Im using mdejay gingerbread on my phone.. but my phone's battery is draining fast. Which radio is the best for HTC hd2 running android. ?

for my opinion, almost radio versions are same. The problem is that how did you config your phone. Just disable 3g in mobile networks, uncheck all automatic update, background apps...I used to face problem like you, but now is ok. So try to do what I did above. Good luck.

I get excellent battery in MDJ's build so it must be something what you have installed or have enabled.
There is loads of ways to improve battery life and plenty of topics about it.
Thee people on they other end of my calls always complain about loud static whenever I use my bluetooth. I can hear everything clearly on my end though. As soon as I've switched off of bluetooth, the static goes away. I've tried this on different bluetooth headsets with sesame problems.
I've also tried being on the receiving end of the static. I tested it with someone else's mytouch 4g and their bluetooth. Same problem. All bluetooth headsets used in this test were also tested with other phones without any problems.
It seems the problem is consistent between several mytouch's.
I'm using stock tmobile firmware.
Anyone else notice this problem?

Try using a new OC kernel with a new bt stack built in. I recommend Faux123's kernels.
I'm on stock rom and he has done a lot of updates/upgrades with his kernels.
My Motorola Finite sounds great.

correct
i kan haz 10 char?
So the bluetooth issues are due to slow software. Are oc kernels different from running apps like setcpu? Are oc kernels built into roms like cyanogen? If so, how do I know which roms have what kernel?
I've read the all the stickies about rooting and roms, but don't know much bout the kernel level. I assumed the kernel was either 2.2 froyo, or 2.3 gingerbread.

No no no. The overclocking kernels are custom built kernels for the phone. Which many include different blue tooth stacks for improvement gains. It has nothing to do with the speed at which the phone operates.
the program SET/CPU only allows you to control the clocking speed at which the CPU runs at. SET/CPU in itself will not overclock the phone.
And to see what ROM what what Kernel read the ROMS thread and it'll be discussed.
Cyanogenmod 7 never got great wireless data in comparison to the stock rom, but it's to be expected as cm7 is AOSP.
Are there any roms that would get similar wireless strength? Maybe a pure sense rom or something (I really like it) The only reason I haven't used one like royalginger is because i saw that it's based on cm7... so basic features would probably work just as well as cm7.
Would also be nice if GPS worked well on said rom. It works fine in stock but once again, cm7 has issues with it.
I find miui to be the best. Wifi works great and my data speeds on T-Mobile network are as expected...but to each his own.

Evil 4G-HD. Data is solid and GPS works great. Plus you get the pure SENSE experience.
Wanna give my aosp 1.0.6 a try... I specifically tweaked for network performance. I just want some feedback

I'm not able to post in the dev section yet, but I noticed a couple other people having the same problem and I wasn't able to find a response. I'm running TDJ's darkside sense 3.5 rom and I have tried the beatmod bliss rom as well, but in both I am having wifi issues. I searched and couldn't find a response. I wasn't sure if it was radio issue and there is one that is recommended to run with sense 3.5 or if there is a fix out there. Every ten minutes or so it will lose connection to my wifi at home. I verified that the wifi is set to never disconnect and haven't had any issues with any aosp or sense 3.0 roms. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You must be having hardware problems or router issues. I'm on tdjs latest 3.5 and I have no problems with wifi. Nice and strong.
Go to your wifi settings and make sure sleep is set to never and performance is checked.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
I have both never checked for sleep and best wifi performance. I was running TDJ's MIUI rom and didn't have any issues and my wife's mytouch 3g slide is on a stock rom and doesn't lose signal either. When I searched the thread for his sense 3.5 rom I saw one other person describing the same issue I'm having. Not sure what is going on.
Have you tried reseting your router?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Tried that too. I'm thinking I might try flashing a different radio. I'm running the most recent but I know that TDJ suggests using panache radio with miui. Not sure if it will fix anything.

yes, try the panache radio. i've gotten VERY good results.
I flashed the panache radio and I'm still having the same issue. I guess it must be something else. Gonna try another route.....

