I have miui on HTC inspire. So i know how to get it on that phone, but my battery is dead so i'm waiting for a new battery. In the mean time, I'm using the bravo.
So how do I get it on there?
Here's what i done so far:
1) update to sbf 2.2.1, rooted superclickone
2)downloaded moto recovery bootstrap, that got me into cwm.
so i try to download a miui from this forum lnk, and when i update from the sd card, i restart and it stays on the motorol logo forever. however i try to update the file , i get to infinite logo. I must be doing it wrong.
There was a forum about nandroid backup, and I put the file in the clockworkmod/backup but it will not see the files. It's not as easy as the HTC inspire. So if anyone can help and give me a step by step instruction I would appreciated from getting being root to miui.
Hi
You need to extract the zip file into clockworkmod/backup folder
at the end you should have a new folder in backup and that folder should have various .img files and an md5 file
thanks it works!
I can do a restore with CM7. but what about getting miui? I tried to install from zip, but after reboot, it will just hang on the motorola logo. i assume you don't do a restore like CM7, cause there is no checksum in the miui zip file.
Just incase anyone was having as much trouble as I am trying to install MIUI.
I first try Bravo recovery but it just didn't work, only for cm7 for some reason. So i search a little more and tried defy recovery and all is good.
Anyone I'm post what I did for future me, if I need to go back to bravo for any reason.
find sbf 2.2.1 just incase
download bravo driver and rsd lite.
Root with superoneclick
download defy 2ndint from market
follow BravoMotorola instructions on any new MIUI defy update (download at miuiandriod.com
1) Open ROM in Winzip
2) Delete all the folders and files except for "system"
3) Download this mediafire.com/?jfgb5g3t8k2lkrb
4) Extract files "motorola" and "META-INF" to a known location
5) Move extracted "META-INF" to / (root) of the ROM
6) Delete folder "motorola in /system/ect
7) Move extracted "motorola" to /system/ect
Then follow RDANNAR instructions
1) DO NOT LEAVE RECOVERY MENU UNTIL YOU ARE COMPLETELY DONE WITH INSTALL
2) download and place on sdcard
3) reboot into recovery menu
4) format data in recovery
5) wipe Dalvik in advanced menu of recovery
6) wipe Cache in recovery
7) choose install zip and click to install ROM
8) reboot and give it some time for first boot
im a noob a lil confused after reading a lot of thread, so what are the steps to get miui on to bravo?

Hi guys,
Well when I flashed my ROM I used the NOOB thread and installed this version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821468
Now I realize I should have updated to this version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=891657
I have the update.zip and the new Axura zip on my root directory but when I reboot in recovery and click "re-install packages" it does something ...maybe re-roots?...and just goes to the normal Axura boot screen and starts up current installed version. I do have ROM manager and Titanium installed.
Obviously I'm missing something silly. Also, is there any real reason to update a month old ROM or am I ok leaving them on there for a long time?
Thank you...you guys rock!
Get into the green recovery screen. If you first load up recovery and it's blue then hit reinstall packages. You may have to do this twice for it to go to the green clockwork recovery.
Next navigate to install .zip from SD. Navigate to the new Axura file and select it. Navigate down to "yes" and wait for it to complete.
One pre-caution:
If you named the Axura ROM as update.zip and try to go into CWR it might throw you back to the normal recovery (blue text), if you hit re-install packages it will try to do it via update.zip (your Axura), and you will end-up with the square one.
Go to your phone, rename the Axura download from update.zip to something different, i.e. axura_rom_latest.zip, copy recovery-update.zip from /sdcard/clockworkmod directory to /sdcard as update.zip, and go back into recovery and re-install packages, it will bring you to CWR with green text.

Nice catch and clarification.
Lordjish - Let us know how it goes.
I'm confused I have the new Axura ROM zip file on my phone but it's not named update.zip - the rooting zip is named that. The Axura ROM is named whatever the developer named it still.
1. Do I Need to change the name of the ROM then?
2, Should I remove the rooting "update.zip" I downloaded from the NOOB thread?
If so, should I just have the new ROM in there by itself?
Also my Root seems to be corrupted as Titanium cannot gain root rights anymore and Superuser Permissions won't run. This is surely my fault from my failed attempt and installing the new update.
I've re-named the clorkworkmod recovery zip to update.zip as you said, as well as renamed the new Axura ROM zip to "axura-update.zip" . I also moved the clockworkmod zip to the root directory on SD.
I haven't tried anything yet as I want to make sure this is what I'm suppose to do with a possibly broken "root" (superuser permissions aren't working for Titanium or ROM manager)
Also, strangely enough my computer wouldn't let me move filesthrough USB Mass storage mode that are already on the phone, but I could do it by using the phone itself to move the files.
Oh, and I deleted the NOOB thread rooting zip before moving the clockworkmod one and re-naming it the same.
Thanks again guys!
Reboot into stock recovery, reinstall packages, cwr should be available then (green txt). Install zip from sd, choose axura zip and you should be fine.
Sent from my Nero powered Vibrant
On the 16g internal memory you should now have two files - Update.zip and Axura.zip right?
If so boot into recovery and hit reinstall packages until you get to the green recovery. This sometimes takes two times.
Then navigate to install zip from SD and find Axura and let it do it's thing.
Thank you all for your help!
Updated new the newest Axura ROM and everything went without any problems.
This is addicting...
Have you heard of Gardner? I graduated high school there. Good to see a nice Kansas man in the forum. I pm you

