I think it's more like $150-$200 difference without a contract.
With the Galaxy S you get a front-facing camera, as well as an unlocked phone without carrier logos plastered on the front - which alone might be worth it to many.
I also much prefer the large middle button on the Galaxy S, than the 4-button array on the carrier phones.
I understand the front facing camera and I much prefer the design of the I9000 but if I buy Captivate it will be with 2yr contract and I don't know if it is enough to justify the extra cash especially if I cannot upgrade to iPhone 4 and sell for profit.
If my Samsung Captivate is rooted the software on both devices will be the same correct?

Do you live in an area with 1900mhz 3g coverage? If not, you will be able to use only edge with the i9000.
I bought the SGS for AT&T because of the front camera, no AT&T tampering, and I prefer the SGS look over the Captivate. Also, I don't live anywhere near 3g, so I'm okay with just edge. But it did cost me an arm and a leg.
Is there a map where I can see 850 mhz v 1900 mhz I found one but it is old
A map would be great.
In my part of Los Angeles, I get 3G/H on AT&T probably 70% of the time, the rest is E.
well I decided to purchase the Samsung Captivate, but would still like a map in case I decide to switch within 30 days
It might also be possible for you to get the dumb phone data plan if you have an international version of the Galaxy S because AT&T probably wouldn't have their IMEI numbers... But then again, I'm not 100% sure on how they do their sweeps so dont quote me on this
Afaik you won't be able to use custom roms, becouse of diffrences that captivate has. So yes its worth to pay more...

Does it have all the features that are missing in different versions of this phone? Such as camera flash, front camera etc?
Bell Canada is getting this phone, but it won't have flash. Not sure what other differences it will have.

international version is the first version to come out and no it does not have camera flash, but it does have front camera. I got mine from ebay.

Is there a version of this phone that has all the features? Sounds like the Bell Canada one will be the same as the international one.
Most importantly, the international model is 900/2100 mhz only while at&t is 850/2100 mhz. So big difference in radios

Nope. It's not on the horizon for Verizon. They have the Galaxy Nexus which has the same HD screen but slightly smaller. That is the closest you will find.
Also I might add, the only carrier in the US that the note works 100% on with no compromises is ATT (or smaller carriers using ATT's network). Other carriers may work like Tmobile but with edge (slow internet) or not at all.

At least it is not an iphone. The lte feature will be useless for most until iphone lte makes its ulgy apperance.
I am so glad I got mine before AT&T gets a hold of it and bloats it up and put LTE on it and kills the great battery life. No thanks! I will stick with HSPA+, better battery life, no bloat, and timely updates. I have my skyrocket for LTE and NFC etc. One upside will be that there will be more cases etc to choose from once it launches here in the USA.
I am sure AT&T will announce it at CES coming up.
I'm on AT&T and care not. Love my international version. I just hope AT&T doesn't cook up some crappy new plan for the Note since the average consumer will closely identify it with a tablet (because of screen size and stylus). That may impact us users on our current data plan...

True, but probably accurate. They have to stick their logo on it and cram the Samsung name in between the screen and capacitive buttons like they did the skyrocket.

I prefer the 4 capacitive buttons like the Nexus S, more functional and I hate the home button in the international version. It also gets NFC.
But if the snapdragon rumors are true, then I definitely would keep my international version over US version.
Frankly, I find the physical home button fugly as hell. But to each their own!

I feel it is the opposite. Part of the reason there are so many Iphone accessories, is that there is only one Physical version.

Why would they mangle a beautiful device like that? I hate capacitive buttons. Besides, with the S-pen gesture recognition, they aren't even necessary. They're just there to be accidentally pressed when you're trying to hold the thing in landscape.
Same here. By the time at&t gets enough LTE penetration in the USA market, the Note 3 or 4 will be out LOL.
I prefer a manufacturer device, than a carrier branded device. Less bloat & crippling.

Couldn't agree with you more. This device's attractiveness comes with the ability to take notes and the more obstructions the less attractive that beautiful option becomes.

Sadly, he euro note has no nfc chip. Lucky you guys lol im forced to get the att note, but at least its better then ny infuse. I hope someone can port cm9 over to the att note, as there should be very little differences inbetween other then lte and nfc.
I really hope tmobile get this phone

It's really up to you but you'll be paying a premium getting the international unlocked version of the phone. I payed 649$ on Amazon. But it won't have the carrier bloatware, if you get the UK version you won't have LTE which can be a plus depending on your coverage area and if you don't mind having a lowered battery life. There is also the processor which is different the international version has the exynos which is a lot better than the snapdragon processor going to be put in the US release. To each his own in the end but I'm glad that I got the international version, best phone I've ever owned period and I will continue to use it until the next version comes out. I'll most likely import that too hahaha

I just hope they can keep the body style that same. It really takes away from the accessory market. Having 5 variants of the same phone is silly (minus the internal differences).

I wish they made 2 versions of the S3 just like the S2. One international-like version for people who don't even have LTE in their area and followed by the LTE version. I'd take quad core over LTE any day...

But the S4 dual core is no sloth...its a beast! plus 2gig of ram ...the thing will fly.
its might actually be better than the international model....especially if you are in an LTE area.
More cores doesn't necessarily mean more power keep that in mind... the S4 is still quite powerful for a mobile device. I do however hope that they keep the same exterior design on the US models. I don't think it will be too much different though... At least I hope not, though it does say that the different versions are customized for each carrier. We do know that T-Mobile is keeping the original design.

Even AT&T is using stock Samsung photos (No carrier branding.) So far only the Verizon version has been photographed.

most likely they will all look the same..especially with having such a close release date as the international model.
with the S2 it took like 6 months before the US model was released.

Nice find, if they are using stock photos I think they would probably go with an unaltered device. Misled customers tend to be pissed customers.
Either way, it's the International version for me.
Well now that they have been announced I have a questions are there any differences between them ? Will they both get the same Dev support ? I made the mistake of buying the galaxy 2 from tmobile and worse decision I ever did had to get rid of it and buy a gnex since the support for the galaxy s2 was the worst and always behind..... Since I have tmobile might ass well use one of my upgrades and save some money on the lg4 just making sure I won't be stuck getting late updates or have luck of support like some people with the Verizon galaxy nexus are having but I understand why since they are using lte which changes the phone around......

NO! Pay $150 more to not have to worry about a contract, PLUS pay less with a Value or Pre-Paid Tmo plan.
It is too soon to tell if there will be a software difference. Anyone who says differently needs to provide a link showing proof.
The hardware will be the same.
Actually, it seems that the T-Mobile version will have 42mbps HSPA+, while the version in the google play store only goes up to 21mbps HSPA+.
Other than that, I would assume they would be identical.

FFS people. There are not two versions. It has 8GB or 16GB, those are the SKUs. They're both 42mbps HSPA+.

My bad, I saw the 21 earlier and I thought it was some deal between T-Mobile and Google. The Galaxy Nexus international and US unlocked versions were identical hardware-wise, and since there won't be a CDMA version, there shouldn't be any differences with the Nexus 4

Not hardware-wise, but there could be software-wise.
Look at all the yakju variants, which are identical hardware, but different software.

Im on a family plan and planning to keep tmobile since I have 3 lines in this account so wasting an upgrade doesn't really bother me
