ICS and Amazon market - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I have put AOKP_p4wifi_milestone-4 on my 10.1 Galaxy Tab and everything is working except for the camera as expected. As part of getting my apps back i need the Amazon market app but after I install it I cannot log in to the market. I verified that the id and password is correct and I was wondering if this is a known problem?
I keep getting an error saying 'There was a temporary error signing you in. Please try again in a few moments'. Has anyone else seen this?

never seen that. I've been on ICS for over 2 weeks and use amazon store daily.

I just did a device reset and reinstalled the Amazon app market and it is still no go. What version of the app store are you using? The one I just got from Amazon is 2.2.0.

did you go to settings applications and clear data

[Q] Amazon Appstore does´n work since yesterday

Hello Guys,
since Yesterday i have the Problem that i can´t downloading stuff from the Amazon Market. I has allready worked fine the last Day (i´m from germany).
But now if i clicking on "Get Free" the purchasing screen appears and the than i go back to "get free" but nothing happens.
Someone have the same issue?
I had some similar issues the other day. What worked for me was clearing cache and data on the appstore app.
Go to Settings>More>Applications and change the filter to "All Applications". Scroll down and select "Appstore". You may be able to just clear cache and force stop at this point but I cleared the data as well before stoping the app (you won't lose any apps).
Go back to the appstore and try to download again. Hope it works for ya.

No Luck with this.
Still the same issue, after clearing cache and data.
I have a similar issue.
Since yesterday I can't get the free apps anymore. When I click on it, it says purchasing, then goes back to "get free" button.
I was using a "test" credit card to get the apps because I'm not in the US.
Wonder if amazon fixed the leak or if its just a temporary glitch.
I did clear the appstore data and cache, and after that I got this problem. Don't know if it could be related or if it was just coincidence.
I cleared the appstore data and cache because an app got stuck in the installing process.
not working for me either since yesterday, i am also using a fake US address and test credit card. clearing data and cache did not help, but i was able to get free app of the day from the computer and then download on device.
I think it is a temporary glitch.
Ive had this happen on my phone and I use real info because I'm in the us... the only solution was time... after a couple days (once it was a week) it started working again

It's still working with my "test" account so far. I downloaded couple of games and apps for last 2 days.
I have the same problem since yesterday
Can someone explain how to get free app via computer?
Been having the same problem. Tried clearing cache and data, but it still doesn't work. Hope it's a temporary issue.

Use a VPN on the computer. I use Hotspot Shield. You can use various others available to trick it to think you are in the US.

Ok, i´m happy that i´m not the only one with this issue. So i think the only thing we can do is wait...
Work around for app downloading
I am having the same issue, can't install apps from the Amazon App Store BUT I found a work around.
Go to the Amazon app store on your computer, log in and then you can purchase or download apps and send them to your device.
Works great for me for the time being.
Good luck
Since my free month of Prime expired I haven't been able to get anything off Appstore, I'm not in the US though so I'll have to try via VPN.
Same problem with me, amazon may be checked user ip download app, so only us ip are acceptable. What a pity!

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
can we change somehow the ip?

From my side it still work when i place the order by the Amazon website.
If you get the message "We could not process your order because of geographical restrictions..." you have to use Unblock-US to get it work.
Was having same problem, tried faking gps location and using market enabler didn't work.
so i logged in here amazon(dot)com/mobile-apps/
after logging in i used a US proxy which i got from cool-proxy(dot)net/index.php?action=proxy-list - use sort by country.
after that i just clicked purchase (on free app) and it was able to install it from store.
Hope it helps
Amazon has fixed the vulnerability and I can no longer use it from India using the Fire, on trying to buy any free app it says Appstore is not available in your region, i had made an account with fake US address and a test credit card.
However I can still use VPN to log on the Amazon website and get all the free apps from the website and then download the apps to the device.

[Solved] New Google Play .apk?

Just wondering since Google is updating the android market to a newer version that's all encompassing (music, apps, books, movies) called Google Play, if our rooted KF's are going to see the update OTA or if we'll need to sideload it? If sideloading will be the option, will it be the same as sideloading the current market .apk or will we need to employ new steps? Thx
Here is link to apk from rootzwiki: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/20095-android-market-apk-google-play-3612/
Update: Got both my KF & Infuse 4G updated!

