I accidently charged my u8800 through a 12v car charger.
After that phone shut down.
I restarted it. it worked and everything worked accept charging.
All I came to know that the power IC is gone.
I need a board for my phone I guess. Or someone dead phone
Any help in this regards will be appreciated.

What he said. I just looked on taobao and you can buy one for 350 RMB plus shipping. Shipping really shouldn't be that much, and the repair is pretty easy. The repair book is on this forum. If you need someone who can speak Chinese to help you negotiate, let us know.

after that on pressing the power btn to wake up screen dose not work.
but the power btn is only ably to turn on the phone every time i reinsert the battery after every screen turn off.
i tried to modified build.purp for wakup up the screen from volume key press but it also dosent work.

I got a used wizard today,it is a few weeks old I also got a cradle with it.
I pluged in the cradle to the USB port and the charger to power, after playing with it for 1-2 hours I placed the wizard on the cradle to charge and after a few mins i noticed that it was over heating. I removed it from the cradle right away and noticed that the battery was droping 1% every minute or so. After it was down to 27% i removed the charger and left only the usb connection and placed the wizard on the cradle again. it was charging fine, when it was up to 90% removed it from the cradle and again was droping fast.
When it was down to around 25-30% of the battery I did a soft reset and since then I can never get it to start again also the red charging light does not show.
What the heck is wrong with it? I also get a light burning smell from the bottom of the wizard where the connector is located.
Any help?
I need your lights guys.
Don't like the sound of the light burning smell, that sounds like an electrical fault. It looks like your battery has died and the wizard battery setup is well known to do this. You need to plug it into the official mains charger (not the usb one) as this has an output of 1A, enough to kick start the wizard battery into life and start the charging. You need to wait a short while though before the light comes on. If this fails try to get a new battery and try that. Any more light burning smells and it needs to go back to the supplier.
I would suggest that you send it back to replace/repair. The rapid dropping of the battery power suggest that it is using power somewhere (illegally). I've heard cases of battery caught on fire, etc. and I won't suggest you to use it anymore until you sort out the 'burning' smell.
First of all thanks for your replys.
I pluged the charger on it and the red charging light came on after a while.
charged for over 6 hours and its still red? I think after been charged should change to green? right?
anyways after all that still doesnt want to turn on. I got it to start a couple of times but only to the point that shows the splash screen with the rom numbers and then it turns back off.
Should I give it a smash across the room on the wall? done that with some other things and worked just kiding.
Forgot to add that up to the point when i did the soft reset the device was working fine except the charge drop. Soft reset was done while it was working ( turned on)..... if thats any help.

That ain't gonna do jack sh1t to it. If it can't start to get into bootloader, it can't flash....and it's not a flash issue.
Usually the red light means power but not charging - happens to my qtek 9100 when I let it get too flat and I have to remove and insert the battery while the mains adaptor is attached - others have to 'jump start' the battery by directly connecting to a PSU - I wouldn't do this with yours.
From what you have said it sounds like a short somewhere. Any signs of water damage? Warranty? What Wizard do you have and what country are you in?
Richard
I got the wiza 200 O2 xda mini S from a guy in UK from ebay. The idiot sold me a cradle for it with an adaptor that says 12V on it (Like an idiot that I am i just noticed that) but then again how am I supposed to think that he gave me an adaptor that its not made for it when it says on the back of it "for Imate - Kjam". Do you guys think thats what burned the **** out of the unit ?
dont forget that some times turns on shows the ROMS numbers and turns off.
No water damage... I think its on warranty... I live in Greece.
Might not be the cradle - it could be it steps down internally to 5v. Use a meter and check what it outputs to the phone. Warranty with XDA's are 2 years to the *original* purchaser. As they are only supplied with an airtime agreement then that isn't you.
Richard
have you tried changing batteries to a new one? Seriously, thats the easiest thing you could do right now and you could actually get results.
Ok this is what I did.
Removed the baterry from the device,
got a 12V 1 Amp power supply that I had lying around and give it a few shots connecting it to the battery giving it an electro shock.
(If you're going to try this be very carefull.<<<< DONT LEAVE the power supply connected to the battery>>>> just give it a few shots 1 second on and off.
That was it.
It started working, device turned on and now its charging (I think) yellow light is on.
I'm going to leave it on for a few hours and see what happens.
Wish me good luck. I'll let you know soon.
ok... this is what happend.
Battery is drained and its not charging due to a blown fust on the main board.
I open the phone and placed and solder a little wire over the fuse.
Still does not charge. ^%$#%$#$^%$*
Before I replaced the fuse or should i say short it the yellow light would come on for a few min and then red again. Now when I charge the battery with another external power supply the pda comes on for a few mins and then dies again. ( no charging light whatsoever).
Does anyone know where to get a mainboard for it and about how much it costs?
Asking for help again.

