Moving SD from one Surround to Another - Surround General

I dropped my phone pretty bad...although the screen didn't shatter.....the LCD won't light. It powers on, digitizer works so I can touch and unlock it, sounds work....but no screen.
So, I am ordering a new Surround. If I take the SD from the first and stick it in the second, will everything boot back to where it was on the old or will it screw everything up and I am better off re-installing ALL of that crap back onto the new phone? (just a thought).

Ya, I was afraid of that. Thanks!

My XV6800 fell in water on Christmas

Getting out of an SUV (my XV6800 was in my pocket) it somehow popped out and feel in water (huge stream in street it was raining and snow was melting). I immediately dried it off. Pulled out the battery and put it in rice. Today I get all these weird leds. It seems like the screen is broken since I heard stuff going on. I tried to do a hard reset with two software keys and the soft reset.
To my surprise I got the screen back on. But now I am in a Restore waiting for complete screen. When its does I hit space to boot. But it just goes through the restore completed screen.
Is there anything else I can do? Thanks in advance.
I had the same thing happen. Baby dropped mine in the toilet. Be sure to check the screws on back. For some reason that loosened mine up and my touchscreen wouldnt work....good luck
Thanks.
Is there someway I can flash it to MR1 via an SD card? Someway I can avoic this restore screen?
edit: Ok I fixed it. At least I can use it again but most all physical keys are dead. Great...
I have an XV6800 that you may want...
I have an XV6800 that has a bad ESN. It reads zereos for the esn. I could sell it to you and then you could either use it for parts, or reprogram your ESN to this device. I know it is possible to do ( I have messed around with it some on this device just to see if it works). PM me if you are interested.

[Q] tmobile g1, phone has white screen, buttons don't light up

The phone was working fine but my son said the touch screen was working off and on. Now it doesn't come on at all. I am trying to find out if the phone needs a new lcd screen or maybe it's just a cable causing the phone not to work. We tried the reset, took out battery/sim card and still nothing happens on the phone. The screen is still a grayish white. It seems to be charging. When we put the battery back in it vibrates like it wants to turn on. Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
Still bad
Hi, hope you fixed the phone, sounds like a bad flex, you can get a new one from eBay (about 16Dlls).
Changing the flex isn't that difficult but you must be VERY CAREFUL or you can damage some phone internals, there is a service manual but i think you cant watch some disassembly videos on youtube, they're better.

A500 seems bricked but not bricked (I think)

Hi, I cracked my outer screen on my A500 and just got a replacement. The tablet worked fine though. The touch screen still allowed selection of anything on the entire screen even though it had lots of cracks on it. The LCD screen wasn't damaged at all.
Followed the videos to replace the screen that are posted to the letter, slowly and methodically. So I separated the outer screen from the display OK (it was a bit of a challenge since the double sided tape was holding pretty good).
Everything went together OK. I go to start it and the screen glows as it normally does as the very first part of the power-on. But nothing else. No logo, no messages - nothing.
But I plugged it into my PC via micro USB on a whim and lo and behold, I can actually see the internal storage and SD card. Looks like everything is there. And if I do the long press where I recall some of the icons are, I can feel the slight vibration as it selects the icon. So it would also appear that the touch screen is functioning too.
So it looks like the unit boots but for some reason, won't display. The screen just glows faintly like the very first part of a power-on.
Is there hope? Is there something I can do or check? Is there a way to verify the LCD without buying a new one?
Thanks,
Bob

Well Bob, glad to see some folks take matters into their own hands!
I can't find the post, as it was a couple years or so ago. But I specifically remember a similar situation. And from what I know, when you tighten/place the screens together, you have to make sure you tighten them evenly, or else nothing works. Something to that effect. Also, I would probably take it apart again, and double check that everything is connected the proper way. Look for possible bent pins and such.
As far as I know, there are no software maintenance apps to check the lcd. Not to my knowledge anyhow, As we pretty much have all maintenance software for the 500/501.
Wish I could be of more help. I know awhile back, a couple of folks here in the forum replaced theirs after their kids stepped on them.

[Q] Broken Screen on my Nexus 4

Hello,
I dropped my Nexus 4 (EG960) couple of months ago, ordered a new LCD + Digitizer and started to replace the screen myself.
Everything went just smoothly, I removed the broken screen, put the new one, put everything back together, slowly and safely connected all components, turned on the phone and.................
Guess what? The phone is turning on, but I can only see stripes of different colors all over the screen. I can see that the Google animation is working in the background and that the phone successfully booted. I can actually still see a line where the previous crack was.
I tried reassembling and reassembling everything slowly but still see the issue.
I can attach a picture if needed.
Am I missing anything?????
Thanks,
Liran.

Well it's great and all that you took apart and put back together but I'm not a big fan of repairing screens, digi, etc I think no matter who fixes it will never be the same as before if you could I would try to sell it and just get another one.. Or take it to a professional and try to get a warranty with repair.. Just a thought..
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
And still I did, and wonder what to do next. If to try and replace other components or just give up.
Option 1 is more suited to me.
Thanks a lot
Same thing
Does anyone know a solution to this problem? I replace the screen, the same problem.

We can just guess.. Maybe you damaged a flex cable or a connector/plug. If the problem persists with a second screen then I think its something on the mainboard as suggested..
maybe this helps?

or the screen you bought was fake crap

Replaced cracked screen, now bootlogo and bootloader are black

So I've cracked my Moto G4 Play glass, and I had to buy a new screen. After I lift up the back cover, I disconnect the old screen and put the new one in order to test it I thought it wasn't working since it didn't light up, but right after a few seconds my bootanimation (not bootlogo) showed up and the phone booted just fine. Quality was OK, touchscreen worked great and the gosthing was minimal, so I've ended up installing it.
But before I put all the screws again, I've tried out the original screen and both bootlogo and bootloader were working normally.
I really don't care since I'll be selling this device as it looks brand new, not a single scratch on it's body, but it's really strange that a screen replacement would cause such problem. Does anyone have a clue?
Hello friend, do you speak Spanish?
