I know you've posted elsewhere, but it really helps if you tell us your phone model, if its G3/G4, what the IPL/SPL was before the problem started, etc...
Unfortunately, with the little info you've provided, I can't say for sure what has happened, but on first blush that sure sounds like a brick.
I would suggest you take the battery out of the phone, then press and hold the power button for 10 secs (this should discharge any remaining power) and leave the battery out for 30 minutes (might be excessive, but lets play safe). Don't plug it in and don't do anything else with the phone.
Now, after 30 mins pass, then put the battery back in and plug it into the wall (not your PC, but the wall). Again, don't do anything else. Don't press the power button or anything. If the phone acts like its trying to turn on, then turn it off. Let it sit plugged in to the wall for about 10 minutes. The charge light may or may not come on. If it does come on, then just leave it. If it doesn't come on, then try turning the phone on. If it comes on, then leave it on for 30 mins then turn it off to let it complete the charge.
If none of this works, I suspect you either have a dead battery, or your phone is a brick.

right phone is a G3 is was running the IPL/SPL of whatever buttons ROM has, as i said it hung like it's done a couple of times before when i tried buttons ROM but the other times i've just got into the boot loader menu and re-flashed and away i go, i'll try the battery thing in a fue mins, the battery was showing no signs of going bad was holding charge fine do the batteries just go like that? if it doesn't turn on would i be able to send it back to t-mobile as it's still in warrenty could they fined out it has a custom rom on it i.e is there away to say look at the rom on another peace of equipment to see if original or not, don't know if that makes sence.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr was going to stay with the wisard love rom i kinda liked it, wish i had now
thanks for the info

Just out of curiosity, but why did you go back to the Button ROM? Once you CID Unlocked, you are done with that process. You can flash official 2.x and custom roms to your heart's content and not have to go back to the Button ROM again. Only time you ahve to do CID unlock again is if you do go back to 1.xx IPL/SPL for some reason.
Good luck, I hope that works for you. As for warranty, but doing any custom stuff you void your warranty, but if the phone won't come on at all, then I don't see how they will know (not like they are going to pop a chip out and look to see what's on it).
And no, I wouldn't think the battery would just completely die under normal use. You usually start noticing it can't hold a charge first.
Could be this is a hardware issue, but really hard to say.

Sounds like it could be the battery, in some cases it will fully discharge (e.g. when shortcircuited) and then can no longer be charged in any regular way. You can try this:

Hi Chris,
Please eleborate/clarify your OP, because I don't think anyone gets this... At least i don't! You say the screen doesn't turn on but the phone boots?! How do you figure that? Your device is actually on because you can receive/answer calls!?! :S
Sounds like your device has just BSOD (Black Screen of Death) which is discussed quite a lot here. Just press reset button or pull the battery (please tell me you have tried that before...).
If your device IS NOT powered on, please try this:
Does the device vibrate shortly when pressing the End-button? If so you should leave it connected to the charger for longer. If battery has drained too much it takes a while for the device to allow it to power itself up (prevention of overdrainage, which Lithium-batteries don't like very much).
Do you charge through USB, or with the supplied charger? I've had this before trying to charge it with a (different brand) microUSB charger. Turned out most chargers only give out 500mAh, whilst my normal charger (and car-charger) give out 1000mAh i believe. That might help.
You can order a cheap replacement battery from China (i got mine with dockingstation), which is already charged about 60% (for storage purposes).
BTW if your problem is fixed, please add the prefix [FIXED] or [SOLVED] to your topics title.

i have restarted many times.
i use the wall charger.
but why would the phone boot but not turn on the screen or have the mic work?
remove your sd card and the battery. you may have to hit the rest button on the back after you plug the battery back in as well, but as long as you have the sd card out it should come back on. try plugging the phone into a charger and then remove the battery as well sometimes it'll wake it up so to speak. it's just a matter of playing with it. mine did the exact same thing and i freaked out for a little bit.
now if after all this it doesn't work and you've played with it for a while then yeah, best of luck to you =\. but whatever you do in playing with the battery and the charger, keep the sd card out until you can boot into winmo.
EDIT: never mind, i thought the phone wasn't booting. i misunderstood, but i went back and reread the original post. try reflashing your rom if you're in winmo and experiencing those issues. or take the sd card out and reboot.
i would suggest making an backup, as your phone turns on you should be able to estaplish a remote-connection with some (3rd-party-)software and do a hardreset.
if this wont work i would recommend setting it back to factory default (revert hspl if you have one and install stock rom) and send it in for warranty.
seems to be some major problem...
All this steps should be possible without screen turning on (working touchscreen may be needed for backup, but flashing doent need screen input)
if drive-mode is default for your usb connection and holding you from flashing you can do a hardreset and afterwards active sync will be default again and you can establish an active sync connection and flash
check if any of the pins that contact the battery are bended or broken, try to avoid removing the battery when you have to reset your hd2 because the pins are fragile
similar thing happened to me just last night!
I tried the jmz dual boot last night and I was nearly out of battery. I didnt look at any instructions I just installed it and restarted the phone to check out the new toy. it finally got done loading I chose android right away and I was walking towards the bedroom. when I went to see if android had fully booted and plug in the phone I had nothing! It was off. I decided that the battery must have died so I tried to turn it on and all that happened was the tmobile flash screen came up for a second and then it went right off, I got so desperate that I was going to do a hard reset but that wouldnt even work! the boot loader screen would just shut right off. I was suggested to try another battery we had at the house and bang it fired right up I took a wiff of my other battery and I dont know what happened but I think I let the magic smoke out cuz it is fried!