Hey man, sorry to hear about that.
The best you can do is to claim your money from ebay.
You probably killed it when you pluged in the 12V PSU. That's 230% of the normal Volts! Otherwise sell it for parts.
I'm in the process of claiming the money back from the IDIOT that sold it to me.
Lets see if that part of Ebay works as good.

Not a good idea IMO as now the blame is on you as previously he may have been able to get warranty service from the original vendor.
Richard
I did ask.
He is not the original buyer.
what was I suposed to do.... track back 2-3 buyers to find the original... send it to him so he can have it repaired? Anyway it was out of warranty because of the burned fuse that says that some other charger was used with it.
I had a similar thing happen but fortunately not as bad as yours. Twice now my battery has mysteriously drained completely. The last time when I tried to turn the unit on, it flashed the boot screen for a couple of seconds then poof, no more juice. When I plugged it into the USB port, nothing, no lights, no charge, no recognition from Activesync, I thought the unit was fried. I use Tmobile and got to admit they did send me a replacement fairly quickly. Before I packed up my unit I thought maybe I should plug it in using the wall charger and presto, it came on and is working fine. I have no idea what causes this but do know that if the battery is completely discharged the USB port can not over come this to put a charge on.
Same thing happened to me, kind of strange though. The charge was perhaps 70% to the best of my knowledge. I flashed it with Mr. Clean ROM and booted it up.. it came in fine into WM5, then it started the installation of the 3 progs or whatever comes with Mr. Clean.. after the second finished the unit just died *poff*. Screen blank, no responce to power buttons or any other buttons for that matter.
I've tried taking out the battery for different intervals of time, no luck. I've tried using the AC charger, no luck. No lights, sounds, telepathy or matrix ****.. it just lies there like a dummy phone.. hmm what to do. Bought it from a guy in UK (im in sweden) on eBay, don't think I will have much luck there.. even though it's brand new...
Any thouhgts?
I have had this problem - I bought a replacement battery and all is now fine. Another thread in this group states that the battery cannot charge without the OS up - so if the battery is completely discharged then it is impossible to charge through the phone. The only solution seems to be somehow to charge the battery directly - as appears to have been done earlier in this thread.
Chris
p.s. if anyone knows of another way to do it I'd be interested to hear as I'd like to revive my old battery and keep it as a spare
Hello i have a htc elf0100, and suddenly he doesn't charge anymore nore start. It's completely dead, i already tried a new battery and i even charged the battery with a battery charger. I have measured the contacts of the phone when is connected to a charger and i have 4,7V wich may indicate that the power of the phone is ok. But in fact it doesn't power on. Does anybody know what might be the problem
Mainboard
Is it possible to buy a mainboard for the htc elf0100, and if so where can i buy it and how much will it cost?
Have you had any further luck with this problem?
I have a bought a Touch which appears to be suffering the same problem.

