More likely to be increasing the pool of Beta testers
I installed the this firmware update. It isn't fixing the WIFI and GPS problem.
Release notes from ASUS:
"Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 Firmware: V9.4.2.21 Only for WW SKU (Android 4.0.3)
V9.4.2.21 Release Note
1. Upgrade Google Mobile Applications
2. Upgrade Vibe version
3. New browser function which able to keep user’s choice of browser viewing type
4. Enable battery usage data in Settings.
5. New display mode of HDMI output
6. Enable press-able notification in lock screen
7. Support Wi-Fi Ad hoc mode
8. Add new system bar lock function"
Firmware info, may be read under ASUS DL section.
I noticed a small improvement to the known WIFI problem. I can now get "3 WIFI bars" in locations where I previously only got "2 WIFI" bars. Apparently this fix doesn't involve an improvement to the GPS problem.
Despite these known problem, I am actually very satisfied with my TF201.

Indeed, my bad sorry.
anything new?
I just hope that you owners of the TF101G won't get the same bugs we are experiencing at the moment on TF101.
I just don't understand Asus' strategy on this issue, they have lots of ICS TF101, almost everyone encounters issues at one moment or another. It clearly comes from ICS, as HC was rock solid (stability-wise) and they go on upgrading every available hardware as if everything was just fine ... forcing the update without letting customers the choice do it or not.
I use my TF101 for leisure, but I think there are some people around using for work, and the situation Asus created is just unacceptable.
Asus should fix the problem before continuing the deployment.
That was my 2 cents about the upcoming ICS update for TF101G.
Nickola
You are partially right.
Lots of users are not all users, ICS for TF101G has another version: .3; not .11 or .17.
Maybe asus as made some modification on "base" code (example: new cache flush and memory managing) as well as adding the drivers for the 3G.
Some of this new improvements your can find on next new tf101 firmware release.
Moreover, this also means treating people who have spent more, IMHO.
I hope this happen in very short time.
As a general rule that I practice, I won't update any apps the very moment they have a new version & likewise with firmwares. There are bound to be bugs or incompatibility with whatever apps that you might need to use. However, users in the Asus Transformer forum have both extreme ends of the stick, a group that has loads of issues & a group that has wonderful things to say about ICS!
I'm not sure if it's only me as I haven't had the time to ask questions about why Picasa uploading is absolutely impossible with the Honeycomb. I have tried uploading pictures with the native share of Picasa as well as Picasa Tool but could never do it. I figured it has something to do with Honeycomb because my friend has the same issue with his TF101G & this is why I can't wait to upgrade to ICS. I have only gotten the TF101G in February & it has given me loads of productivity in all-day conferences & workshops where it worked more than 8 hours (with dock) even with heavy computing. Best of all, I could multitask & cross reference to get my work done. Yes, I use it heavily for work.
If I'm not here, I'm underwater...!

A short great news from Engadget China.
it seems an engadget writer got an internal message from ASUS: Android 3.1 is expected to be released within next week, or even, as early as Tuesday.
source: http://cn.engadget.com/2011/05/27/android-3-1-eee-pad-transformer/
Android 3.1 newfeatures:
-UI refinements
-Connectivity for USB accessories
-Expanded Recent Apps list
-Resizeable Home screen widgets
-Support for external keyboards and pointing devices
-Support for joysticks and gamepads
-Robust Wi-Fi networking
-new browser, calendar, contact and email version
-Performance optimizations
etc.
I just got a brand new Transformer yesterday, turned it on and the first thing it did was ask me to update.
I'm almost certain it was to 3.1, I'll check when I get home tonight, but I have already been using the USB ports on it so it would have to be 3.1 wouldn't it?
I'll let you know once I check the version.
Sweet! That is something to look forward too!

No - the USB ports on the dock already work with 3.0.1 for many devices, so that isn't an indicator.
Chances are that your update is just the one released earlier this month, because your TF was probably on a boat on its way from China at that point in time!

