So, i ve sadly decited to change the king with an android native phone.. i love htc sense, and i wanna buy sensation (cant the new one series, too much expensive here in italy), but the battery for me its underpowered.. the atrix tough have a big battery 1930mah.. dont care about photo and video i know that sensation do better photos, but atrix do good photos too.I use the phone for im, fb, sometimes photo, and alot of text..so i ask you guys what phone you Recommend? the battery life wins over the other tings, and the lcd must be in a range of 4.0-4.3

I'd go for the Sensation, purely because it looks awesome and HTC Sense is quite a nice looking UI. My friend owns one running Android Revolution HD (ICS Sense 4.0) and it's extremely smooth. It's all up to what you need though. If you posted this in a more general forum you would get far more responses
no.. i wanna have advise from yours.. we know merits and defects of the king..only we know who can be the successor of this king ;( so sad.. its the best mobile ever had.. i want it in the first day.. but i had only 300 euro savings.. so opted for the unluky tsunagi tg01.. later for samsung wave 2 (OMG) and i was luky.. i changed w2 with the hd2 for free with a friend.. the king ;( so now nevermind, the underpower battery and the overheating problem mess me up XD think should buy a sensation.. sense its so sexy :Q

Well would you even be interested in trying to fix the problems you are having now or do you just want a new phone and be done with it?
What exactly is the problems you are having besides the heat condition? I've only noticed this a couple times and its normally while playing
rich graphic games for over 20-30 mins or so.
I would say that an older ROM that works flawlessly would be RAFDROID HD. A newer ROM that still runs quite nice is the Energy ROM.
I've found no random reboots, over heating issues or crashing/freezing up with these and both have been a great running ROM for me.
hi htc craze tested rafpigna, tested energie, dorimanx, sense 2.0, 2.1, my hd2 freeze up and went hot i any condition..with default voltage its quite better, but phone reach up fast 40+ C. I installed any kind of rom, and any of that have overheating issue...my htc is secondheand for 2009.. dont know if previous propretary overcloked alot this phone and damage the cpu.. but ist usable for text and ims.. but not for calls.. i need for a stable phone.. for now, i w8 for mwakious rom, if this dont work, its time for the hd2 to be the companion of the unlucky tg01, in the desk XD tx alot, i ve appreciate your help
sorry for my bad english, hope you can understand
ps: no, if i can manage to repair my phone, i will stay with it...thinking about to buy a new motherboard if this can help me, and i this dont cost too much XD

So I'm thinking about ditching my MyTouch Slide [Espresso] and jumping over to the HD2, since my friend did that a few months ago, and he's been experiencing nothing but good things, but I still have a few questions to ask the general Android HD2 community, since apparently the HD2 is more supported than the Nexus One.
[Sorry, TONS of questions here]
How does the battery normally hold up? I know it depends on the rom [Sense drains battery like a *****, I know from personal experience], but I'm asking about generalities here. On light usage, does your phone last for 12 hours? 10?
What is still the most generally buggy feature on the HD2, regardless of ROM? Wifi? Bluetooth? Camera? In other words, what usually doesn't work and/or is the most buggy?
Do most market apps work for the HD2? Because I know certain apps are optimized for certain phones, and I'm wondering what apps usually work/don't work.
Is the touch screen REALLY that receptive? I hear that it's one of the best on any Android-running phone.
and finally...
What is the maximum STABLE overclock you can push onto the HD2?
Sorry for the tons and tons of questions. I just want to make sure that I'm doing the right thing before dropping $250 on a phone, lol.
Ok gonna do my best here. With wifi off I easily get 10+ with medium usage. Wifi, bluetooth, all work fine, still have data freezes using ppp but they getting to be few and far between. Still have touch screen freezes occasionally but you just wait a sec and all is well again. Touch screen us very responsive.. Every app I have tried has installed with no problems. My hd2 oc's stable to 1.113 ghz which is plenty for me, some will even go to 1.28 oc, just depends in the phone. Things are getting better every week of development. So in conclusion (never used a mt slide) if you can handle a strictly touch screen phone. And like to try new builds go for it.. I'm sure you won't be disappointed