Flash in Xrecovery, but use option: Install custom zip
okk...thanks for the help..
It is simple...
Download all the filles you need.
Xrecovery install files on your phone.
It install from default the update.zip on yours card root, but it has an option for custum files (it let you browse your card to chooze zip file)
So you have to install rom and then fixes...
Put all files on your card root (if rom zip and fixes zip have the same name, rename the fixes zip)
Ok, boot in xrecovery (restart phone and tap back key untill xrecovery come up, befor sony animation) , buck up first everything. (it has a buck up option, browse there and click buck up, navigate with volume keys, enter with home key, go back with back key)
Then click install update zip or install custum zip(...browse to file) , this will install the rom file.
After that reboot phone and if you manage to get on the rom then installation would be sussesful, it take some time to boot the first time. If your phone only reboot continius then boot on xrecovery and restore your back up.
Then if rom installed sussesfull, boot on xrecovery and install fixes (from costum zip or from update zip), reboot your phone and again if you manage to get on rom install was sussesful or if your phone reboot continius then restore buck up from xrecovery.
I am not responcible for what ever you do on your phone.
From this prosess your hardware sould not be harmed, so phone can be fixed what ever hapends.
Cool down and make your options, the worst case senario: you lose some data and make an update to your phone from pc suite.

htc product legend
with the clock and the dock.
Welcome to XDA mate.
You have to know some basic stuff before flashing any ROM.
1. ClockworkMod recovery and how it works.
2. Find a ROM that you like and download it.
3. Follow the instructions written on that ROM for flashing via ClockworkMod recovery and you are done.
If you are looking for stock HTC look, you must download a Sense ROM (CyanogenMod is an AOSP ROM) and there are many of them. I would suggest reading from this post, it helped me a lot when I was new to the android scene.
If you have any questions please post here and I am sure people would be happy to help.
Remember... Search function is your friend here in XDA.
Cheers
Oh, yhea - what link you gave me there, thanks.
Could you please guide me throw my first mod. I have desited it should be this one

Kernel - LeeDrOiD V3.2.1 - 2.6.35.13 Revised - BFS
You problably know the first time, you do this it a good ide to have some back up from anotherone who have try it before...
1.Download all files mentioned below and copy them to the root of your SD card
a. Wipe file
b. Rom File
2. Boot to ClockworkMod recovery
3. Backup your current Rom to your SD
4. Flash the Wipe file (Install Zip file from SD card option)
5. Flash the Rom file (Install Zip file from SD card option)
6. Eat a donut! (aka wait for 10-15mins)
7. You should be done.
If things go wrong, you can always restart in ClockworkMod recovery and restore your previous Rom.
Cheers
I made a nandroid with ROM Manager, and now when I need to restore it, CWM says MD5 mismatch. What did I do wrong?

Hmmm did you attempt to move or edit the nandroid backup? As far as I can tell, if you have nothing to boot too, then your best bet would be the same as instructions below, to boot recovery, mount sd, put new rom on there super wipe, and flash new rom
Thanks button always appreciated!

Ohh, how easy it was. Tanks a lot. That was great you could simplyfied it to that level.
I think it went wrong because I did it with ROM manager. Recovery, it all went right.

