HTC Tytn (WM5 to WM6) for newbies (Help) - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hello everyone!
I have a HTC Tytn with WM5, and want to update it to WM6 (or later, with perfect and stable versions)
I´ve read loads of post, and got confused with so many applications and proceedments.
This is my first time with flashing/updating with these kind of devices, and need help to update my device.
I think for me and for future reference (for other users) that a step by step tutorial would be great.
P.S - I already searched the forum, and web for a step by step procedure wih no success.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I also got a Tytn with WM5 and now I am using WM6 released by HTC and ATT officially. This official WM6 Professional room was available before Aug 2008 and after that period, ATT offical website no longer provide download service. I searched on google for a few hours and finally get an official released rom. And this rom can work by just connecting your fully battery charged Tytn via USB and execute the *exe file you downloaded. It's very easy.
My suggestion: Ask google where can you get this room downloaded. And further more. Attention suspective links. There do exists free download without requirement of some sensitive information(Credit card number, etc)

If you've searcherd then you know to install Hard SPL V7 first... After that you can use the sd card method to install ANY Hermes rom... A quick search will give details, I know I've typed it out enough times...
Cheers....

Dear Ultramag69,
I do want to install Hard SPL V7 first, but I fail for almost every known method
to install it into my device. And I do unlock to super CID under the guide got
from this forum. I don't know why. So finally I decided to use a official release
version.

Go to the sticky about Hard SPL in the upgrading section, page 116, post 1160. It will tell you how to use the sd card to upgrade the SPL. Just remember that you need a 2Gb or less sd card formatted FAT32 or it won't work...

Thanks I'll try. But before that I am interested that whether the upgrade for Hermes from WM6 to WM6.5 would save me memory for running programms? The problem I am facing is that after I open WIFI and Palringo I will use 70% memory. When I open Google Map, then it eats 87% of memory. Can upgrade to un official WM6.5 help me solve this problem, or in reverse, latest system requires more memory?

I use HTC Task Manager and it also offers Close "X" button for all running Apps. But I want remove some ATT software encored in my windows mobile system, such as ATT Music, Mobile TV, Cellular Video...etc. Is there anyway I can move them without re flash my rom with 3rd party rom?

NO.........

Done [But, Can't Detect Memory Card]
Hello!
There's actually a link in XDA for the W.M 6.5 ROM.
Works perfect with TYTN, although i still have the memory card detection problem.
It says that it's not installed.
About the WM 6.5;
Since this equipment is a little bit slow; i added a few apps so the equipment can run faster (due to the new ROM consumes a little more memmory than the original WM. --> WM5.1).
[Performance Apps]
"Speedboost"
"Advanced Config"
I find those very usefull and you can actually "see" the diference; if you configure them well.

Memory Card NOT Working...
Hello.
By now i think i've read everything about this problem; and still can't access the memory card.
Although i found a method to figure where the problem is.
I opened the camera app; and reinserted the memory card; then a message appears asking if you desire to save the photos in the memory card.
So it means that the SD Slot; the memory card; are working.
Also seems that WM6.5 v2 (from "FCW") detects it somehow... But i can't open access the memory card in anyway.
I tryed these SDBus Updates: (but no success)
- AX3L 3.1.2c SDHC DLL's
- HTC SDHC Settings
- MiniSD HC Patch v2.2
- SDBUS
- SDHC
I'm going to install the v3 version now.
I'll report in a while.

WM 6.5 v3 (FCW)
No use; i can't find out...
Tryed everything and can't get it working.
The v3 works awsome; but didn't fix the problem.
It detects with the "Camera Method" but i can't use/explore the memory card. Also if i go into the "memory" app it says memory card not installed.
Any idead on what i'm doing wrong?

Yeah, me too !
I still cannot access my sd card in tytn at WM6.5 until now...
I wonder if HardSPL v.7 will works...

