Hello!!!
I have a big problem with my omnia 7
From one moment to the other I have no sound: no ring tone, no alarm...
All the rest works ok.
I allready tryed severall roms stock and cooked and the problem remains.
Any sugestion?
Anyone have the stock rom for swiss orange?
Thanks
I am having the sma problem with my omnia 7. All of a sudden I lost the ring, message, alarm sounds. Other than that the phone is working normally. And also if I plug in a headset, i can hear the sound fine.
When I searched the internet some of the options for this problem are:
1. Headphone slot could be stuck somehow and so the phone thinks there is a headphone attached. Solution is to try to plug in and out a headphone jack in to the slot several times to try to loosen the slot. Didnt work for me.
2. I read in one post that a hard reset solved the problem. Didnt tried it yet, I dont want to setup the phone from the scratch. That will be my last option.
3. Somewhere I read about people going in to the diagnostic mode and adjust some audio properties like audio gain, speaker output vs. I am not sure if that will solve the problem.
4. Some suggest to send the phone to samsung for a repair. That is not an option for me, as omnia 7 is not officially sold in my country (Turkey) so there is no support for it.
I am still searching the internet for a solution, and will appreciate if anyone can up with one.
Thanks
Problem solved
I found a solution for this problem and posted it in another similar post. I am writing the same information here.
I was playing with some diagnostic codes from a website I found on the internet, I noticed there is a "Melody Test\Test External and Internal Speaker" which you can access by typing *#0289# while inside the diagnostic mode. While inside this melody test application I pressed the option 1. Speaker [L-R] ON and option 2. Receiver ON. I dont know which option did it but suddenly a ring tone started coming from the speaker.
I closed the diagnostic app and return to the main menu and now my ringtones, game sounds start working. Hopefully this will be a real solution not a temporary one.
Note:if it not listed in the app list, to get in to the diagnostic mode press ##634# from the phone pad.
Also note: I tried to post the link of the page which contains all the diagnostic codes of omnia but the xda forum would not allow me to post a link outside because I am a new user. The page i found was on wp7forum website
Thank you. Im gonna try.
Well...I tried your sugestions and only the 3rd worked. (after typing *#0289#, 2. Receiver ON)
But I have sound just until a new resart, then sound is gonne!!!
and with you?
You are right, after the restart the sound is gone for me too.
And also as "mrtnz" in an other similar thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546374) mentioned, probably this solution does not exactly activate the speaker on the back but re-routes all music and such to the front speaker ("ear piece")
I though this might be the solution, but apparently not.

Need help .... After i have discharged my Omnia 7 , All Sounds are gone , my mic is not working too !!!!
Any hint what it could be ?
Speaker fine - but no sound ?
Likewise ; my Omnia 7 does not give out a ring tone/sound.
I took it in to get a new speaker ; but when fitted, problem remains.
I can hear sound with earphones - but nothing externally -
I was told if I download an update ; it may fix the problem ?
The only theory the shop could give was that I had began an update when the battery was about flat ;
and somehow this may deactivate the external speaker/sound.
Thanks for the suggestion 'junior' - will try that ; however it seems apparently that was not a permanent fix.
As I am basically tecnicall challenged/OLD .... any easy/detailed instruction on how to get the ring-tones/sound back/on
would be appreciated.
Some improvement!

Following previous info ; I used the hash hash 634 hash code to access Diagnostic panel ;
I then tried star hash 0673 hash ; and got the mentioned sound L/R ON page -
By clicking/holding ON I have now got some sound comming through ;
Its not loud, although I have volume up full/30 - and dont know how long it will last ;
But at least proves its an software type fault rather than anything wrong with the actual speakers.

Hey guys.
All over sudden my sound is gone on my I-Mate Jam
When i make a call i can still hear other person talking, so front speaker is fine, but I have no OS sounds or no loud speaker sounds and no ringtone sounds when someone calls me. Is this all rear speaker issues? Can anyone tell me how to fix it? i think some connection is loose, because i shook the phone 2 min ago and sound came back, then disappeared again.
Please help.
Seek and you shall find
Hi some where in this board there is a description about the soundboard which is connected to the main board. It could be that this sound board connector is loose. Try to search for soundboard. I had the same problem some time ago.
Put some alcohol on the mini jackplug of the earphones, that came with the phone and repeat inserting/removing the jack. Turning the plug while inserting is also a good thing. Repeat this several times, and also reapply some alcohol after a few inserts.
This helped me with 2 Magicians several times. Seems to be a standard problem.
This should help
@ d0minar
Well, there are a few things to know before you go and test a solution. But if I am guessing it correct, you just installed a new BT Stack (you also call it BT Audio Headset Tool). So this stack has an option of automute, which once initiated, sends the device to mute forever.
The solution is:
Step 1: Go to Start > Settings > Connections
Step 2: Select the Bluetooth icon.
Step 3: Scroll to the extreme right where you find a TAB called 'Audio'.
Step 4: Uncheck the automute checkbox.
Voila! you are through I guess
I have a different kind of problem with sound. I droped the imate while its in case. Everyhting is fine and even there is operation system sound. But on the phone section, I cannot hear the other side's voice, while they can hear me clearly. I guess there is a connection problem with speaker on the top.
Is there anything taht I can do with software? I formated the device several times, after I got backup, but there is no change...
Any solution and suggestion would be good.