Md5 mismatch means that image is likely to be corrupt.
Google and download the md5 checker s/w. Check the md5 hash with the one posted on the forum/website where you are downloading the image.
If needed redownload the image and check the md5 hash again.
Once the md5 hashes match you may proceed flashing the image on to the phone.
Hi all!
This is my first post and I am new to rooting so I will not know as much advanced techniques/terms so please be patient.
I decided to root my phone to install a custom ROM (Thats what everyone wants, right?), more specifically to get a newer version of Android. I found the Aurora ROM by Dzo and I flashed 2.04 and it seems very fluid and fast. I didn't upgrade from the official 2.3 because I couldn't find the files. I'm really liking the ICS environment.
My first question is: How do I find/install a baseband? I want to use this as my daily ROM and I can't do much without signal.
Second, My battery indicator is not working and how do I fix this?
Thirdly, When I put the device to sleep for about 5 secs or more it will not wake up and reboots. Is this fixed with a later patch?
And lastly, What upgrade pattern should I use to get up to 5.0? (e.g. 2.04-2.5-2.6 etc or jump straight to a version and go from there)
Thanks in advance
First of All,you must install official gingerbread for install ICS.
Your problems (battery and baseband) are causing by old amss.bin (baseband) and old bootloader.
First, install official gingerbread with code name V100R001C00B518G001. If you install this version, you must not do root for install Aurora ICS.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?lws54xxb3lcm7di
If you install it,You must install CWM 5.0.2.8 or CWM 5.0.2.7 or CWM 6.0.2.8 or CWM 5.5.0.4 or TWRP Recovery. My prefence is install CWM 6.0.2.8
Here is 6.0.2.8;
http://code.google.com/p/forumber-projects-for-u8800/downloads/detail?name=recovery-clockwork-6.0.2.8-2.6.35.7-u8800.img&can=2&q=
1.Download the recovery
2.Remove SD Card and delete dload folder in phone's internal memory (if exists).
3.Power on the device while pushing volume up and down buttons.
4.If the pink screen appears, connect the phone to PC and wait for detect the phone
5.Rename downloaded img file to recovery.img and copy it to image folder in mass storage in Pink Screen
6. Download latest Aurora 5.0 and update 20 and copy those files to your sd card.
7. Power On the phone while pressing volume up button.
8. Backup the system to your sd card
9. Do "Wipe data/factory set"
10.Install Aurora 5.0,then install update 20
11.Reboot the system. And that's it! Enjoy the ICS
Just one question, Do I install gingerbread without the device rooted? and do I have to wipe my phone?

You can install offical gingerbread on rooted ROM. You don't need to wipe because the system will do wipe automaticly
No. You do not have to wipe. But you can if you want.
To install official gingerbread, you can install it over a rooted or a non rooted device. It doesn't matter because when you install gingerbread. The device will automatically be un rooted. You would have to root your device again after installing official gingerbread.
The easiest way to root gingerbread is to use SuperOneClick. Here is a tutorial for rooting your gingerbread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728
In the link above, just do the steps under 'Rooting the U8800 with SuperOneClick v2.3.3' and 'Installing ClockworkMod 5.5.0.4 on your U8800'.
I hope I helped. Good Luck and have fun rooting!
When I try to flash the Gingerbread ROM, It says Installation aborted. Why is this?
I am using CWM 5.5.0.4
That's not right...

You do not flash official firmware with CWM.
You must extract the file that you have downloaded.
After extracting it, keep going into the extracted files until you find a folder called 'dload'.
Copy this dload folder to the root of sdcard.
Now, power on your phone by pressing and holding down the power + volume up + volume down buttons all together.
The phone will automatically start installing the official android 2.3

If you don't understand anything then you are welcome to ask me about it. I will explain it to you.
Good Luck!

You don't need to pass boot animation. Do this;
1.Download the recovery
2.Remove SD Card and delete dload folder in phone's internal memory (if exists).
3.Power on the device while pushing volume up and down buttons.
4.If the pink screen appears, connect the phone to PC and wait for detect the phone

Good Job. I hope you don't run into any kind of problem
Hi. I'm using the 18/Redmi2Prime and I was thinking of reverting back to MIUI and I'm on CM13. I'm kind of confused with all the threads here because it's been a while since I was active here in the forums. Can't I just flash the MIUI ROM over CM13 using TWRP 2.8.7 with a clean install?
I wanted a rooted lollipop miui hence I am reluctant of choosing this. And I donno which ROM to choose either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Grab a copy of the stock recovery from here, and follow the instructions to install it onto your device. Basically, download the file, extract the .img file from it, and install the .img file using TWRP. Then boot to recovery.
Then, download a copy of the official MIUI ROM (beta, release or otherwise), from here, rename it as update.zip, copy paste it to your SD card (internal/external), and from the stock recovery, wipe all existing data (cache and user data - SD card can stay). Install the update.zip from the recovery from the options shown.
Done.
Additional notes -
1. If you are plan to go back to a custom ROM, then install a pre-lollipop based MIUI ROM, or backup your EFS, Modem, Boot partitions prior to wiping the existing recovery - this will save you a lot of trouble, and perhaps opening another thread.
2. It is preferable to download the MIUI ROM and rename it as update.zip before you restore to stock recovery, should anything go wrong down the lane. (That is, without a ROM installed, and the computer just not willing to recognize your device, you might end up in a small soup - you cannot access the files on the phone using the stock recovery easily.)
3. If anything goes wrong, check for instructions on how to install the MIUI ROM using fastboot.
Hey thanks for the quick reply. Will do the mentioned and will get back to you if need be. Thanks again!
But wait. It isn't prerooted right?