Greetings;
Awww... I was digging my old threads to make them more usefull, clean and clear.
Yes HARDSPL worked great!
By this time i'm proud to say that my HTC died.
Anyways; if anyone has troubles with SD Card; try to install the ROM; without the SD Card in the device. That shall do the trick. I remember that was my issue. Hope it helps.
Best Regards;

BTW, would win 98 or xp cause any problem in the installation process?
Thanks again,
OS not detected in the log doesnt appear to be a big deal. XP works fine with the SD card bootloader method with ppc2003
Dear Val,
You're my life savior, thanks again, I'll inform you what happens (hope it'll work fine, bty, I don't mind having another SD card erasure, if it is once and for all).
Are you native Thai? Your English is fantastic. I have a few Thai friends who would be very envious. Good Luck.
Hi Jeff, great job, any way you could post/email instructions about how to get our own kitchens up and running?

Yeah, but I was raised up in Oxford, UK (Looonnggg Time ago). Cheers
BTY, Val, if I choose not to install the Jeff's romkitchen through bootloader method, but rather through the .exe using my window xp, do you think it's OK? (the truth is I don't have a card reader and I'm running bootloader V5.17) I really don't want to make my like harder than it is now, so I prefer the rather-straight forward route. Thank you
You can install via .exe if you wish however if you want to downgrade your ROM you will need to use the bootloader method for best results. Bootloaders are cheap and worth every penny. In otherwords, get one soon! This will also help with backing up your ROM image which is very important in case you break something. Take Care.
Val, you are reaaaaallly responsive. Thanks again for your prompt reply. cheers.
thanks, i'm been by the computer most of today, going out to eat, back in a few hours.
Val, I guess your meal time equates my bed time, it's nearly 5 am now in Bangkok. Talk 2 you later. Thanks again
Dear Val and XDA Dev,
Just when I thought I could go to sleep, my SD card was erased again for the ......time (I lost my counting somewhere along 10s). Up to now, I do not know what causes it. BUT I DO KNOW how to check whether your SD Cards are secure from erasures. If you have the programme called "PHM Device Manager" just go to the Storage Port and check the Device ID under it. It is supposed to be pre-assigned and stay intact. If after a while of launching programs and/or soft-reseting the unit, the Device ID (SD Port ID) keeps numbering up, quickly lock your sd card before everything is erased.
If mates at XDA dev happen to know what causes changing of SD Port ID, please let me know. It looks to me as if the XDA is constantly examining the SD identification and each time it does, it recognizes the same SD card as different ones.
Please Advise, Thanks

Dear developers,
I have just also found out that the numbering up in Device ID (in Standard Disk Drive, DSK1) is 100% subject to how many times I have turned on/off the screen. Seems like the SD Card iteration is ignited each time the screen is turned off and on. ANyone, any clue to why?
on my xda currently @ dinner. Ken, I would get a card reader tomorrow and upgrade to Jeffs ROM asap. You cant downgrade right now for you upgraded via .exe. Can you get a card reader tomorrow?
Dear Val,
I'll manage to get the SD card Reader by tomorrow. Thousands of Thanks for your help
No Problem. Get the reader and we'll walk you through it. Keep in mind since you used the .exe to upgrade you will need to use the kitchen to save a rom that is based on ppc2002 if you want to go back. Talk you soon.
Please let us know the rom version etc that you have. If you already posted sorry for the double work on your part.
Dear Val,
My previous version was 3.17.03 radio stack (which is the same as now) was 4.21. The very version that one can download from o2 UK Website. I am not sure about the protocol version though.
One more thing, I've observed that all the ports (as shown in the PHM device manager programme-under "device by type" menu) have only entries in the Device ID, except for the DSK1 port that has both the Device ID and the Socket entries (the latter is set to 0 by default). Do you also use PHM device manager and if so, do you have identical settings.
Thanks in advance
good question. i have it installed but never looked at it. hold on...I dont have an entry in the ports section for a disk one. I only have:
serial cable on com1
serial cable on com2
serial on USB (com8)
serial port (com9)
I do have a standard disk drive (disk 1 under drives though. Hmmm. Any experts want to comment?
Dear Val, OOOPS it seems that I have misled you somehow. What I meant was the settings under the "Disk Drives"->"Standard Disk Drives (DSK1). I guess I must have messed things up with the port entry, sorry.
Time to get some sleep Ken. No problem at all. We are all here to help each other out. So it sound as though we have the same settings? Which type of SD Card do you have? I have a sandisk 256mb for normal use and a sandisk 64mb for flashing.
Dear Val, My device ID starts running up from 19 upto around 46 now. I guess your ID is intact, right? BTW, my SD Card is SanDisk 128Mb

