Hd2 main flex ribbon - HD2 General

I fixed my girl friend up an hd2. Had enough spare parts to make another. Well all I'm missing is the main flex ribbon which connects the camera, volume buttons, and wifi to the mother bored. My question is if the t8585 is compatible with my T-Mobile USA hd2. They seem to be identical but I don't wanna risk having to pay 45$ and it not working. As you can tell those functions are important to actually enjoy the hd2. Any help would be appreciated.

There's no problem to replace main flex ribbon with no matter what version: EU/Intl. version with US/TMo version.

[Q] T9193 hardware in a T Mobile T8585

I have both phones.
The T Mobile is in much better shape (in additional to the extra mem) and I was wondering how hard it would be to swap just the cell transmitter / receiver.
thx in advance
Arent most SoCs have everything soldered down on the motherboard? The only things that are not soldered down are stuff like camera and screen, since those are connected through ribbons. If you somehow are able to pull it off, I'd be dumbfounded lol.
I was hoping that the 'Receiver P/N 36H00838-00M' was different on each phone.
I went ahead and pulled and swapped.
I was a little lucky - neither was bricked - but no joy.
The T Mobile tried to maintain a E connection (failed) and the 9193 didn't do anything.
I swapped the Receivers back so I'm where I started.
Except for data speed I truly like the T Mobile a lot more. I feel like the display is better (and the extra mem is really great!!)

blimey, skills. nice one. Wanna come swap out my cracked screen for me? my hands shake farrr to much. hehe
Presumably when you swapped the receivers you also updated the radios appropriately? I recently got a 8585 and was pondering purchasing a receiver to try what you describe here.
Are you going to sell your T9193? I may be in need of the motherboard from it to repair mine and have been trying to find someone with one they'd sell cheap. Does your T9193 work just fine?
Thanks
-Drew
Ndarkstar, if you try this would you let me know of the results? Like my last post said my T9193 motherboard is going and it would be way cheaper if I could just switch out the receiver to get 3G with ATT than to buy another phone from Australia. I plan on also PMing you with this Ndark, just in case you dont see this post. Thanks

I actually want to try the same thing. Did anyone have any success? I have a T9193 with a bad digitizer and a working T8585. Also, I wonder if I can swap the entire mainboard from the T9193 into the T8585? I know the LCD and Digitizer in the T8585 are slightly different but will all the connectors fit? Any input would be appreciated.

HTC HD2 "Spare" Internal Parts?

Do any of you know where to get "spare" parts for these devices? I recently came across an HD2 with a broken USB connector and I need to get a new circuit board and hardware buttons... just wondering if any of you knew of any sources?
Same problem here. Broken usb and answer and return buttom broken. Htc charges to much for repairing..... Bought a desire hd instead.... Good luck searching.

just to add on this. type "faulty" or "damaged" for mobile phones and you'll come up with a host of devices that're being sold cheap. you can then further filter it down to htc and you should get a few. saw one the other day with the volume keys malfunctioning.
Any of you guys still got your old, broken HD2 lying around?
I damaged the one of the pins on my wifi module after replacing the touch-screen digitizer, now I'm only getting 10-20% signal strength over wifi.
I can't find the part anywhere and wondered if anyone would be up for selling theirs, either the module or whole broken phone?

My screen stopped responding a few days ago. Pretty sure its a HW problem since I've flashed to different working ROMs and it doesn't respond to anything. I'm still debating if I should invest in fixing it or a new phone. If the price is right, I'd be willing to sell it. PM me

[Q] YABD: Non-working touchscreen.

YABD - Yet Another Broken Digitiser.
A couple of months ago my hd2 decided it didn't like me anymore and wouldn't respond to touch input. I gave up on it, but I'm really missing it and have been looking to get it fixed.
I've been looking at digitizers on ebay (non-soldering type)
Could someone who's done this please help me and point out if either one of this is the right kind?

I have the T-Mobile HD2 but am in the UK. From what I've read the T-Mobile version has the "plug-in type" so it should be what I need.
well, just try searching tmous lcd
but the thing is that our device is quite old and there might not be anything left