I'll write it again (and again, and again...) :
Radio has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with WiFi.
WiFi is completely under kernel control. It's NOT in the radio, neither HW- nor SW-wise.
So I'm really thinking about installing cm7 as I'm tired of the sad battery life on the MT4G, however, I'm finding it somewhat difficult to weigh the other pros and cons of switching from stock. There are plenty of threads and videos on how to do this, and plenty that talk about speed, but that doesn't really help answer my questions about functionality unfortunately.
Here's the thing: There are certain things in the stock rom that I don't want to lose in the process and I can't seem to figure out what I will gain and lose by switching.
Here's what I know so far about switching:
- I will have a longer battery life.
- I will lose the genius button functionality, but I can install that separately, so no big deal. I use this for texting handsfree while driving - just connect an audio cable to my stereo.
- The bloat is gone.
Here's what I can't figure out:
- How does the homescreen function without sense? Does it look the same? Do I maintain the built in widget sets?
- Do I lose the quick settings option from the status bar?
- Will my phone still wake using the trackpad?
- Will all the major abilities and apps function normally? Specifically messaging, Google browser, long press shortcuts (ie send link to: X using Y app), alarms, camera, GPS?
Opinions, advice?

I suggest to move to one of the new non-T-Mobile Sense versions. Sense 3 or 3.5.
You'll retain the functionality that you want, gain some new one, most likely gain battery life, and won't lose the good sides of Sense that you're used to (widgets etc).
In the worst case, it's just a simple trial and error process - you can try different ROMs, and if you decide that stock suited you better than everything - you'll be able to install it, and probably even tweaked and customizable version of it.
I didn't know that there was such a thing. I don't mind losing the ”prettiness” of sense, I just need the functionality to be there.
Any rom names off the top of your head that I can look for?

Virtuous Unity Sense 3.0
Virtuous Affinity Sense 3.5
DARKSIDE SENSE 3.5
RCMix3D Sense 3.5
these are all the top Sense Sense ROMs for the MT4G.
Thanks, I'll take a look at those and see if they suit my needs.

Here's what I can't figure out:
- How does the homescreen function without sense? I don't even get this question. Does it look the same? Different types of Android look different from one another. Sense has its look. TouchWiz has its. Vanilla Android has its. Do I maintain the built in widget sets? If you go with another Sense ROM, then yes, you will most likely have more sense most ROM here now are 3.0 or 3.5.
- Do I lose the quick settings option from the status bar? In most of the aftermarket ROMs, you will gain more quick settings. Read about the ROMs offered here.
- Will my phone still wake using the trackpad? Most of the ROMs have incorporated this into the build.
- Will all the major abilities and apps function normally? Apps? Yes. Abilities? Depends on the ROM. Some have a few bugs, others don't. Camera seems to be a big issues on this aftermarket sense ROMs, but there's usually a fix somewhere in the thread for that ROM. Specifically messaging, Google browser, long press shortcuts (ie send link to: X using Y app), alarms, camera, GPS?
Opinions, advice? After market ROMs are smoother than stock ROMs and obviously have better battery life as you know. They have much more that you can customize depending on the ROM. After market ROMs are ALWAYS better than stock. So, have fun choosing. Personally, I'm on Core Droid.

I always end up having issues with sense 3.5 roms and won't recommend them to anyone. Vu 2.39 is amazing though. There is also some mysense roms out there that will look just like your stock phone, I can think of about 3 off the top of my head.

Least buggy and most reliable is cm7.1 stable. Vu 2.39 is awesome and of course my debloated stock mysense is great too. Best on battery is cm7 though.

i've been using virtuous unity 2.39 ever since it went to a stable build. it has good battery life (better then stock) and the performance is great if you like the sense roms. if not i would cay cm7 is also the other one that you should try
if you wanted to go throwback, you could use cm6. I always got better battery life on it than with cm7 back when i used it... try miui. theme it if the looks bother you.