rom flash crash

hi folks tried to update special rom and upon where the XDa comes up with upgrading takes 5mins the software crashed out telling me to remove from cradle and do soft reset well did all that but cant get active sync to recongnise the XDA and the XDA is still on that upgraing 5 minute screen HELP
If it will not resume when you restart the upgrade program on the PC, then it's time to upgrade via the bootloader method. You need (access to)an SD-card reader/writer for the PC, and to read around on this forum a bit.
thanxs I guess thats the conclusion I came to however just to make sure do u know the steps involved in installing the special rom I have the download exe file someones put on the forum
****. I cooked a second ROM (based on testing the first one - and removing utils I didn't need)
Flashing started - but this time, ActiveSync dropped out and I was left with the 5 minutes screen.
I have tried hard reset but only the "upgrading' screen appears. Now I'm wishing I had never messed with it.
I can get the Wallaby Boot loader screen to come up (GSM OK) it says.
But I have no clue about this other "bootloader" method mentioned on this page. Can anyone please advise where can I find details of the fix? Is the ROM really wiped out and no longer recoverable?
I have the same problem as the first person who posted.
Then you will need to restore the OS using an SD card. (Min 64mb).
Probably easiest to cook a ROM at Jeffs Kitchen to your taste:
http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/ROMkitchen/
Save it as .nb1 type (bottom of that page).
Then get XDA Tools (yes I know its starting to sound complicated but its not really). http://xda-developers.com/XDAtools/
That program allows you to copy the .nb1 file you cooked to be loaded onto the SD card.
Once you have transferred the OS (.nb1) file to the SD, stick it in your XDA.
Turn on the XDA pressing simultaneously the on switch and sticking the stylus in the SOFT reset hole.
You should get a white screen saying something like flash ROM from SD. Press the JOG (navigator) big switch at the bottom to start the process.
Make sure you have mains power to XDA during this process.
When it finishes, REMOVE the SD card and press HARD reset.
Should be back to normal!
p.s. It goes without saying that you need an SD card reader !!
p.p.s I hope yours is better than mine. Try to get the latest version with drivers that can deal with big SD card sizes...
It does not say hard reset it say cold reboot to reset. So I did a soft reset and it worked after about 7 tries.
I really like what they did with this ROM Kitchen. I would think that if they can get this really stable then they should offer a service to create your own ROM's allowing the user to select what programs they want to include in the ROM.
Er, if you read other areas on this site you will notice that this is run by enthusiasts, who are making their work available to others.
So a little please and thank you will ease your way.
Rather than... "they should" maybe "it would be nice if...."
 If you really want to DIY - then follow all the instructions, get yourself a Unix platform and MKROM.
Bye
ps sorry I got one detail wrong.
pps Sorry I bothered actually

Believe me as the owner of www.pocketpcminds.com I understand this. Back in the days of carrying a Palm OS device there a program that allowed you to add and delete things in your ROM.
What I was suggestion is a service that users could pay for that would inlude a list of Pocket PC programs that the users could choose what programs they want loaded in the ROM. From what I have seen of Pocket PC users each person has a list of programs that they find useful and use regularly.
I onlt suggest this because the people running this need to cover thier cost. Otherwise they may use intrest and stop it all together.
We're all too busy with other things to turn the ROMkitchen into a commercial thing. But if anyone else wants to do so, please contact us.
Pro:
- It would be a great sales platform for software (spb gprs monitor, PIMs, etc.)
Con:
- Available space shrinks as OS grows
- No idea how this works out on XDA II yet
Can't burn the Wallaby Patch to the SD
When I try to burn Wallaby Patch to SD the following error appears
Failed to open device \\.\PhysicalDrive8
Anyone help with this.
hi I did all that but when the XDA is being flashed it finishes but comes with achecksum error now I know I am doing everything right as I managed to reload O2 original .nb1 file and my xda is still as was however I want the forums version rom so can unlock many thanx for the previous how 2 instructions