I've been a few months without my HD2 and got an Infuse to tide me over. My HD2 had the same problem and HTC said repairs would be as high as $160. I bought the glass for $26 thinking that I have replaced one on an Aria, iphone4 and repaired someone else's work on an iPhone4, so this should be cake. I watched every video I could find, got all my tools out and with a few undisturbed hours and a well-lit office, set to work... and totally BORKED my phone. The digitizer ended up separating into a deck of mylar-like cards and reintroduced me to its version of 52 card pickup. Disassembling to the point of the touchscreen/digitizer is easy enough, but that touchscreen/digitizer is a b****! I then ordered another glass & digitizer (not already sealed together) and set about putting those in, and... I am back where I started - with a non-responsive touchscreen. I ended up findin an HD2 on craigslist for $100- in winmo only, the touchscreen is sometimes nonresponsive, but haven't had this issue show up in AmericanAndroid, SD version (yet). If you try to do it yourself, watch every video and get this http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-HTC-HD2...005?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b0ad776d for the TMoUS version.
do NOT use the ones in your ebay links as getting the glass separated from the digitizer is FAR more difficult (yes I used plenty of heat) than anyone lets on.
Well, I had attempted a repair on my hd2 (the international one); which I messed up big time.
After reading that comment, I guess I'll just sell for parts.
Problem is, I'm now in the UK, and getting it from the US means having to pay heavy customs charges on top of buying the phone.

[Q] HD2 vs. HD7 - which one to buy?

Yesterday it happened, my beloved HD2 slipped out and hit the floor. The digitizer cracked badly. Phone was still fully functional though. LCD and touch worked fine.
I bought a new digitizer on the spot ($6.50). But while removing the old digitizer I broke the LCD. It's enough, I rather buy a new phone now.
HD2 or HD7 ?
My main concern:
I used Win7 pdaimatejam Rom - and like to use that again, can HD7 use that too? Or is pdaimatejam HD2 only? In which case I certainly buy the HD2 again.
probably still best fixing your current one as LCD is no more than $15. If first time you done one read up well & take extreme care & all will be good.
Buying another good HD2 is not an easy task these days as most have been repaired & not always that well so you could be buying poor repair or even faulty handset.
Have a look at development for HD7 before dropping the idea as a native WP7 device has a few advantages over HD2 ported efforts.
Personally I would be inclined going to a WP8 device if a replacement handset is the final choice.

What are the advantages? Can the HD7 be ported to W7.8?
I ask for HD7 because it sells a little bit cheaper. You are of course right about potentially poorly repaired phones....

HD7 has 7.8.
Main advantage with HD7 is better battery life but besides that it very much like HD2 in hardware.
I would be inclined to go to a Altiv S as on WP8 & hardware quite a leap forward & ROM development should be good, also price is low (is in my region)
If you happy with your current ROM & budget important then repairing current HD2 is way to go really.
HD2 better

In the end that quote was my main concern.
So I went to that cell-hell-mall and change the newly bought digitizer (which I don't need actually since the LCD was now broken too) to a LCD+digitizer combo ($21).
Then I thought, why repair myself - and went to a repair place on the same floor. They quoted me $13 for the change and told me will take an hour. After 30 Minutes I came back and the told my my LCD has no 'touch' - so back to that shop and changed the combo again. I guess they gave me knowingly a defect one. Boy I was glad I opted for the repair on spot option! Next time I will just give it to the repair place, cost is the same anyway.
After another 30 Minutes I got a working phone back, now T-Mobile branded. But it works. So far all functions seem fine.
HD2 is a pain in the *** to repair since they used lots of glue and lots of really sticky tape.
BTW, that repair place a parts mart is in Shenzhen, China.
I forgot another main issue to stick to the HD2: The "pdaimatejam ROM" has Nokia flavor. So I get also Nokia drive - which I totally love.
*cell-hell-mall" I know what you mean we have one here on a complete floor of MBK.
HD2 is actually not too hard but you need to do at least one before you learn how to do it easily & gain knowledge on good part suppliers..
Quality of replacement parts is a nightmare & many have had dead new digi & that really finishes the job off for most as they got parts mail order :-/
For prices you paid repair was worthwhile. Enjoy your pdaimatejam rom

Help htc hd2 issue

Bought a Htc Hd2 of eBay on Friday but it had a fault which caused it to freeze or overheat from time to time the seller said it was a PCB Board problem
Quote from ad ''DUE TO ONE RECURRING INTERMITTENT FAULT WHICH MAKES PHONE FREEZE UP OR IT OVERHEATS LEADING TO IT TURNING IT'SELF OFF WHICH FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IS DUE TO A PCB BOARD ISSUE WHICH CAN BE FIXED IF YOUR TECH SAVVY WITH MOBILE PHONES (WHICH I'M NOT!) ''
so i have a few questions
1. Can anyone confirm this ?
2. Where can i get a replacement ?
3. is it worth it?
Never really done any hardware mods or anything to do with hardware just software so any help appreciated won't forget any help given
CPU BGA faillure, Can be reworked but not worth it. needs a replacement mainboard, you may find a broken screen hd2 cheap on ebay for donor board then sell rest on for parts.