Battery life for me is about 28-30 hours with average use (about an hour of calls, couple dozen emails, and an hour or so of music, 3G connected all the time, and about an hour browsing). Calibration is the key to getting good battery life. Even with heavy usage (3 hours calls, 2 hours music, Wifi connected four hours and heavy browsing and some gaming) My battery still lasts over 12 hours.
Most buggy... depends really on ROM. The build I'm using now (see sig) is [knock on wood] pretty flawless. I've not had an error in the three days I've been using it so far, but not everyone is as lucky as me. Your milage WILL vary. Some roms work perfect for some and are horrendous for others.
Again, I've not found an app that doesn't work yet. HD2 is a top of the line spec phone, so if something doesn't work on it, the app itself is usually at fault.
The touch screen is AMAZING, easily the best I've used and compares well to the Desire HD's screen.
Overclocking is pointless. End of story. You have a 1Ghz processor in the HD2, unless you're planning to take over the world why would you need anything more than that to play Angry Birds?

Quadrant scores are useless too. They really just measure how modified your kernel is to fit the test - it doesn't really translate to real life usage at all.
I have tried pretty much every build there is and I have settled on the CM6 builds being the most stable and smoothest. I started using Shubcraft(RMNET) in August and since then I tried out all kinds of Sense builds. After a day or two with the sense builds I always got tired of the lag that there is in sense, or other problems like the camera not working in some sense builds, or the PPP connection being so unstable.
I am now using Michyprima's daily CM6 build. It is very stable, I get through a day(8am-10pm) everyday even w/ pretty heavy use. My only complaint is that there are still TS freezes (even though I read they are supposed to be fixed), the PPP data connection freezes too frequently, and sometimes the screen takes a little while to wake up.
The phone is quite usable for day to day use, but it isn't free of bugs like your MT Slide is.

Free of bugs? Haha how funny. The Froyo Sense build I'm running has no keyboard lights, a few buttons don't work, and the browser force closes if java is enabled.

lol at the above. And just to reiterate, any and all benchmark scores are ultimately pointless. It's how it actually performs which only you can judge, not be told by a bunch of numbers which can be synthetically bumped up and still produce a competely unstable heap of poo.

for this statement you have been awarded the "i dont know **** about technology" prize !

u can well notice the improvement in all programs that push the phone to its limits ie : gameloft games , pocket legends , browser with flash , homescreen smoothness(only with sense)
also , u know whats the difference between ati hd4870 and 4890 ? nothing , but the clockrate , try telling any1 who works with technology clockrate is pointless .. oh wait u already did

And you've been awarded the "I don't know jack about phones" prize too. I know full well that overclocking a processor increases cycles per second and overall throughput but that means absolutely nothing unless all you care about is benchmarks. I prefer to have a stable phone that doesn't reboot on me ever, and plays EVERYTHING ON THE MARKET perfectly, thanks. Go troll elsewhere. And maybe you should listen to the kernel devs who say overclocking is NOT necessary.
I am about to get one of the phones above. I'm leaning more towards the Atrix. But the thing I like about the Desire Z is obviously Sense is way better than Blur. There are a lot more roms available for it. HTC apps included with it are very unique such as locations and other one. But this is phone is going to be outdated pretty soon. The Atrix is gonna be good for the long-term.
So please I need suggestions.
Thank You
i have ( had ) both
if u want a keyboard and like to flash roms, get the desire z
if u dont want a keyboard, desire hd
if u want battery life / stable, no rom , get the atrix
u can somewhat de-blur it
Thanks a lot for your reply. I'm pretty sure the Atrix is where its at. But do you think more roms will appear in the Atrix forum? The Bell Atrix just got released today, so maybe more developers can put something on.

just got an Atrix
Was switching from Desire Z.
There is NO reason to get a Z other than the keyboard.
Everything else, including: screen, batterylife, responsiveness is worse than the Atrix.
All this nag about Motoblur = BS. I have zero issues with it, I find it responsiveness and although I love Sense from HTC DZ, its not worth it.