I have a similar 5 min screen, and I tried as told, that is bought a card reader, cooked ROM, downloaded and transferred the nk.nb1 file to sd card using xda-tools, and entered into bootloader. But all I get is WAIT and then GSM OK message. Not the one that gives me option of flashing the ROM. How exactly to transfer the ROM image to SD card?
Rom Flash Crash
Just in case
I found that getting the XDA going initially by putting across the O2 installer programmeA onto the SD card rebootting with soft reset which installs the standard O2 locked phone system however this allows your XDA to be seen by the PC
all I did then was using the Kitchen Rom is double clicked it then goes into install mode through Programme A and does a PC to phone install.
I found I reinstalled twice and the phone now is working unlocked as required
I tried many times to do the soft reset install as instructed on the forum but it just crashed everytime
I guess the WBL version 5.15 does not identify nk.nb1 file as a rom image. it needs the rom image in raw form, the same as it is copied by bootloader that is WinCE to SD. I think the old XDArit writes it in the required format. dont know how the XDA-Tools does it.
ROM flash crash - solved!
It finally worked. With help from ntabikha, a member of this forum, I got it going. I plugged it in the cradle after hard reset. Activesync kept announcing that it can not connect to the device, and I kept clicking "Retry" (perhaps "disconnect com port" might as well have been all right, but I didn't do it. I thought it might disconnect the com port and stop the Program A from connecting to the device).
I then ran the Original Qtek Upgrade installer, and it did not connect on the first attempt. But it asked me to soft reset the device and run the program again. I did so, and whoa! it worked! It worked great! However, I don't understand why the cooked version 3.17 from Jeff's kitchen was installed instead of Qtek Upgrade Version 3.16.52. I care the least though, since I now have a working xda! Thanks to the guidance from ntabikha.

P800 rom flashing problem

I have an unbranded Chinese P800 from eBay and would like to upgrade it to WM 6.0. What I have onboard :
1. WM 5.0 OS 5.1.525 (Build 15364.3.4.4)
2. Processor ARM926T OMAP730
However, one perculiar thing is that I can't find any Device Info on IPL, SPL, Radio ROM etc. I've tried using WST 4.2.2 but to no avail. I'm using my Lenovo S10 Netbook running XP and ASync 4.5. What I've managed to do are :
1. Run USPL, it goes from 0.. to 60.. and hangs, I reset my P800, USPL resumes to 70..100 and the RUU program starts,
2. the screen on my P800 turns dark with the Linux Penguin and some message of mapping, preloader etc comes on temporarily before Windows comes on again,
3. RUU runs, upgrading to image 9.99 (original image is blank-no info), when UPDATE ROM IMAGE ON YOUR PDA PHONE comes on it never gets to more than 0% (no blue progress bar), my P800 screen goes dark, loses connection and I get ERROR(260).
I have done this several times and there is no way I can verify if the CID is unlocked as I can't get the SPL info anywhere. So I will appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.

Hi Salimbs,
just another note,
in the past I found myself in big trouble (not with Himalaya as it was SD flashed) but with Charmer and Magician ROM updates, also with ROMs that I have already used in the past and classified as stable,
Roms used to get blocked during upgrade leaving me in Boot mode if I don't remember bad..
I have noticed that this error was common when Ms. Office applications like for sxample Word or Excel was turned on!
it makes like a kind of disturb to the rom!
once closed (all office and not necessary applications) roms updates smooth and bug free!
Don't remember if it was an Err 260 or not, I just remember that update blocked at a certain point...
try to do your upgrades with office turned off!
wish it will help to solve your problem

