Official 2.3 in- call volume low - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

This is my first post.
I would like to share my solve experience of stock 2.3 B522 in-call volume low.
Firstly, your X5 must root and with CWM. Under CWM, done the backup.
1. Install Terra8800 ROM v2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1556558
2. Ensure boot up no problem. Shut down X5 > go to pink screen > copy boot.img to computer.
3. Boot CWM and restore backup.
4. Finished the restore and boot up X5, ensure anything recovered.
5. Shut down X5 and go to pink screen again.
6. copy boot.img from computer to X5. (Terra8800 ROM boot.img)
7. Restart X5. You may see that everything no change.
8. Successful.
Based on my test. in-call volume at least increase 30% and no side effect.
Sorry that my bad english.....

Why not simply extract boot.img from terramino zip file and copy paste it to cust_backup? There is no need to do backups flash terraminos ROM, restore...

I'm inexperience on andriod .....
Actually, i want to test the terra ROM in-call volume good or not. So, i need to install first and check. After installed, I'm found that the terra ROM seems like on stock ROM, the GUI is same.
BTW, Your process is excellent. saved many procedules.

more fresh rom confusion

ok so i unrooted my phone to stock then used kitchen to auto root it and all worked great. then I put the recovery 1.5.3 i think it was on my root of sd card, and also had fresh 1.1 on it as update.zip
but everytime I apply it i get errors, now EVERYTHING works but I dont have service and settings force close.
should I wipe then install 1.1. or just upgrade from stock wen its rooted?
or maybe try 1.0 first with clean install or wipe?
thanks
If I were you, do this. RUU the phone to put it back to complete stock settings. Then, run the Auto-rooter in the Pre-Kitchen. This will put it to the latest recovery image. Then, just flash Fresh 1.1 to it, and then you'll be up to date.
you flash the recovery image dif then as if you were flashing a rom
wait so put recovery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2 on the root of card and change name to update and apply that, then delete that off root of card, put on fresh 1.1 rom and name it update then flash that?
can I do a clean install? or just update?
1. Find the recovery image you want and MAKE SURE IT IS FOR YOUR PHONE (should say in where you download it what phone it is for).
2. Write down the filename of the recovery image EXACTLY as it is written (i.e. RA-Hero-Recovery-v1.2.2.img).
3. Put the recovery image file on the SD card (not in any folders).
4. Download Terminal from the Market if you don’t already have it and install it (there are a few different terminals in the Market ,
5. Open the Terminal program and type the following (with hitting enter at the end of each line):
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/name-of-recovery.img
6. In the above text, replace name-of-recovery.img with the name of your recovery image (make sure the .img is on the end).
7. Phone should pause for a second and then show you a new blank line. Turn it off and back on by holding down Home and Power to ensure it flashed correctly. Done.

on another note you should change the title of this thread to user confusion has nothing to do with fresh rom ....might be confusing to some
As opposed to posting it in the FreshROM thread, had it really been a FreshROM issue.

I know that you know that the auto rooter does all of that for you.
No renaming RA to update.zip or anything like that. RUU to get your phone back to stock. Then run the auto-rooter. This gives you a stock but rooted phone, with RA as your recovery image. You will then be able to install fresh rom. That's all!

didnt want to confuse him anymore then he already is
ok did RUU and the kitchen and did auto rooter. running 1.5.2.
Just downloaded fresh 1.1
going to put it into the root of sdcard and rename the fresh rom to, "update"
then power down phone, power back on and ok should I wipe phone then apply update zip
or
not wipe and just apply zip?
then once I apply just then choose reboot and basically thats
You don't need to wipe. RUU puts your phone back to bone stock.
You shouldn't need to rename FreshROM to update either.
ohh, ok that was my biggest problem i think, im used to my g1 and i always renamed the rom to update.zip
so keep it fresh-cdma-hero-1.1
and apply update

Rooted (S-off) 2.2 - how to apply 2.3 update?