You just got an Atrix... How old is your phone precisely?
No disrespect but usually problems don't start appearing from day one... they start bothering you and start annoying you after a bit of use...
Besides, who likes which ROM is their personal preference...
If you are saying Everything else except keyboard is worse on DZ, I don't think so... I have changed lots of phones in past few months and finally I liked DZ... It works fantastic for me...
"mahgiaz47" if you are looking for a new phone, it really depends on what you like.
If you like flashing different ROMs, go for DZ as there is no ROM available for Atrix as of now, also, its brand new, released in states about a month ago, released here in Canada just today... It will take time for Devs to get ROM support for Atrix.
Even though Atrix has got Dual Core processor, you can OC the DZ to 1.9 GHz, which makes the phone run amazingly fast. Yes it will eat up your battery faster than usual... but even if you run your phone at somewhere between 1 GHz and 1.5 GHz, it should easily give you about a day without needing a to plug-in your phone.
I have played those games on my DZ where the game spec doesn't even mention the phone in recommended list, runs absolutely smooth, without any glitches or slowness.
But, to have a dual-core processor itself is a big deal, which means incase if we will be able to OC Atrix in future, they will run at a speed of a P4 laptop...
All of the above is my personal opinion... Just an FYI, I got my phone after the Atrix was launched and was confirmed to be launched on Bell...
You should decide what you want based on your needs...
Note : If you can stare at the screen to do a lot of typing on your phone... go for Atrix, can't go wrong.
Have fun with your new toy
Thanks a lot

After a great 3-years experience with my Hero, the time has come to say goodbye. The Hero was my first android phone and as we all know "You never forget your first" ) .
The bottom part of the touchscreen failed almost completely a few months ago, started having a bad experience trying to type text and use the bottom part of the screen on apps. I had a good deal on my new phone : Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) so I switched to it and I am very happy to see the improvement over Hero's hardware. It's been a good ride but the time has come for new things.
I want to thank all the devs that made and continue to make the magic happen on the Hero so it stays alive. Thank you so much for your dedication !
My heros bottom stopped working, just heat up the top part and put pressure on it and leave it over night . If you dont have your hero anymore then ... Goodbye
I don't have my Hero anymore but I've tried 3 times that and couldn't make it better.

Sorry to hear that, now that we made CM10 for it it could atleast be good for experimenting..
So for the poor fella here (ME!) with not much money to waste but with lots of time to test out the custom roms (especially with Jelly Bean) would the Hero be a good buy? and would it run Angry Birds and Where's My Water? (so that way my GF would not complain that I got a phone that couldn't handle her two favorite games lol)
Thanks
Well go with BeastSense or SHPONGLE for gaming. you could run ICS and Jelly but they would be fairly slow, slow as in Call of duty on pentium 2 . And in Jellybean or ICS you can forget gaming , Jellybean and ICS are just for daily drivers as in calling texting and stuff like that

Oh, so the custom roms that have ICS or Jellybean are not made for gaming? So for that I would have to stick to the latest Android that the phone can run (official firmware) Right?
Thanks
Well ICS and JB are not ment for better hardware then we do letalone our hardware It says minimum adreno 2xx we have 130 so no hardware acceleration. As for ROM use the fastest stable ROM i wouldnt go for stock since they are not OC'd and a lot of stuff is on so it's ****ty, use BEASTSense by icebox, he took 2.1 stock and made a beast out of it. Get a good OC app and OC your phone as much as you can (I can go to 672/692 MHz without any issues thats 100 MHz on stock) It should help. If you want gaming on a cheap phone go for something that has a decent GPU and RAM. Wildfire S is a good option, they have ICS and JB that i think you can play games on, but no matter what your phone is the best thing for gaming is tweaked low android version, preferably no custom UI like Sense, TouchWIZ, MotoBlur and stuff like that. There are some mods that can rip Sense UI out of a phone so if you want your Hero to be a gamer phone go with BEAST, OC, remove sense, get a light launcher like launcherpro and play
Hey, guys!
So, I know that internally Milestone2 and DEFY/DEFY+ are the same (chipset, CPU, GPU, camera module) and I'm absolutely okay with that. Latest CM10 builds work incredibly good on the DEFY. So, I know I would be happy with Milestone2 on CM10 experience pretty much the same
But! Other than internals... How good is the Milestone2? How good is the build quality? Are there some common failures that occur? Is the keyboard good? The keyboard sliding mechanism is built to last?
I really love my DEFY+, but I would LOVE to have the actual keyboard. Other than that, i see that M2 has a dedicated camera button, that's a nice touch, too
Please share some experience! And no need for anyone to tell me that it's old/outdated, it's still a good phone and it's definitely good enough for me, so please no recommendations on other phones, just your experiences with the M2! :fingers-crossed:
If you just use CM10 its ok..
Milestone 2 have not too much modding like Defy+ (on roms variation).
And the keyboard for me is fine.. some user sometimes have a debounce problem but its has a "apk" solution

CM10 is all I need, yes, and since I see that the builds are pretty much the same as the one for DEFY (how could they not be, it's the same hardware) I know it'll be great
Debounce problem... Please explain more, I have no idea what that means
Thanks for the reply!
*EDIT* Got it! Debounce = double pressing Okay. I guess it doesn't happen on new phones? Cause I'm looking at buying a new one. But since there is a fix available anyway... Not a big issue, I'd say!

there is a fix that SOLVES the problem for sure.
Search for "MS2 Debounce-debug.apk"
I bought MS2 because at that time it was the only smartphone with stand alone GPS and real keyboard (big +).
That means you have GPS and don't have to make data traffic in roaming , can be pretty expensive if you travel around continent.

