Hi Gurus,
Is there any possibility that we can get NFC feature on GNote in near future?

Nope.
It needs hardware that the N7000 doesn't have.
Buy the LTE version if you want that.

you can in the not toooo far future get SIM cards with build inn NFC...don't know how far inn the future that is yet though...
I was sure NFC was built in the Note. I'm surprised it isn't. I bought the Note thinking to keep it for a long time but now I'm disappointed because I'm sure I saw it advertised almost everywhere that the Note has NFC. %@C*//

Buy the LTE (AT&T) Note for NFC.
BTW if they do release a sim card capable of holding a NFC chip, your after market Alloy back will block it from working...
Also that Moneto link looks scammy to me, "Booster stickers" are complete bull****.
In fact If the sticker has any metal in it it'll make it harder for the NFC Arial to pickup any signal.

yeah it should work just as any other nfc chip on simcard etc - but on gingerbread there is no application that support it yet
Anything else required other than the battery? I thought the att note had nfc hardware onthe battery cover?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
lol, you have no idea how NFC works do you?
The NFC is NOT built into the battery, Its a part of the main-board and Snapdragon architecture
see pics here:
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/63911416-post3899.html
this is simple.
you either buy the Korean Model (not recommended)
or you buy the LTE Snapdragon model
or you live without NFC and buy the N7000 (Exynos chipset) International version.
I gotta ask, what exactly are you guys using nfc for? Trying to figure out the hype. Please be as detailed as possible.
What the heck does the NFC battery do since the "NFC enabled" ones have the the extra connections for the anntena

Basically:
-You can store your information like for say your credit card info on your phone and if you find a NFC enabled payment device like seen in Toys R Us or Best Buy you can just scan your phone instead of having to pull out your card all the time. This replaces your card entirely.
-Android Beam: Let's you exchange information by putting two phones with NFC in them to exchange info like videos, pictures, links, and making payments(It's not made yet, but probably in the future).
These two are the only uses I could think up of right now that is right now available in the U.S. In other countries you can use them as bus passes too like in South Korea.
Android Beam only works in ICS at the moment..

I know what I want to use it for in the future - context sensitive app launchers!
Sony is going to push this hard - look for sony nfc smart tags on Amazon.
Are you guys really that comfortable to store all that personal information on a smartphone?
Maybe later for me.
Well, If your using the Android pattern lock you should be safe, as even FBI can't break it
The NFC ready battery I think is that it has a NFC antenna, the chip is on the phone itself I believe...

Yes, I know NFC tags.
But, for what? I meant, what do you do with it?
There must be a purpose, or things that you automate by scanning the tags.
I plan on buying some tags just to mess around with things. I'm going to use one that turns WiFi off and puts my phone on vibrate and stick it by my front door. I'm not too sure what I would do with the rest, but I'll find some use for them eventually.

NFC Is technology not in but a very small few phones and devices..There would only be extended capabilities when it IF ???? it ever becomes a standard device in more android devices .
im not sure i want my device sending this information out there . I Have security Questions about it.. But nothing is safe and fraud proof
The iPhone 5 is rumored to have one. Doesn't get much bigger than that.

I was wondering if any found any real good use of the NFC or the Google wallet app. I have $10 from signing up, and am thinking about going over to 7-11, but it is weird when on the MasterCard finder, it says there is NFC checkout and you don't want to seem like an idiot trying to check out.

It would be so much simpler and have a far greater reach if you just had a QR code in it.
Using NFC for just a website seems a total waste to me.

The only thing I saw with it, was that it can'y verify payments immediately unless it's connected. I have tried twice. Once at Best Buy, failed because the systems don't work. Second at 7-11 and it worked but it doesn't say whether it took the money ou, because I didn't have it connected.

Pretty sure that most of Note II usesrs were waiting for the screen recording option that Samsung already announced ...
we were thinking that future software updates will add that option....
but that will not happen as Samsung already declared it on their official website in FAQ section that they will not add that option due to potential copyright concerns in some regions.
here is the article :

Although Galaxy Note II,GT-N7100 was introduced at IFA event in 2012 with a Screen Recording function.
Samsung have decided not to include this feature in the final product due to potential copyright concerns in some regions.
As a result, Samsung does not, at this time, have a Software upgrade plan for the Screen Recording function.