I've dug through every thread trying to find this answer, and I have no idea why nobody can answer it!
For the sake of clarity, here's what my About Phone screen says:
Andoid Version:
2.2
Kernel Version:
2.6.32.17-g9ab3677
htc-kernel[at symbol]and18-2 #1
Build Number:
1.22.531.8 CL277427 release-keys
Obviously the OTA fails when I try it (and the little notification keeps popping up every 15 minutes reminding me of the update). I have ClockworkMod and root, s-off. I want to somehow get 2.3. How should I go about doing it?
Flash VirtuosROM 2.0.0, its 2.3 stock with enhancements
Sent from my Desire Z
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211143
This one is completely stock pre-rooted 2.3.4 OTA. Flash in recovery. Wiipe data before flashing.
Doesn't replace radio or anything. this is just a ROM.zip
1. ok download the ROM of your choice
if you want vanilla android i recomend Cyanogen mod 7 latest nightly which is android gingerbread 2.3.5 with some tweaks (if you dont know what vanilla android search a video on youtube or search for pictures)
if you want sense i recomend virtous sense with is android gingerbread 2.3.3 with sense
2. create a folder named ROMs in your sd card and put the ROM zip in there
3. a.go to ROM manager and tap on reboot into recovery or...
b.turn off your phone hold the volume down key and press the power button, youll boot into the bootloader, from there select recovery, or...
c.turn off your device press the hold the camera button and press the power button, youll boot into recovery
4.once in recovery select reset factory settings, then wipe data cache partition, then go to advanced> wipe dalvik cache, then reset bettery stats
5.after that go to install zip from sd card find your ROMs folder select the zip and flash it!
6.reboot your device and enjoy
remember to make a backup before doing all of this so you can go back to your stock ROM at any time or if anything goes wrong! (you can make the backup thru rom manager or directly in recovery)
also backup your apps (mainly the ones u really use) with titanium backup which you can download free from the market
You do not want the OTA, or to flash any official updates. If you do, you will lose root. Flash the pre-rooted versions posted above, or a custom ROM.

[Q] - How Can I get MIUI on this Bravo

I have miui on HTC inspire. So i know how to get it on that phone, but my battery is dead so i'm waiting for a new battery. In the mean time, I'm using the bravo.
So how do I get it on there?
Here's what i done so far:
1) update to sbf 2.2.1, rooted superclickone
2)downloaded moto recovery bootstrap, that got me into cwm.
so i try to download a miui from this forum lnk, and when i update from the sd card, i restart and it stays on the motorol logo forever. however i try to update the file , i get to infinite logo. I must be doing it wrong.
There was a forum about nandroid backup, and I put the file in the clockworkmod/backup but it will not see the files. It's not as easy as the HTC inspire. So if anyone can help and give me a step by step instruction I would appreciated from getting being root to miui.
Hi
You need to extract the zip file into clockworkmod/backup folder
at the end you should have a new folder in backup and that folder should have various .img files and an md5 file
thanks it works!
I can do a restore with CM7. but what about getting miui? I tried to install from zip, but after reboot, it will just hang on the motorola logo. i assume you don't do a restore like CM7, cause there is no checksum in the miui zip file.
Just incase anyone was having as much trouble as I am trying to install MIUI.
I first try Bravo recovery but it just didn't work, only for cm7 for some reason. So i search a little more and tried defy recovery and all is good.
Anyone I'm post what I did for future me, if I need to go back to bravo for any reason.
find sbf 2.2.1 just incase
download bravo driver and rsd lite.
Root with superoneclick
download defy 2ndint from market
follow BravoMotorola instructions on any new MIUI defy update (download at miuiandriod.com
1) Open ROM in Winzip
2) Delete all the folders and files except for "system"
3) Download this mediafire.com/?jfgb5g3t8k2lkrb
4) Extract files "motorola" and "META-INF" to a known location
5) Move extracted "META-INF" to / (root) of the ROM
6) Delete folder "motorola in /system/ect
7) Move extracted "motorola" to /system/ect
Then follow RDANNAR instructions
1) DO NOT LEAVE RECOVERY MENU UNTIL YOU ARE COMPLETELY DONE WITH INSTALL
2) download and place on sdcard
3) reboot into recovery menu
4) format data in recovery
5) wipe Dalvik in advanced menu of recovery
6) wipe Cache in recovery
7) choose install zip and click to install ROM
8) reboot and give it some time for first boot
im a noob a lil confused after reading a lot of thread, so what are the steps to get miui on to bravo?

