Help!!! i bricked my phone!! - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi!!
I was updating my phone and my pc just shutted down in the middle of the update... the phone just hung there... after 1/2 an hour i decided to turn it off.. and it never turned on again... it doesn´t even show the charging battery....
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

Remove battery wait 5 minutes and try to go to download mode and flash phone again.

Agree mate, pull battery I'd leave for a good half hour. As long as you can get it into download (power on holding volume down and home buttons) then you can re-flash using ODIN.

it doesn't do anything.... 1/2 hour without battery... and still nothing...
any other idea?

OK, try this:
1. remove battery
2 (tricky a little bit): keeping the download buttons pressed, insert the battery
another option is to use jig, but both above options are promising only if your bootloader survived....

definitively bricked! nothing worked... so tomorrow i'll take it to my carrier and play the dumb blonde to see if they can do something ( it is still in warranty, but here in venezuela it doesn't mean much) so.. i´ll cross my fingers and wait... thanks everybody

Just let us know how it ended... wish you success with them.

hi! today i got my sgs back, they told me that the logical board was replaced...
so i think that once the bootloader is dead, not even the samsung people can bring it back..
so.. from now on... i'll do everything with a ups or in my laptop to avoid any shutdown..

Good to know, thanks for the warning.

Great for you, probably your phone did get an overcharge that killed the board. Thi is why many people use laptops to make flash roms.

Thanks for info.. I didn't know USB can overcharge the phone..
So if I put in the surge protector for my pc, it should help protect the phone too right..?

I don't think, it can be overcharged by USB. These phones have system, that will turn off charching once charged. I have never been checking whether my phone is already fully charged and have never problems with overcharging

I know you've posted elsewhere, but it really helps if you tell us your phone model, if its G3/G4, what the IPL/SPL was before the problem started, etc...
Unfortunately, with the little info you've provided, I can't say for sure what has happened, but on first blush that sure sounds like a brick.
I would suggest you take the battery out of the phone, then press and hold the power button for 10 secs (this should discharge any remaining power) and leave the battery out for 30 minutes (might be excessive, but lets play safe). Don't plug it in and don't do anything else with the phone.
Now, after 30 mins pass, then put the battery back in and plug it into the wall (not your PC, but the wall). Again, don't do anything else. Don't press the power button or anything. If the phone acts like its trying to turn on, then turn it off. Let it sit plugged in to the wall for about 10 minutes. The charge light may or may not come on. If it does come on, then just leave it. If it doesn't come on, then try turning the phone on. If it comes on, then leave it on for 30 mins then turn it off to let it complete the charge.
If none of this works, I suspect you either have a dead battery, or your phone is a brick.

right phone is a G3 is was running the IPL/SPL of whatever buttons ROM has, as i said it hung like it's done a couple of times before when i tried buttons ROM but the other times i've just got into the boot loader menu and re-flashed and away i go, i'll try the battery thing in a fue mins, the battery was showing no signs of going bad was holding charge fine do the batteries just go like that? if it doesn't turn on would i be able to send it back to t-mobile as it's still in warrenty could they fined out it has a custom rom on it i.e is there away to say look at the rom on another peace of equipment to see if original or not, don't know if that makes sence.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr was going to stay with the wisard love rom i kinda liked it, wish i had now
thanks for the info
Just out of curiosity, but why did you go back to the Button ROM? Once you CID Unlocked, you are done with that process. You can flash official 2.x and custom roms to your heart's content and not have to go back to the Button ROM again. Only time you ahve to do CID unlock again is if you do go back to 1.xx IPL/SPL for some reason.
Good luck, I hope that works for you. As for warranty, but doing any custom stuff you void your warranty, but if the phone won't come on at all, then I don't see how they will know (not like they are going to pop a chip out and look to see what's on it).
And no, I wouldn't think the battery would just completely die under normal use. You usually start noticing it can't hold a charge first.
Could be this is a hardware issue, but really hard to say.

looks like i've bricked it lol
Sounds like it could be the battery, in some cases it will fully discharge (e.g. when shortcircuited) and then can no longer be charged in any regular way. You can try this:

i have to same problem, but the batttery was fully charged when i was flashing. so it should still have more than 80% battery, so y it doesnt turn on any more?

G1 crazy problems... could use assistance! lol

ok so I have a G1 and since the ota of 1.6 it has been acting weird... it used to only say low battery even when fully charged and then die (no matter what battery I had in it) now it won't load past the ANDROID blue screen then shuts off... and that's if it'll even turn on!
I tried leaving it on the charger and got nothing... I tried safe mode (which works fine) and wiped handheld and installed all the root stuff and try to reboot from there but same thing... steel blue ANDROID for maybe 5 minutes then LED flashes red and shuts off
Also tried bootloader (camera+power) and will say battery voltage too low charge or replace battery, but no matter how many fully charged batteries I put in it it says the same thing... even if it's charging...
So I'm at a loss... IDK what to do anymore... please help if at all possible :\
they say these can't be bricked, but this is ridiculous!
seriously guys... please help me figure this out lol... if you want a challenge this is it! I wish I had someone to take it to or to ask advice in person, but I'm actually the techy guy at work so I never have anyone to turn to
bad battery or hardware failure. try a new battery, if that doesnt work, warranty the phone.
so since i've tried numerous batteries it's probably a hardware failure and I should buy one with a broken screen and replace the motherboard or what?
you can try that, but i'd advise against it. my recommendation would be to ship it to HTC and let the pros fix it, because if you screw it up trying to replace parts yourself, they wont take it back.

