As for your question, the correct partition sizes will be stated in your ROM of choice. Just use the HD2 NAND toolkit to make everything easier.

Yes, this, except skip steps 1 to 4 and only flash a new recovery
As I said, use the HD2 NAND toolkit to repartition, it makes things much easier. If you want to you can also download the suggested Recovery_150M_system_5M_cache then change the file inside that folder called Flash.cfg to the required size

All you need to do is flash a new recovery. This post says it's 172mb. Task29 and stuff really won't help you uness you are experiencing major problems.

Yes you need to create an SD EXT partition, but this can easily be done in CWM. To flash a 172 MB partition, download any recovery size then open the file flash.cfg (not flash.cfg.txt) with notepad, then change the system partition size to 172 MB and leave everything else the same

well if your using the TBD 3.6 on an eu phone you will need an sd ext of at least 1gig

[QNS] How to REPLACE a kernel ???

If i m using CWM to install a rom
Hi,
The way I did it was: download the ROM and kernel zips:>Then put them both on the sd card root :>go into cwm:>ad recovery:>wipe data ,dalvik and partitions:>install ROM:>install kernel:> reboot.
You should bear in mind that not all kernels will work with all ROMS.
My sig shows what worked for me
thx was trying Ultimate Droid rom but the default dont support ext4..
Your Ultimate Droid [op] shows 3 kernels which have been tested.
Why don't you try one using method I suggested
never
I tried to do so many times and never got it right
agree here..
try all... none of them let me using ext4

This is also for ebotross. Are you both using the MAGLDR or the cLK version of the ROM? You have to use a kernel that is compatible with MAGLDR if you are using MAGLDR and a kernel that is compatible with cLK if you are using cLK. Cedesmith has a patch posted in the cLK thread to apply to a kernel to make it cLK compatible.
using MAGLDR

That is strange then the kernels posted in the thread for the Ultimate Droid should work as they should be for MAGLDR, unless the Rom chef posted those kernels for the cLK users. Have you posted in the thread about your issue?
posted.. no reply
i tried number of time..
i alway see i got 5mb even less under storage... that mean i not using ext4 as internal
u see... the rom requet to use CWM v1.3 150MB but i use 400M
if i got 1gb ext.. after install this rom i cannot be left only 2-5mb
When you first flashed the ROM where you coming from a different ROM? If so did you do a complete restore or a partial restore using advanced restore? If you used just the regular restore then you do not have Ultimate Droid but you have your old ROM as the System restores your ROM and the Boot restores your kernel. Not all kernels are compatible with all ROMs as the ROMs for the HD2 are all custom ROMs. Also in native Android devices kernels are pretty much device specific so you can not use a kernel from one device on another device without modifying it.

Damn I think I know what you did but I can not remember where I read it at. It was something about if you do something with a certain file or something you actually double it which would turn your 400M into 800M and that would leave you only 2mb. I will have to try to find it again.
i format every thing and start from 0
format sd card using SDFormatter V2.0
create ext3 or ext4... tried both
install rom...
i give up so i now reinstall to CWM v1.3 150M but i only have 200M???? but i tot if we use EXT3 or 4 we should had more than that????
Hi,
I think your 200M is internal memory which is found in
settings>sd & storage>internal phone storage.
The space you have on your SD card is different and probably much larger.
You say the ROM requested 150M ,you should follow this accurately. This will give you more internal memory.
The EXT partition is space on your SD card which will still be 1gb.
They are two different things.

you have partitioned your sd,not nand. i think your rom needs 5-150-5 nand partition. unrar attached file.connect phone to pc.in mgldr go to usb flasher- see usb flasher.....usb-right click on daf-run as administrator-after it finishes flash your rom using mgldr-ad recovery-install zip from sd-choose zip from sd-choose your rom.zip.after it finishes reboot.
(save this recovery folder in pc.when you need a different size of nand partition open flash.cfg with notepad and arrange it according to your needs.)

it s normal that nand boot fails, because you didnt flash your rom.zip from sd yet. nand partitioning arranges your phone's internal memory according to the need s of roms. if you use a rom with same nand partition size (e.g. miui roms or cm7 roms but not sense roms) you will not apply partition again, just wipe data/factory reset in ad recovery menu and flash the rom.