Dave

If its a new Transformer, then the update is most likely the Asus Firmware update rather than Honeycomb 3.1 (sorry to bring rain to a parade)
I received mine yesterday, as soon as when I connected to Wifi, I got the update which is 3.0.1.
I highly doubt its out next Tuesday. Especially after what Asus stated on Facebook a few days ago about the release schedule.
Could be, actually: there's a French review video showing 3.1 running on a TF. So, if it's far enough along to be sent on a review unit, it could very well be close to release.
I'll say, if they DO release it as early as next week (or even just within the first 10 days or so of June), then I'll be even more impressed with how Asus is supporting the TF so far.
Interesting update notif
This morning when I woke up, the device was kind a slow. I did a reboot. When it came on, I got an triangle icon with ! mark within saying that there is system update avail, click for update kind of thing.
I right away clicked it. It shown as downloading system update something but then it disappeared pretty quick. I went into system info page but not seeing anything news in term of android, firmware, wifi, bluetooth.... Did several force update request but nothing. So that was an interesting event.
Not sure if it was a internal Google update (map, music..) as we have heard several days now or Asus posted the OTA Android 3.1 for a quick test and pulled it out right away or something.
Anyway, leave a note here in case anyone else had it too.
With my TF being rooted and running custom ROM and kernel I am at the grace of the devs here anyway to release a modified 3.1
cant wait, ive seen it run on xoom, only a week away.....WOW....... not bad on asus' behalf getting the update out quick

Apps are definitely not wiped.
I personally recommend you factory reset after though, just in case you end up one of those with issues after the upgrade. I factory reset mine even though I had no problems. So, backup whatever is on your internal storage that you want just in case you do end up having to wipe it.

ACER ICONIA TAB TABLETS UPDATED TO ANDROID 4.0
Acer Transitions Popular Iconia™ Tab Line to Android 4.0 to Give Customers More Features and Capabilities
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 17, 2012 – Acer America is now updating its award-winning Acer Iconia™ Tab line of tablets with the latest version of Android 4.0 OS (Ice Cream Sandwich).
The update is being pushed to Acer Iconia Tab A200 customers over-the-air now in the United States and will be completed over the following week. The Acer Iconia Tab A100 7-inch tablet and Acer Iconia Tab A500 10-inch tablet will both be updated in April.
With Android 4.0, the Acer Iconia Tab line will provide new features to give customers more usability and enjoyment from their tablets. Customers will notice the improvements right away – including the faster browser, enhanced app and folder management options, more intuitive navigation, and a completely reimaged design that is more polished with enhanced holographic effects. Plus, customers can more easily customize their Acer tablet and will enjoy improved multitasking and switching between tasks. They will also appreciate improved integration with Gmail’s email and calendar functions.
“The many enhancements in Android 4.0 OS complement the sleek, powerful and well-designed Acer Iconia Tab tablets to give customers an all-around first-rate experience,” said Paul Tayar, Director Product Marketing – Connected Devices, Acer America. “Customers will experience greater entertainment and productivity with the new capabilities and features on their tablets.”
Features and Enhancements Unique to Acer Tablets
The new update of Android 4.0 also includes several new features that are unique to Acer tablets. The updated tablets will now feature the highly-customizable Acer Ring, making it incredibly natural and easy to get instant access to favorite apps and features. The Acer Ring can be launched with a single touch and lets customers have quick and easy access to apps, surf the web, capture screen images, post photos and status updates to their social networks, and more.
Customers will also enjoy an improved weather widget and will be able to access their favorite apps even when the screen is locked.
Photos and Video Enhance Memories
Acer Iconia Tab customers will be able to do more with their photos and video thanks to the Android 4.0 update, including improved zoom and the ability to take snapshots while recording video. Customers will also be able to capture better still images and do more with them due to greater image stabilization and improved integration with third party apps. Both video clips and photos can be enhanced on the fly, stored and searched for based on various tags, and conveniently stored on Google+.

