[Q] Does this phone have an option to add an MicroSD Card? - Trophy General

Is there a place for an SD Card?
This might sound redundant, but I couldn't find the answer.
Also, since I contemplating making the move: is it as easy with Windows Phone to move pics to my desktop as it is with android? Simple plug the phone as a USB driver?
Thanks

The Trophy (either the Verizon or GSM) does not have an accessible SDCard. The normal GSM model ships with 8GB, and the Verizon model ships with 16GB. There are plenty of people who have swapped the SDCard out for a larger one, but it will void the warranty on the phone.
If you are looking at a GSM Trophy.. well.. there are plenty of better/newer WP7's that have an accessible SDCard slot, but if you are on Verizon and looking at their Trophy, the Trophy could possibly be the only WP7 for a long time. :/

Sim Card Cloning?

Is there a way I can clone/duplicate my sim card? I have a 8525 with BB connect but I also have a Blackberry, and I want to have the same chip in both so I can utilize either one without having to swap sim cards all the time. I know that I cannot have both on at the same time, but I am just paranoid about messing with sim card too much.
theoretically you can, but its a very complex progress on the new cards and im not aware of anyone who has cracked it. On older SIM cards it is possible however, so it really depends how old it is.
The problem is network authentication; the card connects to the network which then sends out a 'key'. To connect, the phone must respond with the correct answer which it deciphers from that key. On older sim cards there was a way of tricking the card into giving up the algorithm used to calculate its response, but the security is a lot harder to crack on new cards.
What does those duplicators do that I see all the time. What about the universal cards? I thought there might be a way of using something like that to copy the card. But maybe I am wrong.
You can try this, its the most popular cloning software that will do a full clone (its spanish)
http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?u=http%3A%2F%2Fsimemu.cjb.net%2F&langpair=es%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8
Like i said, people clone the older cards. It can depend on your network and what checks they perform, etc I know here in the UK the networks are quite tight, but its not the same everywhere.
Thanks, I will check this out and see what I can do with it.

Backing up SIM to storage card?

I'm just trying to transfer my data from the SIM to storage card as I have just bought a touch cruise. I dont want to do this by swapping the SIMs around with the phones as I've already spent a few hours setting up the touch cruise and it will mess things up. Is it possible to back up the SIM to the storage card so I can transfer that way instead?
Cheers!
James
There are a number of commercial SIM backup solutions available. Do a search here or on Google (SIM Card Recovery), and don't forget the freeware pocketpc software sites; you're sure to come up with some. Not all of them require payment for a license, but the truth of it is, the paid-for versions are often more feature-rich than the free ones.
This wouldn't be the case for all software, but when it comes to backup software (of any kind) it seems to hold true.

[Q] Memory Issue

So I have a 2gb card in my HD2 right now while running live and according to my sync with my computer, i have .16 gigs left on it.
Isn't there memory onboard the HD2? I know that WP7 uses the memory from the card, but i would at least think it would use some of the memory from the HD2. Do I need to go buy a larger card? I mean I hate to spend $20 on a card if I don't need to. Right now im at the point where I cannot even transfer a photo.

WP7 in it's present incarnation only recognizes and uses 512MB of the the HD2's 1GB so you need a larger SD card if you have one. What happened to your factory SD that came with the HD2...I believe it was a 4GB microSD?
I got this phone for free, so im using an old sd card i had laying around. im gonna probably just go to radio shack while they are having this sale to get the 16g scan disk.
Here is a question. In my sync, it says the capacity on my card is .16g, I had android on there before. Is android still on there? If so, is there a way to remove it? i want to make sure i am getting all the memory out of my card

WP7 installation is supposed to reformat your SD card. In Zune, under view settings or one of the lists of what you can you do with your phone, there is a way to view how much memory you have to play with and also be able to re-allocate memory for specific uses. Check it out.

I cant use zune since i have an Apple iMac. Im using the windows phone 7 connector software off the windows site. It supposedly is the zune version for mac. I just find it hard to believe that ONLY the rom is taking up 2gb of space.
OK, very interesting senerio here. I took out SD card and booted up the phone. The phone actually loaded into windows just fine. Not only that, my wifi was detected. But with the SD card in, no wifi. My SD card must not work

yeah that is correct, your SD card hasnt been recognised at the initial setup, you need to try one of two things, try formatting the card in a digital camera (to be honest even this isnt a great idea) or two, you need a new SD card
SD cards even within the same brands and models may or may not work, some will not install at all, others will install but with issues, wifi, random reboots, lagging, to name a few.
The reason i mention the formating isnt an ideal solution is because, yes it may work, but the underlying issue of the card not originally working is still there, all you have done is moved the bar a bit, the card its self may still generate errors.