That guy had bootloops, maybe the same error? anyway, Follow this post by me ,, it is a full & complete step by step on how to install the ROM you wanted (HyperGBX).
Most importantly, Swap Step 8 with your MAGLDR ROM from pongster's thread (HyperGBX)

NAND Partition 250MB - SD-EXT4 2GB what do these mean, an do i need em?
Where did you find these information? where did you find NAND partition 250 .... etc ?
Maybe you have bad blocks (which I hope not, because data cannot be written on them, resulting in some missing system files, thus giving you bootloops).

No, you don't partition your SD, you flash a new CWM partition layout. Download CWM, change the flash.cfg to whatever size is necessary then enter USB flasher mode on the phone and flash from the PC. On your SD card a 1gb EXT partiton is recommended which is probably what you had before changing it.

a2sd script for stock rom v 2.2 overcome internal memory issue

hello all.
i have HTC desire with stock ROM v 2.2 and i have rooted my phone and flashed the CM10 | Jelly Bean 4.1.2 - v3.1 which supports a2sd script and allow to install many app in the SD-ext partition but there were some problems in the battery drain . video play back flickering and video recorder so i restored my original stock ROM it is very fast and no the jellybean's issues but the only problem is limited internal memory so i need your help to have a2sd script or any script to overcome this problem
thanks.
Use any non sense gingerbread ROM if u want speed + battery life.
I would recommend using milwilds redux or oxygen ROM. They have a2sd built in and activated, so all u need to is flash the rom if you have already made the partition.

You need to flash a stock ROM that comes pre rooted. From there you can install an a2sd script.
I would really recommend a custom gingerbread ROM though. It looks like you just had a bad experience with the new jb ROMs, but trust me the GB roms are good. they are fast, stable, and optimized from a2sd.

1. Partition your sd card using this guide if you havent already done so.
2. Download Mildwild v4.9 based on Oxygen from here. Then copy the zip to your sdcard
3. Reboot into recovery. If you are using cwm recovery do the following: wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache. If using 4ext recovery go to the wipe menu and select "format all partitions (except sd card)"
4. Then go to install and choose the zip of the rom you previously copied to the sd card. Once it has successfully flashed, reboot
5. Leave it for about 5 minutes to load everything up (the first boot may take up to 10 min so be patient)
6. If you made the partition correctly in step 1, whenever you install an app it will automatically be moved to the sd card ext partition.
@OP, if u r going to use MildWild Oxygen (very good rom) then i would highly recommend changing hboots (if ur s-off) to get the most space for data partition, otherwise ul be wasting over 100mb in system partition.

but in your opinion what's the best size of created Ext for this Rom and what about swap .am using CWM v4.0.1.4 and have partitioned Sd card on it with 2048m as Ext 3 ?
after flashing this ROM will i use terminal emulator to activate a2sd script or it will activate automatically ??
Sorry for inconvenience chromium

@OP, if u r going to use MildWild Oxygen (very good rom) then i would highly recommend changing hboots (if ur s-off) to get the most space for data partition, otherwise ul be wasting over 100mb in system partition.

First of all dont use cwm to make the partition. Read this guide to learn how to correctly make the partition. You can easily install 4ext recovery which is better than cwm and it will make good partitions. I would recommend a 1gb ext4, and no swap. After flashing the rom, a2sd will be already activated so theres no need to use terminal emulator to do anything.
Jmcclue is suggesting that you use a different hboot (internal memory partition layout). Using stock hboot with mildwilds oxygen rom, you will be wasting more than 100mb on the system partition. If you want to optimize the internal partition layout so that you have the most space on on the data partition, it would be wise to use the cm7r2 hboot, or even one of the custom hboots that jmcclue has made (check his signature).

OK hboot is the layout of partition sizes on the internal memory. There are 3 partitions: system, cache and data.
Stock hboot gives 250mb to system which is way too much because mildwilds oxygen rom only needs 110mb.
Since you are wasting 140mb on system, you get less space on data(to store app data on)
With cm7r2 hboot u get 145mb system partition, and more space on data.
Changing hboot is pretty easy, but i guess u could say its more risky than flashing a rom. Its not mandatory to do it but it would make sense to do so. Its your choice.
If you leave it with stock hboot everything will work fine, but your data partition will fill up faster. If you aren't planning on installing more than 50 apps then stock should be fine. If you want the ability to install lots of apps (more than 50) then install cm7r2.
How many apps do u think you will install?