You should ask this question on galaxy note forum.
I like to stay with stock so I can get movies and drm stuff,, but beginning to wonder if ICS will ever arrive for the Google IO sub model? I don't suppose anyone has authoritive info?
As far as I know they are a different build than the other tabs and will not be updated. You might be able to do it yourself with Odin.
if you do not want to lose your unlocked and fastboot enabled bootloader, do not flash the odin package as is. remove the bootloader.bin from the package and/or create yourself a CWM zip and flash.
you can use any of the HC zips i created in the past as a guide if you go the CWM route. i believe you can also find CWM flashables for it in the dev section.
however, if you get a rolling screen, you will have to modify the LCD output accordingly in the kernel and use that, so it will be compatible with your current bootloader. you can reference this in the galaxy-2636 kernel sources on my github.
Will any of those approaches preserve ability ti get /run DRM content ire from Google Play (movies?)
Short answer: The Google I/O Version of the GT-7510 is supported by Google and not by Samsung. Samsung will not be updating it or posting an OTA update. If it will be updated, it will be directly from Google.
--
Longer answer: I spent about 3 hours on the phone with 6 Samsung techs on 16AUG2012 to get that answer. The group in charge of wifi tablets doesn't handle the Google I/O tablets, and they refer you to the cellular group. The cellular group then tells you that since the tab doesn't have a cell chip, it's not in their realm. In the end, Level 2 support on the cellular group had the answer above.
His recommendation was to "search the internet" for a custom rom and flash with that. He then reminded me that the tablet is out of warranty, so flashing isn't going to void anything. I agreed, but I can only imagine how many devices he's caused people to brick if he tells everybody that.
He also went on to say that Google is preparing their next flagship tablet and it won't be a Samsung device, it'll be an Acer device. When probed, he revealed it will be smaller than the 10.1" tab and it will be out sometime around holiday season 2012. I then told him the Nexus7 was already out and he was really confused.
If anyone else wants to try, the phone number for the cellular group is 1-877-652-4507. If they try to forward you to 1-800-SAM-SUNG, just ask for a manager or level 2.

What do you mean by stock? Vanilla android as in 3.0 and 3.1 as we originally had with these lovely I/O tabs, (so the last "Google supported" roms date from over a year ago now) or the later touchwiz offerings from Samsung not rooted etc? The I/O tab is a 7510 but with a nice exclusive back panel.
If you're still running3.1 you really are missing out on using the potential and power of this great device and can use any 7510 roms on it....
Mine is running 4.0.4 admittedly with touchwiz ( though Samsung have now 'toned it down' and it is far less cartoon-like) and it still remains one of the best performing and my most preferred tab (have zoom, transformer 101 and transformer prime ( complete cr*p).) It is rooted but of course you don't have to do that but even so gives no problems with films or dem that I have seen..
I downloaded latest Gt-p7510 ics rom from Samfirmware and flashed through Odin and it is now really flying and everything works tres bien
Screenshot attached showing movies works if that's what you mean by DRM etc...
I really can't recommend it strongly enough.... it's one of the earliest and best tabs which easily runs the latest iteration of android
Enjoy!!

Even tho the official Roms for this device have been close to untouched, there was some Samsung things in there stock. When I had to ship my io tab in I had to use a special number but it was still Samsung. All past updates have been thru Samsung not google. The guy I spoke to also told me the io tab was suppose to b updated to ics. But that was months ago and we see how that turned out. Just flash the one for the retail tabs and take precautions for ur bootloader. I flashed it and now I'm not locked anymore but I also don't have fastboot anymore (which I don't care about anyways.) All DRM stuff will work fine with the retail roms and touchwiz on ics isn't all that bad either

The Micro SD card slot isn't working properly; cards don't lock into place. Other forum members with the same issue got lucky with ASUS Support even after they unlocked the bootloader, but I didn't. I didn't know about my Micro SD slot being defective and because I did something with the software, ASUS refused to cover a hardware defect. So yeah, I'm pretty unhappy about that.

This "service courtesy" must have come from some Asus smart-ass with an MBA degree from the University of Phoenix. I don't mean to slight your effort Sad96, but did they promise you what they'd do with the data? I don't see that they will reach out and offer anybody a replacement or a fix (they're quite capable of but won't do for a hefty fee) where their own firmware OTA updates screwed up people's tabs (in my case), I've learned at a rather early age that the best way to appease the mass when you're not willing to accommodate is to tell it to voice its various complaints. You officially take them and then you unofficially shelve them, claiming it'd take time to "study" a solution.
That maneuver provides a safety valve by giving the semblance of an attentive ear when in fact nothing will go on. The proof is in the myriad of "petitions" and complaints sent in the past that never produced any positive result. Not a single one. it doesn't work but the mass is gullible enough to buy it every time. If you're in Lgrad and have lived long enough, you'd certainly remember this handy trick. The best approach is to tell them to take responsibility for their own boo-boos, or give us the tool to fix - NVFlash, or they won't ever see us again as customers. Heck, they don't have the monopoly of tabs. Far from it.
@graphdarnell I don't know what they will do, but we got more than 30 feedbacks, and everything was sent to technical support. They informed ASUS about all problems.

