Calling all Laucher Pro lovers.................. Launcher Pro Plus was launched today!
http://www.launcherpro.com/
Taken from the Laucher Pro website:-
So last week I promised you big news coming to LauncherPro. It took a bit longer than I expected, but hopefully it was worth the wait!
One of the features I get requested the most is to support HTC Sense widgets. It seems everyone wants them. Because of the way these widgets are built into the HTC Sense launcher itself, this is simply not possible. And since not every Android user has a phone with HTC Sense, these widgets are not even available to all users.
Today I’m glad to announce a new milestone in LauncherPro’s history. Starting today, there’s a new version called LauncherPro Plus, which will contain several widgets, exclusive to LauncherPro Plus users.
Upcoming widgets include:
•People Widget – To quickly access all your contacts, or just your favorites, or a particular group. (Included in this release)
•Bookmarks Widget – Quick access to your browser’s bookmarks
•Friends Widget – Lists your friend’s status updates from Facebook and Twitter, and lets you update your own status too.
•Calendar/Agenda Widget – Shows you a calendar you can scroll through to switch months, and also lets you see your agenda for any particular day right within the widget.
•Messaging – Scroll through a list of your SMS messages or one by one. Quick links to delete messages, reply, etc.
I’ll be adding these widgets over the next couple of weeks. The “People” widget is available right now to LauncherPro Plus users. There’s going to be other features in the future that will be available only to Plus users too.
Pretty cool, eh?
Now, as you can imagine, LauncherPro Plus is not free. I’ve been working full-time on LauncherPro for the past two months without making a single penny. Obviously I can’t keep devoting all my time to it without making any money, so hopefully enough of you will buy the Plus version to keep the project alive.
The early-bird price for LauncherPro Plus is only $2.99 USD, and you can buy it today through Paypal using this link. The price will most likely go up once all widgets are included, so you’ll want to get in early to enjoy the discount.
I haven’t made it available through the Android market because unfortunately I don’t live in one of the few countries that Google allows to sell paid apps from. And there’s stil a huge amount of people (including myself) who live in countries where paid apps aren’t even available to purchase. (Way to go, Google!)
Another good thing about this new Plus version is that, if sales go well enough, I’ll be able to actually hire programmers to help me develop LauncherPro even faster. So even if you don’t have a use for these widgets, you should consider buying the Plus version to support the future development of LauncherPro.
Just downloaded this myself and although has only the one widget at the momnet the potential is certainly there!
Don't thank Google, thank you country's government for placing unreasonable restrictions on such things.
what are the chances that HTC will just sue him for copying their widgets?

Very high. But we will see.. But I don't think it's the actual Sense widgets..

When you install launcher pro plus you can see they are not the actual sense widgets. As for HTC getting nasty nothing ever happened to Weather Widgets or Fancy Widget how copy the HTC clock flawlessly!

i have paypal and maybe i'll buy this one.
I paid for : even for launcher pro he deserve this money. The widget is too sense-style for me (black-glossy theme).

I just hope he won't loose interest in updating normal version.
Normal and pro version completely the same. Only + for Pro is the widget.
I paid for it... as mentioned above, the dev deserves some £££ for his excellent launcher and having some extra widgets is just a bonus... personally I don't like the included contacts widget... the contact pictures looks awful!
c'mon keep his beer fund going. love this launcher bought it myself
Can someone please post some screenshots, so I can see how the widgets look? If they look nearly like the HTC's, I'll give it a try.

i really like the fact he uses paypal
paypal converts it into your local currency automatically, and saves me getting charged by my bank
i hate it when i use google checkout to pay for a lil app, then find the bank charges turn out to be more than the app was in the first place...
hello
i just see some videos on youtube
iOS tweeks from cydia

