Please use at least 165MB system partition and at least 2MB cache partition.

sigh... this is disheartening...

i don't get it. i go to 8. AD RECOVERY and partition SD to at least 200mb and least 2mb and still just loads and loads and loads on the colorful boot screen.

No, you don't partition your SD, you flash a new CWM partition layout. Download CWM, change the flash.cfg to whatever size is necessary then enter USB flasher mode on the phone and flash from the PC. On your SD card a 1gb EXT partiton is recommended which is probably what you had before changing it.

[Q] need a little bit of help with clockwork recovery :)

Ok, I've been able to keep up with all the flashing of android on hd2 fairly easy since the beginning almost a year ago. This is the only time I've ever really had a hard time figuring it this thing out.
I have flashed nand miui rom with 250mb partition on my eu hd2 through clockwork recovery. I'm trying to try other builds so I do the same method previously by flashing the zip file on my sd card through clockwork but it always get stuck at "unpacking sdext" files.
Is it because each build require different size partitions? Is it something else? Am I missing a step?
This clockwork stuff is pretty confusing...help is appreciated and thank you all in advanced. Much love.
Yes, different builds do require different partition sizes. A GingerBread build can get by on a 150mb (and possibly less) partition, whereas a Desire HD based build will require a 400mb partition.
so how do i go about doing this? because ive tried to partition my card, but it just erases everything clean even with a backup

The latest cwm partitions are flashed to your NAND and has nothing to do with partitions on your sd card. The sd card partitions are needed to run certain roms on the EU512 device.
To flash a cwm 1.3 partition, you need magldr 1.13, download the partition size you need, boot to usb flasher in magldr and run the daf.exe file from the download. It will wipe data on your phone NAND memory and should have no impact on data on the sd card.
I already have cwm 1.3 and magldr 1.13. I already flashed miui rom. That means I have to use a computer to flash other Roms as well? I thought the point of cwm is so u can flash and switch between roms without a comp?
or does this mean flash through the computer once and then u can switch between roms? sorry if I'm really dumb
You can (as long as you have the same partition size as is needed). I haven't tried it, but I guess you could install the 400mb partition and that should cover all rom types. The only problem is that you then create a larger partition on NAND than may be needed for some roms thereby reducing the internal memory available.

ahhhhhh. I think I will try that and report back to see how it goes. thanks so much for your help. I will try to do the same for other people once I figure this out
I'd be interested to know the answer. Good luck....
welps. I have tried with no luck. I actually ruined my 8gb SD card trying it and had to get a new one.
Ive been able to flash the 400mb partition and have been able to flash any rom but like it has already been stated it affects the amount of internal memory available, not too bad for me as i have a tmous

Ok, send me your 8Go SD if you think it's dead
NAND and SD are two different things. For your SD, just delete/recreate the partition and it will be new again.
Explanation I post somewhere else (hope it wll help you to understand):
===
I will try to explain.
I assume you have a non-TMOUS device. So your internal storage (let call it NAND) is 512Mo. This is all what your have.
The CWM xxxMo will be what your allocate for your build.
If you allocate 150 (by flashing CWM 150MB) you will have 512-150=362Mo free.
If you use CWM 400... you will have 112Mo free space.
The build you want to use take a little bit more than 100Mo. So why using CWM400 to fill it with only 100Mo???
You have to use the smallest CWM to put your build in it. This will give you the more storage space after installing the build.
Don't think the more "CWM" you will use the more space you will have. It's exacly the opposite.
Hope you understand. Please take into account that the figures I give are appoximation. Don't complain if instead of 362Mo you have only 300... it's more than enough anyway for most of us.
===
So if your first NAND needed a small partition only, you may have to flash again CWM with another partition setting (for ex a 400Mo to fit a desire HD NAND).
Go on the CWM thread to find the version you need (150, 250 and 400 are available). Some thread are also available to modify the config file to make the partition size you want.
By using the 400Mo most build will be flashable... but you will have very little free space and will have to use your SD card (APP2SD or other soft).
I prefer to put everything in NAND for two reasons:
1/ I can remove my SD when I want
2/ I think it's better for battery consumption to not use the SD (but this I don't know, it's just what I think).
i was able to recover the sd card (thanks). anddddd i was able to kind of, sort of, dual boot, two different builds except that one of them has force close issues constantly.