So it's bent because of the drops or because of usage (how old is it, if this is the case?) or every M2 is just like that since brand new? If it's like that since it comes out of the factory... Does it disturb the usage anyhow?
Thank you!
Is 2 years old , comes OK from factory , mine is bent because is under my ass sometimes
Does not disturb the usage, but the space between the 2 sides, is not that equal as it was out of the box.
I'm 84kg ,... if this is relevant ))))))

I'm 64kg, so I guess it would sustain my a$$ a bit better (no offense intended, of course!)
It's sounds like it's (the phone ) tough enough for me (not meaning just my a$$)
*EDIT* A question I forgot earlier... How's the battery? I see that it's merely 1400mAh, which is smaller than the standard DEFY one (1540mAh) and I guess I'm kinda used to my + version (1700mAh) :/
The specs say that M2 has got a lot longer stand-by and talk times than the DEFY, though. How is that possible?
mine is 1390mAh , what can I say ,.... I'm charging once in 2/3 days ... sometimes 4 i guess ,.. but u have to replace stock froyo for that.
Sure you can run empty in less than 1 day if 5/6 applications are running on wireless + display + keyboard used for hours.
I don't talk to much, twice a day would be average+ 1 or 2 hours of wireless / day . For the rest of the time wireless and background data are off.
Alarm rings & vibrates every morning for at least 30 min ))) once in 5 minutes, or 10 ?? I will never find out I guess , I'm too sleepy )
Scheduled airplane mode from 2:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Hope it helps

*EDIT* A question I forgot earlier... How's the battery? I see that it's merely 1400mAh, which is smaller than the standard DEFY one (1540mAh) and I guess I'm kinda used to my + version (1700mAh) :/
The specs say that M2 has got a lot longer stand-by and talk times than the DEFY, though. How is that possible?

The battery is not great, specially after a few dozens rom flashing around the clock and different tries, but there is a 2400mah battery the same size as the original one you can find around and it's cheap (it was something like 9/10£ with shipping for me, despite me living outside uk) that i'm testing right now.
Battery duration is quite better, and the battery is detected normally for charge capacity, prediction and such.
On top of that people messed around/tried different governors/voltages and got an undervolt setting that gives quite good result and is stable.
Overall the Tezet's CM10 (and sfc3001's CM9 despite a bit lagging behind now due to him being busy IRL) are really good and stable with a low number of bugs/problems that are *mostly* problems present on DEFY/DEFY+ because overall the MS2 CM roms are port of the Defy ones (with some tweaks like hardware acceleration, and so on coming from other Moto phones like the MS1 or the Atrix from memory).
Answer to your question is - No, don't buy it.

Why?
Ashareth, thanks for the reply! :good:
Phones without moving parts are more reliable than phones using flex cables.
Debounce is not a problem here, simply because I don't use hw keyboard. Swype is faster than hw keyboard and since I don't open the m2, will be harder to break the lcd flex - that is essential to use the phone.
Hi
IMHO you get great value for a really cheap price. I paid 200€ without contract on amazon.de
basically because it was one of the very few available with HW keyboard. Non rooted I was very disappointed mainly
due to the low speed and bloatware. But performance and experience with CM10 is great!
Sum : Best HW keyboard phone for that price range

Poor battery, bad performance, no good rom alternatives. I got this phone to replace my old HTC Diamond, now I see that old htc was more reliable than this. MM2 is my first and last Motorola product that I paid for.
I still like the MS2 (hey, it's got a hw keyboard!), but I'm not too enthusiastic about CM10 on it.
I mean, I really appreciate tezet's current work (also sfc3001's CM9 before, and tezet's CM7), I love CM10 per se, but I think it's pushing too far the MS2: even with a 1.2GHz OC processor, smartassV2, SIO scheduler, and less than 30 apps installed it's sometimes almost too laggy for me.
When I open the dialer or the contacts app, I want it to launch (almost) immediately, not after seconds.
It also kills the possibility of a full multi-task operation, constantly having only 50-100MB free ram.
Anyway, if you decide to buy it, and you're not too addicted to CM10's bonuses (as I, sadly, am), I'd suggest to try CM7 by tezet, which IMHO can give you the best of this phone's hw-sw performance combo.