nexus s won't turn on

phone was connected to a charger min. 3 hours, because, as I received the packagefailed to activate. After charging the battery is still no response to pressing the powerbutton
Update:
phone after referral to the seller, I received a link to the movie on which it runs normally. Both I and the seller used the charger from HTC DESIRE / NEXUS ONE

yes ,and I try with 3 other chargers
Press and hold power button, then press and hold the volume up key for a few seconds.
Does anything happen?
You bought this from a private party?
You've actually, personally, seen this phone turn on? I skimmed over the video you posted, but wasn't sure what the point of it was.
try a different battery
try going to best buy... and saying "My phone is F'ed up new one please .....well thats if u were smart enough to get a warranty?
I've got similar problem!
I have my Nexus S for a 3 days - it's brand new. Last night i turned it off. It was about 50% charged. Today i can't turn it on. Phone is dead. What's wrong?
have yall rooted?
recently updated?
When i die i wanna be buried face down......so everyone that doesnt like me can KISS MY ASS.
Phone wasn't rooted. It had Android 2.3.2 update.
I got similar problem with my nexus s, it also won't charge, tried a different battery and charger still won't charge??? Tried to manually update to 2.3.3, problem still there. Also the unit gets very hot with short battery life.
from all the news i have heard about samsung screwing up updates you need to return it to the store for a replacement

What a crap!
Hi all...
I was messing up with root, and in one moment everything was fine.
But whenever I run in clockwork mode, there was a many errors... E:cant find misc - and stuff like that.
I tried to fix it with flashing a stock rom over ODIN 1.8
The process failed.
I took out the battery, and now the fone is dead - black screen...
I cannot turn it on... What's the problem, or is there a solution?

rooted mt4g, powerbutton doesnt work.. under warranty?

My rooted mt4g's power button just stopped working. So i couldn't shut it off for some time. i would reboot by going to terminal emulator, su and reboot.
Today i rebooted my phone and it didnt reboot properly...was stuck on the black screen so i had no choice but to pull the battery out, so now i cant turn it back on.
I called tmobile and explain the problem and said its still under warranty so they will send me a replacement, i only have to pay for shipping.
my question is that since i cant turn on the phone to bring it back to original rom/unroot. Do u guys think there is going to be an issue when i return the phone to them rooted with cm7? i dont want to get charged however much they charge for returning phones that voilated the warranty thingy.

Hmmm I see... Do phone's detect ADB while it's off? If so then that's you're only hope I'm assuming.
If all else fails then maybe you can just pop the phone in the microwave for a quick 3 seconds so that the phone wont boot at all. Now that's raking it to extreme of course.
Chances are that T-Mobile wont even check. But I guess its a risk. Because then it'd suck if T-Mobile did turn it on then find a custom ROM.

Lol yeah, that's an extreme answer but it would be very unfortunate if they decide to try and turn it on then find out it's been modded. I think they end up charging your account like 350 or whatever.
But IMO I honestly don't think they'll even go that far to check. But that's just my opinion lol. Either way, good luck man.
Pull out the battery.
Connect the USB charging cable.
Insert the battery.
Repeat several times until your phone turns on.
Might work.
tried it maybe like 4 times.. its what the tmobile tech support asked me to do.

Seems to work for me - insert battery while it's plugged in, if it doesn't turn on, battery out, battery in.
As for a software reboot - download the app Easy Reboot.
For HBOOT, try holding down the volume down key while the charger is plugged in, and insert the battery as above.

weird i just tried the battery on and off... still didnt work, the charge light just goes on and off as well... i do have an aftermarket charger, and im using the wall charger not the usb to computer... if that makes any difference..
Yeah I was using the wall charger too, but the one that came with the phone. The very first battery insert (followed by a 5 second pause) started the phone up. Strange. I have ENG HBOOT and ClockworkMod 5.x installed if that makes a difference.
i dont have eng hboot because my phone is already unlocked by tmobile, i didnt see a need for it. i have the latest cwm and latest cm7...

Just on a whim - I don't suppose that running a RUU.exe will provide a way to force the phone to turn on? Doubtful but worth a try.