This is a highly underrated little tablet with Lollipop. Its so smooth and fast, I would say performance so far seems better than the time I spent with a Nexus 9.
I returned the shield tablet and bought this ASUS. It runs a lot better. I cannot believe that Google or ASUS isn't pushing this tablet harder.

Yep, thats true. They really should do much more advertising!
It is an absolutely amazing tablet for the price. It does seem to be faster on Lollipop than it was on 4.4.2. The only problem I seem to be having with the lollipop update is CrunchyRoll streams do not seem to play (the commercials do, but not the content itself)...
Installed it yesterday and not happy with performance. (and there is a bug that can break your auto rotate)
Is there a way to revert back to kitkat?
Think twice if you play music/video/internet radio through headphones.
You will lose bass through headphones regardless Audio Wizard off or on, or any mode.
However, A2DP supported bluetooth headset/headphones is not affected, and, fortunately, I have several bluetooth receivers for headphones, so I can use wireless method to retain the bass.
I have the ME572CL Japan model (JP sku firmware). There are TW and WW lollipop updates available to download from Asus, but no sign of a JP version. Anyone know if I can I flash mine with the WW version? I'm perfectly happy to lose the for Japan software (in fact that would be positively delightful), I just obviously don't want to stop the thing from working properly or brick it.
I upgraded my ME572C to Android 5.01 on April 7th and have found it to be glitchy.
Google newsstand articles close out without prompting, some issues with Asus gallery and google play store as well.
Google has announced its Nexus Set Top Player (Asus build with same Atom processor as the ME572C) will be getting the Android 5.1.1 upgrade to fix a bunch of lollipop bugs.
Can we expect the same for our Me572c soon?
Still no 5.0 upgrade for the JP sku. I wonder whether they have decided not to bother and to just wait for 5.1.1 to get rid of some of the many bugs and glitches. From some of the comments on this forum it seems that maybe us Japan users are better off having been left behind on KitKat...
I like lollipop, but it does have bugs. Mine locked up completely the other day.
Sent from my K007 using XDA Free mobile app
just updated to lollipop. mine is having issue with auto-rotate and i would sometimes reboot twice or more to fix it.
i was hoping that the on screen navigation buttons would change after the update but asus stayed with the old on screen buttons rather than the lollipop style on screen navigation buttons.
Looks like Asus pulled the Lollipop update for the ME572C from their site.
I checked both the U.S. and Taiwan support sites (www.asus.com/us/Tablets/ASUS_MeMO_Pad_7_ME572C/HelpDesk_Download/ and www.asus.com/tw/Tablets/ASUS_MeMO_Pad_7_ME572C/HelpDesk_Download/). The Lollipop 5.0.1 WW_V12.14.1.9 build that came out in early April 2015 is nowhere to be found.
I hope Asus is going back to fix reported issues and...hopefully...go straight to 5.1 or 5.1.1 with the next update soon.

Looks like Asus pulled the Lollipop update for the ME572C from their site.

Wow, it is gone... I've been happy with mine running lollipop at this point, but if it has been pulled they must have found something seriously wrong... The only thing I have had a problem with it is CrunchyRoll does not stream content (it does stream the advertisements!).
This update is far from perfect, some bugs disappeared, but there are new ones :
- sometimes, when watching videos with Youtube or Twitch for example, through headphones, an awful shrill sound comes out. Stopping the video has no effect, it looks like unplug/replug stop it.
- everytime the charger is plugged in, I lose the fade on the wallpaper.

Strange how they pulled the 5.0 firmware updates for the 572C but not the 572CL. Also strange that they released the updates for WW and TW, but not for JP.
They have now pulled the source code for the lollipop update, which was still there last I had checked...
The lollipop firmware for the ME572CL has now been pulled too.
The 5.0.1 Lollipop firmwares for C and CL tablets are back online. I updated via system update.
There are 2 problems I discovered. If you have multi-users on the tablet and if one of them has any security lock set up, you can't switch between the users.
The second problem is that face-unlock is missing.
And the biggest problem of them all is that we still can't uninstall or disable the bloatware. Stupid ASUS.
Thanks for posting. Updated and so far no force closes.
