Android 3? - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I know this may be a rather stupid question, but why have there not been any development using Android 3 ??
I have searched, but found nothing. Or maybee I just haven't looked hard enough.

Android 3 is for tablets, U8800 is not a tablet

Don't I feel like a idiot. I was not aware of that, thanks for the info.

It also was not released by google as open source like gingerbread and before and ICS. Without source code there is no development.

For the zte blade there is a honeycomb rom

Meego on Galaxy S

Hey Guys!
Is it possible to run Meego on SGS? It is possible on HD2 and Nexus S, so why it wouldn't be possible on our phones?
P.S. Sorry for my English
Samsung haven't released i9000 sources, but htc releases sources for HD2 and google for Nexus S. I do hope that Samsung releases sources with 2.3 update since it will be last update from samsung for i9000!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
So the answer is Meego would be hard to get run with phone without sources.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
the biggest problem are some closed source drivers to my knowledge.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
It's just a matter of someone needing to implement support.. Seeing as Nokia have mostly dropped out of the Meego partnership though (traitors), I can't imagine that the OS will continue growing much. At this time, it probably makes more sense to focus on Android 3 support

will I9000 get ice cream sandwhich

will we get the ice cream sandwhich update for our devices.......

I seriously don't think I9000 will get any update beyond 2.3.x
Me to..i think dont.. But hey.. We already got ton of talent dev Here..maybe we still can taste of ics..

I will say ...
We have to look at nexus s first
Officially? Maybe.
CM7 Version? Most definitely.
For now you guys might want to try the ICS Launcher. It's currently taken down from the Market, but if you Google it you can still download it from their website for free...

Beware the ICS launcher - the one I downloaded requested permission to dial out, so I didn't take any risk and deleted it immediately.

I believe all lauchers do.
I guess ICS source code should be published first , in order for the cm7 team adopts it.

I think our phone will get ICS officially from samsung.Dont forget SGS was samsung flagship and it is this phone only that turned samsung into android champion. You see samsung is updating SGS as fast as SGS II
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I think we will and should get it as galaxy s has a very capable hardware.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Think so. have nothing official to base this statement on but I really think so. i'm not seeing google leaving nexus s on 2.3 without an update to ICS, even with a new phone coming up, and galaxy s has just about the same hardware.
Sent from my GT-I9000
And they want to avoid fragmentation so they should update us as well.

I read somewhere that any device capable of running gingerbread would be updated to ICS
I don't see any reason they won't provide an update to ICS... after all this phone was produced merely about a year ago, and is still one of the best (despite the fact that Samsung completely messed up with the RFS file system...) .
Ive also heard that any device capable of running GB will be able to run ICS, however the only thing that may hold the phone back is the limited ram :/
I do however hope we get ICS!!!

Maybe here ?
"At Google I/O I asked the Android team if Ice Cream Sandwich had any special hardware requirements that would prevent it from running on existing smartphones. They didn’t name specific handsets, but we were told that most phones which could run Android 2.3 would be able to handle the update. That doesn’t guarantee anything for current Android smartphone owners, but we expect Google’s own Nexus One and Nexus S will be some of the first devices upgraded to Android 4.0."
source: androidandme.com
This is interesting too:
"If you are a fan of custom ROMs, then you will be happy to know that Google plans to release Ice Cream Sandwich to the Android Open Source Project. Google typically releases the source code to each version of Android a few months after it debuts on a new device, but they chose not to do this with Honeycomb. Andy Rubin said Google wanted to prevent developers from putting the software on phones “and creating a really bad user experience. We have no idea if it will even work on phones.”
Ice Cream Sandwich will be available for the development community to hack to their hearts’ content and I’m sure we will see CyanogenMod 8 a month after the source code is public."
...............And maybe that Samsung could surprise us with a ICS firmware for i9000...
I think our SGS will get ICS officialy, btw I don't think it will bring any major improvement (as happened with gingerbread).
However it would be better to be updated because some new apps probably will only work on ICS.