Ye i figured they had killed this idea, in my view it has more to do with current versions of Android than anything else. Consider how many screen recording tools are on the play store and how many of them work properly with JB... err none!
If you want to record your screen get an MHL cable and a HDMI capture card only full proof way right now to do screen capture.
Anyone else want to way in with screen recorder conspiracy theories or am I on my own on this one
I don't think people are waiting for Samsung to do it. They're waiting for someone to jack the apk somehow and leak it in the Internet so they can flash it into their phones.

Some people have got the APK and have been looking for how to implement it, but there appears to be a host of libs and framework files required that we simply do not have.
Without those additional files we cannot use it.
The best alternative is to use Screencast, but root is required.

Torrents can still be downloaded to a device, much easier and better quality. You can also use the video camera feature if you're separate, but really, who uses recoding for pirating video? They can disable audio and problem solved. Our reduce it to 15fps... or a dozen other things, but they should remove or completely.
I need screen casting to help debug apps, not to pirate videos. Lots of people have legitimate uses.

You could do an IMEI check. Once you get the phone press *#06# and IMEI number will show. Then google IMEI checker (http://www.imei.info/) seems like a good one. That will tell you information about your phone. Also, once you get the phone just go to settings-about phone, theres some info there.

Another tipoff is the screen. I've seen knockoff phones before (Note II for example) and the screens aren't in the same league as originals. LG put a decent panel in the N4.
CPU-Z -
Know the specs.. Good clones will usually have the stuff people will look for on the surface.. Working wifi, cellular data, camera, speakers. They will usually skimp on things people wouldn't normally check ~ have lower res screens, less ram, missing sub features ( GPS, LED for camera, Gravity Sensors, sometimes even a microphone etc) and less RAM. Some also have really crummy touchscreens, have difficulty detecting touches around the edges ( try typing with the keyboard or using an app)
As a side, is the N4 a popular target to clone? It seems like it would be a low risk considering its price point vs the competitors.. Also it seems like the target audience for this phone would be more capable to spot a fake ( again vs the mainstream phones)..
Seems like I always see the grey markets flooded with Samsungs and Apple, can't say I have ever seen a Nexus phone or tab. At least in Shanghai / Hong Kong
Contact me. I'm in UK. Will order and ship it to you. ( will open a secure connection between you're machine and mine ) you can order and despatch it

--> I traded my HTC One for a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 with someone through Craigslist. Unfortunately, I was so excited to get the phone I only used imei*info to verify the phone's authenticity and checkesnfree*com to see if the phone was blacklisted. (new user so can't post links)
Results from both sites were a "go" so I did the trade.
With T-mobile (or any carrier) I knew I wouldn't get 4G or LTE speeds with this model phone, which was fine. However, it was impossible for me to get off EDGE (pure H3LL after having LTE with the HTC).
Did the research I should have done before doing the trade and found out at least one easy way to ID a fake i9500: Check the phone's serial number. It shouldn't be "123456789ABCDEF" - obvious enough, if you know where to look. If it is you absolutely have a fake.
They may get smarter and this not work to check the i9500's, but for now it's good enough.
POINT: Don't be an idiot like me and fail to do your research first . Checking a couple websites isn't enough.
[Placing the post in Galaxy S4 section also]
Just download "os monitor" from any market and it will tell you everything from the number of cores to chip set, CPU e.t.c that should do the trick along with the imei number.

You are not alone. What it boils down to is this, Our NFC chip is capable of tap to pay, but requires essentially drivers, google has not added the ones for this chip in stock android but some manufacturers have, including Samsung. Unfortunately the N3 came out just a hair too early to ride that train.

Have a look at Jasmine rom, it is a complete S5 port and because it uses the same NFC chip as us, it may just be our foot in the door for tap to pay. 2.0 allowed you to set up tap to pay, but it did nothing at the check out, I am hoping it will work in 2.2.
What note 3 has tap to pay? What carrier note 3?