I tried repairing mine but no luck. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong inside it. Actually I had just finished refurbishing mine and for 2 days I was admiring its brand new white covers... Then, all of a sudden, the mobile turned off and doesn't respond to on/off,resets,chargers ever since. I am also guessing that my CPU must have been destroyed... :-(
I solve this problem whit the rework station, you need to heat the board, like 2 minutes in 400 Celsius, tried to don`t burn the conectors and the stikers.
Yesterday, after 2 months, it accepted the chrarger (led on) for... 1 second and then it started booting (for 5 seconds) but died again...
Wow! It responded again! This time it turned on and stayed on in bootloader! So I flashed it, and it WORKS!
So my tip is: every time you try to turn it on, always try in bootloader mode. So if it turns on, at least you will be able to do something!
Hi papajohn
how did you get it to turn-on again?
mine's dead no power response at all, completely dead, no tricolor, no white screen, no response to hard reset, can't enter bootloader, no orange led indicator when plug into power supply.

Hey sorry if this is not where it should be but my power button started to really become quite "laggish". Takes like 5 presses to wake my phone and turn off the screen. I flashed Miui Rom on my phone with a random Buuf theme. Never had the issue before but when i tried to reflash the rom I noticed in recovery i had a difficult time to select options because of the power button. Is this common for anyone else? Is there maybe a fix out there that people have done?
It's common and eventually it will stop working. My first N1 lasted six months before the power button stopped responding.
Have fun sending it in to HTC for repair. When I sent mine in they claimed the screen was broken and held my phone hostage for $116.
I've had my replacement for another 5 months and the power button is starting to get flaky again...

Are you under warranty? I just replaced a Nexus One under warranty for the same reason and it went very smoothly. If not I here you can send it for repair but I am unsure of the cost. I have heard reports of people getting a digitizer repaired for around $120 so I would imagine a power button replacement would be that or lower.
Trackball wake is your friend. Also if it completely breaks you can wake the screen by plugging the phone into a USB port. You can boot the phone by plugging the phone into a USB port and removing and reinserting the battery and the USB cable in different orders. I have done it many times but I can't seem to figure out the exact order.
Good luck!

Thanks for the Ideas =] btw anyone have any other idea in terms of what would be a good replacement phone to purchase?!?
This is why I've used track ball wake since owning this phone. It shouldn't be this way, but why risk it with all the failures we've seen. Crosses fingers.
My Power button seems to be doing the same thing but I was blaming some of the custom roms I've been using. It only does it some of the time. Just seems to take a few seconds to wake up.
I just tested and continuously hit the power button and had a 1-1 success of turning the screen on and off. Is this the same for you or is it always flaky?
Warrenty is up my power button is barely responsive. Using touchball for now

I don't think there is an app that will let you boot the phone with the trackball, but as I stated earlier in the thread you can boot the phone without using the power button (if it breaks completely) by plugging the USB cable into your phone and then removing and reinserting the battery and the USB cable in different orders. I am not sure of the exact order but I have done it many times.
I'm glad it isn't just me :/
I have to sell the phone before it completely stops working then .. lame.

Hi!!
I was updating my phone and my pc just shutted down in the middle of the update... the phone just hung there... after 1/2 an hour i decided to turn it off.. and it never turned on again... it doesn´t even show the charging battery....
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
Remove battery wait 5 minutes and try to go to download mode and flash phone again.
Agree mate, pull battery I'd leave for a good half hour. As long as you can get it into download (power on holding volume down and home buttons) then you can re-flash using ODIN.
it doesn't do anything.... 1/2 hour without battery... and still nothing...
any other idea?
OK, try this:
1. remove battery
2 (tricky a little bit): keeping the download buttons pressed, insert the battery
another option is to use jig, but both above options are promising only if your bootloader survived....
definitively bricked! nothing worked... so tomorrow i'll take it to my carrier and play the dumb blonde to see if they can do something ( it is still in warranty, but here in venezuela it doesn't mean much) so.. i´ll cross my fingers and wait... thanks everybody
Just let us know how it ended... wish you success with them.