Hi mouse.co.nr,
Well noted and I'll keep this in mind. From your experience have you ever tried the SDHC.cab so that your phone can read the micro SDHC? I ran it in my phone and now my STORAGE CARD is gone! Anyway, thanks again. Cheers!
Not SDHC my friend but Artemis SDHC,
I don't know what is exactly the difference, maybe one is for big SD and the other is for MicroSD, anyway I've tried the one for artemis and now I'm working with a 8 GB micro sd, and it can go till 16 GB.
I've tried that with other artemis ROM versions and works very good...
For your problem have a look at this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345038;
and download the programs indicated below...
What I advice you to do is the following:
1) remove your SDHC card (it have a sort of bad luck with any upgrade that needs a reboot)
2) copy SDHC_Artemis_back2original.cab to your documents folder (PPC documents obviously) then run it, soft reset.
3) then copy the correct SD HC for artemis "SDHC-Artemis.cab ", in the same way of the above and run it.
this shuld work "I wish for you"
let me know..
how about the ROM update? did you succeed at the end?
have you also updated also GSM radio ROM? generally original roms come with a 2.11.... version, old and not always good in reception!
I advice to change it in 03.18.90 shall work well also with your provider, for GSM signal WIFI, GPRS and GPS..

However with regards to my ROM update I'm still a little confused.I've managed to patch the artemis_jumpSPL_pof_v1.nb using Kermit the Frog(jumpSPL.exe). After that I run the RUU again but I still get the same result-0%Can you tell me how or show me the relevant threads?

Kermit sounds funny but it's the first time I don't know how does it work!!
try the ufficial SPL unlocker for artemis, nothing more,

* Run start_uspl.exe from the Artemis_USPL package in the link above,
* Run till it reachs 100% and Dos Window turns off alone, and launches RUU upgrade interface..yes, yes, continue, continue.... 100%
* After device shall have SPL 1.11 and so you can load new ROMs
let me know if it will solve the problem..

Hi mouse,
Actually "Kermit the Frog" is the icon for JumpSPL.exe. Anyway, like I've mentioned in my first post everything seems OK except that I can't check for the SPL and when the RUU runs it never gets to more than 0% and then I lose connection and get ERROR 260. I'll be trying again and let you know of the outcome. Once again, thank you, I really appreciate your help!

I'm kinda frustrated with my HD2 device at the moment. It worked perfectly fine until a few days ago.
It has begun to freeze _very_ often. With some ROMS it can't even boot up. It freezes when I have to enter my PIN. On other ROMS it is guranteed to freeze when using ActiveSync/Exchange.
Using HSQL, I've tried L3v5y, XannyTechRom, and MIRI. All with the same result.
Have you got any ideas whats wrong with my device?
Any help will be much appreciated.
I have no idea about whats wrong but this has been a common issue/problem for many members...I don't think I saw this many issues with the HD...I dunno whats wrong with HD2 or the ROMs that it starts freezing for some...maybe the HSPL is buggy? I dunno to be honest.
maybe you should install a stock rom in between or go to MTTY and see if that fixes the issues for you.
Overall tho, its frightening to see how many people have freezing issues with Sense after flashing a couple of custom ROMs...I'm afraid it might eventually happen to everyone and thats why we need to find out what is causing this.
BTW try to format your SD card and then flash a stock ROM without the SD card and see if there is any improvement...my guess is that it will work fine again (for a while at least).
What I have figured out is that with different roms the behaviour is different, depending IN WHICH ORDER you have the links in the autostart folder.
Right after flashing it should be ok and if you install than other programms the startup interfears with the startup of htc-sense
Finaly I have the best result (on my device with the programms I have installed) keeping the htc-Sense startup as the LAST item.
You can change the order with sk-tools (Autotstart items).
You can check this (If you have a chance to access):
- Make a reset and do not enter the pin code of your sim card (on my device this was making a difference, if you do not have a pin code maybe you should take out your sim card that the phone cannot connect)
- Go to the settings and unselect in "Today" "HTC Sense"
Than you should have the normal "speed" of the device and you should be able to start sk tools and change the booting order.
It looks like that - depending on the start up order that applications - processes are waiting for each other and using nearly 100% of cpu power and you have therefore the impression that the device is frozen.
I am sorry I do not know how to change the startup order without sk-Tools
Best regards,
dingolino

I will try what you suggest later today and then write back the results here. It would be very nice if we could solve this issue.
I don't really get that MTTY thing. What exactly does it do?

