The hd2 was locked on T-Mobile. I acquired a code to unlock the phone. Will it relock the phone if I load a custom winmo ROM??
no.
......
samsamuel ( I wish I had a name like that ) is correct.

Hi I want to sim unlock my hd2, and then install Nandroid operating system onto it. Will this effect the sim unlock? , was talking to a man in a shop and he said it might. Its one I have for sale and someone wants this doing to it, Its locked to T mobile uk at the moment.
p.s did do a quick search but am at work so shouldnt be on her
Thanks
Short answer is NO.
If you want to sim unlock your device you need to contact your provider.
Go to a store where they can unlock it for you or buy a code on the internet.
Good Luck
thanks for the reply, but what i meant was if i have it unlocked, then install nandroid will this remove the sim unlock?
No, i can guarantee you it wont. I got mine unlocked and had no problem switching SIM cards in WP7, Android or WM 6.5 . Cheers.
quick question to anyone that can answer this....
can you sim unlock while android is installed..i called tmobile requested the code but dkno if i can unlock with android running
I'm not 100% guaranteed, but i think that even runing android you can unlock your phone
I'd assume that you would be able to once Android recognizes your IMEI so yeah it should work.

This is exactly what I did, so I can guarantee that unlocking from android works perfectly.

Hi, and if i will re-flash a WM ROM???
the unlock will be?
Let's say this once, for the benefit of anyone else who reads this thread:
SIM UNLOCKING YOUR HD2 IS UNAFFECTED BY ROM CHANGES.
Once you SIM unlock the device, regardless of operating system currently installed, it will stay SIM unlocked even through ROM changes, including WP7/Android/WM6.5/etc/etc.
i have t-mobile hd2 install cm7 rom on it , its that mean the phone its unlock that i can used any sim card or take to different counrty to uses? im plan to go to asia .please help and how can i check my phone its unlock or not

the easiest way to check is to put a different sim card into it(like att) and it will ask you for sim unlock pin if it's locked, if it doesn't and get's mobile signal right away then it's unlocked.
I don't think installing CM7 ROM will unlock the phone. The best way is to call T-mobile to get the phone unlocked. It's free and super easy if you have an voice plan in good standing.

Yes, it will. I got code and unlocked the hd2 with WM and no problem since there. I can work with any SIM from any operator.

if you unlocked it when using windows then it should be permanent no matter what operating system you put on

Doesn't matter. Unlocking the phone is based on the IMEI number of the phone and not the build it is using. The IMEI number will not change no matter what build you load onto the phone.

Can't tell by your signature where you are located but if you are in America, you can contact T-Mobile online, give them the IMEI number to your phone, then they will send you in a couple of days, the instructions and unlock code for your phone.

Get unlock code from provider or buy one online.

Easy!
No need any unlock code! just hack your HSPL, and flash a new radio, your phone will automatically unlock!
Android is not native to HD2 so I'm sure it is ALREADY unlocked

You're both incorrect here, unlocking usually refers to a sim unlock, therefore flashing a new ROM will have no effect on unlocking the phone. As the people above you said, you have to buy an unlock code, input the new sim then enter the unlock code (or something along those lines, haven't done it before).
Also, why bother reopening an old, solved thread simply to post an answer to a question which has already been answered? If you're trying to get 10 posts, do it on the newer threads, not the ones from early 2011.

Hello,
Pull out the battery,
See the date at the sticker [Not sticker on Battery]
If the Sticker read 11w29 And ++, DO NOT unlock the bootloader.
U can see Thread Here : Hard brick warning - read before boot loader unlock
If U Device Can Unlock bootloader,
See Thread Here : Bootloader and kernel guide
Peace,

I'm convinced, that phone is locked, as unlocked bootloader requires special kernel
And your bro haven't got it yet
To make sure:
A) Download S1tool : From http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...0&postcount=26
B) Shut Down Phone
C) Open S1tool, Click on DO JOB, Press Back on phone, Connect it to PC.
D) Look For Line RUNNING S1_EROM VER "x8A029"
E) if x is "r" then it is unlocked
F) if x is "R" then locked
G) Look For Line "XXXX SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE"
H) if XXXX is "NOT RECOGNIZED" then sorry, it can't be unlocked.

Try HTC SuperTool by ACSyndicate. Try searching for it, it is an application that work well with windows 7 (haven't tried it with anything else). It will attempt to s-off your phone as long as other things.

He's asking about network unlock not bootloader......
We tried for many days to find an unlock method but it never was found..... You will have to pay for a service.

It has the option to s-off your device which switches off the sim lock. I haven't had to try it though but it is something you can try