and there r more from cydia !! i told u we should get cydia !!
OMG CYDIA AGAIN... Get over it
Yeah I dig that Move2Unlock deal. Real cool!
DO WANT Move2Unlock!!!
can from anyone send this to CyanogenMod team ??
ــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ
i have tow great idea will make CyanogenMod better than now
1-Launcher
CM7 use ADW Launcher !! CyanogenMod famous Android rom and he didn't have special launcher !!
CyanogenMod should have special launcher
2-CyanogenMod Market
ok i think this is so great idea for CyanogenMod..CyanogenMod should have a special market like Cydia on iPhone..there r may Scripts , tweeks and others add-ons..so all that should go in CyanogenMod Market
that's will break iPhone and most of android users will come to CyanogenMod
ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ
you guys don't realize how much work development like this is. iphone and its mobilesubstrate framework (and the mods which can be built on said framework) are completely different than what is available to our devices. it would take a crazy amount of work to make something similar to what they have.
and with cyanogen, again you don't realize the amount of work put into it. why make their own launcher when there is nothing wrong with adw and anybody can and will install their favorite launcher? it would be a waste of time. the market would also be more work than it is worth, the idea of cyanogen is to have a modded and tweaked aosp type rom. if there are available tweaks they will already be in cm, not some market. and the way most of the tweaks work it would be near impossible to make it so people could download and install them without screwing up the whole phone.

Samsung Touchwiz has a move2unlock thing. Use the mobile Facebook site to save pictures. ADW Notifier https://market.android.com/details?id=org.adw.launcher.notifications&hl=en . Folders in folders is only needed because iOS limits the number of Apps you can have in a folder, Android doesn't. Does your Android phone have a retina display?
How cares about cydia I wouldn't want something like that on android or any roms like cyanogen roms cause it is basically an app for free paid apps and different types of tweeks you can do to your device.

you truly are insane. lets say there was a magical app called cydia for android. it still wouldnt make it possible to do the things you want. someone would still have to make the things you are talking about. and once they complete these programs why would they put them in cydia? the android market reaches way more people than some non existent 'special' market. so then the question is why use the cydia market? use the real market.
o yea and you are insane. i want to rebuild the android market for you with a different icon and renamed to cydia so you will be happy

wow! you realize if there was an app called cydia it couldnt break the laws of the android platform and let you do anything that couldnt already be done on the android market. its not the lack of cydia, its the lack of a good lockscreen solution.

I was in the iphone development scene for about 4 years before android. the major reason Cydia exists is because of apple's stranglehold on the app store. they have very strict guidelines on what goes through. you will never see a replacement lockscreen or notification system or music app or anything that might modify any part of the system to make your phone customized more than a wallpaper.
Cydia is the place that developers who want to do more than just make a fart soundboard or a game and that is why it thrives, because it is the only way to get and distribute the apps and themes you can get through it. On android, developers put all their great tweaks inside their custom roms, and the market has way more freedom. There is no need for anything like Cydia.
In response to one of your comments... if you used Cydia you would see why people pick android over iphone.
(from the standpoint of somebody experienced in that community, Cydia has actually gone downhill recently, at least before I moved to android. most of what you find is a bunch of terrible and crappy themes, you spend way more time trying to find things worth downloading than you should have to.)

Well said! Cydia is not really a magical stuff or things. It's more like a repository of things where you can find themes/hacks for your phone. Way before Apple introduced Folders, Cydia already had folders and users are able to customise the icons of folders. Apple like the idea and incorporated it into their IOS.
Camera+ had the idea of using iPhone's volume button to take picture (instead of the usual onscreen-click-capture). Apple was mad at the idea and had Camera+ taken off the AppStore for about 3 months before Camera+ developer took away the feature of using volume-button to take picture. But again, with the upcoming IOS 5, Apple is going to introduce the ability to take pictures with the volume-button (apart from onscreen-click).
Cydia was at the forefront of Apple's IOS. The tweaks and hacks were easier to manage/code/tweak as there's only 1 physical product, the iPhone or the iPad; whereas in the Android market, the base code is shared out by Google but different OEM will try to brand their hardware/solutions.
My 2 cents.
Cheers!
I've used Cydia. I have an iPod Touch 2G. I found it terrible. Takes ages to update itself on my 30MB connection, it was buggy as hell, half the stuff didn't work.
If you really want Cydia and its "magical tweaks" that make everything brilliant like
Changing lockscreens (woo!)
Themes (woow!)
Wallpapers in the form of naked women (WOOPWOOP!)
Soundboards that don't work (wee!)

Sure, there are some good things in Cydia. Name me something there that we don't have in Android (CM7, Sense, MIUI, etc) I can only think of... erm.. nothing.

1. you are completely wrong. the iphone doesn't even have a launcher. it has a springboard which is hooked into by mobilesubstrate through root access gained by jailbreaking and modifying the boot kernels and other stuff that even I don't understand. Cydia allows you to download some cool tweaks that android doesn't need because it has the functionality on its own.
2. it's spelled tweaks, dammit. tweaks, not tweeks. tweaks.