Can you only use that ROM? Have you tried flashing another one after strenas?
I would really like to use l3v5y's ROM.

When you flash lots of cooked roms, they get "bloated" and the devices started hard-resetting for no reason. this is because of files from old roms being left when the new rom is flashed.
MTTY allows you to enter the device on bootloader and use service commands to format the file system on the device so you can remove all rom files before flashing a new rom!!

basicly it will format your system and make sure you don't have any files from older roms left on the system which might cause this issues.

i tried too l3v5y's ROM and it didn't work. But maybe, your pb is not exactly same as mine.
Do you you a 16 GB card ? for me, it's certainly cause of pb because i can use every rom without sd card
Try to ask more to sternas but i noticed he prefer keep his cook secrets
Try to install "official" 1.61, make HR after boot. After next reboot connect with PC and flash with any cooked ROM. I had the same problems like you and this helped me...

Try deleting the folder "\Application Folder" on the storage card using your PC/Laptop, and reinsert the SD card into HD2. I assume you are using ROM cooked with Manila version that has the document tab.
Let us know if this works for you. It took me a long time and many flashes to figure this out. I suppose you have configured your HD2 for emails or MS Exchange pushmail?
Edit : If you already experience the slowdown caused by inserting the SD Card, MAKE SURE you reboot your HD2 before re-inserting the SD card.
I had this "freezing during startup" with a number of roms (always after I installed my software) and since that I am always "tweaking" it by the startup order as I described it and was able to solve it!
I do not think that it is hardware related in the amount of cases which are reported. And I am also not a strong believer of this "flashing" and mtty discussion (it could be a solution is some cases but I do not think in this relatively larger number of cases which are reported).
For most of the rom cookers it is not the 1st rom cooking they are doing and the HD2 is not the 1st HD2 device for HTC as well. This is the reason why I do not think that there is a principle rom problem nor a principle hardware problem
Manila Sense is a complex pcs of software and the startup is therefore more complex.
Depending on the tweaks the rom cookers are doing on the XIP and other WM internals there could be a timing interfearance during booting and this is creating the trouble for Manila Sense startup (network, phone, etc.).
Reminds me to the "good old days" with ATART-ST where you had dedicated tools to rearrange the startup seaquenze of the Accessories
At least i think it is worth trying it, you cannot loose anything.
But I played not only with the finaly boot order of htc-Sense (the last one) but also I put other elements in a different order.
Sometimes it was helping to install Panolauncher and put it before HTC Sense startup - I had the impression that just having another application before HTCsense made an improvement to "give HTCSense" more time.
Does not sound like science but a little bit like Voodoo ...
My Autostart folder (only the applications)
1. poutlook.lnk
2. BTTrayCE.lnk
3. De|WMPTempFolder.lnk
4. PKG.lnk
5. Lotus Traveler.lnk (installed by me)
6. LotusPRUploader.lnk (installed by me)
7. Panolauncher.lnk (installed by me)
8. OM10QS.lnk (installed by me - Opera 10 beta)
9. HTCStartUp.lnk
Good luck

Hi,
sounds to me like you have flashed so many times you HD2 has become "Bloated"
this is where for eg, Rom X is 110Mb, and then you Flash Rom Y which is only 100Mb.
When you do the flash there is 10Mb of residual files left from the previous rom., when this happens often you get strange things happening like you describe and worse, your device can start hard resetting for no reason!!
Go to this thread (swap the ** for tt ) h**p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=616422 (I cant post links yet!!) and it will fix your issue. (The thread has been shut as there has been a big argument over it, something to do with a disagreement over drivers!! - how gay!)
I can honestly say, although i have only joined recently, i have been a user of this method for about 6 years, I personally know the Guy who opened the thread and i would stand buy him 100%.
Although the thread is closed, i will help with queries via PM if you like!