It all depends on the version of phone. Go to the link I posted in post 2 and read the links. 390M partition is for TMOUS, there is a smaller partition (plus EXT on sdcard) for EU, I believe.
You right it does depend but if he partitioned with 350 and the ROM called for 400 then it's "relatively" safe to think he didn't give enough space when he partitioned his phone. That is depending on the phone of course.

you have partitioned your sd,not nand. i think your rom needs 5-150-5 nand partition. unrar attached file.connect phone to pc.in mgldr go to usb flasher- see usb flasher.....usb-right click on daf-run as administrator-after it finishes flash your rom using mgldr-ad recovery-install zip from sd-choose zip from sd-choose your rom.zip.after it finishes reboot.
(save this recovery folder in pc.when you need a different size of nand partition open flash.cfg with notepad and arrange it according to your needs.)

it s normal that nand boot fails, because you didnt flash your rom.zip from sd yet. nand partitioning arranges your phone's internal memory according to the need s of roms. if you use a rom with same nand partition size (e.g. miui roms or cm7 roms but not sense roms) you will not apply partition again, just wipe data/factory reset in ad recovery menu and flash the rom.

[Q] HTC BLISS - WWE SENSE 3.5 FOR HD2 [v1.1]

Hello everybody
I have to post here because I can't in NAND development...
This is a general question, but I post the title of the Bliss sense 3.5 rom because I actually have this...
This is a great rom , but I have 2 problems with my EU 512mb HD2...
The first, and very important, is the room left... Looking with Apps2sdgui those are my general info:
internal memory free(total): 25mb(206mb)
sd-ext free(total): 1392mb(1830mb)
cache free(total): 25mb(206mb)
So, what can I exactly delete using root explorer? Can you explain me please what exactly apps2sdgui does? I haven't understood its function, because my internal memory is full though Apps2sdgui says "apps are on SD"...
The second is the available ram... I have max 60/70mb free, according to Apps2sdgui... Sometimes, when switch from an app to another, I see the white screen with the htc green word in the middle for a 10-15 seconds... What can I do to make my phone faster and more fluid?
You do not have to delete anything using root explorer, and your apps seems to be in your SD card's EXT partition. Your cache seems poetry high though- not much you can do without backing up, repartitioning and restoring.
The free memory seems ok, though not great. Sense 3.5 builds are still being developed and are not stable yet. The HTC logo that flashes by is your Android rebooting.
If you prefer stability, choose an AOSP or CM7 build...
Swyped from my HTC HD2 running CM7 (Gingerbread 2.3.5)

Stuck on Quitely briliant screen
Hi
I have tried flashing this rom through CLW and everything goes well until the device reboots. it gets stuck on the Quietly brilliant screen. I left it run for 30 minutes with no luck of actually booting the system.
I have noticed when i pull my battery out and mount the device nothing is created on the SD card (no folders or files).
I have a 3 GB SD card and I have partitioned it through AD recovery with 2GB and 0 swap EXT partition.
I flashed MYUI again since i was using it before but i would really like to try your Sense Rom on my HD2 (T-Mobile).
Am I missing something? I have to say that I also tried using other Sense Roms and got the same problem. stuck on the HTC green screen or the Quietly brilliant screen and my system never loads!
Thanks for you help and keep up the good work.

Because this ROM very big so it need use many NAND space and SD-EXT Partition to store sytem and app.
App was moved to EXT partition but Dalvik cache still on NAND so you can move Dalvik cache to EXT to save more Internal memory (when you move Dalvik to EXT, you will have about 150-200 Mb free on NAND)

If you already have magldr, this is what you have to do:
1. flash recovery. this is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?f81pamq6fbjmtw5
(I've found this link here in the forum)
download it, then you have to modify this file: flash.cfg
you have to open it with notepad, but put an eye on NOT change permanently the extension ( it's .cfg, have to be .cfg)
once you opened it, you have to modify like that:
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 440M
cache ya 5M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize
-my english is not very good, if you don't understand PLEASE tell me and I'll explain it again-
save the changes, then go to magldr menu, connect phone to pc, search in your phone in magldr menu "usb flasher", run DAF.exe in recovery folder on pc, follow the guide. Your phone will reboot and go to magldr menu.
Choose "ad recovery".
2.wipe full data, and dalvik cache
3. flash rom: in ad recovery, choose "install zip from sd card", and select your rom
4. reboot
If someting goes wrong, please tell me

Yes of course, you can always change rom

if you want to change recovery partition, you only have to use notepad again and run daf.exe again... I think it's quite simple...