Hey all, im glad this site is up its been great finding what i can really do with my wizard!
here is he issue im having. the wizard has 3 different speakers and 1 microphone. 2 side speakers (used to play music, or speaker phone) and the 1 main speaker (used for hearing calls). none of the 3 work when im making calls, listening to music, alarms, or any of the "screen click" sounds and the microphone doesnt work on phone calls or note recordings. however, the one time the speakers do work is when i have an incoming call, i tried listening to see which speaker its coming out of and it sounds like all 3. the headphone jack still works so thats what ive been using. pressing the speaker phone button while on a call (that i cant hear) doesnt do anything, the UI doesnt show any change or switch to indicate its changed to speaker phone and the "speaker on" button doesnt change to "speaker off" like it used to.
originally i thought this was a ROM issue, i was using the manufacturer's ROM (cingular 8125, unlocked for tmobile service) so i followed the lovely tutorial and switched my phone over to the t-mobile 2.26 ROM. this had no effect, so I then upgraded to XDA's WM6 ROM and while i love this new ROM it still did not fix my sound issue.
im stumped, any help anyone can offer would be great. I wanted to post here before i crack it open to look at all the insides.
same problem!
I'm having the exact same problem! I just noticed the problem recently, when my phones alarm didn't sound. I'm running a custom cooked rom from mattk_r 318 kitchen, but I don't think the rom is the problem, as i am indeed still hearing sound from the head phone jack. I don't think the internal speakers are broken, as when a call comes, the phone rings, and the sound come out from the speaks as mentioned above!
Help!
dropped?
have you ever dropped your phone?
I have dropped mine a couple times and thats the only cause I can come up with. But this never seemed to be a problem until recently.
no major drop recently.
i havent really dropped it recently at all.and for some reason i dont think the hardware is the problem, because i tryed voice recorder, and it records my voice and i can play it
back through the headset.so that confirms that the mic and both spealers work (rings
when incoming call). i really dont want this to be the downfall for my wizard! is there
any key registry entrys for sound maybe that we could have a look at? btw my wizards a G4 if thats makes any difference.
please help!!
mine is a g3, if it were a software issue then reflashing should have solved it. right? i dont know enough about the internal workings of the wizard to know what a flash actually does.
?
Anyone have any ideas on what I can try?
Well, a flash is an OS upgrade/downgrade. It contains drivers, programs, registry settings, things of that sort. Sounds like your problem is hardware related, nothing to do with the OS itself.
I assume the warranty on that baby has already expired, so you're pretty much on your own.
Two options come to mind:
1. The obvious... buy another Wizard
2. The not so obvious... buy another Wizard with a broken screen and take all of its guts out and put them in yours.
A third option also exists... (ther's always a third way)
Mind you, this is for INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY! In no way do I condone the below mentioned method.
Get a new line of service with Cingular and buy the Wizard to use with it. Exchange their boards, swap the IMEIs using the Wizard Service Tool utility found on these boards, cancel the line of service and return the "new" Wizard.
Sound issues
I have had a similar problem but located my problem to the microswitch which is in the headphone socket. Might be worth trying pulling the headphones in and out a few times to see if it allows the microswitch to release (if that is the problem?)
Steve
The wizard is magic
Some how my wizard seemed to repair it self. Its sound is working again...i didn't reflash or do anything special....weird. I think its because the phone had a good vibrate....ive got one of those speaker docks for the wizard..i put it in there...got a phone call and talked and stuff...but while it was in there (with the mic plugged it) it vibrated alot...maybe that flicked the switch mentioned above?
weird..this phone never ceases to amaze me. I just hope it doesn't happen again... because it appears to be emerging as a problem as the wizards get older?
Keep up the good work guys!
LOL!!!!!!!!! its so simple and yet so amazingly smart
wow, Steve you are the most amazing person EVER!
I put the headphone piece in about 1/10 of the way and slowly made a swirling action as i slid it all the way in, clicked the start button on wizard and i heard the "click" for the first time in a month!
Thanks!
I tried different options to get my sound back, no luck so far
Problem started after using the headset-connector to connect it to an FM-Transmitter.
After reading this thread, my guess is that the "micro-switch" is in a wrong position. So I opend my MDA, but can't find any "switch" in that connector.
Is there some more info about that connector, a connection-diagram perhaps ?
what worked for me was inserting the headset jack in roughly, robbing each side of the headset jack to try to hit the "switch". that might work for you.
Yes!!! Thank you a lot!
I have the same problem, no sound in my speakers, just vibrate and sound in handsfree. I figure out that this micro-switch could be the problem, but I haven't know how to solve it. Thank you once again, I love my SPV!! and this community.
Fixed!
Woohoo!
This problem just cropped up for me on the weekend.
Thankfully it wasn't long before I happened across this thread.
About a minute of persistent jiggling the microphone jack did the trick.
Thanks!
Hello,
i seriously need help.
Until this morning, my X1 worked. Over the last few days I was playing around a bit with various TF3D options, etc. I should note that I did not touch the ROM.
Then suddenly my phone gave no sound anymore.
No audible resonse to a stilus click on the screen.
No sound from FM radio.
No sound from phone (neither ring nor can I hear the caller).
(Vibra alarm works when activated though)
When switching to speakerphone I hear a very soft static crackle when doing the switch. Just as if the speaker is turned on. But then - no sound at all.
No microphone function on phone (caller cannot hear me).
No sound via headphones on phone.
No sound via headphones on MP3 playback.
Everything else appart from sound works. Even the phone can make a connection when calling - you just hear nothing.
I tried a soft reset. Nothing - still no sound.
Then I tried a hard reset:
Obviously the hardware of my speaker is ok. Because when I make a hard reset, there is the "pling" sound to inform me, that I should calibrate my screen.
Then there is another "pling" when the message appear, asking if I want to get the automatic provider settings updated.
But afterwards - no sound at all in the whole phone.
Then I went to update the ROM, thinking I might have (no idea how, but you never know) done something to audio drivers. I replaced my German T-Mobile ROM with the prepared German ROM without branding from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446070
But still - same result as above.
Anyone got any idea?
Really nobody having any helpful comment?
did you try to change the radio??
I flashed a whole new ROM - same problem persists.
Besides: It´s not a Radio problem because system sounds and MP3 playback don't have any sound either.
Stating the obvious
Sorry to state the obvious but it sounds like the connection or the speaker module has gone. Have you recently tried the head phones on the X1? please see below link for a possible reason.