I'm +1 this. Totally agree.
CM10 is great (I'm also too much comfortable with CM10's features :/ ), but it IS slow. It is not that slow, as stock Froyo ROM of course (that was really pain in the... ), but I think CM10 is even slower than stock GB
(but hey! I have to say, that's not tezet's fault of course... JB is just too much for M2 HW probably...)
I would recommend CM7 too or stock GB (or ROMs based on it) if you don't rely on CM10 functions... I will probably go back to one of these too, since I really need (and like) speed and smoothness... CM10 is great, but definitely not fast or smooth - and I don't even mention the slowness, in case you are out of free RAM...
Cm7 in my opinion it's the best rom for our miles2. After the last update, the battery is much better than previous version.

Honestly, as much as the MS2 is good (great) you should look out for another phone currently, because there is better (more recent) choices out there for roughly the same price.
If you buy it new, it's still prohibitive since most vendors still list it around 300€ new.
If it's used, unless you manage to find one under 100€ it's not worth it (most of them are sold close to 180/200€ from what i've seen).
You're better of going after a Galaxy Nexus/Galaxy SII if you don't need the hw keyboard. If you do need it it's another question since there is not much choices out there, and MS2 is still one of the best.
@ Ashareth: Sorry, but when you are talking about "better (more recent) choices out there for roughly the same price." - do you refer to smartphones in general
or with HW keyboard ?
In my opionion the choice of HW keyboard phones is very, very limited sadly. Not that I am trying to defend here the milestone 2, but I am seeking myself for a potential
alternative. My contract ends soon and I could get cheaply a new phone, but with HW keyboard ? Bummer, there is not much out there, especially outside the US
Another point, I would be interested in would be the speed of CM7. I am running CM10 at the moment but couldnt run CM7 due to 2.36 kernel. Is the speed comparable with the MS2Ginger ? Its the only one I tested so far ....

:fingers-crossed:

why do you want to buy a machine two years ago.Even it s just locked with a out-date system.
I've read amazing things about the Android Revolution ROM, and I can see from the poll how it has (apparently) way more users than any other ROM.
So I have a question for Revolution fans: now that I'm addicted to the look and feel and small and big features of Jellybean ... how can I possibly go back to a Gingerbread environment?
No kidding, sell me to the idea because I can't bear myself to seriously try it, as I feel like GB will somehow make my device older, slower, feature-poor, unwieldy, etc.
(I was there when GB was the latest and sexyest, and I loved it, up untill ICS and then JB came along)
I guess it is all just a mental hickup of mine.
So please, help me get past it ... tell me what would be the catch in going back to a GB environment
Sent while drunk
That explains a lot... good thing I chose to wait until next morning to reply XD
Drunk or not, but ARHD v10 ICS Sense4 is coming nevertheless!
good to know
but it still doesn't answer my doubts... which then will become ICS-vs-JB instead of GB-vs-JB
with gb your camera working better
your device is faster and the quality of sound is awesome..jb doesnt fit to your device you like it or not
you have desire hd i supose right?
yep, I've got a DesireHD bought 3 years ago, in Italy.
So you're saying that performance (and various apps, like Camera) is actually better ... considerind how Jellytime and Cyanogen are behaving in a bat**** crazy way in the past few days (and the new CodefireXperimental 4.3 is yet to come out) I guess I'll give it a try
Is 7.3 the latest for DHD? ...from the original Revolution post it seems the latest would be 9.0 but I can't find the download link for my device
Ok, scratch that last part, I'm more asleep than I originally thought ... found the 9.0 files XD

I doubt the camera in Sense 4 is any worse, and on AOSP you can always install MIUI one from GB which does a really decent job on DHD.
SQ is also great on Sense4. Now as for the "faster", this is a bold stament. To be more specific GB is more responsive, better on multitasking, but ICS/JB is way smoother (there is no comparison when browsing) and it still isn't slow or laggy at all.
use this rom