Just tried it. It looks amazing and exactly as I expected.
Only one thing that I don't like is that it is very choppy! as in when u click on something it takes few seconds to load or when u switch screens there is a lag or a drag as if there is not enough memory to run the command.
Anyway we can tweak the settings of the recovery to make it faster?
thanks again for all your help

Only one thing that I don't like is that it is very choppy! as in when u click on something it takes few seconds to load or when u switch screens there is a lag or a drag as if there is not enough memory to run the command.
Anyway we can tweak the settings of the recovery to make it faster?
thanks again for all your help

Yes, I experience it too... If you read my whole thread, I asked for some solution, but I think there aren't... Sense-based roms are slowlier than non-sense, hd2's hardware is perhaps a bit too old, but this is only my opinion... Have you read the thread in Nand development? I've tried some sense 3.0 rom, but I can say with no doubt this is the fastest...
This is the 1.1 release, next update will probably be better in speed... And I hope in camera and bluetooth fix as soon as possible... I'm pretty satisfied, for maximum sense experience, I think we should buy sensation, evo or other younger htc
You can try deleting some apps, if you don't use them, and look at task manager, it helps you stopping background apps, that can free ram memory...
Which kernel do you use? Most of people wrote in rom thread in nand development that jw-tytung is faster, and I confirm... All these things will help you, this is my opinion...
Hey there,
i'm using the HTC Bliss Rom for 2 days now and i think it's really great, but i have one problem, and it is significant. Everytime the display goes in standby-mode the connection gets lost. Even when i call somebody and put the phone to my ear, the connection breaks up immediately when the display turns itself off.
I really want to keep this rom, so please can somebody help me

[Q] How can I make my ext partition on my SD card bigger?

I have Android in NAND and I was running out of memory. So I made an partition on my SD. So that apps automaticly are going to install on my SD. That partition was 2GB. I use a ton of apps and within a week the partition was full. So how can I make that partition bigger WITHOUT losing any data?
Do a full cwm backup (titanium backup too, just in case)and also backup the fat partition of the SD card, reformat to desired size, then in cwm choose backup/restore, advanced - restore sd-ext, then restore your fat partition stuff too(important that bit, because there's android stuff on the fat partition too)
you can potentially just do a full restore from cwm rather than a selective sd-ext restore, but id try the selective restore first.

A little bit off topic, but what kind of apps are you talking about?
I have over 100 apps, and my 1GB ext partition is not even half full.
Are you sure it's 2GB ?

+1 - I have a fair number of apps including games and stuff, most of which are in my EXT partiton, and yet I have only used up around 350MB. Are you linking the libs files as well?Or did you create a smaller partition than you thought, as Marvlesz suggested (perhaps 256MB)?

When I want to get something like Facebook, Maps or Songpop it says that I have not enough space those apps are around 10mb. When I go to settings it says that I have 28mb. But if I want to get something big like Minecraft it installs it without a problem.

What is the script that you're using for the sd-ext? Are you using link2sd?

You have to flash an a2sd script that suits your needs
EDIT:
Sorry, my fault. I know you're going to ask "what is that" and "where do I get it".
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124
I (just) hope that you will find all the information you need there.
Ohh, and before I go, don't ask us which is the best, there is no best .
And the one I'm using is this : INT2EXT+
Good luck

I installed INT2EXT+ and it f*cked up my rom. When I boot up I get only force closes. So it made my phone unusable. Had to flash my rom back.

Most of the scripts have to be flashed right before instalation of the rom.
So flash a script in a rom with all the apps already installed is not a good idea.

flash the script BEFORE the rom?? that would be a neat trick to see.
@op, i use int2ext+ with the aokp jb rom from that thread, , flash the rom, let it set up, (dont bother with for example google account details and what not, just let it set up till you see the desktop).reboot, flash the script(you HAVE created teh ext partition already right? cos this script doesnt create it), reboot, then install your apps and data and such .

Why don't people use the thanks button?
Start from page one, and press the "Thanks" button for everyone that helped you (or even just tried to), yes, including me.
That is better than saying "Thank you" a million times.