Hello guys,
WP7Android apps for free here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21408342
So what's all about? !!
A innovative UI currently in development which will have 20 apps and a simple, elegant, fully customizable GUI. Available screenshots in second post.
Also a ROM[no Kang], which aims to become better then CM&MIUI and improve android overall. If you are a developer or a user who wants to help just PM me or Mr.Highway

Apps closed beta signup:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHBnMjRaUEpRX3ZFUlZWWmxVOWxGUHc6MQ
What else can you expect from it?
All apps are planned to be the best on the market so you can expect a rich user experience with many features that will include competitor ones and original.
How many apps will the UI have?
About 20. Here is a list with most of them:
Code:
1)Dialer
2)SMS/MMS
3)Email
4)Calendar
5)People with IM and social
6)Calculator
7)Player
8)Gallery
9)Launcher
10)Browser
11)Notes,
12)Stock + Currency converter
13)Weather
14)Clock
15)News
16)File/Task manager
17)Settings
18)Lockscreen
19)Theme Engine - Desktop App
How is everything organized?
I'm leading a multinational team of 9 developers. As for the project it has 4 stages:
1)All apps with basic features in one app
2)Adding advanced features
3) Integration between all apps
4) Implementing UI
When will this be released?
Something like end of April or middle of May for beta if things go well. And final release 2-3 weeks later.
When can we test?
Some will have the chance to test early in private beta testing. All others will have to wait for public beta.
Will this be free?
Free with ads. Estimated prices in third post.
If there is anything you want to know PM or email me([email protected]).

Blog
So I've decided to keep the third post as a personal blog where I can share my thoughts about the project, your comments and what else come in my mind. So let's begin.
1)
In about a day my project got over 24 pages on Google. So many that I got bored counting . This looks really promising, never imagined this level of success. Also first page on XDA.
Managed to read a few and there are two things that were not quite right. One article said that I should change the name to metroid. I don't think so, that will mean M$ flame . Also another thing is the supposition that all team members are xda guys. Only one is(which wants no money or IR), the rest are paid devs. There is no chance that free time devs will finish this project in time. Hope I made clear some things.
Also this week meteo and new contacts will be finished. Next week IM with AIM,MSN,Yahoo,GTalk,Skype,Facebook and Jabber support will be finished. Tell me if you use others as well.
Edit: Thanks to the guy who emailed me to remind me of Facebook chat.
2)
So I thought more about the prices and there will be 2 options:
In app purchase for ads free with
Google - 2.50$
Paypal - 1.89$
Why is it cheaper with paypal?
Google fee is 30%(thievery) and it registers as payment and thus I have to pay taxes. Paypal fee is 0.33$+1% and it registers as donation. I will receive about the same amount in the end(a little less for G option)
So paypal is a better option for all of us, even if some of you hate PayPal. Hope the lower price will encourage you to use it.
Also there will be an update with pics and a video showing more of the UI most likely this weekend.
That's it for now. Stay tuned!!!
Awesome project!!! Keep it up!
Thank you!
Thanks for your efforts and hard work! This looks promising.
I will definitely be keeping my eye on this project.

Can't wait for this to finally release!!
The Android 4.2, JellyBean update will not be available for Nexus S or Motorola XOOM users.
This news was confirmed by Google's Jean-Baptiste Queru, who stated that both devices will remain running Android 4.1.2.
The reasoning behind the software not updating to the latest build of Android is due to the older hardware included on the Nexus S and Motorola XOOM.
There were already reports of Android 4.1 running slow on both devices, so updating to the newer build would not be the best idea.
The Android 4.2 JellyBean update finally rolled out to Nexus 4 pre-release users earlier this week.
The Nexus 4 smartphone will now have the ability to upgrade to the latest version on Android 4.2, which brings features that Google has previously covered such as Lock screen widgets and Multi-user support.
Lock screen widgets appear on the device's lock screen and allows the user to customize them in order to view their calendar, email, and to also identify music with Sound Search.
Multi-user support is an interesting feature that allows Nexus 10 users to share their tablet with others by creating separate customizable spaces for each person. In order to log in, users can simply turn on their tablet and tap their photo and they will be able to access their own customized version of their homescreen, apps, email, photos, and storage.
Users can customize their homescreen by choosing a wallpaper, adding favorite apps and games from Google Play, creating folders, and arranging beautiful widgets by dragging and dropping.
A Google spokesperson confirmed to 9to5 Google that Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 users will be prompted to install the update once they power up their devices for the first time.
Google has also introduced a new security feature on Android 4.2, JellyBean, that aims to reduce the running of malware on an Android device.
A similar software to this was released in the past with Bouncer, which was available in the Google Play store .
Bouncer checked applications in the Play store for malicious content.
Now Google has implemented similar software directly into the Android operating system that will detect any foul play coming from foreign programs.

