The hd2 was locked on T-Mobile. I acquired a code to unlock the phone. Will it relock the phone if I load a custom winmo ROM??
no.

Well today i was trying to install a custom rom to my friend's phone, i rooted the phone, installed CWM, and i tried to install CM7, but it gave me error, so i rebooted the phone, and it turned on normally, so i researched a little more and i saw that i had to unlock bootloader and update other things, i didnt know this because i have a galaxy 5 and you just have to root, install CWM and you are ready, so i tried to unlock boorloader to the x8, i executed msm7227 and there were some errors but at the end it said that everything was done, so i pressed a button from the phone, but nothing happened, so i tried to turn it on, but nothing happened, i pull off the battery and pull it on again but nothing, i tried everything so i realized it was hardbricked, now my friend is going to claim his warranty.
I told him that i never was going to touch his phone again xd, but maybe someday he will want me to install a custom rom on his phone, so my question is if there is someway to unlock bootloader, to a new phone, he may recieve a new one, so obviously is going to have a newer date, is there someway?
you have to install roms for STOCK kernel, no need to unlock bootloader, but i think its too late now lol.

Keep trying with PC Companion!! And why you people unlock bootloader with msm7227??? When I unlocked with it, I have a lot of problems with signal,SIM card and s*it like that, so I try with flashtool and yes, everythings is good!

Simple.
Flashtool = Safe but inflexible (in the name of safety they prevent you from unlocking BL with certain settings that sometimes really don't matter)
MSM7227_tool.exe is much more flexible, no restrictions, and IS AS SAFE as flashtool provided you read the guides properly and executed their instructions properly.
I might want to point out that Flashtool's BL unlock came directly from the MSM7227 BL unlock tools.

i didn't know that. hm.. so when i decide to try to unlock my bootloader, would you recommend using MSM7227_tool.exe over flashtool? i've only used flashtool for getting out of softbricks. is it more complicated than unlocking with flashtool?
btw i have 11w48 so im prbably getting 99% hardbrick. lol. i'm just saving for a new phone before i take that plunge into the abyss.

Er... I recommend you don't unlock BL, but if you must, Flashtool is less complicated to understand how to use, MSM tool is more flexible (doesn't force you to stock 2.1 before it unlocks BL ).
Both are basically one-click anyway.

Yeah, MSM will allow you to unlock regardless of os version, but Flashtool has some restrictions for safety's sake (though most are not needed).

I hope no one will respond, there are plenty of threads about this along the sticky, just need to search a little, if you can't even do that, don't unlock bootloader or do any other tweak, it is beyond your capabilities.
Sent from my R800i using XDA
If you just search all will be revealed. But the first step is easy search for doomlords zergrush, 2nd is type in *#*#7378424#*#* (it should spell service) go to service info and click configuration and if it says unlock bootloader status: no or nothing you have to pay and alejandrissimo is supposed to be the best. If it says yes your good to go. As for flashing Rom I haven't done one yet but you need flashtool and just search the development forums
i rooted my xperia play r800i with UNLOCK root u can go to the site and check if the build number of ur phone is there (note:each time u scroll down a new devices will appear so scroll down untill u find sony and if ur build number is there u can download the program and click root but click usb debugging ((i didnt write all the information u should check how to do it in the unlock root site but dont get out ur phone while the program is rooting ur device and if its bricked its not my problem im just telling u an information
This is a video tutorial for my guide that can be found here, i felt it was best to make a new thread to keep the thread clean.

OK so i was looking around for a easy to use guide i could refer someone to and couldn't find one so i decided to create 1.
With this method you wont need to download the android SDK and instead can download a small package of files that i will upload. this saves around 1-2GB of bandwidth.
Firstly we should confirm your phone can be unlocked. To check if your phone can be rooted (most likely if it is not branded to 3, Vodafone etc then it can be)
Go to the phone dialer
Tap*#*#7378423#*#* then a service menu should pop up,
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. if it says boot loader unlock allowed then you are good to go.
if it says not allowed or no then you will need to pay to have the boot loader unlocked.
Now we need to get your IMEI to do this type in the dialer *#06# another window will appear with your IMEI number write this down somewhere as you will need it later.
OK so now that you know your phone BL can be unlocked we will need to download and extract these files

If you have r800x it won't say anything because Verizon removed that from menu so people don't unlock but you can still unlock it with sonys website.

You have to install fastboot then: just download the ADT and install platform and platform-tools.
It will create a folder under C:\Programs\Android\AndroidSDK\platform-tools (don't remember id it's correct lol, it's been a while since I used fastboot lol).
There you'll find adb and fastboot (make sure you follow the instruction under Sony's development site to install drivers and unlock your bootloader).

Good day my friends:laugh:
I will show you how to relock the bootloader of XZ
Flashtool version used: flashtool-0.9.10.2beta
Download the latest Flashtool ( found in OG android development forum)
Install the Flashtool drivers found in the drivers folder
Connect phone in Flash-mode (phone shut down, volume down + power)
Press the BLU button
Press the relock option
Put a stock .tft firmware in the Flashtool firmwares folder (this is required!!)
Flash the firmware (this is required!!)
Done
You will now have a locked stock xperia z
Extra info by Flashtool developer:
A litte explanation :about relocking / unlocking :
When relocking the device, I save the unlock code into custom\DEVICESERIAL\unlock.txt
If ever you relocked using another method than BLU from FT (with a custom ftf for example), then you must create this file by hand to be able to unlock the device again.
This file must contain the unlock code. One line only, no carriage return.
i am not responsible for bricked devices
can you link to the Flashtool version you are using just to save any confusion
is it no any problem after using this method to relock Xperia Z???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162907
The OP describes more about relocking and then unlocking again.
Would this be enough for a warranty repair/replace? Or would, say, Amazon have access to a list of unlocked device IMEIs?