hello friend...i have a problem similar to this. basically when my phone is in android which i use alot if it dies in android, when i reboot it it will turn on for about a second to see my splash screen then turn itself off (the battery is obviously flat). so i plug my charger in and it stays on now but doesnt indicate charging....i boot it into windows mobile and the batt just stays at 0% but its still working. however once i unplug it it will die.....its like the battery is not in the phone. luckily i have two batteries and a dock which charges batteries, so i replaced the battery and everything works fine. once the battery that died in android was fully charged i tried it again and it was fine.................im guesing the moral to this story is dont let your phone die in android mode
I do notice my HD2 runs hotter while in android than while it runs in Windows.
I am not sure if that's an issue to this, which is why I never mentioned about it being hotter. Although my HD2 is noticeable hotter, it never gets to a point that I think I should unplug the USB due to overheating concern...
Just a few inputs from passed experience
I use TMOUS Stock 2.13.531.1 WWE ROM
2.12.50.2_2 radio (not stock)
k going to tmobile today to see if they have any extra batteries i can try.
then ill update
i went to tmobile. and while i was there i noticed the screen was turning on but very dim without backlight (barely noticable). but the rep helping me did not notice and i let it stay that way because tmobile is sending me a new refurbished phone as long as i send the old one (and the rep was totally cool he uses xda also and said they wont check my software and if they do they wont ask for the phone back). he also let me get insurance in case this happens again, instead i will just say its lost. so i basically killed 2 birds with one stone

Just keep it plugged in for 1-2 hours and then try booting in to try color screen bootloader and go from there.....
If you have MAGLDR installed then you can not charge the battery when the phone is off.
You should try to charge the battery using an external charger.
Edit: If you have a friend with HD2 and windows Mobile 6.5 then you could use the phone to charge you battery.
Wrong, you can charge it while it's off.

Wrong x2.
1. No one is fighting.
2. With new magldr, phone turns itself on when plugged in. Charging when off is not possible. The battery requires management which is only implemented in software. It may hold a small charge if you have magldr installed, but it won't charge fully, or properly. Also, it's not likely he's got the new magldr if he's returning back to windows.
Lastly, for the OP, what method did you use to return to winmo? And which winmo rom did you use?

Read? Phone turns itself on if you connect a charger. Phone has NEVER charged while off with nand. This way at least you don't have to pull the battery to turn the phone on.
Sent from my HD2 NANDroid using XDA App
Just in case: If you on same situation that described on first post try this:
Q: If you completely run down the battery, would you be able to charge it with the phone again?
A: If your battery is dead, press and hold Vol Down and plug in USB cable / charger at same time. Phone will boot into bootloader and charge there just fine. Leave for 20 mins, pull battery, reboot and charge normally. If phone has just run down, plugging in the charger will usually turn it on.
Its found on one NAND thread and goals goes to g.lewarne
Actually i was on same situation and this helped on first try.
check the connection between battery and phone , the metal things i mean.
Perhaps, it is off the subject, but...
Poster #1: why do you want to get rid of this beautiful phone?
Just curious...
ok i bought another phone and i took out the charged battery from it and put it in the bricked HTC and it does nothing. now i know it was almost reverted back and i think the battery ran down but Iam not completely sure but maybe it could have been in the reverting software i used and maybe it just like lock up or something cause at that point you couldnt see the battery indicator. now i guess ill just have to sell on ebay for parts but it would be cool to try and un-brick it or try and figure it out.

rooted mt4g, powerbutton doesnt work.. under warranty?

My rooted mt4g's power button just stopped working. So i couldn't shut it off for some time. i would reboot by going to terminal emulator, su and reboot.
Today i rebooted my phone and it didnt reboot properly...was stuck on the black screen so i had no choice but to pull the battery out, so now i cant turn it back on.
I called tmobile and explain the problem and said its still under warranty so they will send me a replacement, i only have to pay for shipping.
my question is that since i cant turn on the phone to bring it back to original rom/unroot. Do u guys think there is going to be an issue when i return the phone to them rooted with cm7? i dont want to get charged however much they charge for returning phones that voilated the warranty thingy.