I think the nexus can handle it, with the right optimization. But that's too much work for a nexus device apparently. Don't get me started on the Xoom. Yes, dual core doesn't always mean better, but the CPU definitely was better than the ns, and with a gig of ram (same as the gnex), it should run.

JBQ did really say that.
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/android-building/-ymcoMuDAbA/3cotWkQ-20wJ
how i wish that my gathered news was a false palm but looks like they are serious about it
I think it was a good decision on Google's part. I really had issues with the RAM requirements of JB and ICS. It always ran fairly slow when you got any heavy app running like Chrome or Maps or certain games. It really comes down to the apps being heavy but on GB the 50 - 100mb of RAM not being used by the OS really tends to go a long way when you have such hungry apps running.
tldr; Nexus S needs more ram to run JB well. I ended up going back to a GB rom (in my sig)

This is not 100% true. If you use an debloated JB ROM with a kernel having Big Mem patch, Nexus S won't let you down (except for high end 3D games). I am running 4.2 on my Nexus S now and I have 140 MB free RAM with stock kernel. If I'll flash bedalus kernel, I think I'll have even more.
This decision from google is let's say just political
so true, with the help of bedalus marmite kernel you will got 400+mb free mem.
i think the OS are not the issue but the apps and processor matters also the internal memory...
Google mocks us!
Since I passed under android 4.2, my Nexus S works much better than before. Réactivity & performance too. I think Google wants us to change for the Nexus 4 is now impossible to buy!
even its not coming, no problem coz we already have 4.2.1 on my nexus s

Samsung revealed their new tablets today, with android 4.4 and a new UI. I can't decide if I like it or not.
Also, do you think they will bring it to the Note 3, and will the 4.4 update make root harder?
i'm atheist but it's time for a little prayer
god please don't let samsung do this to us, fellow note 3/s4 users
we've done nothing wrong, please don't punish us
jokes aside, i think its super ugly even tho Android Authority (i think) is praising it as pretty "simplistic" "clean" "good refreshed touchwiz" design
this is bull****. Apple hasn't made anything copy-worthy in past one year so now copy windows 8? This stupid thing is simply live tiles (or watevz Micro$oft calls them) combined with the ****ty my magazine app and slapped on top of previous TouchWiz. I can't say i prefer it to old touchWiz
Well.. I liked it.

There are already reports that small OTA update took away root, so it's 99% sure any new update will make root harder, the patch is ready now.
If it looks remotely like the new Win 8 Live Tile interface, I hate it already without seeing it, Win 8 is the most ugly, useless thing ever conceived. At least thanks MS for ability to downgrade to Win 7.
Anyone got a link so I can have a peek?, can't seem to find it for some random reason
It looks awful. Can't we please just get core android and be done with these pointless skins? Add Touchwiz as an option or something, yeugh.
I'll stick with Apex as the launcher, and Zooper Widget on the lockscreen...

I actually look forward to it
Samsung didn't copy windows 8, they did something similar to chameleon launcher except they removed the app dock.
I guess it really helps especially on a 12.2 in tab where you can get every thing on one screen (calendar, weather, mail, feed, and favorite apps and content without the ugly touchwiz app dock)
it says under testing...so i hope it still is....it needs a couple of key improvements especially on the icons...if it goes a lot closer to kitkat's original icons....then this new UI gets my vote...at this point...anything's better than the current touchwiz...been seeing it since s3...eyesore now
I want the new Magazine UX !!
I know most people don't like the new UI from the NotePro tablet, but I really do. Is there a launcher that is quite similar to this or can someone even port this to the note 3? I'm already using Chameleon launcher but it just doesn't cut it. Anyone?
Those things look like widgets to me and you could probably delete them and it would look the same. Im not a big widget guy. I got widgest but no on the home screen.