Well, I have tried the 3, 2g SD cards I had from getting phones. I also went and bought a $30 SD card and it did not work, so I returned it and got a different $30 SD card, which also did not work.
I am getting pretty fed up.
Does anyone have a spare SD card, that they know works that they want to sell/give me? I don't care the size, i just want to be able to load peoples pictures into the phone..
I just hate wasting my money on cards that don't seem to work

First of all, since you live in Trinity, it would be nice if you knew how to writer proper sentence to get your question across.
Secondly, why you're spending $30 for an SD card is beyond me.
Third, you need to consider the brand and speed of the SD cards you are supposedly purchasing. Are you buying a brand from a reputable manufacturer and are you buying a card with sufficient speed for WP7? I would recommend at a minimum a Class 4 card (Class 6 highly suggested). Also, a 2GB card probably won't buy you anything on WP7 since WP7 on an HD2 uses the SD card a the primary source of working memory. Thus, at a bare minimum a 4GB card is recommended.
And as most of the posting on the forum have indicated, the SD card issue on the HD2 is a hit and miss affair. And I really do hope you have the SD card in the phone when you install WP7, otherwise, no amount of changing will work.

i would highly NOT recomend a class 6 card, there is less chance of that working.
The class ratings define sustained sequential speed, WP7 doesnt need that, it needs high random speeds, the two are not always compatible, go for a class 2 or 4 card and you are more LIKELY to get a card that works, as teh above poster mentioned, it is hit or miss and there is no compatible list, there is apparently a AT&T card branded for WP7, good luck finding a place that sells that outside of an actual shop and expect to pay a premium for it.

Yes I have installed WP7 with the SD card in. First with the 2g card that came with my HD2, then with a Scandisk 4g one, and then with a $30 Kingston 16g one.
Honestly, im going to radioshack tomorrow and going to buy a 4g kingston class 4 one. In the sd card forum it says it works. So we will see.

did you honestly read those threads? there isnt any 100% compatible cards, all these, "confirmed working cards" threads are about as confirmed as the paper its been wrote on. Buy what you can afford, because the only way you are getting a "confirmed" card is if someone has actually tried it and has given it to you. Also its worth noting that getting it installed on the card is only half the battle, if WP7 has the slightest issue with thecard it it can course several different issues.
As i said, its very much luck if you can get it working, it absolutely flys and is super smooth if you can get it perfect

Strongly recommend you review this site for this information. The SD card, and 4G slots is the #1 topic of discussion here.
In brief, the SD slot is NOT usable at this time. It will be in the future. Read some of the other threads about it. They will tell you what you need to know..
The Sim slot is NOT usable for 3G at this time. The sim slot is for a 4g accessable card. That is not yet available. It will be in the near future, but will require the device be returned to Motorola for configuration.
Again, read the forum, use the search feature. there is no lack of information on these 2 topics.
Good luck

Dual-SIM + Micro-SD

Hello,
I currently own a ZTE Axon 7.
So the question is simple: Would it be possible to insert both a nano-SIM and a Micro-SD card in the second slot?
I've seen that on some OnePlus devices people managed to 'hack' this hybrid system and indeed put both a nano-SIM and a Micro-SD card in the hybrid slot.
Has anyone tried it with the Axon 7? Maybe there's less room to fit both cards on top of each other in our device than in an OnePlus device? No clue here...
Opinions? Answers?
Cheers,
Abiram26
I think is not possible withouth damage sim and sdcard. the space is too small.
But need a try.
Do you even bother to use the search tool ?
There is a thread in that regard, some people tried it and it works. Here's the link.
Next time try to do a quick search .
I saw a video on youtube where a guy did it. Although it looks dangerous (to the SIM and SD card) if not done properly. I wouldn't want to risk my 256 sd card. Could care less about the SIM here since they are mostly free lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgLfuGtieic
