Hi there! I'm trying to free some space on the phone (as well as in the navigation menu) so I use Titanium Backup to do so.
My question is, do you know which ones of this apps are not safe to uninstall?
"SEMCSetupWizard.apk" (the magic wand annoying icon)
"Omadatasyncservice.apk" (Sony Ericsson Sync 1.0 - when I run this app it says it has been discontinued... so, it's useless)
"EManualLauncher.apk" (User guide 1.0)
"Usersupport.apk" (User support 2.0.10)
Also, I've read that if you remove "/data/dop.iso" it won't ask you anymore if you want to install PC Companion when connecting via USB, plus you free 13mb space... is that true?
Thanks in advance.

OmaDatasyncService.apk - Part of sony syncronization
EmanualLauncher.apk <---- online manual phone (but that have main app -->> Emanual.apk)
semcsetupwizard.apk <----Configuration Wizard Sony Ericsson (if you first use new simcard/sdcard)
usersupport.apk <----refer to a website (don't delete this!)

Thank you!
I've deleted EManual and Setup Wizard with no problems. The Sync and User Support apps have been kept safely.
You said Setup Wizard is for use with SIM card and SD cards? Does this mean that if I change my phone SD card further on, or repair the phone I will have trouble?

I m a super noob with WM.
Just got the X1 and want to tweak it and make it as useful as possible.
loved this thread:-
X1 programs, panels, tweaks, fixes [all in one place][Jan 03]
But I am looking for some stuff as well:-
1. Something to backup my Whole phone to my laptop. (so i can just hit restore and have it back to its previous state)
2. Memory optimizer of some sort. Is thr a kind of a virtual memory thingy that can use the flash card to support the ram??
3. Maintenance tools like registry optimizer or cleanup utility.
4. Is thr a need for antivirus for X1? which 1 shud i use??
Thx in advance for your help.
1) You can't. The only thing you do have is factory defaults by hard reset.
2) You don't need that on an X1, it has enough RAM.
3) Search for SKtools, it's a paid program that gives these and a lot more options. The demo is limited, but still kind-of useful.

You can use something like Spb Backup. It backups the whole phone to the SD card in a selfexecutable exe. So you only need to run the file from the SD card after a hard reset to get the phone to a previous state.
Hmmm...
Then thr might be a problem with my opera.
Coz even with just 2~3 windows it sometimes shows the "not enuf memory" msg.
---
I'll try the Spb phone backup. Thx man.

BTW do I really need a antivirus?? which 1 shud i use??
pretty much everything (and even more) is covered by SK Tools
except that you can't backup directly to your laptop, but on the microSDHC card (simply copy the complete-System-backup file to your laptop...)
Hello everyone!
I have a HTC Tytn with WM5, and want to update it to WM6 (or later, with perfect and stable versions)
I´ve read loads of post, and got confused with so many applications and proceedments.
This is my first time with flashing/updating with these kind of devices, and need help to update my device.
I think for me and for future reference (for other users) that a step by step tutorial would be great.
P.S - I already searched the forum, and web for a step by step procedure wih no success.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, I also got a Tytn with WM5 and now I am using WM6 released by HTC and ATT officially. This official WM6 Professional room was available before Aug 2008 and after that period, ATT offical website no longer provide download service. I searched on google for a few hours and finally get an official released rom. And this rom can work by just connecting your fully battery charged Tytn via USB and execute the *exe file you downloaded. It's very easy.
My suggestion: Ask google where can you get this room downloaded. And further more. Attention suspective links. There do exists free download without requirement of some sensitive information(Credit card number, etc)

If you've searcherd then you know to install Hard SPL V7 first... After that you can use the sd card method to install ANY Hermes rom... A quick search will give details, I know I've typed it out enough times...
Cheers....
Dear Ultramag69,
I do want to install Hard SPL V7 first, but I fail for almost every known method
to install it into my device. And I do unlock to super CID under the guide got
from this forum. I don't know why. So finally I decided to use a official release
version.

Go to the sticky about Hard SPL in the upgrading section, page 116, post 1160. It will tell you how to use the sd card to upgrade the SPL. Just remember that you need a 2Gb or less sd card formatted FAT32 or it won't work...
Thanks I'll try. But before that I am interested that whether the upgrade for Hermes from WM6 to WM6.5 would save me memory for running programms? The problem I am facing is that after I open WIFI and Palringo I will use 70% memory. When I open Google Map, then it eats 87% of memory. Can upgrade to un official WM6.5 help me solve this problem, or in reverse, latest system requires more memory?

I use HTC Task Manager and it also offers Close "X" button for all running Apps. But I want remove some ATT software encored in my windows mobile system, such as ATT Music, Mobile TV, Cellular Video...etc. Is there anyway I can move them without re flash my rom with 3rd party rom?
NO.........
Done [But, Can't Detect Memory Card]
Hello!
There's actually a link in XDA for the W.M 6.5 ROM.
Works perfect with TYTN, although i still have the memory card detection problem.
It says that it's not installed.
About the WM 6.5;
Since this equipment is a little bit slow; i added a few apps so the equipment can run faster (due to the new ROM consumes a little more memmory than the original WM. --> WM5.1).
[Performance Apps]
"Speedboost"
"Advanced Config"
I find those very usefull and you can actually "see" the diference; if you configure them well.
Memory Card NOT Working...
Hello.
By now i think i've read everything about this problem; and still can't access the memory card.
Although i found a method to figure where the problem is.
I opened the camera app; and reinserted the memory card; then a message appears asking if you desire to save the photos in the memory card.
So it means that the SD Slot; the memory card; are working.
Also seems that WM6.5 v2 (from "FCW") detects it somehow... But i can't open access the memory card in anyway.
I tryed these SDBus Updates: (but no success)
- AX3L 3.1.2c SDHC DLL's
- HTC SDHC Settings
- MiniSD HC Patch v2.2
- SDBUS
- SDHC
I'm going to install the v3 version now.
I'll report in a while.
WM 6.5 v3 (FCW)
No use; i can't find out...
Tryed everything and can't get it working.
The v3 works awsome; but didn't fix the problem.
It detects with the "Camera Method" but i can't use/explore the memory card. Also if i go into the "memory" app it says memory card not installed.
Any idead on what i'm doing wrong?
Yeah, me too !
I still cannot access my sd card in tytn at WM6.5 until now...
I wonder if HardSPL v.7 will works...
Greetings;
Awww... I was digging my old threads to make them more usefull, clean and clear.
Yes HARDSPL worked great!
By this time i'm proud to say that my HTC died.
Anyways; if anyone has troubles with SD Card; try to install the ROM; without the SD Card in the device. That shall do the trick. I remember that was my issue. Hope it helps.
Best Regards;

Why would you want to remove it? Granted, moving files around is simply a case of kicking in to Disk Drive mode but (in my experience) if you're gonna use apps such as SPB, you're gonna need Activesync on both device and PC.
dont remove it >.< loOl
hi again friends, so please tell me why in the application menager i can see that the sofware open's automaticlly?
before i install the software in the pc i didnt have this problem
thanks for your help
yeahh i also want to know this, because its always opening by itself and causing phone lag
Don't know how to uninstall it, but if you open Activesync/Menu/Options, you can delete the sync sources, which should stop it from trying to sync automatically.
Hi guys
I'm new to the Android business and I have a few questions, which I will be very happy if you answered.
1. What the heck is a gold card ? I mean, I know it's a modified memcard that I need for rooting phones, but why do I need it ? Why is it not possible to root a phone without it ? Can I use the goldcard as a usual memcard, or do I have to have separate one ?
2. Are there any tutorials for rooting under linux ? I have dualboot, but I don't like windoze, so it would be nice to be able to do it under Ubuntu.
3. Is it possible to restore the original ROM after flashing it ? From what I understand, I suppose I could download the files (maybe from the official HTC site) and install it just like any other ROM. Am I right ?
4. Are there any problems with flashing I should be aware of (IDK, camera not working, microphone problems, graphic artefacts, whatever) ? Can I kill my phone if I do something wrong ?
5. A highly hypothetical question : is it possible to install any other mobile OS after rooting ? Not that I wanna do it, I just wanna know. If not, why ?
6. Is it possible to change boot animations, icons, etc in a ROM that I downloaded ?
I'm thinking about flashing the ROM, because I have problem with 3G / only the browser seems to work with the connection. All the other apps report "No connection".
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Most important :
Can I use the goldcard as a usual memcard, or do I have to have separate one ?
Is it possible to restore the original ROM after flashing it ?
Can I kill my phone if I do something wrong ?
C'mon guys, please..
1. I won't be able to explain how it works exactly, but it seems like it gives higher access level, which is needed for rooting your phone. You can use almost any (some of them doesn't work) MicroSD card and after rooting you phone you'll be able to format it and use as a memory card again.
2. http://android.modaco.com/content/h...-r4-htc-legend-rooting-guide-now-with-1-31-x/ (works on Linux, tested personaly).
3. Yes, later you can flash one of official ROM's. You can download them from here.
4. It depends on the ROM you're going to use. Some of them are damn stable and some not. Read comments before using it. Flash ROM's by using ROM Manager (it's on the Market), it's absolutely fail proof.
Just:
* don't forget to do FULL wipe before flashing ROM.
* read how-to's and (or) chef's notes carefully BEFORE you start.
5. I don't think so as there are no drivers for the other operating systems. Could be some other reasons is well, i don't know.
6. Yes, read those threads.
Thanks very much, dude !
I think I'll try out the most popular one - CyanogenMod. Hope that's stable and it's Froyo-based. Is it ?
btw I can't use the market, that's the main reason I wanna flash. I just can't connect to my gmail account, thus being unable to install new apps. On 3G none of the apps can connect to the internet, on wifi they connect, except the goddamn market.
Thanks again, much love !
btw I hear that you don't need the gold card to root the phone if it's not branded (therefore I don't need one to flash the ROM). Is that right ? My phone's not branded...

My phone wasn't branded too, but i couldn't root without the goldcard.
If I backup the data that I currently have on my memcard, can I restore it on any ROM I install ? I just need the facebook-linked contacts, I really don't have anything else as I can't install apps.
One more question - after flashing, is there a way to install apps without the market ? I know, if I had "astro file manager", I could, but now I can't even install astro. Maybe a similar (if not the same) file manager could be included in the ROM ?

You don't have to backup SD card before flashing ROM as you won't lose any pictures, music, videos or any other files THAT ARE on SD card (unless YOU will format it). If you want to backup some applications data/settings - try to use My Backup app.

You can install apps by using ADB if you don't have Market app installed. Also you can use any file manager if your app setup files (APKs) are on the SD card.
And a little advise - use Nandroid backup and then you can do whatever you want. If the things goes wrong way - use Nandroid restore Just do NOT format your SD card without copying files on your PC first.
I created a GoldCard using this guide. How do I know if it's a working goldcard before I root my phone ? I didn't even format the card (I forgot to, because it wasn't mentioned in the guide).
Dunno where the hell have I posted my question(there should be a "view my posts" button).
Anyway... I'm trying to root my Legend, but I get stuck at the point where I have to run the step1 script -> I'm unable to run it, because it allways throws me a "permission denied" error. Even tho it's ran by sudo and it has rwxrwxrwx permissions.
What's going on here ?

Hi, can I use the goldcard for different phones, like the also the Magic? I used the goldcard already for my legend, succesfully.
Thanks, Paul
I think you can
What app do you use to backup before wiping ?
I install my apps to the SDcard, so they should work after wiping, but I also need my old settings, phone book and stuff.
Titanium Backup does a fine backup "app-centric", so you can restore all your apps regardless of their location, including their settings, scores and market location. I would not recommend aiming for a backup of system settings, since you might compromise the function of your new ROM with old system settings. If you just want to do a test with a new ROM, and want to go back to your initial ROM, use Nandroid backup that is part of your rooted Recovery menu - it does a 1:1 backup of your entire ROM. For phone book etc. do a PC sync or use Google Apps. For SMS backup there are a number of free apps that back your SMS up to Gmail, under a SMS label, or to your SD, as an XML file.

It's for n00bs who don't know other way... For me it's extremely annoying with its pop up window every time phone is connected -.- so I removed it...
Do you remember in which foldier it is so i can delete it? I search a little with Root Explorer but i didn't found it...
it is because you resetted factory settings or etc, and it format /data partition and there is dop.iso. it was placed to data by se, and if you copy it back, it will show.
Here is the dop.iso (Unzip the attached file), the file you must put in the data folder. To do so you must have your phone rooted. Use "Root Explorer" to move it there.
P.S: The dop.iso is from my X8.
I personally remove it, and i do not want it there lol.
Yours GreatApo (Phone: X8)
The easiest way to get rid of PC companion from the phone is to first install it on the computer and then when it asks wheter you want to preserve it in mobile's memory or not simply say no
Hi!
Could anyone please upload the file dop.iso which has a file size of 13275136 bytes? The small one already posted didn't work for me.
Thank you!!!
