcount=18
The first one gives me a temporary root with a kind of temprary ClockWorkMod (I dit not instaal the RootUser - SU Busybox - BTW)
The second during the CWM session I installed ICS_EmailGoogle_update.zip.
Nice thing is.... its all reversable, no trianges or conuters end no ROM upgrades.
Works like a charm!
Now mij Note on ICS is like I want it!!

Inline images in an email

I am going on a 7 day bicycle ride next week, from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and I want to send some emails while I'm on the road. One of my teammates made awesome banner images for each day, so I want to put those at the top of each email message.
I can create drafts in Gmail on the web, add the images, put some text and leave them ready to send. What I want to do as the days go by is edit each draft, add any updates or special mentions based on the events and send.
Unfortunately, when I access the draft in the Android Gmail app, the format is completely lost. The app turns the inline image into an attachment and it doesn't even get sent when testing.
Does anyone know of an Android email client (IMAP preferably) that does inline images? Even if it's with a URL or that allows HTML tags?

Hmm well you could try using the full computer page of gmail. Via the stock browser app.
Install flash player if you already dont have it - http://db.tt/LiJFLmj1
(Backup flashplayer.apk from my dropbox)
Then just open native browser app and check request full site under the pull down settings.

Hmm that's good to know! I found that Maildroid allows inserting the images inline. I can write up my drafts on Google Docs and then copy and paste into Maildroid and insert the images. This should make it fairly easy to do with just my phone.
Thanks for the help!

[CM13]E-mail app blank content

I have been using CM for years. Since I flashed CM11 to my SGS4, I noticed that email app won't work. It does sync but when I tap an email it's just blank page with circle that tells me it's loading. But when I tap and hold somewhere on that blank page it shows me that cut copy select all options. I copied and pasted somewhere and I saw my email already loaded but app just won't show me at all. I'm using a Nexus 4 with CM 13 and it still happens! I googled it but couldn't find thing so I'm asking to you guys. What is the problem? Also I can't even login to my Gmail via this app. Google sends me an email that someone tries to reach my account. I can only use my Hotmail and this happens. Hope there is a fix.