[Q] mt4g flashing LED no vibrate no screen

Hey guys, Im trying to fix this mt4g for a friend.. It wont boot, I cant get into hboot or recovery, all it does is flash the LED. I have read post saying its because I was unsuccessful at loading bootloader, however it doesn't vibrate like the others are saying. I left the battery out for a couple hours along with sd and sim, also tried charging through the night... I cannot figure this one out, also, the computer will not recognize any new hardware or drivers. Is this phone bricked beyond repair?
I put the battery on my battery charger and let the battery charge outside of the phone now when I put the battery in the phone and plug it in to the computer, the red LED comes on and stays on, along with a red glow on the trackpad... Anyone know what to do?
Blinking LED is either the battery is charging to at least one percent, or you didn't press the right button combo to boot into bootloader. Power + Volume Down is bootloader, Volume up will give you three vibrates and a flashing LED, where you will have to pull your battery.
Thanks, I cant get the phone to do anything... I plug it in with the battery in, without pushing any buttons and the LED comes on and the IR trackpad light comes on... It wont respond to anything, no drivers popup.. Is there anyway to recover a bricked mt4g? Im new to it, as I have an Evo and have never had anything like this occur with all the evos i've flashed and rooted... If someone knows anyway to fix this feel free to give input..
Thanks everyone!
ya .. mine is doing the samething.
I just try to turn it on and I get one vibrate ... nothing else
I hit down and power and I get one vibrate .. nothing else
I hit up and power I get 3 fast vibrates and a flashing orange led ... I try to plug the USB here and I get 3 fast beeps on the comp
I hit up and down vol and power I get 5 fast vibrates with a solid green led and noting else... usb again beeps 3 times on the comp
neither will recognize the usb and I have reinstalled the drivers .. and of course none will work with adb either.
I think we are screwed really ... but maybe someone knows something i dont on this here. Thanks for any help.

ya .. no luck so far ..I have tried a lot .. different drivers .. HTC sync .. etc.
I have tried different button pushes .. usb ports .. wont work in adb .. nothing is doing anything.
all I hear thru my speakers when I plug it in is that damn the fast 3 beeps .. ike a "hell no go F yourself you arent connecting it"
and there isnt a lot of info online bout this .. other than some others have the same LED blinking and stuff .. I still dont know what the different LED modes mean.
so IM screwed .. BUT I am getting an LG G2X as an alternate exchange thru T-Mobile warranty though. goodbye mytouch 4G Hello to G2X AND Galaxy S II(bought) .. fun times!
I found a thread somewhere, not sure where but it said that if you cant get anything and the infra-red on the touch sensor is lit the phone is completely bricked!
Its not bricked. Somethign is wacky with the phone, mine has done it and thats why im trying to find out what the hell is going on. My phone acts like its completely dead. This post migt end up being really long.
Ok, i notices this, i used my phone as a wifi hot spot. Turned it off. Left my phone alone, i then put it on charge and went to sleep. Woke up looked at the battery, no color other than the lighting bolt. Unplugged it then went off. Pluged charger back in and orange led flashes. Tried to get into recovery nothing. Tried to power it on, nothing, tried the volume down and power, three vibrations. Ok then i decided to take out the battery in and out, didnt work, tried leaving the battery out for a few minutes, then put it back in, same. Took out memory card, sim card. Then plugged in the charger. Let it sit for awhile then it works. I notice if you dont use the orginal charger that may also be the problem. I dont have my orginal but i used a walmart charger and seems like a super charger and some how charged my battery enough to be booted up, i daily use a charger that i found with the same connection x-( , that could be the problem. I dunno what makes this happen but it happened to me at least three times. I kinda figure the battery or the emmc chip is involved, could be the hotspot, could be anything, but we dont have enough evidence to figure it out, ill try to post what my battery usage on here. I use cm7 and it only happens when i use it. I tried all other roms but no repeats. That was my story.

I have done all these as well, and still unable to get past the black screen, or acheive bootloader as well. I have even left the battery out for a couple of hours, and still no different. Going to try recharging the battery once more, and some other things.
As for adb it is of no help as of now. I keep getting an error saying no device found. Has anyone found a way past this yet, to try rebooting through adb?
*Edit*
After trying to replace files on the sdcard I was not able to get past this issue. Also spoke with tech support, and was not able to get anywhere with their help. After speaking with them, I have come to conclusion the is bricked. I still cannot figure out what caused the phone to do this I broke down and sending it out to be replaced. Thankfully I have the insurance so I don't have to pay anything for the replacement.
Apparently its not bricked cause I'm still using mine. Try a different charger probly a stronger one like walmarts. I think the battery has a fart and is messed up for a little when it doesn't have a good charge

I have done this, fully charged it twice, and no change for me. I am glad it worked out for you.
Its not bricked.
Download the stock rom, and put that .zip in the root of your SD card. Put it in, press Power + Volume DOWN and wait for the bootloader. Once it boots, it should recognize the .zip and ask if you want to update it, run the update and your phone will be at stock again. Then root again, install Clockwork, and hopefully you backed up your ROM. This won't effect S-OFF, but you will have to run VisionARY again to get root permissions to run clockwork.
Hope this Helps.
one more
I am too having this problem
just blink orange
can't access bootloader or any else....
I too had this problem not too long ago. My power button wouldn't work though... I just connected via USB to my computer with the battery out, put it back in while connected and it turned on. Maybe I'm just lucky but give it a try