I will change my hboot but i don't know which one can i install to work with the Rom and the method of installation.
i have read the jcullum's thread of custom hboots and downloaded the custom hboots but there are many files and can't differentiate between them which is the more suitable to my device and which is the proper method for installing it
which i can understand it.is too move any hboot.img from any folder to SD card and flash it from recovery ?
if this right ? i wanna recommendation to the proper one for this ROM and more safe definitely

may be more than 30 app but more of them is small sized app. the big one is Facebook app, messenger, maps, viber, weechat, and whatsapp
the another ones are some widgets and small sized apps plus to officesuite and youtube
No u don't flash any hboot files through recovery. This is how to flash the hboot:
1. Go to http://alpharev.nl/ and download the PB99IMG for the cm7r2 hboot.
2. Once it has downloaded, rename it to PB99IMG and put it on the root of your sd card (not in any folders)
3. Boot into hboot(volume down + power). Wait a bit while it searches for the file
4. When it finds the file it will ask if you want to install. Press volume up to install. The reboot.

[Q] New Rom for HTC HD2, NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.1 V2.1 [NativeSD]

Hi,
I am currently using Rom from tyween: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951 and I would like to install a new one from Tytung http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224469 .
My questions:
1. in description of tytungs Rom is stated that NAND version is for USA T-mobile so I assume that with my international version I have to use the other two versions and if so then the only way to install it is using aurora installer?
2. Nevertheless I tried NAND version installed it using CWM but then it got stuck on loading screen, could this problem be solved by this patch? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40623956&postcount=821
3. Is it possible to use Rom Manager to install this Rom? I have only tried CWM method and this one seems also really easy to use.
Thank you for your answers!!!

Nand is divided into two: 1- Pure Nand (EVERYTHING is on the NAND of the device) and 2- Nand with DataOnExt (as the name implies, some of the data will be stored on an EXT partition on your SD card).
Since the international version of the HD2 only has about half a gig of storage, if you fit everything into the NAND you won't have enough space left for you to install apps and whatnot. If you want it on NAND, you need to choose the second option (some data on the sdcard), but you need to make sure you have an EXT partition on your sd card first (if you don't know how to make one, search).
And "aurora" (you mean aroma*) is just a path, it IS like you said THE installer. It's got nothing to do with your installation. It is just a fancy make-up for the old installation method. Yes, you'll have to use it.

No, that patch is for something else. Your problem is different.
If you mean:
1- NAND Only, then you may have not made enough partition space for the system. (Either way, you shouldn't use this one, use NAND WITH dataonext).
but if you mean 1- NAND with DataOnExt, then it is either your partition size is too small or you do not have a proper sdcard ext partition.

It's the same thing. When you select "Install ROM" in ROM Manager, it will actually reboot your device into CWM and you will have to follow the steps of Aroma as well. Yes, you can use it if you have cLK bootloader and not magldr.
You are welcome
According to your answer, I have to download AROMA installer and use it for installing new Rom. In DataOnExt version will 1 Gb partition be enough?

No, Aroma is *included* in the .zip file of the ROM. Just download the ROM, flash from recovery normally but instead of the usual text of procedure, you'll see a fancy screen where you get to configure the ROM before it is installed.
In my opinion, yes, 1GB is more than enough.
recover
Hi.i can not enter to recovery in this rom.Can someone help me.I installed by cwn

CWM is independent from the ROM you install.
If you are talking about "boot into recovery" from within the ROM, that's a rom's feature and does not have to be included in it. You can reach the recovery by rebooting your phone into MAGLDR and then choosing the option AD. Recovery or something like that.
Just to add a little to Marvlesz's answer, reboot into recovery/bootloader on any ROM will just reboot the phone normally if you have MAGLDR. To access CWM just hold power for the MAGLDR menu then select 8. AD Recovery. If you use cLK on the other hand, reboot into recovery does work if I'm not mistaken.
I tried to install this ROM using various settings (DataOnExt / Native SD, wipe/no wipe, magldr / ppp...) but phone always ends up rebooting itself after htc loading screen. I did partition SD card to FAT 32 (primary) and 1GB EXT4 (primary).
What could be the problem and how to solve it?
Thank you!

What /system partition size did you use? Make sure it's big enough for the ROM you're trying to flash.

EXT4 = 1GB. I partitioned SD card with Mini Tool Partition Wizard, then copied Zip on SD card, wiped data (factory reset + dalvik) installed ROM. To me it feels like I did everything according to instructions...

No, not your SD EXT partition, the partition you flashed when flashing CWM.

285. To create that, go to wherever your CWM thing is stored on your PC, open the CWM folder, open the file flash.cfg (not flash.cfg.txt.) in notepad (it should open in this way automatically) then change the value next to the line beginning 'SYSTEM...' from 150 to 285, keeping everything else exactly the same.
