Modern Combat 3 $.49 - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

MC3 is .49 cents today on play store.

So what do I do when I run out of space from all these Gameloft games?

you use gl2sd
it will move the big part of data to your sd card.

Onscreen controls in fps games? You really got to be pro to enjoy playing such game on mobile.
I tried but failed.
Its like playing football(soccer) without shoes. but hey nicee price and graphic

Single player is nice but don't touch online unless you have a hardware controller.

750 MB for another game? Go for the 128GB Micro SD....
I can't get enough of these 50c bargains. One day I might even play them!

its hard enough trying to play this on the note, i cant even imaging playing this on the iphone. 3.5 inch screen? its ridiculous even on the note. so cramped.

Disuss your success in first person shooters

Recently I've been addicted to rainbow 6 multiplayer on my xperia play. I've noticed that I have a much easier time aiming and headshots then other players... Chances are they are gaming on a regular touchsphone, scrambling to aim at me but die before they can shoot.
At a record of 1887 to 817 deaths, it's safe to say because of the keypad advantage, I am better then other players. How are you guys coping with fps??? I was never good at fps but I get records like 100-26 with 42 kills being headshots

I would also like to add that I am extremely happy with this phone, for the simple fact that it's for gamers.. Casual or not the gamepad really enriches the experience... It's sad that sony releases this when they are struggling and don't promote or back it properly... If it was samsung that released it, I'm sure it will dominate the entire cellphone gaming market
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
Ya they definitely released it at the wrong time, or atleast should of worked more on the release games...but i think its a fantastic phone, the gamepad is beautiful, playing first person shooters against any touch screen players does put you a step ahead, i personal like nova 2 never really enjoyed the modern combat, felt really awkward to play. Probably the best part of the phone is being able to play ANY emulator on your phone at perfect speed with a proper gamepad, doesnt get much better than that! Personally loving the playstation emulator and snes! - Kes

Im very disapointed in the way gameloft have applied the right touch pad, all they have done is use it to emulate screen swipes, i dont understand why they cannot use it to emulate an analogue stick like they do with the left one! Like on battle bears

Swipe look is rubbish. It's the one and only thing that ruins fps's enjoyability on the Xperia Play for me at the moment.
Unfortunately Gameloft is only FPS option at the moment. Just like the Ipad 2. They make all these grand promises of great games like Infinity blade yet there hasn’t been any games like it since.
Edit: Has anyone tried Modern Warfare 2?
You guys are screwed the new PSP is on its way and it stole all marketing from the play. Actually the play had a great buzz as far as the web goes but that's as far as it went.

You are right but I did buy the phone for more. I was hoping for PSP games like God Of War. If it doesn't get any more support I may switch back to my 3GS and give this one to my daughter to play games on.
Finally got around to playing Rainbow 6 (great that it was free!).
Seems like top fun online.
Went in blind, straight into multiplayer not know controls etc and managed 11 kills and 12 deaths on the Play. That might not seem good, but it's good for me in an FPS.
Also turned the horrid music off, made it feel a bit like Counterstrike...how good would that be on Android btw?
Can see myself playing Rainbow 6 a lot now.

The PSVita and the XPlay are two entirely different devices. The Xplay replaces your phone, ergo you have it on you at all time. It's not a gaming beast like the PSVita, but the battery lasts all day, you can do all your phone stuff on it, and when you are in the mood for games there are a myriad of choices and they all play awesome because you have physical buttons rather than just a touch screen.
The PSVita is great for places where you actually plan to bring it. Like flights, ferry rides, etc

I only bought the phone for emulators originally. I didnt even care about the playstation store. All i wanted to do was play some snes/megadrive/mame games on my telephone. You can not play these games on touchscreen only. Totally uncontrollable.
Didnt even know gameloft were porting to the xperia play. Got alot more than i bargained for. Some (Most?) Gameloft games are very awesome.
Being able to play mobile phone games and even browse the internet with the control pad is way better and more fun than any touch screen only on the market atm.

Games look awesome on this & have yet to have any issues.
I'm currently playing FF3 & ME:I. I had to use a TiBU of ME:I to install though. Sadly, if you're a gamer, be smart & spend that extra $50 for the 16GB model. You won't regret it at all.
You have to be space conscious with a 8GB especially when you have to factor in your nandroids.

Onlive works really nicely on my Transformer Prime, so no reason it should be any different for the Nexus
I assume using the Onlive bluetooth controller will be fine?
although there are very few that have the nexus 7 right now, I'm wondering if those who have any kind of tablet have ever tried restoring a titanium backup of a game from their phone to a tablet. Is the apk vastly different due to screen size, or does it "adjust" itself for running on a tablet? It's not a deal breaker for me cuz I'm probably going to play tegra 3 games on the n7 but it would be nice to restore my mc3 or my mass effect which I currently have backed up on my EVO 4g LTE.

I have the Universal Controller and it works on my (now sold) Galaxy Table with Android 3.0 (HoneyComb). It also works on my friend's Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.0 (ICS), so theoretically it should work with 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
I've already bought Dead Trigger and have a list of Indie games to buy from the Play Store with my $25 credit as soon as my N7 arrives. I can't see how this tablet will be anything less than stellar running top games.

Spiderman

Anyone with a nexus 7 install the Spider-man game?

wondering if it might be worth $7 of my $25 credit....
That is a good question.... Good news is that the game is optimized for Tegra 3, so it should hopefully work. You never know with Gameloft though.
I have it on both my iPad and my One X and can confidently say that it is a complete turd of a game. It was very obviously rushed just to capitalize on the release of the movie.

Spiderman for the consoles is different, besides the Amazing Spiderman.
Spiderman runs great on my Galaxy S3. No issues at all. Game is not all that bad. I kinda like it but after some time it feel kinda of repetitive which is true with any spiderman game. I still like the game though but 6.99 is actually a bit steep.

