Can anypony point me in the direction of an AOSP theme for 4.0? I don't particularly like how some developers skin Ice Cream Sandwich. I'm running Energy.

So what would be some great changes to see in the honeycomb ui or the up coming Ice cream sandwich... or what would you like to see?
- direct fileaccess from ui (no dl-app)
- full space usage on homescreens
- killing apps from app-switcher
Is there any remote possibility of seeing that operating system on our beloved x8? Thanks for the replies!
google said that ice cream sandwich will be available to gingerbread devices... x8 runs gingerbread (although unofficially), so i don't see why not. the developers just need to get behind it.
Hope it is compatible!!!
What are the new features that ice cream brings?

not real but hey who care's..
Firstly edit line of build prop.
enter android version 4.x.x (what ever you like)
Then build version to (ice cream sandwich)
Get a few download's.
ice cream music player, google2.0, ice cream launcher (the launcher can be found in this forum the games and apps section. also it brings quiet a few of the ics feature's)
and finally download a ICS wallpaper. clock and any other thing you could think of that is different to gingerbread etc etc..
and hey presto you cream'd your X8

I have a faster/better way to get Ice Cream Sandwich on our X8 device, simply go buy one Ice Cream Sandwich, eat part of them if you want, but... save a little to your device! Just put a little on top of your TouchScreen and voila! Ice Cream Sandwich on X8
lol good way to put it .. maybe i try it later. or maybe safer to skip ice cream sandwich and go to next version of android the JELLY BEAN
Guys, stop talking gibberish... That's simply spam.
Out of new, cute functions - unlocking screen with face recognition (requires front cam, but still, it's nice), stock launcher with resizeable widgets (so launcherpro plus will have to develop new functionalities to keep its position on the market ), google chrome compatible browser, inbuilt webguard (gathering data about your data transfer, with all the net-consuming apps!), lockscreen notification bar, photoeditor in camera soft, android beam (file transfer with mere touch of devices), and some other minor new features.
And since it's supposed to be ginger compatible, I guess we'll see a port for X8 as soon as sources are there for taking
I read somewhere that the minimum requirements to run ICS are 256mb of RAM and a dedicated GPU.
And I read that every device that runs Gingerbread will also be able to run ICS.
So let's wait and see what happens.

100% Agree with you
You wont get a official build, but there is noting impossible for the XDA developers Im one hundred percent sure they will bring ICS for x8.And thanks in advance!

This maybe true i read that too but more ram needed
also a function of ICS is face detection on camera...
apparently that will take alot of processing power...
i am sure my phone 4 year's ago could do that no problem whatso ever
Is there a possibility of increase the amount of RAM with a SWAP partition. So that could mean that we would be able to run ICS?

SWAP isn't as fast as RAM, so it will not get good results.
We also need a better processor. Our processor is a bit slowly for ICS i think.
And ICS is available at the Android SDK, is in the repository, you can now download it, and probably run a AVD machine with it, i will try and feedback.

oh, and i read somewhere that we need a ArmV7 processor for ICS. Probably it isn't true in mine opinion.
EDIT!: I downloaded through SDK the ICS and i'm running ICS on a AVD with X8 screen resolution

i have a nook color and i love it
when i first got it, i flashed cm7 on it, a few weeks later i tried honeycomb
now, i know honeycomb isn't very good so i switched back to cm7. but i stil want honeycomb for 2 main reasons:
1 its nice design
2. multi-tasking
i can easily get the design with launchers, but i want a good multi-task option like on honeycomb. one where, at any time, i can easily switch back and forth between apps.
is there a way i can do this??? ANY help would be appreciated
you should try the ice cream sandwich roms in the android development section. the unofficial nightly builds have become quite stable and i do believe it has the multitasking that you desire and the design too. plus its 4.0 which is newer than honeycomb. so good luck to ya!

Somewhere between getting stuck when coming back from an app and annoying keyboard issues within the messenger combined with the EOL status...
So what are the options people? I'm currently playing with Go Launcher and a Sense 4.0 theme, which oddly feels faster while being more customizable. I didn't care for the default Go Launcher theme it rubbed me wrong, probably the only part of Sense I still like is the icons and presentation of apps. Thinking about going to a rooted stock with custom kernel or a custom rom with custom kernel. I don't know, really confused right now

Love the hardware, not loving the software.
My personal favorite launcher is GoLauncher over Sense. Both Supreme Sense XII and newSENSE are great ROMs but I know what you mean. Here's what I did recently on Supreme Sense XII.

Well the Software is actually what gives you the Freedom to do whatever you want. It all depends on the combination of Rom, Kernel, and Mods you choose. Here are just a few Themes and Skins I've Ported, or helped with .
Wow Prboy1969 those are prety awesome! Is it possible to get the dock in the first pic on Sense 3.5 or 3.0?

I lost my appreciation for sense as soon as I rooted and dove into CM7.
It came back a little bit for sense 4.0, but meh.
I thought I loved sense until I tried AOSP roms lol

Sense 3.0 should be no issue. Sense 3.5 I have not tried yet.

i liked some of the features in sense but sense overall just plain sucks and especially with the reloads everytime you go back to the homescreen.
recently ive been addicted to the ice cream sandwich builds coming out (AOKP has been running the best so far for me, with a few minor bugs like calls not coming through (but thats what texting is for LOL))

That's why we have choices. So everyone can be happy . Myself I'm a Sense kinda guy, cause it only makes Sense :cyclops: . But that being said, I've come across quite a few very good non-Sense Roms.
The email, messaging, and people apps are what mainly keep me on Sense. The way I use them only works in Sense. If the AOSP versions worked similarly I'd likely be useing something else. They're a lot easier to port.
Sense seems fairly bloated to me. I love how native Android ICS and JB have evolved and become more smooth and streamlined. I recommend checking out the ICS custom ROMs on this board (I'm on kushdeck's pb21 build still). I would like to try out preludedrew's new Evervolv JB ROM, but I get stuck in a boot loop after installing it

That is kind of where I think I was going before trying another modded out ROM. Think I just want to try vanilla with a fancy kernel. Some things that I know I like and would like to keep, WiMax (even though I rarely use it, no use paying for it if I can't use it), Keyboard lights as I work a night shift I inevitably have to hit up the phone and keyboard at night and the elusive landscape mode. Think I might be stuck on gingerbread because of this but I'm gonna look around.
Is App2sd a kernel level function or does the UI need to recognize it too?

Teetering on the brink of slapping together his own ROM?

A2SD has to do with the Kernel, as it determines the Ext. But it also usually has to baked into the Rom. Then enabled after you flash. But you can use DarkTremors A2SD Script to add and enable it on most Roms that it's not baked into.
About your Sig. I say go for it.

Use resurrection remmix Android 7.1.2 and full substratum support so so can use as many themes you want (it's aosp based not a TouchWiz based one)
^
You definitely would prefer an AOSP ROM for theming capabilities
Or maybe try MIUI?

Renovate Edge/Dream might be your choice because it gives the ability to theme the notifications and more which is not available on Touch Wiz roms.