Great for you, probably your phone did get an overcharge that killed the board. Thi is why many people use laptops to make flash roms.
Thanks for info.. I didn't know USB can overcharge the phone..
So if I put in the surge protector for my pc, it should help protect the phone too right..?
I don't think, it can be overcharged by USB. These phones have system, that will turn off charching once charged. I have never been checking whether my phone is already fully charged and have never problems with overcharging

Hi to everyone,
I bought my S4 in Germany and I live in France.
My phone, after 10 months started to exhibit strange behaviors:
- Turning off and then turning on by itself
- Turning off and then not turning on, so I had to remove the battery, reinsert it and it then vibrates and turns on for few seconds and then it turns off again
- Sometimes it is able to turn on and it worked
So, I sent it back to the reseller (it was not amazon directly). They told me it presented traces of water and they repaired it on goodwill even if the smartphone should not be repaired because water is not into warranty.
Anyway they sent it back to me, it worked for 1 month, and now I have a phone that doesn't turn on anymore. I told them, they told me it is not their problem and it is not anymore in warranty because I had ONLY one year of warranty (I bought it 'as new' on amazon). Anyway they sent me a new battery and I tried the battery on another S4, it is working, so the battery is not the problem.
I went to an authorized shop to get it repaired but they told me that they wanted crazily expensive money. So, I am a robotics engineer, I decided to repair it by myself and that is why I am here.
I want to ask you what could be the problem. I read until now 2 possible reasons:
1) The power button is faulty. In this case is there any way to connect the contacts the button connects with an hard connection?
2) The USB board is not charging the battery. I tested with a multimeter and the + - voltage on the battery was always around 2.62/2.64 V. I don't know if this is normal but I checked that the part is not expensive.
Thanks a lot for your help.
The USB board isn't expensive but I don't believe the USB board is the problem here. Lithium batteries come partially charged when new, so if the S4 didn't turn on after putting the new battery in it, then the only remaining issue is the power button. Buying a replacement power button should be just as inexpensive as that USB board. Plus, being a robotics engineer you should have basic knowledge of soldering, meaning you could replace the button yourself.
It does sound like a power button issue.
A set of 4 buttons is about 5 dollars on the internet.
I'd recommend opening the phone up and checking the power button with a voltmeter.
If it is the power button, then simply replace it. It doesn't seem hard. Here's a guy with a power button issue. You can see where to check and how to replace it.
Thanks. I will try with the voltmeter. Thanks a lot.
So, I unmounted everything and tested the power button. I am quite sure it is faulty. ( I will be 100 % tomorrow because I could test only with a really bad multimeter) .
Anyway I have a question in the meanwhile. Is it normal that the red charging led doesn't show up when I connect to the power supply ? I think it could be possible that the faulty button induces a problem like that but I would like your opinion about it.
Thanks.
I don't think the power button would affect the LED. A friend had a problem with the power button, but I don't think it cause any problems with the LED. I haven't noticed. But my friend would've noticed if there was any and would've told me, which wasn't the case.
I tested with the GOOD multimeter and it happens what it is showed in the video you posted me in a previous post.
The button has 3 pins:
pin1
pin2
pin3
If I check for continuity between pin2 and pin3 there is, as it should be in a working button.
If I check for continuity between pin1 and pin2 there is, as it should NOT be in a working button.
Having continuity on both checks means the buttons is continuously pressed. So I guess you will have to change it.
Yeah, I know. I already ordered it. It will arrive on Friday.
What I was wondering is if this could give also the problem of the LED. What do you think?
I removed the button. I placed the battery in the phone. Put the charging cable. But nothing is happening. This looks strange to me because without button it should at least appear the battery icon. What could it be ?
Thanks
Maybe your phone bootloader is so old that it came to a situation where samsung's signing for this bootloader version has expired then ABOOT doesn't allow you to boot.
Just a suggestion and nothing else.
But this could be else used by samsung to force you update your phone.

Not if the circuit isn't complete. The button completes the circuit, which would explain the lack of any indicators.