One big: Hardware accelerated UI (and the sgx540 still a really good gpu).
After that, i think you can say it's smoother than ever on your i9000
Why would launcher need to dial out? You have a dialer / phone apk for that, I guess.

sgs has had enough updates there r new phones like sgs2 an the comming soon so thier prefrence will b first an hardware wise those will run better....i dont like the gb on sgs , i got sgs2 an the gb works kool....i think eclair, froyo were the best to perform on sgs....

Let the games begin.
But.... don't we still need the Mali driver? I thought without it, we won't have ICS?

So given that we have ICS source and similar drivers (From HC tablets running the Mali400) there shouldn't be a whole lot in the devs way right?

If u got CM7 already there should be a CM9 also for u - but beware it may not run propper wihtout good hardware - even the wildfire is quite low for it (and i also read about needed hardware acceleration - others tell it hasn't much higher requirements then gingerbread - so we have to w8)
I don't know what u mean with soon - but till a fully working version will be out 2 month will pass properly. (with luck a bit more early...)
CM8 was reserved for Honeycomb - but since SourceCode never got released it will never be there so u wont miss someting.
For releases for galaxy mini keep track of the related forum:

Steve Kondik (Cyanogen) tweeted yesterday that CM9 will be out in approx 2 months (I assume he is talking about Nightly #0),. I guess I posted that link somewhere.

Maybe. I was simply assuming it will be Nightly. Anyway, I guess time will tell. For now, I guess one can only hope ICS runs (atleast decently?) on the Wildfire.

I'm not that optimistic it will run decently. Jean-Baptiste wrote this:
ICS doesn't work with software GL, it relies on extensions that aren't
implemented in the software renderer, and I'm guessing that even if
those extensions were implemented they'd be too slow to result in
anything practical.

In other news, I've got my new phone now, and is busy getting familiar with how it works under the hood. It's quite different from the Wildfire I tell you. It's crazy ass fast and smooth though , but it loves to eat battery.

First what for phone do you have now
Second are you going develop cm9 for wildfire?
I've got the Galaxy W.
Regarding CM9 for Wildfire, I'll have to see if there will be some software gl hacks added to it. I imagine doing that and make it work decently will be a huge task, so they might not find it worthwhile. Otherwise there probably won't be any point in developing for the Wildfire, as the user experience would just be to bad from the slow UI.
Wildfire history is done... thank you for all arco... I think I'm going to buy a nexus s... the price dropped a lot and the community around that phone is amazly strong... what do you think?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk
Wildfire does anything it can at the moment. I am not asking more to be honest.
If I want more, I buy a newer phone. So, if cm9 works with wildfire it is good. if it doesn't, I don't give a flying feck.
getting gingerbread is good enough for me. I don't thinkICS would run smooth, bit it would be nice to see it.

i saw thats there a ics build for the htc desire what if people port it to our wildfire.

U8860 Honor ICS rom for porting.

I have the resources to lay my hands on the upcoming ICS 4.0.3 rom for the Honor, the version B978 it is the final beta version before the official launch.
Can anyone work on that rom to port it for the Pro? I don't want to waste resources, it would be pointless to upload it if anyone is going to work on it.
Dev's please confirm me so i can post it.

Not senseless clearly you are not a developer, this is a stable version without Huawei UI, the only change is going to suffer is that before it's launch as the official one.
By working on this you are going to save TIME which clearly doesn't mean anything to you because you are a user not a provider/developer.
So go troll to another post smartass.

If honor port is stable dzo will take it and make it working...but maybe he is waiting final version....then port is easy from non pro to x5pro!!

Dude no need to insult now i see you are bleeding from the wound, i don't disturb developers, i don't sent PM's, just post what i think may be of their interest smartass.
The porting from Honor to Pro is easier because of the chipset resemblance MSM8255 Pro vs. MSM8255T Honor.
The U8800 MSM7230 resemblance to Pro is only cosmetic, even the Wifi and bluetooth chip are different hence the work to make the porting is harder.
