I wanted to see if anyone else has had this same problem. I have a rooted Kindle Fire and it has stopped charging. I have tried several different plugs and USB cables. I have tried the reset where where you disconnect the KF from the power source and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, the KF will shut off and when you power it back on it will register your plug and start charging. I called Amazon CS and they are sending out a new Kindle Fire, but I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else with a rooted KF and are you on A stock ROM or a custom ROM. I was using MoDoCo GR6 and GR7 and my Fire still won't charge. please let me know some feed back
Mine was rooted and used a custom ICS ROM for more than 3 months with no problem.

maybe this post can help:

the whole thread could be interesting for you ...
Mine worked fine, then stopped working and only charged via micro USB connected to my computer(?). Amazon customer support sent me another charger and then it works now. I am on CM9 Energy with other Cm9 framework-res.apk so there are no weird HTC icons. My problem was the charger.

Everytime I turn off the kf and plug it in, it turns back on I think it might be the twrp recovery.
It is not TWRP... Once you have booted to the OS TWRP is out of the picture.
More than likely you are not using the power supply that came with the unit.
If you use a connection that is less than 1.8V, the device will keep waking up and turning on over and over.
Im using the power cord that came with the kindle fire in the box, it might be the ics rom then i guess.
This happens to me too.
When I plug in my Kindle Fire using the default charger, the device turns on.
I am running the stock rom and it's been happening for a while now.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

This is seems to be a little quirk of the Fire.
If you plug in the cable then shut it down after it turns on, it charges just fine (but the charging LED does not come on, making you think maybe it's not charging). I've not had it power back on after this point, but I have just used the supplied charger.

Thanks!the point is that I can not charge my kindle!there is no power signal!I could go crazy!
i assume you'r using the wall charger - the kf will not load (enough) on a usb port
That's a really right assumption! After I used my original charger that did not help!I assume that's the cold weather and over discharge which affect the normal working about Lithium battery of kindle fire ! I am thinking about changing the battery!Reply for b63,I don't know why I can not directly reply for him just like the last one!
did you try to power it completly off by holding the power button ~30 sec ?
then plug to wall charger without powering on - the orange light should come up
maybe that restores normal loading behavior ...
Thanks you b63 for paying close attention to my problem very much! The stupid problem still persists!I gonna be crazy!!!Whether I can change another kindle from amazon or change the battery !!!
did you try it with an other charger ? maybe the charger is dead - you can use every usb charger with your usb cable.
if it's not the charger i would recommend to change the device - i doubt changing only the battery will help
also i'm pretty shure you will break some of the plastic clamps if you open it
Mine did this once before no matter what I did couldn't get it to power on. No idea why this happens but it does. I'm in cm7 but is still counts as a rom. What I did to get it to power on was just leaving the kindle alone for like 2 or so hours. Then I connected it to the charger and powered it in. Can't promise it'll fix it. Question for you. Does the led inn the power bottom light up at all when charging? if all else fails you could open the back (theses videos out there so toy can do it right) disconnect the Batt. There's a no wires to solder. Just a connecter. that could work.
For the tl;dr version.
Happend to me. Rough to fix some times

Hi all, I plugged my CM7 modded fire to a new PC for charging. Then suddenly my fire froze and went black. I can't turn it back on, no matter how long I hold down the power button. I got nothing.
I plugged my fire to my PC and the firefirefire logo (the yellow triangle one) shows up and it keeps looping back to it. My pc doesn't recognize the fire so I cant perform the unbrick trick.
Can someone help? Many thanks!
the kf won't charge with pc - use the wallcharger for some hours

I charged my KF overnight with USB from my Mac. Rougly 7 hours of charging whilst the device was sleeping. Went from 10% to a mere 80%.
The AC charger that comes with the KF is 1.8amp vs a PC typical USB of 0.5 to 1amp.
Many PC's won't properly charge the KF as a result.
so it's more like my KF is out of juice?
If you get no results after charging you will need to do a restore

ok thanks, I'll report back after a few hours of charging
I know this did not happen to you,but if you were stuck on the yellow triangle you would do this
1.Download kindle fire utility 2.
Unzip kindle fire utility
3.To install the driver, its easy, just plug in your kindle, when it pops up with the install wizard say pick from the location of: KindleFireUtility>drivers>kindle
4.run kindle fire utility,select 1 then select 1 again
That's it, hope it helps someone like me
I just bought a refurbished Kindle Fire from Amazon, ran the permanent root process on Kindle Fire Utility, seemed to work fine, told me I was rooted and with great power comes great responsibility. Right after, the Kindle turned off and I can't get it to turn back on, its just a black screen. Anyone have thoughts on what might be causing this?

Have you tried holding the power button several minutes?

empty battery ? wall charger for some hours
I tried charging it for four hours and I pressed the power button for almost five minutes, nothing. Interesting thing is the charger light doesn't come on when charging, there's zero response from the tablet. I'm starting to think its faulty hardware.

btw it can last up to an hour until the led is coming up if the battery is realy flat ...
I used KFU to root my KF (with v6.3) and somewhere in downloading the twrp, something went wrong. The next thing was that it asked to press any key to continue; when I did, the cmd prompt disappeared. I disconnected the KF after some time which was the biggest mistake. When I plugged it back in, win 7 cannot recognize it anymore. I tried to install device drivers but it couldnt get through to the device. I ran the Kindle Unbrick Utility v1.1 and it also couldn't find the device. Now, when I plug it in the usb, Windows recognizes it as Kindle but it turns on and off so fast.
I would appreciate any help, please!! Thank you.
Your battery is probably dead and USB doesn't provide enough power. Plug it into the wall charger for a while then fix your drivers/bootmode etc.

Thanks for replying, soupmagnet
I am charging my KF now just to see how it behaves when it should be fully charged. It seems to turn itself off when I take out the charger even after a few minutes of charging. I'll give it a few hours... I'm already missing my KF (