Hello Creamy-Goodness,
thanks for you input.
If there was somewhere a hardware switch for sound output to speaker or headphones (which I doubt) that is stuck, it would not explain why I have neither sound in speaker NOR headphones. (One would assume that depending on the position of the switch at least one of the two should work.)
Apart from that I only tried the headphones to troubleshoot the problem after I found out there was no sound.
Nevertheless interesting, that this happens to other devices.
Speaker module cannot have gone either. There is an audible system sound from speaker right after hard reset to inform me that I need to calibrate the screen - but no sound anymore afterwards.
I will try to have the device swapped next week.
reg. sound issue
I'm suffering from the same problem here.
it only freggin vibrates.

Usually there is a simple fix which involves replacing a DLL, but not in this case of course - unless that ROM includes the bad DLL. I seem to remember it was a problem which occured after installing TF3D, but I couldn't find anything when searching just now.
It might be worth you checking the ear-speaker sound (make a phone call), as there is always the possibility that sound is being re-directed or intercepted (by something like Troca2). Check what programs and services are running.
Tests should be done with a known-to-work-fine-ROM of course.
Okay, I finally got the original ROM to flash the X1 back.
And strangely - when after one week of not using it I turned it on again to flash the phone, I got my sound back.
I have absolutely no idea what happened and why, but I am glad that I do not have to send it back.
@k_ash82
What I did is:
Turned my X1 off (not just stand-by), really off.
Waited one week.
Switched it on again.
I had my sound back.
No idea why, but maybe that works for you as well?
Just try it and please post your experience.
It would be very kind of you to share the german t-mobile stock rom with the community . Perhaps it could be added to "Xperia ROM and Guides" Thread, too.
I have no sound sometimes with this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460190.
After switch off and turn on the phone again the sound is back.