I tried deleting the \Application Folder folder and reset the phone.
Of course this equaled a hard reset as all system data stored was in \Application Folder.
So I removed my storage card and did a hard reset so that the system data will not be stored in the storage card.
Hopefully this will be make the device more stable as such.
use the mtty to format ur device first, then flash the rom u want to flash.
I have encountered the same issues just like u, after use the MTTY, so far so good.
the post is kind of complex, but it is worth to have a try.

my experience with new 3.14 rom

hi friends, i have flashed the new 3.14 (asia/ india) rom, wanted to share a few things
i had hspl3 on 1.48 wwe rom (did that earlier to upgrade my radio for android)
so, now i uninstalled hspl3 using hspl2.pkg and flashed spl 1.42 using it (you can also flash spl 1.62 with it if your earlier version was that) and then installed the new rom (you have to uninstall hspl to spl before flashing this rom because hspl is not compatible with it, you will have errors and low memory on device( only 50 mb free) (thanks kurt-willems)
and i must say it is zippier and has few changes (minor) that i can make out, cant say if any of them were present in previous versions, as i previously had only 1.48 wwe with hotfixes installed
changes i noticed: (from 1.48 wwe)
1. faster boot up, faster scrolling and fast responsiveness overall
2. a notification sound on booting up htc screen (quietly brilliant)
3. in communication manager, a new ....wifi-router toggle
4. device free storage=128.57 MB and free program= 177.93 MB
5. hardware info >> ram=448 MB/ flash memory=512/storage=171.02 MB/colors=65536/ bluetooth version=2.1/2.1+EDR
6. software/ os-5.2.21913/ manila-2.5.201815227.0 (yeah! landscape in CHT)
rom- 3.14.720.3(04666)wwe (720=india?!)
radio- 2.15.50.11U (did htc make it a .50 radio to enable android install easy?...because i remember my earlier one was .51 and i had to flash a .50)
7. music tab- the next song /album can be swiped by a finger flick from above downwards on the album art.(in portrait mode)......this is new
8. i was changing the registry tricks, and found a few registry dword value names changed or missing , such as in youtube to cut short video titles, none present/ in opera 9.7, missing zoom slider registry/ changed name of "vibration enabled" in keypad registry to "feedback enabled"/ etc........but mostly rest of it same
yes, android works (mdeejay rEVOlution 2.3).......smooth, no hiccups........using same sd card without any formatting
what i didnot understand was why htc still has not put the simple things like task manager on today screen or still opera 9.7 when 10 is available (?for pinch to zoom?.....no probs, i use zoomer cab)
anyways trying out cht and installing some colour into my phone .....also, i have not changed anything in my sd card (has winmo +android folders) except only deleting application data, program files and windows (yes i had one on my sd card ) folders from my sd card .......so no need to format your cards guys..i have all my cabs in a folder on my sd...off i go installing them

Is Tethering Enabled in Rom 3.14?
TMobile released the new rom at around the same time it said it would begin charging for tethering.
I haven't installed 3.14 yet, and won't, until we can verify that it won't affect the tethering we now enjoy at no additional cost.
So the first question is whether there is a program icon in the Tools folder for Internet Sharing. The second question, of course, is whether you can connect to the internet through the phone over usb or bluetooth.
Thanks for the confirmation re android. That's great news on a stock rom.
Mandel
by internet sharing, you mean wifi router? ..(you can use your 3g connection with the phone as a wifi modem to connect and browse the www on your laptop)..yes it is present and you also have a easy toggle switch for it in the comm. manager
I flash to 3.14 and am still using HSPL 2.08
i recently flashed the new update 3.14 from tmaobile and I did not revert my HSPL to SPL and All works fine have not had any issues at all email connects up to exchange web youtube and even the facebook app run a lot smoother and faster than in previous versions. I am running SPL-2.08.HSPL cotulla