I bought it on my G-Note, and wasn't impressed. Every mission was pretty much the same. Swing around, find group of thugs, beat up group of thugs, repeat. Maybe things get a little more varied as the game progresses, but 5 or 6 missions that were pretty the same was enough for me. I didn't think it was worth the over 1gb of space it takes up.

Actual user available space posted above.
As for running out, it depends on YOU . Will you stream music, or keep it on your device? Will you keep movies on it (this I personally think is stupid because I can never enjoy a movie on a less than 60" of screen)? Will you play heavy 3D games, or just the light casual games like Subway Surfer or Bike Race? Even Dead Trigger is only 130MB of space, some games like Asphalt 7 take a whopping 2GB.
Also, if you plan on taking full advantage of the camera's 1080p video recording and like to take lots of 8mp stills, or photospheres, then you'd need to transfer all those to your computer rather requently to save space.

More than enough for my personal needs. Guess it depends on the person.
One thing differently is I no longer save my nandroids on my device. I use tool kit to save to PC (which saves about 3.6 gigs) Pointless to save on the phone either way.

I stream music all the time with spotify any Google music. Never keep movies on my phone since I also can't enjoy movies on a small screen, plus I have Netflix. Don't really record a whole lot either, but I do take lots of pictures and they'll all be at 8mp. I can sacrifice game downloads as i find myself not really playing any. The one thing I do a lot is download Roms. But I dont think paranoid android is out in the N4 so I won't be doing that soon. Hmmm, so should I just get the 8gb ?

Agreed yes I use a toolkit and don't save a bunch of nandroid backups. I still have over 3.5gb left. I'm amazaid everything is the same as my skyrocket and I had over 10gb of space used up. Its just much cleaner and I'm making the effort to keep it clean. Now if I could go back I would still buy a 16gb. It just didn't end up that way even though I tried at the time and rushed into a buy. But now that I have an 8gb. I'm not worried at all just having to learn to use box.com for pictures and such. Its just up to the person I guess.

Not regretting it one bit. I stream all of my music and very rarely play games. All my photos are uploaded to Google plus so I can delete them if needed.

I am going with the 8GB, $50 is a pretty big premium for only a little more space. Basically my thinking is that if I wanted to keep a lot of stuff (movies and music) on my device then 16GB wouldn't come close to enough. This will be my 4th android phone and I have never installed more than a 1-2GB of apps. I have almost a 30GB dropbox accounts where my pics and home movies get uploaded automatically, a 50GB box account for any additional storage (ROMs, backups, etc), about 5GB of music on Google Music (I have an Ipod that is part of my car stereo anyway where I listen to most of my music) and then I have Netflix if I ever get bored with movies. Once I decide on a solution to stream my 1TB of HD movies from my home HTPC I can't imagine myself ever needing more than 1-2GB of phone storage, that still leaves me a 3-4GB buffer which should be enough if I ever want some local storage for movies/music when I'm somewhere without a signal.

Looks like the 8 GB is enough for your needs.
Just remember to save all your pictures somewhere besides the phone (should be a habit on any device anyways) periodically.
From my experience, GB ROMs are less than 100 MB but from my understanding ICS ROMs are at 150 MB, or less...? Either way you have plenty of breathing room after what your media uses up so you can hold plenty of ROMs. Other users above said they put backups on PC and had a lot of space freed up, so friendly suggestion to do that.
And me, I just ordered the 16 GB version. Just because I'm one of those people who just want extra space for the sake of being there. I'm probably going to have 8 GB or so of extra space.
The USB OTG thing was something I did HEAVY research on, because I assumed if older versions of Android supported it, then a newer one would too. Almost jumped for an S3 because Touchwiz adds complete native no root support for all things USB OTG. I guess I'll live without it until some dev gets a software mod working.

I'm doing fine with the 8GB. All my pics are automatically uploaded online and I delete them right away from my phone. Don't have many apps installed on my phone. As for Nandroid backups, I copy them to my computer for safe keeping and to save up space. Can always move it to the phone if need be.
As for music and videos - don't transfer much. Just stream mostly.
Just fine, I have a dozen video podcasts, a dozen audio podcasts, ~100 songs, a couple large games (RPGs) and some pics/vids...still have 2.22gb of free space.
Just go with the 16GB. It's better to have more storage, than to have not enough.

I like to play games that are comparable to a console experience rather than lower graphics, 2d, arcade etc games...here is my "best of the best" list:
-GTA Vice City
-Batman - Dark Knight Rises
-Real Racing 3
-Real Boxing
-Riptide GP2
-Shadowgun: Deadzone
-Iron Man 3
-Dead Trigger
-Modern Combat 4(didn't buy yet since 5 is about to come out...)
Oh, and don't forget to get an awesome controller! For those unaware, Moga is coming out with newer generation controllers in a few weeks, check here to see them http://store.mogaanywhere.com/Main/Default
I found that the TouchArcade.com forums are pretty exhaustive in terms of game info, just look for the ones that are a universal or android app.

John GBC emulator
Plays all GBC games.
i play mostly minion rush and samurai versus zombies 2 hahahaha.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Middle Manager of Justice and Tiny Thief. I'm also a big fan of Minion Rush but be warned they will try to get money out of you at every turn but I guess that is the nature of F2P mobile games. I would just much rather pay 6.99 then to have ads and cash shop items pushed in my face at every turn.
Real racing 3 looks the best on the note 3's screen. But be prepared to spend a fortune on the game in stupid in app purchases to get anywhere, repair or car or order a new car. Same with Fifia 14 good game (No ref?! on the pitch Wtf is with that) and ingame purchases to play the teams you want too.
Clash of clans