Hmmm I see... Do phone's detect ADB while it's off? If so then that's you're only hope I'm assuming.
If all else fails then maybe you can just pop the phone in the microwave for a quick 3 seconds so that the phone wont boot at all. Now that's raking it to extreme of course.
Chances are that T-Mobile wont even check. But I guess its a risk. Because then it'd suck if T-Mobile did turn it on then find a custom ROM.

Lol yeah, that's an extreme answer but it would be very unfortunate if they decide to try and turn it on then find out it's been modded. I think they end up charging your account like 350 or whatever.
But IMO I honestly don't think they'll even go that far to check. But that's just my opinion lol. Either way, good luck man.
Pull out the battery.
Connect the USB charging cable.
Insert the battery.
Repeat several times until your phone turns on.
Might work.

Seems to work for me - insert battery while it's plugged in, if it doesn't turn on, battery out, battery in.
As for a software reboot - download the app Easy Reboot.
For HBOOT, try holding down the volume down key while the charger is plugged in, and insert the battery as above.

Yeah I was using the wall charger too, but the one that came with the phone. The very first battery insert (followed by a 5 second pause) started the phone up. Strange. I have ENG HBOOT and ClockworkMod 5.x installed if that makes a difference.
i dont have eng hboot because my phone is already unlocked by tmobile, i didnt see a need for it. i have the latest cwm and latest cm7...

Help!!! i bricked my phone!!

Hi!!
I was updating my phone and my pc just shutted down in the middle of the update... the phone just hung there... after 1/2 an hour i decided to turn it off.. and it never turned on again... it doesn´t even show the charging battery....
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
Remove battery wait 5 minutes and try to go to download mode and flash phone again.
Agree mate, pull battery I'd leave for a good half hour. As long as you can get it into download (power on holding volume down and home buttons) then you can re-flash using ODIN.
it doesn't do anything.... 1/2 hour without battery... and still nothing...
any other idea?
OK, try this:
1. remove battery
2 (tricky a little bit): keeping the download buttons pressed, insert the battery
another option is to use jig, but both above options are promising only if your bootloader survived....
definitively bricked! nothing worked... so tomorrow i'll take it to my carrier and play the dumb blonde to see if they can do something ( it is still in warranty, but here in venezuela it doesn't mean much) so.. i´ll cross my fingers and wait... thanks everybody
Just let us know how it ended... wish you success with them.

Great for you, probably your phone did get an overcharge that killed the board. Thi is why many people use laptops to make flash roms.
Thanks for info.. I didn't know USB can overcharge the phone..
So if I put in the surge protector for my pc, it should help protect the phone too right..?
I don't think, it can be overcharged by USB. These phones have system, that will turn off charching once charged. I have never been checking whether my phone is already fully charged and have never problems with overcharging

HTC HD2 does not turn on O.o

Hello, i bought an used HTC HD2.
It was all stock, so i put HSPL, then MAGLDR and WP7, and everything seemed to work well.
It happened then that the phone did some vibrations (4 or 5), then it shut off and i couldn't turn it on again.
I tried putting the battery out, trying pressing the power button without battery to discharge capacitors, and eventually i got it booting again.
Worked fine until yersterday, when it did the same strange vibrations, and then i could not manage to turn it on. I've tried everything, i put it on the fridge and nothing, on the freezer for a while D) and it started, but not enough time (i just need the time to do a flash from the SD, then i can send it back in warranty).
Any idea? Now even with the freezer method it's not starting at all...
I had an HD2 before and never had any problem, so i'm pretty sure it's an hardware fault, right?
With "doesn't boot", i really mean it doesn't start at all, i couldn't even get into bootloader.

Most likely your motherboard is faulty, you should go for warranty(if still possible)!
Probably it's so...
I should bring it to the warranty, but if sometimes it works, they can see that it has HSPL.
Its possible? At least i wanted to start it and flash the original NBH

You should try again the freezer trick, but keep it a little longer inside, maybe you'll be lucky one time...

Yes that's what i'm trying
One little push on THANKS button wouldn't harm anyone, isn't it?
lol you're right
the problem could also be getting compounded by a discharged battery, which isnt letting it start long enough to flash even when you freezer it.
If you know anyone with an hd2, try your battery in theirs to see if it has any charge, if not (or if you cant get a 2nd hd2) take an old usb cable (mini, micro, doesnt matter) cut the small end off, bare red and black, and hold red to + and black to - on teh battery for a few minutes. (while the phone is in eth freezer, perhaps) and see if it lets it start for longer.
If this helps, do the bare wires trick for say, 10 mins, and have leoimg.nbh ready to go on the sd card, and immediately start the flash.
Dont forget the flash doesn't need to finish, the spl is altered first, so within 10/15 seconds of the flash starting, hspl is gone and warranty restored.

At the battery poles there are 3.88V so the battery should not be empty, right?
According to my physics knowledge, battery could still not hold enough charge for a boot even though it shows some voltage.
yea, a battery would still show a potential difference even when its low enough not to start the phone, however 3.6v does seem a bit high.
Bent battery contact perhaps?