Free program memory

you are the only person to have it so, congrats
What I was running before i flashed
I was running energy rom the one that cam out in sept. i believe. and was running PB81120 SS-B3 SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE 0x05 CotullaHSPL 0x40.
Before I flashed my phone. I then downloaded 3.14 from t-mobile's website and flashed it.
After I started the flash I relized I had forgot to load SPL instaed of HSPL but when the phone came up everything seemed to be working fine except windows marketplace and exchange. After I hooked up my phone to my PC and did a manual sync to exchange. then marketplace and wireless syncing started working
I then loaded cookies home tab and it been running very smooth ever since.

pakure,
I was asking about tether the hd2 via usb to a laptop, and accessing the Net using the phone's data plan.
I do that now. After connecting the hd2 to my notebook using usb, I go to tools/internet sharing and follow the prompts. Does the new rom offer the same option? Does it work?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Pakure/Dear XDA team,
I've got the same official HTC HD2 ROM upgrade with the Android version (mdeejay rEVOlution 2.3) on Storage Card 2 (Dedicated for Android).
I face a strange problem, its that with my Storage Card 1 (with all apps n stuff for WinMo), I have CHT (Home Editor+Tab; Rel v.1.8.5).
When I have Android (with Storage card 2), I use the phone for few hours --> Power off Android --> Swap to Storage Card 1:
Here on, I get various error pop-ups for 'LockDevice', 'CHT_Helper', 'CHT_Wall' that cannot be loaded.
In such a case, I need to hard reset my phone to fix this issue, the only way so far I know to fix this scenario.
And it's a tedious thing to restore CHT quicklinks and stuff like customizing the phone.
Is it because I've installed the CHT on my SD card and not on my device memory?
Anybody got help to offer?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards,
Dave Mayur.

Sir it's better to install CHT on internal memory!
yes sir, it is because you installed cht on sd card and it is now missing with your new sd card2, but pray, why are you using 2 cards?...if 8 gb is not enough, buy 16 gb, but i prefer using single sd card for both winmo and android for these same problems.......i run both with no problem at all on the same card
also, remember to delete the program files folder on your sd card-1 , and reinstall all the cabs again after flashing to the new rom
looking at the future, i believe, invest in a 32gb card to boot winmo 6.5, android, ubuntu, meego and wp7 all from same sd card

Maybe he's got the US version. I've got the TMOUS HD2 and I have HSPL3 on mine and everything is fine after the flash. I do get memory errors in Opera telling me to close programs but I think it's just a registry tweak to fix that...
Hi Pakure/Kurt-Willems,
I'm no sir, you can call me Friend!
Well, thanks a lot for your suggestions and help.
More on the issue that I'm facing is as such (I guess this changes the direction of the original issue and hence the possible solution):
1. SD1 card (with WinMo apps/games installed, including CHT): Works fine.
2. Power-off the phone, insert SD2 card(with Android): Works fine.
3. If, with Android on the phone, and I connect the phone to PC: Phone is recognized as an Android device and gets installed by self-installation of drivers (fails with one ADB driver installation).
4. Power-off the phone, insert SD1 card: Error pop-ups on startup (related to LockDevice, CHT_Wall, CHT_Helper).
I now further observe that in this scenario in Windows on phone, no application/game would work. In this scenario, if I try to install some app/game, it says it cannot.
ONLY solution: Hard-reset the phone and redo the CHT installation and other device customizations/registry tweaks.
Now, this issue in Windows mode happens only if I do step 3 above. Otherwise, if I use Android on the phone and simply power-off the phone from Android mode and replace to SD1 card and power-up in usual Windows mode, then Windows doesnt have any issues.
So, Friends, I'm not eagerly seeking any solution to this situation because I can be precautious to connect the phone to the PC only when in Windows mode!
This is just to share with you incase someone else faces this problem and one of us could guide then.
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Dave Mayur
i understand, but i would not use adb mode with android, try using something like dropbox for transferring small files in android and for larger files, well... use in windows mode....but i still prefer single sd card because it is easier and faster to boot back into windows for file transfers (no need to remove back cover and change sd card)...just my way of doing it
ps..can you tell me why you need 2 sd cards?........apart from size restrictions
