FM Module - Xperia Play General

http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/...leased-as-open-source-and-sensor-hal-updated/
I am sure most of the developers are interested in this module and hopefully it will work on xperia play...
I am sorry if I didn't post in the right section but this is a MUST SEE for developers...

we already know that, but that isn't for the bcm4329 chip

has been merged into CM sources I think

Difference is, this is not promoting piracy at all, maybe removing otherOS was harsh, but after all, you press the update button.

So will there ever be FM for the R800x? I heard that FM was disabled at the hardware level. Does this mean that it's impossible, or improbable that we will get FM? I have no idea how things work, but it almost sounds to me like there's a "switch" of some sort that has turned off the FM... Like I said though, I'm not knowledgeable at all xD

FM uses bcm chip, which is also used by WiFi. It is possible to enable.
Sent from my Xperia Play using Tapatalk

from my findings the fm chip is not conected to any antena
even if we enable fm on this device it cant get any station
so is useless
FM will be enabled on Xperia S

So does my brother's Droid X, everything completely stock and non-rooted. There's gotta be a tick in the sources somewhere, and hopefully get an FM tuner app to work with that module mentioned.

My wildfire which I use as an iPod touch alternative uses headphones to access the FM radio, I'm sure that uses the BCM something chipset but I cant remember what chipset exactly

anyway not with ti fm radio
and maybe with advanced soldering skills

[req]n 1 torch w video

is it possible that one of the devs can code a way to keep n1 torch on while recording video or if its a problem with the app going into the background...can a dev work the coding from the torch into a custom setting inside the video settings...just some very wishful thinking.. hoping to spark some creativity... where there's a will there's a way

Have you tried using torch with video. It was one of the first things I tried after installing n1 torch. Works fine, use the widget, turn it on, then open camera & record away.

Yes, I can attest to this, the Torch wont work when the camera is on when you're running the Desire ROM. It does work fine with N1 ROMs though. Maybe you should post a request on MODACOs thread brother, that might help.

FM RADIO for test

http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=573786&d=1303338647
/system/apps but you need to push it true adb or place it with root explorer I think. And u need root access
FM Radio starts and then force close
for me too, I need to work in logs lol
Force closes on startup.
Any suggestions?

Both the At&T and Bell atrix user manual specifies that "you need to have headphones plugged in for the optional FM radio to work". The headpone cable is your antena.
The Orange UK Atrix is also "FM Radio with RDS" capable, according to the press release.
Now Motorola, why the hell can't I listen to radio on my Atrix, hum ??? This is very uncool of you moto, very uncool.

If you have 2.3.3 or better you can use the "Media Server" app to wirelessley stream any media files your phone has to your TV. But this is not a TV out, you cannot view what you're doing on the phone on your TV.

No you can't. The LiveDock is incompatible with the Xperia Play and it only has a standard USB out jack and the DK300 has only an audio out jack. No connection to the TV screen whatsoever.
Guys the firmware on the play is multi device. Arc, neo, arc s and mini pro all get the same firmware but with diffrent kernels and basebands. This folder will be for one of the other devices.

Plus.. the "Video-out" could be basically anything. It could be some files regarding when you saving your edited videos or something strange like that Don't get your hopes up, that's just what i'm trying to say
but on the other hand, on the CES2011, they showed some games on a big screen live from the Xp.. but i THINK that's a lets say "developers version" of the play with mini hdmi out, i could be wrong. Or they had some kind of software code that could send video signals to a TV via an USB cable..

[KERNEL][ICS-CM9 or JVU] USB Host mode (OTG) driver for SGS i9000 [BUILD 4]
This thread is a good read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450298
So far its available for the i9000, Captivate, and the Nexus S.
He says this is what he needs to possibly port it to other devices -
The kernel source is avialable on github. It is either a kernel for gingerbread (>=2.6.35) or for ICS (>=3.0)
It also contains (or has links to) the initramfs and all the other files needed to create an update.
If creating the update is not straightforward I also need a script to do this for me
After the update is made I need someone with the device to test it for me. If the feedback is positive I'll build versions for that device too, whenever something is changed.
Discuss.

Nope, it just means that they've ported USB host(OTG) to other Galaxy S variants by use of a Linux 3.x.x kernel. Not the same as a 2.6.35.7 kernel, it won't just magically work for us, it'd have to be adapted. To except Epic specific things.

I think the hopes for some ICS action are so strong, and many of us don't understand what goes into porting and creating custom work. Let's be happy with what we have with the epic. I hear cm9 is coming along nicely, so what the hell more should we expect? Dual core LTE's are on the way, so enjoy cm9 when it gets here cause I remember when all of us were wondering if we'd even see gingerbread.

There is also a build for stock JVU (Gingerbread). It is possible to port this to older ROMs too (like CM7, or pre-GB ROMs). Ask your favourite kernel developer to do this for you. I only plan to support the CM9 and the stock Gingerbread version.

Wifi direct in ICS

My understanding was that wifi direct was supported by ICS. However, having updated my transformer there is no sign of it. I was hoping to use it for communicating with my Galaxy s2. Anyone know what happened to it?
note this isn't a moan as such, as overall I'm very happy with the update, its just a function I was expecting and hoping to make use of is missing and I wondered if anyone knew why?
