A different launcher/homescreen.
A better IME keyboard.
What else is in Sense UI over vanilla android?
TIA
An overall smoother more user friendly user experience, and some new widgets and added functionality. It's more like a suite for android. It basically comes down to preference but I would take a sense android phone over vanilla any day of the week. It's not quite as drastic as for example TouchFlo3D vs Stock WinMo but it's definitely a marked improvement in overall UI.
A new messaging application, a dramatically improved media application, new widgets, multi-touch-enabled Android 1.5, new lock screen ... those are all that's coming to mind right now.
Is there any remote possibility of seeing that operating system on our beloved x8? Thanks for the replies!
google said that ice cream sandwich will be available to gingerbread devices... x8 runs gingerbread (although unofficially), so i don't see why not. the developers just need to get behind it.
Hope it is compatible!!!
What are the new features that ice cream brings?

I have a faster/better way to get Ice Cream Sandwich on our X8 device, simply go buy one Ice Cream Sandwich, eat part of them if you want, but... save a little to your device! Just put a little on top of your TouchScreen and voila! Ice Cream Sandwich on X8
lol good way to put it .. maybe i try it later. or maybe safer to skip ice cream sandwich and go to next version of android the JELLY BEAN
Guys, stop talking gibberish... That's simply spam.
Out of new, cute functions - unlocking screen with face recognition (requires front cam, but still, it's nice), stock launcher with resizeable widgets (so launcherpro plus will have to develop new functionalities to keep its position on the market ), google chrome compatible browser, inbuilt webguard (gathering data about your data transfer, with all the net-consuming apps!), lockscreen notification bar, photoeditor in camera soft, android beam (file transfer with mere touch of devices), and some other minor new features.
And since it's supposed to be ginger compatible, I guess we'll see a port for X8 as soon as sources are there for taking
I read somewhere that the minimum requirements to run ICS are 256mb of RAM and a dedicated GPU.
And I read that every device that runs Gingerbread will also be able to run ICS.
So let's wait and see what happens.

This maybe true i read that too but more ram needed
also a function of ICS is face detection on camera...
apparently that will take alot of processing power...
i am sure my phone 4 year's ago could do that no problem whatso ever
Is there a possibility of increase the amount of RAM with a SWAP partition. So that could mean that we would be able to run ICS?

SWAP isn't as fast as RAM, so it will not get good results.
We also need a better processor. Our processor is a bit slowly for ICS i think.
And ICS is available at the Android SDK, is in the repository, you can now download it, and probably run a AVD machine with it, i will try and feedback.

oh, and i read somewhere that we need a ArmV7 processor for ICS. Probably it isn't true in mine opinion.
EDIT!: I downloaded through SDK the ICS and i'm running ICS on a AVD with X8 screen resolution

This rom is only in the alpha stages, but it is still a great way to try out ICS on your kindle fire!
- Latest version fixes the carousel support (app switcher)
- Still no hardware support (netflix, youtube, etc...)
Can anypony point me in the direction of an AOSP theme for 4.0? I don't particularly like how some developers skin Ice Cream Sandwich. I'm running Energy.

A thread to chat about TW (Launcher, Nature UX, Premium Suite etc)
-------------------------------------------------------------
What do you expect to see bundled in the TW 4.4.x update?
Since with 4.0 ICS they updated TW to the N-UX, with 4.1 JB they updated to the premium suite [and a nice incremental but useful update for the N3), it makes sense that they will overhaul/make a nice update for 4.4...
I'm not so worried about new features (I actually want more devs to update apps to work in multiwindow and pen window) as optimising TW - It was built for 2.x builds and still retains a lot of old redundant code necessary to keep it running, because everything is built up on top of it, so I hope they find a way to rebuild the core of the skin or rebundle all the features into a rewritten skin, I mean, i would assume that they have been working on addressing this, but as we don't have any official word we have to just wait... I mean, we are fortunate that this is the first/only phone to be able to run current TW without a hitch, and with pure KK being reduced in RAM footprint anyways, it should feel lighter and snappier (and with ART, zoom!) but if they could make the entire skin nice and fast, even on slower devices, and use less memory on the internal storage, it would be great.
Is the version we have now even called Nature UX still or was that only the 4.0 version for Note 2 / S3?