Huawei U8800 Aurora ROM Questions

Hi all!
This is my first post and I am new to rooting so I will not know as much advanced techniques/terms so please be patient.
I decided to root my phone to install a custom ROM (Thats what everyone wants, right?), more specifically to get a newer version of Android. I found the Aurora ROM by Dzo and I flashed 2.04 and it seems very fluid and fast. I didn't upgrade from the official 2.3 because I couldn't find the files. I'm really liking the ICS environment.
My first question is: How do I find/install a baseband? I want to use this as my daily ROM and I can't do much without signal.
Second, My battery indicator is not working and how do I fix this?
Thirdly, When I put the device to sleep for about 5 secs or more it will not wake up and reboots. Is this fixed with a later patch?
And lastly, What upgrade pattern should I use to get up to 5.0? (e.g. 2.04-2.5-2.6 etc or jump straight to a version and go from there)
Thanks in advance
First of All,you must install official gingerbread for install ICS.
Your problems (battery and baseband) are causing by old amss.bin (baseband) and old bootloader.
First, install official gingerbread with code name V100R001C00B518G001. If you install this version, you must not do root for install Aurora ICS.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?lws54xxb3lcm7di
If you install it,You must install CWM 5.0.2.8 or CWM 5.0.2.7 or CWM 6.0.2.8 or CWM 5.5.0.4 or TWRP Recovery. My prefence is install CWM 6.0.2.8
Here is 6.0.2.8;
http://code.google.com/p/forumber-projects-for-u8800/downloads/detail?name=recovery-clockwork-6.0.2.8-2.6.35.7-u8800.img&can=2&q=
1.Download the recovery
2.Remove SD Card and delete dload folder in phone's internal memory (if exists).
3.Power on the device while pushing volume up and down buttons.
4.If the pink screen appears, connect the phone to PC and wait for detect the phone
5.Rename downloaded img file to recovery.img and copy it to image folder in mass storage in Pink Screen
6. Download latest Aurora 5.0 and update 20 and copy those files to your sd card.
7. Power On the phone while pressing volume up button.
8. Backup the system to your sd card
9. Do "Wipe data/factory set"
10.Install Aurora 5.0,then install update 20
11.Reboot the system. And that's it! Enjoy the ICS
Just one question, Do I install gingerbread without the device rooted? and do I have to wipe my phone?

You can install offical gingerbread on rooted ROM. You don't need to wipe because the system will do wipe automaticly
No. You do not have to wipe. But you can if you want.
To install official gingerbread, you can install it over a rooted or a non rooted device. It doesn't matter because when you install gingerbread. The device will automatically be un rooted. You would have to root your device again after installing official gingerbread.
The easiest way to root gingerbread is to use SuperOneClick. Here is a tutorial for rooting your gingerbread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728
In the link above, just do the steps under 'Rooting the U8800 with SuperOneClick v2.3.3' and 'Installing ClockworkMod 5.5.0.4 on your U8800'.
I hope I helped. Good Luck and have fun rooting!
When I try to flash the Gingerbread ROM, It says Installation aborted. Why is this?
I am using CWM 5.5.0.4
That's not right...

You do not flash official firmware with CWM.
You must extract the file that you have downloaded.
After extracting it, keep going into the extracted files until you find a folder called 'dload'.
Copy this dload folder to the root of sdcard.
Now, power on your phone by pressing and holding down the power + volume up + volume down buttons all together.
The phone will automatically start installing the official android 2.3
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't understand anything then you are welcome to ask me about it. I will explain it to you.
Good Luck!

You don't need to pass boot animation. Do this;
1.Download the recovery
2.Remove SD Card and delete dload folder in phone's internal memory (if exists).
3.Power on the device while pushing volume up and down buttons.
4.If the pink screen appears, connect the phone to PC and wait for detect the phone

you have the pink screen? The best way to check is to remove the battery and the External SD card. Then plug in the power USB cable, press POWER and VOLUME DOWN button together. If the pink screen comes on then i think there is a chance.

you are not alone in this case. Even I have the same problem. I think the files from Huawei are corrupted. What I do is after installing the ORIGINAL ROM for the first time, at the FIRST BOOT, i use the program "Super One Click" to root the phone, and then install the apks so that i can quickly change the recovery.img to TCRW and then proceed to install the custom ROM of my choice.
I really suggest you go for Miui / Aurora (both are ICS) as the Jelly Bean custom ROMs are just way too buggy.

Haha, u are the Great , sir. I Have installing another rom, and then i got auto reboot, i click power off but i get reboot again (hahaha) , shutting down then rebooted again
I Think :
- The problem Internal SDCARD(EMMC) partition was bad, so the phone can't recognize what is the real internal sd card and the phone do a reboot
- And other files from image folder (like AMSS,EMCC, Or Cust or whatever) are not compatible with my base ( b526)
*i'm trying to install stock-partition.zip for re-partitioning my internal sd to the stock, but after i do flash zip files for many times are no effect was take
sir, i need a working stock partition zip file. have u partition/re-partitioning ur internal sd card sir ?>

best to go here. It has both the files you need. I would recommend Forumber's partition.zip.
Go to recovery
Flash forumber's partition.zip
reboot recovery
flash forumber's partition.zip again
reboot recoery
delete the cache, system, data
reboot recovery
install custom rom
reboot into custom ROM (first boot)
WIN!
