I wanted to root my sons phone
SGY GT-S5360L, 2.3.5, S5360LUHKI1, Kernel 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #1, GINGERBREAD.UMKJ2
Unfortunately i cannot enter recovery or download mode with the 3 buttons combo, so i dont know how to flash a custom kernel to get rooting. Anybody could help? How can i get access to recovery and download?

sure thing, just flash this in stock recovery no need for CWM, it works and gets your phone rooted

Sorry how do i get to stock recovery? Volume up, power and home gives nothing.
Also volume down, power and home does not enter download mode.
is that a custom kernel?where did he get that?tell me...is it work?
btw, youre a senior member. please don't be a bad example for newer member here. please put your answer in faq section next time. to root your sons device, you may use super one click from shortfuse if you can't get into recovery nor odin mode.

LOL, it works, it was actually the first file i ever flashed on my Y, gets nonrooted phone rooted right away without any need for a CWM

no...what i mean is the kernel in his son's phone. i've used the same method to root my phone too. (lol)
@clauss: tell me...where did your son got that kernel. we're developing a new kernel for SGY at this moment. that kernel could be helpfull for us.

Thanks a lot that did root my phone, now i can use Titanium backup to restore some apps and databases. I know i should not ask that here, but how could i gain access to stock recovery or download mode to flash a custom rom?

Duh...now i feel dumb... i was doing it like on my SGS i9000 where i just restart with the 3 buttons pressed. Now i turned the phone off and it works, both recovery and download. Really many thanks to you and all who answered.

I have the same model and kernel, and would like to root it.
i have a peculiar problem.. my galaxy young turns off every time after showing the galaxy y logo.. i can't enter into recovery mode by 3 key combo. but i can enter into download mode but the phone turns off after few seconds.. can't flash via odin.... i have tried the ''without battery method'' mentioned in a thread but same thing happens..
another peculiar thing is that ,, after inserting the battery the phone automatically starts but shutdown after few seconds showing 'galaxy y '' logo..
please help me...

cannot go into download mode ..
just black lcd now..and i test with power supply the metter it show 0.2 to 0.4
Here's a hot tip...
If your thread has "help" in the title, it almost certainly doesn't belong in development.
If your download mode is inaccessible, you may need a jig. Lots of info around here.
Why were you flashing without testing your three button download/recovery first?
First of all charge ur sgs. Then go to 3 button combo(volume down+home button+power) download mode. Then using Odin flash Darkyy 9.2 resecure resecure edition. Hope this will clear ur problem.

this phone is program chinese version but my patner wrong putting galaxy tap flash file ..now ii just hope someone can help me ...pls

People have made numerous suggestions. Try to get into DOWNLOAD MODE (not recovery) by removing the battery, replacing it, and pressing VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER and holding them.
If that really doesn't work after you have tried multiple times, you will need to order a Jig from Ebay.
Beyond that, the only solution for the future is STOP YOURSELF FROM DOING STUPID THINGS TO YOUR PHONE BY TAKING CARE AND LEARNING AS MUCH AS YOU CAN BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING WHATSOEVER!

yup tottally right when u don kno stuff there r 100s of topic,,and every rom here has in bold caution---download and recovery check...
anywayz **** happens try the download mode use the jig or search the youtube on how to make one or the last u can send it to sammy center...

What rom do you have and why does it say go to cwm? You can always use odin to flash a stock rom. Volume down, power and home.

If it goes to download mode(vol down+home+power), it is not bricked.
No problem even recovery not starts
Go to download mode n flash stock ROM using PC Odin.
Iam not helping these posts anymore. No respons, nothing.
Probably coz he hasnt got a clue what hes talking about in the first place, the note would not tell you you have cwm and goto recovery mod when you turn it on.
KETAN has so many great guides on here thats so simplified even the average phone user can get the hang of it, THANKS KETAN, you rock, and with all the great devs in such a great community where people help you, and still someone posts a message that makes no sense at all because he failed to read the guides in the first place.

the picture wont help on what phone model that is...refer to your phone ,remove back cover and check..or check the box...
assuming thats a galaxy s I9000 , go into download mode(you are safe as long as you can get into download mode), flash stock ROM via ODIN or Heimdall....
my model is gt-I9000

actually he wrote he can get into DL mode, but not recovery....but yes its also strange why he gets that ! when going into recovery...
when you power on by holding volume down+home button+Power button..do you get download mode? the big triangle with the android digging? if yes the you are safe...
to answer your questions: refer to here for guided HOW TO's to flash via odin / heimdall, it also includes guides to get out of that phone-!-computer...

i did flash of stock rom into the phone so i have a new recovery that work but the rom is not work and when i do in the recovery mount usb storage i don't see anything in the pc from the phone..
what to do now?

My sister has Samsung galaxy Y S5360. Its been a year since purchase of the phone. So no warranty now.
My problem is, yesterday the phone suddenly got into bootloops in the middle of use. Now it turns on only till Galaxy Y logo and restarts again. I tried going into recovery and doing a data reset but the phone is restarting even in recovery mode before i can select the option to do a data reset.
I tried flashing stock ROM via odin but even in the downloading mode phone won't keep on for more than 5 seconds and keeps restarting.
Any solutions to this problem. I know flashing and other pro stuff about android. So if anything can help even a tough method, i can try that. Plz help!!!!

Yeah.. i tried plugging it to PC in downloading mode.. the phone should start in downloading mode without a battery but still after 2-3 seconds it restarts again

Hmmmm if u had not rooted then just take it to service centre they will repair it for free.....

Once it happend to me but nothing went wrong,i switched it of went to recovery mode and flashed to a new rom.You can go to recovery mode,try again but you cant go to download mode at that time it happened to me also.

Bhai the phone is out of warranty.. I will have to pay money for repairing it.. Thats the last option i would go for... just trying it here if any1 can help with the problem.. OR service center is there...

My phone goes into download mode also but in both download and recovery mode phone restarts after less than 5 seconds... i couldn't even select option to do a data reset.. before i could select the option to do a data reset the phone restarts again...
Try downlod mode by taking of the battery and it must be connected to the pc..and have you charged the baterry

Try and go to recovery mode by pressing volume down + home + power button see if it resarts.. If no then try flashing stock rom. Do this after connecting charger

Dude i have also same problem, i go to service center then they told me it's right hand side on/off button problem

Flash a custom or another kernel..

For flashing kernel i need to get into bootloader mode atleast... but phone won't keep on for more than 3 seconds.... And my phone is not rooted

Hey guys I just got another one of these damn G2s
Anyway, got root fine on 12b and had issues trying to push the twrp recovery image to it, it kept failing for some reason. So I tried the Flashify option... and as you can tell by the thread title it worked excellently. And by excellently I mean I'm bricked.
I can get into download mode. But it won't boot past the LG logo. All I get is a black screen. Can someone help me revert to stock and get twrp installed?

Also I'm a little illiterate on Android so take is slow and dumb it down- I don't develop and I don't code, I just enjoy other people's work as a casual user.

Try holding volume down + power
Immediately when LG appears let go of both and ONLY hold onto power, should boot into option to factory reset
Hit power button 3 times to continue.
Tried that. It processes the reset and then immediately tries to reboot, and bootloops again.

That was what I was thinking but I don't know how through download mode. I feel helpless without being able to flash things :crying:

WHen your g2 is powered off just hold volumeup and connect to a PC. If it doesn't go past the blue dots then you can't enter download mode either.

The white screen where you can hard reset the phone? Yes.. I can get into it, but accepting the reset simply puts the phone back into a boot cycle.