I dunno, but my market shows all the play stuff when I'm in it.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
My Kindle Fire (rooted CM9) got the OTA update and it removed my market app and added the play app in its place, i didnt even realize it till a couple of minutes ago lol
I got the "upgrade" the last time i opened the Market. Hadn't heard anything about it prior, so I was kinda freaked out. I didn't know what to do for a second.
Thanks for this, as I got totally screwed by Google on the update. I clicked "what's this?", my web browser opened up, and afterwards my Market icon was gone, as well as the upgrade process. To re-install Market requires a hard reset! Freaking Google. I hate not being in control of my own damn phone.
Works great on the Inspire 4G, thanks
Go into the settings of your phone, then apps (all), then go to the market app.
Do a 'Clear Data' on the Market app.
Next time you start up your Market app you should have to agree to terms, and then the app will update to Google Play.

Nope, wasn't in the list! Totally gone. Good thing the .apk was there above, disguised as a .zip file. Installed fine.
So I was able to install the google play apk on my unrooted kindle fire and I can now browse the market, but the only thing is that it forces close when I try to download app updates or any new apps. Any ideas?
Installed Google Play on my Rooted Kindle fire, running Stock ROM, it had removed the 'MARKET' and added 'Play Store', i guess its the same thing? i dont know the difference? can anyone explain please?
Thanks
They basically just renamed the app from Market to Google Play. Does the same things as before. This is not the first time it has been updated.
On my Rezound phone, I renamed it back to Market and changed the Icon back to the old icon.
**Edit** Just did it to the KF now too. Screen cap of it below:

I'm stuck in this very same loop. I can do everything but download an app or let it try to update an app I have installed. So far, I'm stumped.

Try clearing the cache and data for the app and see if that will help. That's worked for me in the past. Hope this helps.

[Q] Does anyone know how to Fix App Store Authentication Error

I just got a Kindle Fire for my wife and it is linked to an already existing Amazon account, with a valid Credit Card linked and working fine with books.
When I try to go into the App Store it lets me in but I can't download anything. I can't even get into the "MyApps" section. A box pops up saying "Authenticating" but then goes away, and it goes back to the screen I was just on.
I noticed this issue out of the box and did some research where people made some recommendations such as "Clear Data" from the App. That didn't help, neither did a factory reset. I was hoping that rooting it and uninstalling the App Store app would help, but it didn't.
I figured I would try to turn off the in-App purchasing to see that might help but it would not accept my password. Hmmm Odd, I wonder if somehow this is holding onto an old account, since this was a refurbished Fire.
Personally I could live without the Amazon App Store and the Stock Rom, but my wife really wants it setup and wants to preserve the look and feel.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
I had that same thing. For me the problem was that I had too many devices registered with the Amazon App store, since I frequently reinstall ROM on my tablet.
There are two places the Kindle gets registered. One is under Mange My Kindle and the other is somewhere within you app store settings. I removed all my devices from the Manage My Kindle area but that didn't fix it. I actually had to call Amazon and they removed all my device registrations from the App Store portion for me, but they said I would have been able to do it myself if I had gone in there.
Sorry I don't have the specific directions to the link. But you should be able to find all your associated devices in you App Store settings online and delete them. After doing this I just restarted my Kindle and the app store worked like a charm.
Thanks that was exactly it. I have a Gtablet and 4 Android phones that get flashed all the time. I went in and deleted them and it fixed the problem.
The path to get to this section is:
Amazon Account settings -> Android Apps & Devices -> Your Devices
And start de-registering devices no longer needed.

Google Play Store Problems

Not sure if this is the right place to post or not.
I just purcahsed a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Set it up and noticed the Android Market Icon was still there??? Went to download some apps and it prompted me to download Playstore. After Playstore was downloaded imediatly started freezing up and forcing close. Uninstalled, re-booted, reinstalled again and same problem. Unistalled, did master reset, did another initial set-up, went to Playstore and same problem. Wasted an hour of my life on the phone with T-mobile customer care and tech support then wasted another 35 minutes with Samsung tech support with no positive outcome. So this moring I turn to the internet and the real experts. Doing a quick google search I see that in the past week or two there have been a huge influx of Playstore complaints that sound similar to mine and it appears they are not device or carrier specific. Has Google come out an said there is a problem? Anyone else on here having any issues? FYI, I did confirm that I am running the most recent updates.
I checked and I do have the most recent system update on my device. I am not a "geek" but have been using Android devices since before they were availabel to the public and this Samsung is my 6th Android device so I am not a newb, that being said I am ready to throw my new Tab through a wall because I can usually work my way through glitches and get them corrected on my own. I was using a crappy old Viewsonic G-Pad before this, I thought I was upgrading but thet old rooted G-Pad is far better than this garbage.
Thanks in advance.
so are you saying you are on android version 4.0.4? that version should have come with the "play store".
I haven't had any issues myself, but you can try going into settings-applications, and then select the market/play store and clear data and cache. You can also uninstall updates if it still acts up.

