Wifi direct in ICS - Eee Pad Transformer General

My understanding was that wifi direct was supported by ICS. However, having updated my transformer there is no sign of it. I was hoping to use it for communicating with my Galaxy s2. Anyone know what happened to it?
note this isn't a moan as such, as overall I'm very happy with the update, its just a function I was expecting and hoping to make use of is missing and I wondered if anyone knew why?

I thought wifindirect had to be supported even on a hw level

Yea you need a device that supports it and the Galaxy Nexus was the first certified device.

My Xperia Arc A with ICS beta has wifi direct.

The galaxy s2 supports wifi direct out of the box and that is older than the nexus.
Having said that I didn't realise there was a hardware side to it.

Did the xperia support wifi direct under gingerbread though? This would support the view that there is a hardware requirement.

No, but I read only certain Wifi chipsets are Wifi direct capable The Xperia one is on that list.

Where is TouchWiz for our wifi units???

Did samsung release touchwiz yet? Im mean whats the hold up?
and before anyone says anything, no, I dont want to install the buggy hacked touchwiz some people have rigged together in a few threads here. I want the official TouchWiz install.
Maybe they will first release with the 3g model and give the stupid carriers something to brag about.

lolz, if you dont want the "buggy hacked touchwizz some people have rigged together" why dont you just send a mail to Samsung directly ?!
ahahahaha unbelievable...
PS: wrong forum !
So are you telling me samsung is asking to touch our wiz before we can get the update? Grows!
Now that's something Samsung needs to deliver at least with the wi-fi version. There's no carrier restriction on it (eg. xoom wi-fi got the HC 3.2 and 3G version is waiting on carrier approval). Just bragging about the thinnest and lightest tablet wont help them getting love from the regular user. I hope Samsung doesn't screw on this one.
I love how before the Tab was released everyone was saying "no touchwiz!", and now everyone is saying "where's my touchwiz!?"

[KERNEL][ICS-CM9 or JVU] USB Host mode (OTG) driver for SGS i9000 [BUILD 4]
This thread is a good read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450298
So far its available for the i9000, Captivate, and the Nexus S.
He says this is what he needs to possibly port it to other devices -
The kernel source is avialable on github. It is either a kernel for gingerbread (>=2.6.35) or for ICS (>=3.0)
It also contains (or has links to) the initramfs and all the other files needed to create an update.
If creating the update is not straightforward I also need a script to do this for me
After the update is made I need someone with the device to test it for me. If the feedback is positive I'll build versions for that device too, whenever something is changed.
Discuss.

Nope, it just means that they've ported USB host(OTG) to other Galaxy S variants by use of a Linux 3.x.x kernel. Not the same as a 2.6.35.7 kernel, it won't just magically work for us, it'd have to be adapted. To except Epic specific things.

I think the hopes for some ICS action are so strong, and many of us don't understand what goes into porting and creating custom work. Let's be happy with what we have with the epic. I hear cm9 is coming along nicely, so what the hell more should we expect? Dual core LTE's are on the way, so enjoy cm9 when it gets here cause I remember when all of us were wondering if we'd even see gingerbread.

There is also a build for stock JVU (Gingerbread). It is possible to port this to older ROMs too (like CM7, or pre-GB ROMs). Ask your favourite kernel developer to do this for you. I only plan to support the CM9 and the stock Gingerbread version.

I've been using it since yesterday on the CM9 KANG in my P7500. Have to say I'm VERY impressed. Seems faster and more "desktop-ish" than the stock browser. It surely deserves a try!
working fine for me but.....
After fooling around I can't find any way to set the user agent to desktop. Is there a way, a tweak for that yet? That's quite annoying
Its ICS Only!
Well, if anyone here is not using any of the Kang CM9 ports on their GT10.1, then you don't know what you're missing. No reason for anyone to be stuck on 3.2.

Yes, everyone is fixated on huge screens and fail to recognize the flaws of touch screen keyboards. You can only type so fast on a touch screen before you slip up. People wonder how I reply so fast to their texts. I just hold up my phone, slide out the keyboard, and take a bow.

hdmi for cm10 is my dream, I'm tired of using all these terrible and slow stock roms
stock roms are really terrible :crying:

I don't see anything happening about HDMI over that link, its all about audio thing.
The only reason i use stock rom is the camera because i like taking picture randomly everywhere otherwise there is no point using the lame stock roms.
Yeah, we have KITKAT