i have original sony rom (no branding) and also the same problems
no sound after a while (sometimes when phone goes in standby, sometimes just without a reason)
cannot play any sound in no application (media player, core player, etc) also the phone ringing or sms sound is off.
but the most annoying thing is, i can make a call, the call goes through, but I can hear nothing from the called person.
sometimes it works when i switch of the phone and restart, but sometimes I have to do 4 or 5 restarts.
the phone is now 1 week old, an I haven't installed Touch3D or anything like that, because I made hardreset and left the original configuration on factory settings, just to make sure, that it's no software error.
anyone got a solve for this problem actually?
if I ask google, there are many people with this problem, but no solve found till now
i have an issue with the speaker too but not exactly the same as the one described above.
my speaker still plays sound but it is about 10% of the original volume when it is already set to loudest (you have to put your ear right next to the speaker to hear the sound)
after i re-flashed the rom, it worked normally for about half a day until the problem returned
can anyone please help??
i keep missing my calls ><
thanks
this is a well known issue on some X1 phones ! you cant fix this with any software-update because it is hardware related. some x1 phones have it like every 2 weeks, others 3-4 times a day. most of the time you can just reset your phone but this is not a solution.
you have to send it back to SE in exchange for a new one.
i called my provider (o2) and they delivered a new x1 _on the next day_ in exchange (they have a 48 hrs delivery/pickup/return service).
the new phone works just fine !

Hi there XDA!
I've been searching and searching to try to find a fix for these issues, without luck. So in my desperation i turn to you.
First issue:
When I call or receive a call, I can hear my own voice and my own sounds without any issues. However - the person calling or being called can't hear anything from my end.
Microphone loops back to front-speaker?
SOLVED!
No idea how the issue was solved, but somehow it now works as per usual
Second issue:
Back speaker doesn't work. Considering headset and bluetooth headset works, I've been thinking that considering its a mechanical function that registers if a headset is plugged in, this is stuck.
Could it be any other issues?

Yup, been thinking about it. Just wanted to see if anyone else have had similar back/loud-speaker issues.
I have the same problem with my omnia 7. About two days ago, I completely lost the ring, alarm, message, game sounds. If I plug in a headset, the sounds are there.
And just today I experienced the microphone loopback issue the first time. I turn of the phone, remove the battery for a minute, insert it back and turn on the phone. The loopback issue was gone. May be it would have gone by itself if I waited but I was pissed of because the phone already lost all other sounds.
I was in and out of meetings and plane flights the day before I recognize the sounds are lost. So I switched the airplane mode on and of couple times, and switch between ring and vibrate numerous times. I wonder if that could have triggerred this problem.
I wonder if a hard reset or poking the headphone slot could resolve this problem.
So i have no solution yet, and hope someone will come up with a solution.
Thanks
Problem Solved

Good suggestion! Although, from what I can hear, that re-routes all music and such to the front speaker ("ear piece")?
I guess you are right. And also after a soft reset the sounds are gone again. Bummer

Update! Now it is working
Hi all,
For the last couple of days I have been searching and reading eveything I could find. And today I messed around with the sound diagnostics tool, plugged in and out a headphone jack probably hundred times but nothing worked. So I gave up. But i forgat to turn off the Music that was playing on the background while i was messing with the phone so that if it started working i would know.
My phone was in my pants pocket, and while i was hanging my pants, the phone slipped and fell on the carpet. And suddenly a loud music started playing. The music i set to play before. And now everything is working fine, all sounds. Even after soft reset.
So maybe it was the stuck headphone slot after all, i dont know.
But now i am afraid the sounds will go again if i drop it again.
Had the same problem... wife said no ringtone. Due to the poor positioning of the power button and volume rocker on opposite sides of the phone, she had gradually turned the volume down, one point by one.
Think simple faults first!

I really wish my problem was that simple. There is something wrong with my back speaker. Some loose connection I guess.
Every now and then I realize the ring tones (and other sounds) are not working. And when I tap around where the back speaker is (back of the phone, top right) strongly with my fingertip several times, the sound is back again. Everyday I have this loop at least 10 times.
Hi to all guys!
I have an LG-E900...and some time ago i get the lg logo problem (stuck on it).
I warmed the Mother Board (the one that include sim/wifi/fm)...i solved that problem but now the speaker dosn't work.
I'll explain it better...
Is like there is always the jack put in the phone, infact if i put in an headset i can hear all.
If I get a call is all mute until I put the loudspeacker mode it's all ok, the phone switch the audio and the microphone&speaker works normally.
1) I've tried to warm again that mb but no result.
2) I've tried to unsolder the jack but same result. (I've soldered it again)
3) I've search on the motherboard something wrong but it seems all ok....=(
So now i'm asking to you all what should i do to solve this problem...
I was thinking...There is no way to modify the phone registry through the MFG for switch definitely the audio on the speaker (or for disable definetly the audio-jack, losing this feature) ?
P.s.
If i go to MFG-> Engineer menu -> Device test -> microphone test and try the microphone, and after that I'll go to try the sound test, the speaker turn on and work until i receive a call or put the phone in stand by.
So i think there is something OR on the O.S. or some faulty fuse....
Anyway some help? Any solution or try will be appreciete =)
Thanks in advance for the answers and greetings from sicily!