Yes, it is version 4.0.4 yet it has an Android Market icon not a play store icon, I was very suprised when I saw that icon, I have not seen it in months on my other devices, i thought it was a thing of the past. Once I go into android market and try to install an app it then tells me I need to upgrade to Play Store, I click continue, download play store and that is when all hell breaks lose. Once I unistall the Play Store update it runs fine until I try to download another app through the market.
Not sure if this could help, but have you tried, instead of the factory reset, clearing data on Play Store and Google Services Framework, restarting and trying again? Ran into some Play Store trouble this past week and this seemed to solve it
I am having the same problem. I just got this 10.1 t-mobile tablet. I can't do anything because it is constantly popping up saying play store has stopped unexpectedly. I have uninstalled the update, cleared the data and cache. Nothing is working. I am essentially dead in the water as this pops every 30 seconds.
Saw the same problem on my friend tab
My only solution was to root and put cm9 on it. Works great now.

Amazon apps won't install?

I generally despise the Amazon app store, but I caught a few free apps there that I didn't want to pay for on Google. Had 'em all on my Note 4, but absolutely nothing from Amazon will install on the V20.
I've cleared cache/data, restarted, I don't have any Amazon pre-installed bloat disabled, I'm on Verizon so I'm not rooted or anything, I switched to the stock launcher... I haven't done a factory reset, but I've tried everything short of that I could think of and nothing is working... It'll download apps but stay stuck at "Installing..." forever.
I called Amazon customer service and they were worthless, they had me try everything I'd already tried then washed their hands of me and told me to contact LG...
Anybody else seen this problem or know of a fix?

More than likely it's a compatibility issue w/Android 7.0+>,hard to say for sure, not knowing which exact apps you're trying to install.
Typically,Amazon versions of apps are slow to be updated as it is,so,you have a couple of things to look at.
My amazon underground app took a few tries. Pretty sure at one point it was struck on installing and I just backed out of it and it was finished even though it acted like it wasn't.
I have Amazon underground (shopping app) word twist (game) and Amazon music but that's all from Amazon I think.
It's not that the apps themselves won't work, it's that Amazon won't actually install them. In particular I was trying to install Plex, but I've tried a good dozen or so. General stuff, like Yahoo mail and Spotify - everything hangs at installing.
I think something must be hosed with my Amazon app, I just don't know what...

I just installed PLEX w/no issues,T-Mobile version (H918).
Do you have the UNKNOWN SOURCES enabled in Settings > Security?
I'd check the app permissions, make sure they're enabled.
Also clear the store app cache/force stop & try again.
If that fails, delete all the store app data,sign-in anew & try yet again.
If none of that works, perhaps try an older version of the Amazon Appstore .apk:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/amazon-mobile-llc/appstore/
Huh, I'll be... I don't know what happened with this, but I managed to get Plex installed just now...
I was poking around in my file manager and the Android/data/com.amazon.mShop.android folder had an apk in it, "update-154-1479665130487.apk" - turns out that was Plex. It wouldn't install from there because of a media scan. I moved it to my SD card and it installed straight away.
So yay, resolved-ish. Thanks for your input everybody!
I couldn't get video to download. Same issue stuck on installing. Finally just downloaded an apk and called it good
It took two tries to download Amazon video. It got stuck at the download part after I went through all those steps Google make you go through to keep people from using Amazon apps. But worth the effort since you can download certain movies and series with your Prime membership. Saved me on a United flight that surprised many by charging just to watch TV!! I don't think one person paid for it. I also have a YouTube Red subscription but hadn't gotten around to reloading all the content onto my new 256 GB Samsung Plus sd card.
